WBA GA
Hey Jameboy, I'll get on to the GA review for WBA as soon as I can. Hope you're enjoying the pasty/cider combo...! The Rambling Man (talk) 09:13, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
- Done. It's a damned good article. I'll promote if you attend to the issues I've raised. But you're not a million miles from FA with this now. Let me know when you want me to look again. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:29, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
- Boom, it's GA. Let me suggest you head for another PR with FA in mind. I think you'll make it without too much trouble. Well done. The Rambling Man 17:59, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- Not a problem. A GA with 100 citations is rare, so it wasn't a big problem! Let me know if you need me to help in your future endeavours. The Rambling Man 19:35, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

WBA Footnotes section
Hi, re your scrolling footnotes, you probably haven't seen WP:CITE#Scrolling lists. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 11:58, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
- Fixed now, thanks for bringing that to my attention. I've fixed Liverpool F.C. similarly. --Jameboy (talk) 12:28, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
German translations
A while back I started to translate VfB Stuttgart, which is an FA on de:, but decided my German wasn't up to it. The German FA process doesn't require the sheer number of inline references that our FA process does, but I think a translation of Stuttgart would get GA fairly easily. Another interesting one would be de:Fußball im Ruhrgebiet, FA there but doesn't have an article here. I keep saying I'll take up German lessons again, but I've been saying that for 3 or 4 years without actually doing so :) Oldelpaso (talk) 19:29, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
- The Stuttgart article on the German wiki seems too long to me. They don't seem to have a good way of splitting out content like on the English wiki. Anyway, I'll have a bash at some translating some of it when I get chance, but it might not be until the New Year... I'm sort of winding down for Christmas with mostly minor edits, giving the grey matter a rest for a bit... --Jameboy (talk) 23:30, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
Hi - I have created an article about Roddy McLeod who played for West Brom in the 1890s. If you have time, could you look over the article and check out the West Brom section. Cheers and best wishes for 2008. -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 05:34, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
- I'll certainly see what I can do once the inevitable hangover has subsided.... have a good 2008 yourself! --Jameboy (talk) 16:33, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Chris Charsley
Hi, I noticed your edit summary of "minor WP:FOOTY fixes, Replaced: image =" on Chris Charsley. Surely there's no project requirement to include the replacement image thingy? thought that sort of thing was down to individual taste. Also, do your books tell you exactly when Mr Charsley played for/was registered with your lot? I've done my best with the chronology of it but am not entirely convinced. Happy new year, cheers, Struway2 (talk) 09:01, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
- Fair point. I've been using the WP:AutoWikiBrowser to make some minor style edits related to the Player infoboxes, principally that (loan) should not be italicized, and that the endash should be used to separate years. These are as per the Wikipedia Football Project Player Manual of Style. I'd added the image replacement thing as an afterthought, but can see that this could be misleading in the cases where that was the only change made. From now on I will either improve the edit summary or carry out the edits separately. Charsley seems well covered in the WBA Who's Who, so I'll see what I can add. --Jameboy (talk) 16:00, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Ron(nie) Fenton
Hi, came across this Ron Fenton stub earlier, added an infobox and some cats, but not added any real detail. I always thought of him as a Ronnie rather than a Ron, though. He was definitely a Ronnie when him and Clough were charged with bungs (haven't added any of that to his stub, either). cheers, Struway2 (talk) 15:45, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- Just looking throught the contributions of Mr Fenton's creator and found a Bobby Hope as well. I've asked the editor on their talk page to consider adding categories so the rest of us can find their work, someone had previously asked the same, as well as showing them how to, so don't know if it'll do any good. Struway2 (talk) 16:05, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Alan Chaplow's sex change
Honestly, he used to be a lady, well he always wore a dress to school anyway. Regards —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.192.149.140 (talk) 22:41, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- Really. That's fascinating. Shame you couldn't provide a source. --Jameboy (talk) 22:45, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Wallwork
No worries. I saw your message somewhere else, and thought I'd just check to see what I could add re:his Bradford career. Looking through it, it looks mostly pretty good. The first necessary changes I noticed would be to amend / cite the following section (particularly the first par).
