Is the page looking any better? JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 20:03, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Certainly! I hate the cover, it looks really fanmade. I know it's the official cover, but... NO! lol -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 20:08, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- I wish I could find a better one but I don't think I know where one is I think the composition needs more information. Can you do that? JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 20:19, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Does the new pic look any better? JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 20:46, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Never mind I'm having it deleted mine got hit as soon as it got added but the original that got added didn't get hit for the same thing. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 21:20, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- It's confusing me! AH! I added the link like the guy wanted and he didn't remove what he claimed. Is it okay if I remove since I did what was asked? JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 21:27, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Hey about what I asked when it came to the compositions I'm not sure how you go about doing that? JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 13:33, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
- Don't stress. Whoever handles the Speak Now articles is sure to revamp this one. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 15:37, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
- okay. Does the pic look any better? JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 16:20, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
- Can you do me a favor? Can you check the composition section and see what you think. I looked at the one that was used for both "Mean" and "The Story of Us" but I'm not 100% certain I got it right I did get the key right but I'm not 100% sure I got the octaves right. But if you could check it out and see if looks alright and what not that'd be great! JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 02:26, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, they're good. Now you have to put the tempo. The article seems evolved. Also, put Canada above the US on the charts section. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 02:44, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks I'm trying to learn this as best as I can. Now I do got a question one that's been bothering me for awhile now. As far as reviews go I've always felt it's wrong to give fan speculated reviews but most of the ones you find are. So is it okay to post those or not? Asking this mainly cause of a problem that happened on the List of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated episodes as we are having problems finding a reference to the sneak peak that aired all we can find are fan made reviews and the one posted was removed because it didn't fit something I figured it'd happen but still. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 03:25, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
- No that is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 15:14, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
- I didn't think so. But I've noticed all the reviews are that on every song almost none are from like CMT or the New York Times, etc. You know what I mean? JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 01:40, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

No, I have no idea what you mean. Reviews must be newspapers, magazines, and credible and respected sites, not fans or blogs, whichever page that does the latter is just simply wrong. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 01:45, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
- I've seen several that have used blogs, and fan made reviews. For example if you look on the "Sparks Fly" page right now all those pages to me are not correct but several of them were posted by an IP address. Speaking of I'm on the verge of giving up on that page. That IP user is driving me and ending bazurk because they keep posting that digital download that is available from the "Speak Now" digital download and they won't stop posting it. I'm about to just abandon the page and the IP user vandalize it. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 02:05, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry, but the IP isn't wrong on that. It is available for digital download. However, additions of blogs and fan reviews on "Sparks Fly" should definitely be removed. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 02:37, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
- I was told by ending because the single itself wasn't released as a digital download it shouldn't be posted cause the link that's been giving goes straight to the iTunes page for Speak Now. I'm only going by what he told me. I can try and remove reviews but I don't know if all of it should go or some of it. Cause to me all of them are fan made and not done by an actual magazine or anything cause the references go to blogs or fan made the only one that isn't is the Rolling Stones one. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes)
- I got a feeling that the IP user is gonna revert all it back so if they do I'm giving up and letting them control it cause I really don't have time to mess with them. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 03:09, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not saying I own the page I do a lot of the contribution to it but other then that I usually go by either what I've been told by users or correct errors, etc. I know I make mistakes and I'm not perfect but I look up to those who have been on here longer then me so I can learn. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 03:22, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

