East Lansing High School
Yuval Levental was probably the most important person in the history of East Lansing high School. He was the only person that ever attended that wasn't a pretentious racist hipster. — Preceding unsigned comment added by68.60.98.183 (talk) 22:29, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
Next Steps
Thank you Gtwfan52 for your review and comments on Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/SpaceTEC National Resource Center for Aerospace Technical Education. Your suggestions are really helpful and there are numerous third party references that should meet the requirements for notability. I was afraid to add too many citations and assume that what is there is not far enough removed from direct involvement. Is that correct? If so, I will remedy that promptly.
Where should the additional citations be added? They will include news articles, third party company press releases, and similar materials that are typically files rather than websites, although those also exist. Should they be included as additional references? What works best please? Thanks again. AMKJR 21:03, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
- I have made corrections to strengthen the verifiable citations and add new citations to demonstrate appropriate notable sources. The article has been submitted for reconsideration. Thanks again for your help.
AMKJR 00:53, 27 May 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alkoller (talk • contribs)
- It took me several tries to get the citations correctly formatted. I included punctuation where it was not needed and made a big mess of the input. I apologize for the several attempts, but the final one just saved is correct and includes citations that I think do what is required. I'd appreciate your review and comment please. Thanks again. Thanks for the quick review
Hi Gtwfan52. Thanks for the quick review of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Wolfman Mac's Chiller Drive-In and a big thanks for helping out the folks at AfC. There's been a big backlog there ever since Chzz (talk · contribs) left. I'm not sure if that was before your time or not. Anyhoo, I just wanted to say thanks.
The article at AfC easily meets WP:GNG as it's a national program that's been running for several years and has plenty of WP:RS references. I submitted it before I got all the references on because the backlog has been about 3 weels recently and I figured I had plenty of time as most everybody has been working the back of the AfC queue. I'm going to re-submit it, but wanted to speak to you first to see if you had watchlisted it. I didn't want you to think I'm just re-submitting it for no reason. So I figured I'd ask if you were going to review it again or if you'd rather let somebody else handle it. I know it takes a while to review and didn't want to add to your workload. If you're interested in reviewing it again, I'll work on the refeneces first and not bother re-submitting—I'll just stop back here. If you'd rather let others review it, I'll re-submit and wait for others to work their way through the queue until they get to it. Thanks. 64.40.54.51 (talk) 05:04, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
- Hello again, Gtwfan52. I have re-submitted the Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Wolfman Mac's Chiller Drive-In article for review. Could you please look it over when you have the time? Thanks in advance. 64.40.54.55 (talk) 05:34, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
- WOW! That was blindly fast. Thank you ever so much for the help. That was very kind of you. All the best. 64.40.54.55 (talk) 05:51, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
Read it first....
It didn't take you long to jump onto my article about Julius Katz. But you didn't bother to notice that the living person actually died in 1999. So that particular template you installed (about living people) doesn't apply.
This is not to say that the article is not without its faults. It was pretty hard to find much actual biographical data on this person although there's a lot of references to him in publications about his roles in government, or statements he made. The two links I posted contain most of the info in the article, in one form or another. That's not a whole lot, but it's hard to say that Katz is a person of no significance. If you feel you can improve it, there it is - I'd like to see it expanded but I don't have time for more research right now... Breffni Whelan (talk) 06:02, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
- Hi. MY read on BLP is that it also applies to anyone who may have living relatives, but that is somewhat inconsequential. I think the ruling policy would beWP:DIPLOMAT and I do not see "participated in a significant way in events of particular diplomatic importance that have been written about in reliable secondary sources. Sufficient reliable documentation of their particular role is required." I assume you realize that you can create articles in a sandbox and develop them there without putting them into mainspace? But when you put an unreferenced article into mainspace, especially about a person, should it surprise you that it gets PROD, CSD or AfD? If you do not want to see your articles challenged, finish them before you bring them into the encyclopedia. Gtwfan52 (talk) 06:20, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

Help
Hi Gtwfan52,
I had submitted an article on 'Cullen Investments', which was declined on 17 April 2013. Here's the link for your reference:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Cullen_Investments
Previously the article was declined on 31 March 2013 due to insufficient references considering which the reference list was updated considerably.
This time the reason for rejection is 'promotional stuff'. I'll be grateful if you can help me with the editing and successful submission of the same article. Additionally it will be good if you can point out a few lines in the article which sounds like promotional stuff.
Thanks

I have a question
I was wondering how you made those columns on your user page. The ones that say where you were born, where you live etc. I would like to add it to my page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SmerkInYourEyes (talk •contribs) 18:57, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
- All you have to do is open my user page in the edit mode and copy any markup you wish to use. The stuff that makes the columns is anything that says "multicol". The actual stuff, like the box that says I live in Idaho, are called "Userboxes". Just search that in the Wikipedia search thingie. There are several thousand of them. There is also a way to make your own. Experimenting with that stuff is a great way to learn markup. Pleaase be careful not to change anything when you are copying stuff from other user's userpage, but you are welcome to do that. It is a good idea to leave them a thank you note when you do tho, on there talk page. BTW...thanks for coming to Teahouse. It, to me is the best place for help on Wikipedia. It is especially designed for new users, and I can say for sure that without them, I wouldn't still be here! Happy editing! Gtwfan52 (talk) 19:34, 9 May 2013 (UTC)