The following season was not as successful for West Bromwich Albion, but Wallwork still maintained his high standards. In the beginning of the season, Wallwork's form dipped a bit, but then returned to his high standards set in the previous year. He still kept his starting place in the team, as more midfielders came in, such as Nigel Quashie, Junichi Inamoto, Ján Kozák and Diomansy Kamara. However Albion were relegated to The Championship. Although the club were relegated, Wallwork remained part of the West Brom team aiming to bounce back to the Premier League.
With Bryan Robson's dismissal and the subsequent appointment of Tony Mowbray as his successor, Wallwork's days as an Albion player seemed numbered. He joined Barnsley on loan on November 22, 2006 until January 1, 2007 though West Bromwich Albion had a recall option after 28 days.[15] He officially returned on January 1, but was unable to play for some time due to injuries sustained during a stabbing incident.
And finally just add a reference for his reserve comeback following his stabbing. I'm not majorly familiar with Wallwork's career but I can't see or think of any glaring omissions. Peanut4 (talk) 01:53, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
- I've now sorted most of the above problematic statement I believe. I tried to keep to the facts. --Jameboy (talk) 01:31, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- Looks very good now. Good work. Peanut4 (talk) 01:41, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Stats
It looks fine to me. It's just one of those things you can't help if he's had so many loan spells. The one suggestion I would make is if you can align the bold totals with the rest of the data.
As for Antwerp, I'm not sure where to find the data. I've had a look on google and am struggling but I will continue to look. They must exist somewhere, even if it's in the Belgian equivalent of Rothmans!! Peanut4 (talk) 19:12, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- According to this link [1] the second game was in the league. Still trying to find the first game.
- I'm well impressed you found those stats. I couldn't find anything on their website. Top top work. Peanut4 (talk) 21:47, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- Just re-read your message. I guess the 6-0 game was the friendly. According to that same site, Standard Wetteren were in Third Level (Derde Klasse) and Antwerp in Second Level (Tweede Klasse) so that would probably make sense. Peanut4 (talk) 21:55, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- Excellent. Good research some of that. Peanut4 (talk) 22:17, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:BobTaylor.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:BobTaylor.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 04:24, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'm OK for this to be deleted. Now that a free image has been found (albeit a fuzzy one), I guess the fair use claim is invalid. --Jameboy (talk) 18:55, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Hazel
I've double-checked my source about Alfred Hazel and that's exactly what it says - the article is written by a Principal of Jesus College about one of his predecessors, so I would have thought it was reliable. However, I know nothing else about his football career: he doesn't have an entry in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, nor an obituary in The Times to go by (nor does a Times database search for "Albion AND Hazel" throw up anything); a search in the Guardian archive gives an obituary, but no mention of a footballing career therein. So I'll bow to your superior sources! I wonder whether it's either a college story that has improved with the telling over the years (given that he was from West Brom), or whether WBA has been substituted for some lesser club... MfD nomination of Talk:James Cole
Talk:James Cole, a page you created, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Talk:James Cole and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Talk:James Cole during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Govvy (talk) 15:46, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Don't mind if it's deleted (which it already has been by the looks of things). I only created the talk page to tag the article for a WikiProject. --Jameboy (talk) 18:56, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
After checking the article, I cannot figure out why I added the royalty work group to the template. I guess that it was a mistake. I removed it. Sorry about that. Captain panda 00:47, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- No worries, thanks for making the correction. --Jameboy (talk) 00:51, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
Banner shells
It is completely and utterly down to personal preference. Given that page is on my watchlist, I use the banner shell because I find it more accessible to the naked eye. You can revert it if you want, as it is down to personal preference. I think the guideline is: Do not change to a different version from an established version, without discussion. It wasn't established so I changed it. Also, Albert Hall, not very funny. ;) Woody (talk) 01:54, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- I won't revert it, it's fine as it is. So basically, I'll carry on grouping the projects as per my preference, but if I see it done a different way I won't bother changing it to "my" way. Unless one of the methods becomes deprecated of course. --Jameboy (talk) 02:06, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yep, it is down to the people who work on that article really. You approach is the correct and sensible one. Woody (talk) 02:10, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
Certain user
No worries at all. He edits a couple of players on my watchlist so I first spotted them there. When I realised there were scores of them lying around, I've tried to revert his edits to bring into line with policy. I think part of the problem is some articles have it in italics. I've done a few but it's a huge job to bring all into line. I'll probably gradually do it over time!!