Taylor and Kanye
[edit]I don't remember where but I could've sworn I'd seen it on Yahoo that Kanye and Taylor did performances that were about the 2009 VMA incident? I found the performance for the 2010 VMA of Innocent but didn't Kanye do one that had to do with Taylor? JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 06:42, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, his "Runaway" performance. It isn't directly related to her, but it;'s about him being a douche. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 06:45, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- OH! LOL! Well I posted about it on the Taylor Swift page just about her performance of "Innocent" and that was it. I watched the VMA's when that happened and he is a douche that's for sure for what he did. Also what the heck is this discussion about? Talk:Speak_Now#SYN:_Total_sales I withdrew my statement and have decided to stay out of it but I'm not understanding why it's a discussion in the first place. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 08:17, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Taylor Swift Karaoke Series
[edit]I just wanted to ask before I did anything should those be included on the album page as they are in the "Hannah Montana" soundtracks? All three for Taylor Swift, Fearless, and Speak Now were released by her and Big Machine Records. Now I'm not going to add them if you don't think it's necessary but I just thought cause the HM soundtracks included them Taylor should as she and her record label released them. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 07:44, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
- No, do not add them. Neither should have them. Since their vocals aren't on it, it is not their discography. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 15:12, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
- Actually that's not true at least not on the karaoke one for her debut album. I own it and on the DVD you get 3 audio options. One with Taylor's vocals, one with just the background vocals and one that's just instrumental. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 02:56, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
- Nevertheless, it's not her own release. It is the label's. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 03:02, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
- Oh. I didn't know there was a difference. Learn something new everyday. LOL! I figured cause they were released by her label and she promotes them on her site she didn't mind it. I guess there's always some difference lol. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 03:05, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
Hey
[edit]File:Taylor Swift - Fearless.png That image is a fan made one I've seen that image before it's the original promotional single image but the date for the Fearless album release was removed. Where'd you get that? Cause if you found it somewhere it's a fake I've only seen that image used for the promotional single that was released by iTunes but not anywhere else. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 09:07, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
- http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/ciu/7c/a3/1a52c0a398a09d51f079d110.L.jpg That is the original promotional single that was released to iTunes back when it was promoting Fearless. Question
[edit]Okay this was on the Sparks Fly page: (Undid revision 441643933 by JamesAlan1986 (talk) My God! You're the one vandalizing this page! Don't you have anything better else to do? My God the nerve! What's wrong with you?) by User:Amynan. I removed what you had told me was not suppose to be on there and they were posted by an IP user. Sound like sock puppetry to you? By the way I'm done I'm abandoning the page I've had it. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 02:53, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

Question 2
[edit]Would this be a good review for Sparks Fly as it's on Vh1? JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 17:29, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
- I don't know. I think it is posted, by a fan. If it is, then no. If it's not, then I guess. But it is better to stay away from those website, find magazine and newspaper reviews. There are lots of them for Speak Now and many discuss "Sparks Fly". -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 17:50, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
- Okay. I think I won't use it. I did find that Jonathan Keefe of Slant Magazine wrote an article reveiw on Country Universe about "Sparks Fly" but it's not a magazine place. He's been used several times but I'm still not sure if it's okay just cause he's a writer for a magazine but yet the review's not on the magazine site but another site: http://www.countryuniverse.net/2011/07/12/single-review-taylor-swift-sparks-fly/ What do you think? Teardrops on My Guitar
[edit]I was checking the page out and happened to notice nothing was mentioned about the radio edit. The 2006 version is playing as the sample but the official version is the radio edit. I'm confused about that... JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 05:41, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
- Also when I posted the EP it's correct as I had it. The page if you look doesn't cite the first track as the "album version" and it's actually three minutes and fourteen seconds. I posted as what is shown on the page. I notice you were the one who changed that but it was cited correctly I just messed up on the reference posting lol. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 05:47, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
- Relax. The album version is fine. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 16:24, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
I'm fine I was relaxed I was just saying. lol! I just wanted to point out that it's not the album version. I listened to the sample on the link it sounds like the pop version but I'm not sure. Divas
[edit]Sure does. Its there, in her albums discography. Look at the bottom :)--CallMeNathan • Talk2Me 06:35, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
- Very simply because it is not a Mariah Carey release. Its a video that features her for like a fifth of it. So it can't be placed with her own releases.--CallMeNathan • Talk2Me 06:46, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
- You're right. It should definitely be. It just never came up in the FLC so I never did it. Good for you to do though, because the promotions were almost a year ago, and things are stricter now.--CallMeNathan • Talk2Me 06:54, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

