J Stanton

I'm afraid all I have on Stanton is his position, his previous club and number of goals and appearances. Apparently he played as a half-back (although he made his debut for Newton Heath as a centre-forward), and he joined Newton Heath from West Bromwich Albion in 1885. He only made three competitive appearances, all in the Manchester & District Challenge Cup; he played at right-half in the first round against Eccles, then in the semi-finals against Hurst and in the final against Manchester. He also made 10 friendly appearances - nine as a half-back and one as a centre-forward - and scored three goals against Macclesfield, Crewe Britannia and Southport Central. His appearance record is as follows:

Date Competition Opposition Venue Result Position Goals scored
29 August 1885 Friendly Crewe Alexandra Home L 1–3 9 0
12 September 1885 Friendly Kearsley Away W 11–2 5 0
19 September 1885 Friendly Blackburn Olympic XI Home L 3–4 6 0
26 September 1885 Friendly Bolton Wanderers Swifts Home L 0–3 5 0
10 October 1885 Friendly Macclesfield Away W 4–3 5 1
31 October 1885 Friendly Crewe Britannia Home W 3–1 5 1
7 November 1885 Friendly Darwen & District Home D 1–1 6 0
12 December 1885 Friendly West Manchester Home W 1–0 4 0
19 December 1885 Manchester & District Challenge Cup First Round Eccles Home W 2–0 4 0
16 January 1886 Friendly Macclesfield H D 3–3 4 0
30 January 1886 Friendly Southport Central H W 4–0 6 1
13 March 1886 Manchester & District Challenge Cup Semi-final Hurst Tetlow Fold, Salford W 3–1 4 0
3 April 1886 Manchester & District Challenge Cup Final Manchester Whalley Range W 2–1 4 0

Hope that's enough for you. If you need any more specifics about his Newton Heath career, I'll see what I can find. –PeeJay 16:13, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

League positions

Hi, on Burnley F.C. season 1920-21 the league positions in the table are sourced to the same book as the results themselves. In the book, the position is given after each match so I can't really help you with the West Brom ones, sorry. Cheers, -- BigDom 11:14, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

If you're looking for league positions on any particular matchday in an English league season, have a look atstatto.com. For example, this page will let you see the positions at the end of any day in the 2009–10 Premier League season. – PeeJay00:48, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
I'm not sure if it's considered reliable, but since all of those tables are created using simple mathematical calculations, I can't imagine anyone would argue with their fact-checking. – PeeJay 01:00, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

I think it would have to be performed by bot. It's certainly a pointless parameter, though, and I'm glad you agree. –PeeJay 11:43, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Nomination for deletion of Template:Khonkaen F.C.

How do you know Khon Kaen Province is not part of the topic? Khon Kaen Province is a location of Khonkaen F.C.. but it's ok because you're a foreigner. You should study more about Thailand.--Kanzaki Jiro (talk) 02:39, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Well, if you really want to delete it, then please do it.

Reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing aa two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:32, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Do you still plan to review this? It's been almost three weeks since you first tagged it. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 04:36, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

At this point, I don't mind if you take your time. I am in the WP:CUP and have enough points to advance to the next round. I would prefer if it were not promoted until after the 29th.--TonyTheTiger(T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 21:58, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
No probs, I will continue my review accordingly - hopefully should be posted before Thursday 24th but I'll make sure there's enough fixes required to keep you busy until the 29th. :-) --Jameboy (talk) 22:33, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Further to the above, I am taking a wikibreak until at least October. Sorry that I wasn't able to complete the review, but I notice it is GA now anyway. Hopefully when I come back I will be able to give these types of review my full attention but right now it isn't possible. Apologies once again. --Jameboy (talk) 16:46, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

As the West Brom expert, can you help with the query I posted at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football#Graham Lovett? Cheers. Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 05:18, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi, in the 'Top goalscorers' table of this article Tony Brown is listed as having 574 League apps and 218 goals, which ties with the information on the Neil Brown site. However the 'Most appearances' table has different figures for him for a number of different competitions. Also, Ronnie Allen is shown in the lower table with 458 total appearances which would mean he should be in the Top 10 appearances table, but he is not listed there. Can you help to clarify these queries? Thanks. Eldumpo (talk) 17:29, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for spotting those, I have re-checked the sources I used and found that the errors were mine alone. I've fixed those specific instances and will try to re-check the other stats in that article when I get a chance. If you spot any other discrepancies in the meantime, please let me know. Cheers. --Jameboy (talk) 18:36, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for responding and I note you've made some changes to the article. However, there is still a small discrepancy for the two sets of Tony Brown figures in the two tables, as the lower ones are said to be including sub apps, whilst in the upper table they are denoted separately i.e. the top table shows 587 league apps in total whereas Neil Brown is 574 and these include sub apps. Also, I couldn't see how Brown played in 45 'Other' games based on the criteria in Footnote D, as there didn't seem to have been enough games in his time at the club to reach that number. Is it possible thatAnglo-Scottish Cup and Watney Cup appearances are also included? Regards. Eldumpo (talk) 10:50, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
Sorry, ignore my first point above, I realise you're saying that the sub apps are included in the total, and are just being listed for completeness. Eldumpo (talk) 10:54, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
You are correct, I hadn't included the full competition criteria. I have re-checked the sources and fixed that in the footnote. I still need to re-check all the stats more thoroughly (to ensure that the aggregated totals referenced in the source material tally with seasonal/competition stats) but that will take some time. --Jameboy(talk) 23:38, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

United Counties League

Hello. This non-reliable source gives results and league tables for the 1893/94 northern section and for the unfinished 94/95 season, although it doesn't seem to know there was a southern West-Mids section and a final for 93/94, and Stoke City site gives their results. As you can see from the references in 1893–94 Small Heath F.C. season#United Counties League Southern Section, I had to go through the newspapers for any information at all, Mr Matthews not giving it a mention in his "Complete" Record. So between all that, we do have full dates and scores for both seasons, and the 1893-95 United Counties League is notable enough. There seem to have been several United Counties or United Leagues before the formation of the current UCL, so even if there wasn't a great deal of information on this particular incarnation, it could still be the start of a multi-purpose article along the lines of The Combination or Midland Football League. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 11:44, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
