help regarding User:Callmederek
I have been informed about your comment at WP:ANI [1] which has been moved to the top of Archive376. I have not been removing the acronyms. If you check my user contributions [2] I have been ensuring that the only contents of Category:Military acronyms are the acronyms themselves. For example "MASINT" is an acronym, and the redirect page at MASINT was categorized by me [3]. I then removed the target page from the category [4] because "Measurement and Signature Intelligence" is not an acronym, just the name from which the acronym is derived. Someone who goes to the category page and wants to know what the acronym means now has only one choice of page, but before there were five MASINT pages, so this way a user has less ambiguity.
I had previously done the same with the Category:Acronyms which Military acronyms is a subset of. It makes sense to me that a category called Acronyms should only contain acronyms. It is simple to do because redirects can also be categorised. It is a bit like removing The Lord of the Rings (the book) from the films category. Although films have been made from the book, the book itself should not be categorised as a film. Callmederek (talk) 12:13, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Help with the Puma Swede article
Can you create the wiki for me? GoPuma (talk) 13:41, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Huggle User Category
Hi there. I have seen that you use huggle by the fact that you have automatically updated the huggle white list(it does this when closing huggle). I was wondering if you would add the category [[Category:Wikipedians who use Huggle]] to your user page so that it fills out and we know who actually uses huggle. If you do not want to you do not have to. I am also sorry if i have already talked to you about this or you no longer use huggle but i sent it to everyone that has edited the page since mid January. I hope we can start to fill out this category. If you would like to reply to this message then please reply on my talk page as i will probably not check here again. Thanks. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 18:27, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

I changed the speedy cat to simply "talk page of deleted article" so as not to give any more reaction to vandalism than is necessary. If they're going to vandalize, we should make it very boring and impersonal for them -- to the extent policy allows. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 18:24, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
- It needs {{db-talk}} for pages like that. If no one had edited anything in bad faith on it, it would still get that tag. It's useful; Huggle whould look into this... - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 18:30, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Protection
No problem. I've just declined protection of your userpage, by the way, on the grounds that there is not enough activity at this time to justify protection. As the request was placed by another user, my response would be different if you were to request protection (as users are free to request protection of their userpages if they wish). Report to AIV
Hi, I reviewed the report of XuxiRawe22 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) and saw no obvious vandalism. A third party also concurred. Can you check your report and remove or comment as appropriate? Thanks. LessHeard vanU (talk) 21:56, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
- No problem. Per WP:AGF it always best to give benefit of the doubt - all wikipedia requires is that information is verifiable, not complete with citation - and there will always be another patroller around to check it out. LessHeard vanU (talk) 12:49, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- For future use, just use the "edit this page" option - as you would any page - highlight the text and press delete. Just then leave a note in the summary. The report, and removal, remains in the page history but since the page is so active it gets quickly buried. You are not the first, and won't be the last, to file a report that needs removing. Cheers. LessHeard vanU (talk) 17:19, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, cool. I asked you to remove it as politeness; just removing it might appear a bit abrupt - also you may have more knowledge about the vandal account and could point to previous "suspect" edits, or similar. I am aware that some vandals do "subtle" edits, wrong info that looks legit, so that is another reason to ask when I don't see it as obvious. LessHeard vanU (talk) 17:39, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

The original header for this section was "Why do the Las Vegas area casinos say they are in Paradise, Nevada?". I truncated it so that me TOC doesn't take up half of my page width. Please don't vandalize talk pages or attack users in any way
Hi J.delanoy,
I'm sure you are a good editor on Wikipedia, so don't take this personally please. I noticed on Talk:David A. Paterson, that you wrote the comment seen here. I could not after 1 minute of ponder see any conceivable good reason that this was a helpful or non-sarcastic argument (That may violate WP:AGF but seriously). Please refrain from doing things like that. I have no beef with you; just wanted to caution, since that kind of thing is against policy, and someone will most likely be extremely upset if you do that to them.
Take care ~ GoldenGoose100 (talk) 04:03, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
- Ah ha! See I told you about that WP:AGF. lol. I hesitated there as you seemed to not be a vandal - just maybe it was one of those days. I didn't see that s/he wrote support in that previous edit. Maybe if you don't like removing things from talk pages, you can do that cross out feature? I don't even know how to do that, maybe you do. Sorry if I was too harsh in almost assuming that you were vandalizing.More careful review of that edit would have helped, my bad. And thanks for not taking offense to my comment; some people, namely TennisExpert, blow up at me with hotheads - what can you do. Long live wikipedia, and have a great day