You're constant corrections
[edit]If you check here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/youre-not-sorry-csi-remix/id307056209 the remix is called and I quote "You're Not Sorry (CSI Remix) - SINGLE" so to sit and say it isn't is wrong! It was released prior to the episode she appeared in which and it was used to PROMOTE it cause if you go the episodes page "Turn, Turn, Turn" the episode aired later that night. So to post it as a promotional single is correct since the reference states that it is a single. Also your correction on "Teardrops on My Guitar" about the cover is also wrong seeing as "Love Story (Taylor Swift song)" also post it. JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 11:00, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
- I check around on a lot of things before I post them and see what has and hasn't been posted before. Also I bought a copy of the remix the day it came out and I knew it was promoting her appearance on CSI. It was posted on TaylorSwift.com a long time ago course it's gone now since it's old news. But I do know about these things. I'd be a poor Taylor Swift fan if I didn't. JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 11:09, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
- I added it "Love Story" because there was sufficient information on different covers, to have a section with one sentence about 'Kidz Bop seems completely insane. Also, I know that the remix is available for digital download, but since it is a remix it should not be listed in her discography page. It goes under the umbrella of "You're Not Sorry" overall. You don't see re-releases of singles or remix EPs listed on discography pages. It would be like listing "Today Was a Fairytale" as a promo single twice because it was released twice. You see. I'm not trying to be mean here, just trying to thoroughly explain the reasons behind my edits. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 17:00, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
Not to be mean but that's least of my concerns right now, I'm jumping up with joy cause Swift just announced a CD single for Sparks Fly! WHOO-HOO!!!! YAY! LOL! JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 17:16, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
- Hahaha! :) I'm kind of mad because it's gonna be a live video instead of real music video -.- -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 17:23, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
Oh I know! I was so mad when I found that out yesterday! I really would've loved to have seen how she'd have pulled it off. It's one of my favorite songs on the album! She could've done better with it. It premieres today on her official site. JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 17:26, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

I won't get to see her in concert. :( Oh check my main page I'm showing my Taylor Swift collection. It's gonna grow of course I recently just ordered the UK deluxe edition of Speak Now and I'm of course gonna order the new CD-Single. XD lol! JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 17:36, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
- Sparks Fly (song) how's it coming along? JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 17:49, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
- Wow, you order all the editions of her albums. I just have one edition of each. Also, you could go on eBay and get her previous singles if you want to expand your collection. And the page is certainly growing. How come your not seeing her in concert? -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 18:04, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
Actually I bought them all when they came out lol! I'd love to get my hands on the Mine CD single that's the only one I really want since I'm getting the UK deluxe edition of Speak Now and I'll be ordering the Sparks Fly CD single this Friday I'm sure. lol! She's never really comes anywhere near Dayton that is drivable with the car we (me and my significant other) have so it's hard to go see her. Can you check that and edit the references and what nots since you're better at it then I am lol! JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 18:14, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

Need help
[edit]I got an issue going on with the Sparks Fly (song) page and I need your help. Some edits are posting the video in Music Video section when it suppose to be in the live performance section like the Fearless music video is. Can you help me keep an eye on that? I actually feel bad cause I thought we had a good one. The sad thing about Sparks Fly is it's had very little promotion and it's really hard to find a source that'll say what genre it is without having so much word confusion you know? JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 17:30, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
- Why'd you ask me to comment on that LOL! I was one of the ones who supported the move LOL! JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 17:35, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
- Try and find album reviews from Speak Now that mention. There's at least 10 to 15. And, yeah, but maybe you hadn't seen that :p -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 17:45, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
Then why don't you post one then :p! lol I been looking at a lot of the reviews used on the Speak Now page and 90% don't mention "Sparks Fly" at all (surprisingly) and the only one that I found does calls it an "uptempo tune" and that's not a genre lol. JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 17:59, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
- This is the only review I can find and it pretty much calls it a country pop song. JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 18:55, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

Hey Nano
[edit]You missed these to: Picture to Burn and Should've Said No. Those two aren't GA's yet and they look horribly vandalized. JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 13:03, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
- I was just watching the "On the Set" with Taylor Swift: Picture to Burn which is on the Beautiful Eyes DVD and there's some great information on there. One I thought was cool was that when she pulled up in the Mustang for the shoot, (which was stick and neither Taylor OR Abigail knew how to drive stick, learned that too lol!), "Picture to Burn" was playing on the radio in the Mustang. Also at the end during the credit Swift also points out and I think I'm quoting this right: "So in the end, I snap out of it, and it turns out that I become the bigger person and drive away. And all that's left in the dust of my car is a burning picture. Hints the title 'Picture to Burn'." JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 13:50, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
- Umm, yeah I'm aware. I'm actually currently working on PTB. And I've seen the behind the scenes. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 16:12, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
Okay, when I posted that it was prior to my awareness that you knew. LOL! I did some minor editing on there (copy-editing and grammatic fixes) and I just figured out how to use the Reflinks on here so I used it on that page and I think "Should've Said No" I can't really recall, been off and on sleeping lol! Hi, I just had a quick question about your nomination of this article for deletion. I noticed that immediately after you nominated it, you notified 10 editors who (as far as I can tell) had not previously been involved with the article. Is there a particular reason you notified those editors? -- Lear's Fool 23:59, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
- They are highly involved in music articles and, with their experience, they could really argue with support to reach consensus. They also comment frequently on music-related deletion discussions. Nothing other than that. Why? -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 00:21, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