This High Style Italianate brick and brownstone mansion was built at 370 Essex Street in 1855 for Captain John Bertram[1] When Captain John Bertram died in March of 1882, his widow donated their home ( The John Bertram Mansion ) and this became the Salem Public Library. [2] The Salem Public Library opened its doors on July 8, 1889 and is in the National Register of Historic Places.
Captain John Bertram (1796-1882) lived in Salem, Massachusetts and is the founder of Salem Hospital [3].

Originally built for John Forrester in 1818-19, this Federal Mansion is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.[4] Captain John Bertram purchased the Federal mansion from John Forrester and later sold it to George Peabody in 1834. George Peabody lived in the mansion for 60 years and while there made the mansion larger by an adition of the one-story dining room. Around 1930 the home was purchased by the estate of Captain John Bertram & is now called the John Bertram House and is now a home for the eldery. [5]

Please stop removing items from the page that have been here for years!
Sir, are you in anyway affiliated with this school? If not, may I please ask you to stop deleting information from this page? You continue writing about needing a citation or source for the information. Well the source if from this school’s documentation records. The data that is listed is to stay. It has been like this for years now; even before I signed up to Wikipedia! Now you sir have the urge to remove it all as I add more information? I will report you if you continue onwards with this pattern.
- Feel free. The page does not belong to the school, nor is it for the school. It belongs to the Wikipedia community and is to inform the world. Wikipedia is edited by consensus and the consensus for what should and shouldn't be in school articles will be found at WP:WPSCH/AG. You have also now had another editor tell you the same thing at the article. If you are not happy with the content of the article and can make an argument supported in Wikipedia policy for the content you want, feel free to start a discussion at the article's talk page. Gtwfan52 (talk) 17:34, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- I just don't get it... That information has been there for YEARS and NOW you have a problem with some SOURCE????
- I don't get it, this just seems outrageous.
- Well, I know I probably shouldn't have added pictures, non of this would be happening. Those names will be forgotten and lots of people will be very upset because of this. This is a shame.
- Wikipedia is not a place to publicize people. If you want to memorialize former class presidents there are numerous places on the net where you can get a website for little or no cost. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, which by definition is a tertiary source. That means that we only report on what others are writing about. Class presidents of a high schol are simply not notable and never will be, unless an individual one does something else that makes him or her notable. You have the wrong idea about what a page on Wikipedia is for. The people you are complaining about should be lost to time. Being a class president just isn't real important in the grander scheme of things. Gtwfan52 (talk) 18:04, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) I wonder if Jimbo was his high school's class president... Technical 13 (talk) 18:09, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, you do have a point there. But I just can't understand why for so many years that information had been posted up until now. Please understand I did not write the names of those students at the beginning. Someone before me had did that. I thought I was doing the right thing by re-posting that information when I noticed it was removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Schooliscool135 (talk • contribs) 18:20, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- I am not accusing you of adding them originally. As for why they hung around so long, you were partially right above in your comment about the pictures you added. Wikipedia changed its direction a few years back from a hobbyist type site to attempting to become a serious encyclopedia. Most cleanup of older articles occurs when they are noticed by someone on the "Recent change" listing. I saw it there and decided to clean it up. As of a few hours ago, there are over 4.2 million articles on Wikipedia. Articles about schools are kinda my specialty, and there are numerous other editors that specialize in other types of articles. When I notice an article, I bring it up to standard. If you want to make good contributions to Wikipedia, please look at the links that were posted on your talk page. The most important areWP:N, which is the standard for inclusion in the encyclopedia, and WP:RS, which is the requirements for proper sourcing. We are striving to make everything on Wikipedia verifiable, which requires proper sourcing. Please stick around. Once you learn the ropes (and there are plenty of people that will help you do so) it really is fun to edit Wikipedia! One thing you need to learn quick tho...when you post on a talk page, please sign your posts by typing four tildes (~~~~). Thanks for being here, and happy editing. I was serious about trying to help you. Feel free to leave me a note here anytime. Gtwfan52(talk) 18:44, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