Can I ask for your help again? The article is already 84 kb long and the length warning appears. But there is a lot of information that needs adding. Some of the most important issues such as
- Churchill's involvement in the creation of Iraq (about which there is one new book published in 2007 and others in the last few years, there are 387000 google hits for Winston Churchill + Iraq)
- Churchill's role in the service cuts in the 1920s (a background to his campaign for rearmament -and why the service chiefs did not support it).
have not been dealt with at all and others such as his role in the General Strike and the rearmament need a lot of expansion Might it be better to cut the article in two so we have Winston Churchill in politics 1900-1922 and Winston Churchill in politics 1923-1939. This would be a good break in that the first covers his ascent, the war and the aftermath of the war, the second his return to the Conservatives, their distrust and his gradual separation from the main stream of politics. Concern over AIV report
Hello. Your recent WP:AIV report of 64.33.161.12 (talk · contribs) concerns me. The IP's last edit was at 14:22, with however you issued a level 2 warning at 14:53, level 3 at 14:54, level 4 at 14:54, then reported the IP to AIV at 14:54 ... all 32 minutes after the IP stopped editing. Escalating levels of warnings are supposed to be issued if an editor ignores the previous warning and persists in vandalism, rather than being slapped on all at once. Likewise AIV criteria #2 states that the vandal "must be active now," which was clearly not the case for this report. --Kralizec! (talk) 20:07, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

List of Characters in Frisky Dingo Reversion
Read this: "Sinn eventually went gay for Val, who killed Sinn in order to gain control of the Deceptacles and the Annhilatrix.
Deceased."
My edit was productive for the following reasons: 1. Grammar. 2. "Went gay?" Are you kidding me? That's very encyclopedic. No, it is... really. 3. Spelling. "Annhilatrix?" Why don't we change the spelling of Sinn to Cinn, like Cinnamon, while we're at it. If you can't spell the names of main characters and plot driving devices, you don't have any business typing them in the first place. 4. Deceased doesn't follow the structure of the article. We haven't done that for other characters, and there's no reason to start now. Further, we just pointed out that Val kills Sinn. Redundant.
If I need to read the introduction to editing, you definitely need to read about cleanup and quality standards.
The discussion page can't handle a detailed explanation of every edit, and that is not the place for it. Minor changes (this was a very minor change) should not be mentioned. I will not cover every minor change in the talk page, nor am I obligated to.
How about you mind your own and let other people tweak and improve Wikipedia?

This is odd
This reversion [5] was fine, but the edit summary is wrong (and not exactly complimentary to me!) - there were three edits, not two: one by the vandal, my revert thereof, and a second by the vandal. Can you recall which vandalism you were trying to revert? It looks as though you saw the same one I did, chose to revert, I beat you to it, your anti-vandal tool cooked up an edit summary, and then the vandal got a second one in before your revert took. Philip Trueman (talk) 18:21, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- I'm telling you this because I think you have a bug in your anti-vandal tool that should be addressed. Philip Trueman (talk) 18:27, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Shroud of Turin
What about my edit was 'unconstructive'? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ara6012 (talk • contribs) 15:07, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
The fire occurred during the middle ages.
FACT: The shroud was subjected to intense heat at low oxygen in 1532.
Dr. Dimitri Kouznetsov of the Sedov Biopolymer Research Laboratory in Moscow has conducted experiments on the accuracy of radiocarbon dating of samples previously exposed to intense heat. Dr. Kouznetsov acquired an ancient linen cloth with origin in Israel, radiocarbon dated to 200 CE. The cloth was exposed to intense heat in the presence of silver, after which it radiocarbon dated 1400 years later! Dr. Kouznetsov attributes this to biofractionalization and the chemical bonding, under heat, of extrinisic C14 to the linen. I will qualify that there are those who question Dr. Kouznetsov's scientific expertise and methodology.

