A tag has been placed on Henry Oge O'Neill requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Redirects to an entirely different figure than is meant to. Henry Oge O'Neill, son of Conn O'Neill is not Henry McShane [son of Shane] O'Neill. Target has no article hence nowhere to redirect too]

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Irish House of Lords - Reference

[edit]

DearJnestorius. Thank you very much for adding the reference to the Journals of the House of Lords (under External Links). This is a very precious source for many articles. I have used it for Donough MacCarthy, 1st Earl of Clancarty. Unluckily the link is now broken and I have not found another place. Do you? With many thnaks and best regards, Johannes Schade (talk) 09:20, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have fixed the links. The Oireachtas website is annoyingly prone to linkrot. jnestorius(talk) 11:30, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Wonderful! Amazing! I thought it was gone and lost for ever. What is the right action to take to make sure it does not disappear again? Should the pages be saved to the Wayback Machine? Could one submit the PDFs to Internet Archive to add them to their web library? Probably not as it has a "Houses of the Oireachtas" watermark on it. I lack experience with such things. With many thanks and best regards, Johannes Schade (talk) 13:35, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia:LINKROT has general advice. If a URL begins with "opac" it is generally a reference to an OPAC catalogue so the base URL — https://opac.oireachtas.ie/ — is a start point for searching. jnestorius(talk) 15:42, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Jnestorius. Thank you so much for your quick and efficient help. With best regards, Johannes Schade (talk) 16:14, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Constitution of 1782

[edit]

Hi, Jnestorius. The first paragraph of Constitution of 1782 was changed by this edit from a poor paragraph to a bad one. Rather than simply reverting, I am taking the liberty of copying the first paragraph of User:Jnestorius/Constitution of 1782, which you linked to in an earlier discussion on the talk page, and which I think introduces the topic far better. I will, of course, give full attribution. Scolaire (talk) 11:03, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Would you consider becoming a New Page Reviewer?

[edit]
Chart of the New Pages Patrol backlog for the past 6 months. (Purge)

Hi Jnestorius,

I've recently been looking for editors to invite to join the new page reviewing team, and after reviewing your editing history, I think you would be a good candidate. Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; the new page reviewing team needs help from experienced users like yourself.

Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision (if it looks daunting, don't worry, most pages are easy to review, and habits are quick to develop). If this looks like something that you can do, please consider joining us. If you choose to apply, you can drop an application over at WP:PERM/NPR. If you have questions, please feel free to drop a message on my talk page or at the reviewer's discussion board.

Cheers, and hope to see you around, (t · c) buidhe 20:30, 27 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Cresslough: Name.

[edit]

Can I just say that the 'Name' section that you created in the Cresslough article is outstanding. Excellently written and researched, with proper references. An excellent piece of work. Well done. Truly, a great contribution to that article at this tragic time for that wee village. Laggan Boy (talk) 09:33, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Governors of the Isles of Scilly category

[edit]

Hi there, I noticed you recategorised category:Governors of the Isles of Scilly and put it under category:Viceroys of the British monarch, which I would say is a inaccurate categorisation, as the Governor of Scilly has always been whoever leased the islands from the Duchy of Cornwall, so calling the Governor of Scilly a representative of the monarch (viceroy) seems misleading, as they would not of been appointed by the monarch, instead appointed by the Duke of Cornwall (although my knowledge is limited in this area, also, most of what I have read about Scilly is rather vague about the exact situation of the title). I've undone the change, but feel free to discuss this further here or on the category's talk page if you disagree. Have a great day! HenryTemplo 21:17, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, the List of governors of Scilly article was not very clear. I've done some research and updated it accordingly and restored Category:Castle and garrison governors in England (my replacement for Category:Governors in the British Islands). jnestorius(talk) 14:22, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Are you able to help fix the incoming links to FitzGerald Park? I've fixed the templates and some articles which were obvious, mostly to FitzGerald Park, Kilmallock. A tag has been placed on Category:Stolen and missing moon rocks indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Liz Read! @Liz: Randy Kryn has renamed this cat to Category:Stolen and missing Moon rocks; the old name should either be a {{Category redirect}} or else doesn't need to wait seven days to delete. jnestorius(talk) 07:32, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contributions to List of IRA ambushes of the Irish War of Independence. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources and a topic as controversial as this one absolutely need sources. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 00:09, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