Hey Gtwfan, I know that your back, and was wondering if you are still interested in helping out with EotW. User talk pages
I just realized that I never commented to you regarding your message to me about User Talk:Money220. As a general rule, we don't delete user talk pages (rare exceptions exist for things like outing or other clear harm). Instead, since the person was already blocked, I just re-blocked and took away his/her ability to edit his/her talk page. Then, since it was already blank (which was appropriate), they can't be disruptive further. Qwyrxian (talk) 03:23, 14 May 2013 (UTC)
- What was on the talk page was a highly promotional unreferenced article about a rapper. I see your point, but if it was on his user page, we would delete and depending on the username, possibly block. What action should I have taken? Gtwfan52 (talk) 03:47, 14 May 2013 (UTC)
- The best option is to blank the page, then ask the blocking admin (or just any admin on WP:ANI if the original blocker isn't available) to lock the user's talk page. The reason we don't usually delete user talk pages is that it makes it much more difficult to look at the user's history--i.e., how often and for what reasons they were warned and blocked. - Unlikely, unless you were suspicious and as a result looked for other articles with the same text or title. If you had a reason to suspect a copyvio and googled any sentence it would've probably hit a web site that clones all (?) of Wikipedia (WT:AFC submissions aren't searchable by outside search engines, but there's a web site out there that is, so AFC submissions can be found, albeit indirectly). davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 03:57, 17 May 2013 (UTC)

Faculty at Montgomery Bell Academy
Hello, I just had a few questions about our brief clashes over faculty members on the MBA wiki page. With all due respect, I do not understand your decision to remove these bits from the page, when evidently they are notable individuals in their respective fields. I understand that possibly Scott O'Neal and Tom Boysen could be omitted, but seeing as though Tyler Merideth is a truly world-class conductor, I do not see why that bit of information does not deserve mention on the school page, especially when he teaches at the institution. Again, I truly appreciate your help with the page, and I believe that we can make it as factually accurate in the future together. ~Neos — Preceding unsigned comment added by Neos Sphere (talk • contribs) 05:46, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

List of hospitals in Charlotte
Hi Gtwfan52,
I accidently added Charlotte, North Carolina as a category to the article. I removed that category, thanks for telling me.

Eddie Futch
Hello, Gtwfan52,
Thank you for taking the time to review the Eddie Futch page.
Joe Frazier fought while blind in one eye for most of his career. Please see the following on YouTube starting @ 1:10 mark. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dUQNKb_1xlc
Frazier also describes his injury in his autobiography: http://www.amazon.com/Smokin-Joe-Autobiography-Heavyweight-Champion/dp/002860847X.
Thank you for your time and attention. LawrenceJayM (talk) 01:12, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
- Neither You tube or amazon is a reliable source. When you have a reliable source, then you can put it back. please read WP:RS. Also, please remember to sign your postings on all talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~). Gtwfan52 (talk) 02:19, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
Hello again,
The source I was citing was not amazon.com, but rather a book offerred for sale by them: Smokin' Joe. It was co-authored by Joe Frazier and Phil Berger and published in 1996. Likewise, the film cited is not a YouTube video, but was a Peabody award winning documentary produced and aired by HBO which is a Time-Warner affiliate.
Please advise as to whether or not these are legitimate sources for Wikipedia articles.
Thanks again.

- The book, no, because it is an autobiography and Wikipedia requires independent sources. Can't say on the film. BTW, the youtube link you had originally added has been taken down as a copyright violation. Linking to it would also be a copyright violation. I am unfamiliar with the mechanism for citing information from a TV program and the reliability of such information. Perhaps someone at the teahouse or at the reliable source notice boardcould help you. Gtwfan52 (talk) 03:31, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
I will remedy that promptly.
My question is: where should the additional citations be added? They will include news articles, third party company press releases, and similar materials that are typically files rather than websites, although those also exist. Should they be included as additional references? What works best please? AMKJR 21:04, 26 May 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alkoller (talk • contribs)
- Without knowing what the sources say, I cannot answer that. An approach would be to discuss what the newspaper, etc, article discussed and cite that. Press releases, or articles in publications that are obviously written from press releases will not help. You have to have stuff from independent third party sources like newspapers and magazines. A press release from a client or vendor would not be considered independent. Please read WP:RS. Gtwfan52 (talk) 22:49, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

I've declined your speedy tag on this page. For one thing, it's not nonsense — it's a list of people's names transliterated into English. Moreover, testing is permitted in userspace (that's why we permit user sandboxes), so userspace pages shouldn't be tagged for G2. Nyttend (talk) 21:20, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
Lake Central High School
If we're going to get picky with who we can list as alumni because they need to be linked, then I think many other high school's pages need to be reviewed. Carmel High School lists alumni that arent linked as does many other high schools I've reviewed. Just thought you'd like to have that brought to your attention.
Six Corners
Incorrect. I provided a source, and a reliable one at that. DNAInfo's Chicago section is managed by a great staff with reputations in the industry. People who have come from the Chicago Tribune among other publications. Their managing editor is a former Chicago Sun-Times editor.
Furthermore, if you think about the context of this information: DNAInfo is one of the only publications with a reputation that can report on something as hyperlocal as this type of information/nomenclature.
I respectfully ask that you restore my edit. ~ Cheers — Preceding unsigned comment added by69.218.31.5 (talk) 20:55, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