Thanks for reverting vandalism here; however, I don't think the current level of vandal activity merits re-protection, but I do have the page watchlisted in case another bout develops. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 18:03, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Yarbitrage was most certainly not patent nonsense. It was an earnest, if not misguided, attempt. It's not a good idea to simply slap a speedy cat on something just to get rid of it. We need to be consistent so new users take us seriously. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 15:32, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to Women in the Victorian era: You may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit was inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. StaticGull Talk 16:46, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Rollback
I have noticed rollback....but am not sure exactly what it is...
I do have a question for you, is there something you can add into a template (like how you can add in what the article was with "|article" that indicates the specific edit? I've seen it been done a lot (and quickly too) but haven't found anything like that yet. Shinpah1 (talk) 21:30, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
For example: User talk:96.237.8.51.....The warning here has a link to the specific edit that was made, where it says "recent edit". I'm trying to figure out if this is something that can be added into the template, or has to be manually typed in....(or if you're not using templates at all and are typing everything out...that would be intense). I also forget how to indent edits.... Shinpah1 (talk) 21:52, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Discussion
Hi I recently added a discussion to a user's page. I know it may have been inappropriate and immature, but the guy has been editing the St. Josephs High School (Saskatoon) and adding alot of rubbish. Everything about the school and zulu program is true but he feels the need to add alot of lies. I know what i did whas wrong but it was out of frustration.
Reported
I have now reported Sebastian93 for vandalism to Jeff Gordon and other NASCAR related articles.(Rhinostampede (talk) 22:38, 23 March 2008 (UTC))
Hi! I am not trying to vandalize any pages. I blanked some pages redirects pertaining to the same person to facilitate a name change move. I reported a false positive to the bot also.
Please advise. Pluswhich (talk) 00:06, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Rollback warning
Please note that rollback should only be used to revert clear and obvious vandalism. This revert was not clear and obvious vandalism, and should have been reverted the usual way, leaving an edit summary. Rolling an edit back is a way of saying "I think that edit was so worthless that it does not even justify a reason for reverting". Stifle (talk) 13:58, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- You are absolutely correct. I have apologized on the talk page of the user in question and I removed the warning. As you may have guessed if you looked at my contribs, I am using an automated tool to revert vandalism. I am not trying to justify my error, I am simply saying that I see so much vandalism that sometimes I lose focus. I am working on finding a happy medium where I can revert vandalisms quickly and efficiently without making errors. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Regards, J.delanoygabsadds 15:56, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- Also, I just read the thing about 3RR's that you linked to near the top of this page, and I have a question. Around the time that Kosovo declared independence, there was no set rule on Wikipedia about whether things were in Kosovo or Serbia. As a result, IPs (I assume from Serbia, never actually checked) kept changing articles that said "Country: Kosovo" to "Country: Serbia". Because the US recognized Kosovo as an independent country, and basically the entire western world, and all English speaking countries I knew of at least didn't say outright that they would not recognize Kosovo, I reverted people many, many times changing the articles back to "Country: Kosovo". Since then, I believe the ArbCom has issued an injunction to stop the edit wars. I was never called out for my reverts, nor was I mentioned in the ArbCom ruling. Indeed, I started a thread at the Village Pump to try to draw up a preliminary guideline. (I think that the ArbCom ruling was the end result of that discussion) What I am asking is, by continually reverting those articles in the absence of any consensus, do you think I was revert-warring? Hey (Hello). I don't remember how your talk page got on my watchlist, but it did. Probably something to do with cleaning up vandalism. I'll continue to keep an eye out for your next nomination. I'll second it. I've reviewed your edit history, and I find it commendable. I think you'd make a very good admin. I don't hang out on WP:RFA too much, so please drop me a line when you decide to accept a nomination. Just a reminder that rollback should only be used to revert the most obvious vandalism. For everything else you should still do a manual revert with a proper edit summary. An edit summary would have been appropriate on this revert, for example. Thanks! Stifle (talk) 11:59, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