Though I agree I reckon he may be trying to make a point, especially when he changed Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Players yesterday to back that very point up. Peanut4 (talk) 13:28, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
Bryan Robson
Hi Jameboy. Your editing of the addition the Bryan Robson is fair enough as I suppose as a SUFC fan I am hardly neutral - the vast majority of fans on SUFC message boards are now calling for his resignation - so I thought it was a valid point to make. Are you a baggie's fan by the way and if so, what was Robbo like for you?

Hey, thanks for your edits to PR. Do you have any comments you might wish to raise at the FAC? I'd appreciate anything you would like to add! Cheers. The Rambling Man (talk) 14:25, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Jameboy, thanks for your comments at the FAC, I've responded to each of them. Cheers! The Rambling Man (talk) 11:08, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- I've responded back. I intend to support once you've read these. Cheers. --Jameboy (talk) 16:02, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- Cheers, read and dealt with the flood issue... for the moment... Thanks for everything so far! The Rambling Man (talk) 22:14, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Morning! Thanks for your support. I hope you don't mind but I'll hide away the comments which have been resolved so neaten the FAC up a bit. One thing, getting a review from outside WP:FOOTBALL would be a great idea but these FACs don't seem to attract a lot of attention. They're listed with all the others so it's not like we're hiding them from anyone. Sometimes you get a "neutral" passer-by which is always very handy but people do seem to stick to what they (think they) know at FAC! Cheers again. Second account
Hmm. I had my suspicions too. I think you're right. Peanut4 (talk) 22:16, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
BD-SORT
Hi, I hadn't come across it either before its use on Garry Pendrey came up on my watchlist, but I was uncomfortable about it for two reasons. One, replacing the magic word DEFAULTSORT, which works for catsorting any article, by a template specially for biog articles just to avoid writing out a couple of cats, (in my opinion) just adds a unnecessary level of confusion. Two, the talk page had recent comments with concerns as to whether it worked properly, and although I don't know one way or the other whether the concerns are well-founded, I went with the if it wasn't broke, don't fix it approach, hence the unnecessary change edit summary. Might be wrong, though :-) cheers, Struway2 (talk) 00:03, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
Incomplete reference
Thanks for catching that. We all slip up now and then. ;) Feezo (Talk) 05:42, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Hey Jameboy, saw you just tagged this as part of the England taskforce. Fancy giving me some feedback? I really want to get this article featured and I'm prepared to do almighty work to get it there but at the moment, it's looking pretty sound for a WP:FL. I'd be glad to hear from you at the PR! Cheers! The Rambling Man (talk) 21:54, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- I've left some thoughts, hope some of it is of use. --Jameboy (talk) 01:14, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for those Jameboy, I've taken the plunge and listed it at Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of Ipswich Town F.C. statistics and records so if you have anything further you'd like to add then go for it. All the best, The Rambling Man (talk) 18:19, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- I've added the data you're looking for. I'm just being cautious not to let the whole article become simple trivia! Hope that's enough for you! The Rambling Man (talk) 20:27, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Gold stars
Thanks Jameboy! ITFC is now at WP:FTC should be interested in casting your eye over the collection. Feel free to drop me a line for reviewing any of the WBA articles you wish to get up to featured status. All the best.. The Rambling Man (talk) 13:07, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Hi Jameboy, George Lee was my grandfather and he did not have a middle name, so the book must be wrong! Many thanks for updating the page and adding all that info, it's great. Rickylee32 (talk) 19:15, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

I have no objections if you want to move the page, thanks for letting me know. Crickettragic (talk) 01:22, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
