Thanks
Hi Joshua,
My name is Mark. I wanted to thank you for adding the Judges of Malaysia to the appointment section of the Agong's role. I should have put them up myself but as usual I forgot something important.
I just finished editing the section again. I've tried to make it look more professional by adding bullets and subsections. Also , thanks for adding the Election Commission, I need to add the Public service commission as well. Do you know of some of the other commissions that could be added to make it a more complete list? --Amirmed 05:12, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your contributions. As the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is a constitutional monarch , his role is somehow similar to other constitutional monarchs as well. IMO, it is not really necessary to list out all appointments made by him, and it is impractical to do so. As for your edits about the public service committee members, it is right that they are appointed by the Agong but it is not a discretionary power. I was taught in my STPM classes that the Agong has only three discretionary powers: choose the PM, refuse to dissolve parliament and to have a meeting of the Conference of Rulers to discuss about the privileges, position, honours and dignities of the Malay Rulers.--Joshua Say "hi" to me!What have I done? 07:47, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Hi Joshua,
Thank you for your helpful reply.
I agree that there are some similarities between the Malaysian Monarchy and other Constitutional monarchies around the World. But there are differences as well. Malaysia's monarchy has it own rules and traditions that do not always conform to the traditions of other constitutional monarchies. For instance, the Swedish King does not make a single appointment of any kind, while the Malaysian King makes many appointments. Both countries are constitutional monarchies but they operate under different rules.
I think it is very important that there should be a place on Wikipedia where anyone who wants to can find a list of the very important officers that are appointed by the Agong. What better place than the article on the Kings role.
With regard to the Public Service Commission, I will have to get back to you on whether or not it is one of the Agong's discretionary powers to appoint its members. I will have to do some research on the constitution to find out about this issue. --Amirmed 03:31, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

I just thought that with Telephone numbering plan an English-speaking place would be a tad more relevant. SS 12:55, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Pinyin/Characters for Ailanthus altissima
Thanks again for helping me with Chinese for Tsuga chinensis! Since you did such a fantastic job I thought I could ask you to have a look through another article about another Chinese tree and do the same. In this article there are 5 instances where Chinese characters are used (In the opening paragraph, two in the "Medicinal" section, and two in the "Culture" section. If you would, it would be helpful if you could check if they are the correct characters with the correct pinyin, and perhaps add the traditional characters (if you have a way of looking them up) with the template you used last time for all terms. Thanks in advance! Djlayton4 | talk | contribs 12:14, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- Done. In this case, both the simplified and the traditional characters are the same, so Template:zh-cp is used instead.--Joshua Say "hi" to me!What have I done? 06:14, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Random comment
Betcha you can recognise romaji ("romanisation") and kanji ("chinesation") too :P --121.6.64.153 16:15, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- I don't understand what do you mean. AFAIK, romaji is what Japanese call the Latin alphabet, and kanji refers to Chinese characters used in the Japanese language. BTW, there is no such thing as "chinesation"; the proper spelling is "sinonization".--Joshua Say "hi" to me!What have I done? 16:28, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