I know this is probably stupid to bring up now but I just wanted to show you why I was adding the digital download on the page. It was brought up in a discussion by me on here and I was pretty much given the OK to post anything that should be noted on it, eg like how I kept posting that the bonus track edition of the album was made available for digital download on the Taylor Swift (album) page. She is amazing. That isn't the first time she's done great with something like that. That one live performance she did of Love Story on an award show (she was sick at the time) she hit the microphone on the edge of the the stair prop and just kept singing, didn't even act like it had happened. But the sad thing is even though it was an accident that's gonna be all over the news for a while. :( JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 04:13, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, don't worry... Even if it does get on MTV and E! News and whatever, they WILL make sure to mention how well she handled. And does it really matter? She didn't do anything wrong. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 04:21, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
Nothing's wrong with it other then it's like Weird Al Yankovic says in his parody of You Belong with Me, TMZ, that they'll make it bad Taylor (I'm thinking about the line where he says "First on the scene for every wardrobe fail"). You know the media does that. And I'm a big supporter of her and I just worry they'll try to destroy her cause of that. JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 16:59, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- Haha! how coincidental. Obviously I'm a big supporter of her two, but learn to laugh about those stupid things. Nothing's gonna happen. If anything, people are gonna love her more because of how well she handled it. If it was for that, Janet Jackson would be crying in a ditch. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 17:20, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
I know that was just messed up especially as she was singing "You Belong with Me" when that happened can we say weird coincidence? True about that. She is awesome. Nice job with Picture to Burn. It looks a LOT better. JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 17:32, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Someone is asking here about changing the genre on Speak Now can you give your opinion on this? JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 03:12, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
Taylor was featured in that song. She did the same thing as Colbie Caillat did for Breathe. I noticed on the original Fearless Caillat isn't credited at first but when Platinum Edition is released she is I have no idea why but I feel that since Taylor was featured in both the song and the video for Best Days of Your Life it should be posted on her discography As Featured Artist as it was released as a single. Is there any way you can add it to the Taylor's discography cause I cannot for the life of me figure out how to...Please and thanks. JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 07:20, 27 August 2011 (UTC)

I'm very disappointed in you nano. You're smart. You should have common knowledge and common sense would say that something isn't right when claiming Swift is only "background vocals" in Best Days of Your Life. If she was just meant to be background vocals she wouldn't have been "featured" in the music video. No artist does that unless it's a live performance video or they want their choreographed in (though there are some I don't think are really the actual background vocalist and more actors (eg. "Why Haven't I Heard From You" by Reba McEntire has choreographed but it's questionable that they are her actual background vocalist.) This is why I'm leaving Wikipedia forever. No one uses common sense or common knowledge on here, it's their personal opinions and screw everyone else. I hope you won't fall down this path and that someone will stop this mess. I've always been told that you can't relay on Wikipedia to give you good information cause it's all made by people who give their own personal opinions and that'd you'd be better off going to an official website or documentary to get the information you want and I came on here hoping to change that but I can't. So I hope someone will. Have a good one. JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 12:24, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

Flickr has only 8 images!? Did you send Flickrmail asking for permission to those guys? You can try Canadian Government Gallery too? Novice7 (talk) 09:37, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
- I don't know how to search Can Govt. website :( Did you try Googling it? I'll help you out, when I log in (back) after a few hours. Novice7 (talk) 04:21, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

- Nano I'm not angry at you, that wasn't an angry message I left you it was a message to remind you how good you are. That's all it was. I still check my account and I figured Status was trying to to lure me back when he edited my stuff. I'm not stupid. lol! I just don't feel like editing for awhile I've just been frustrated with how stubborn people are on here. Usually all you and Status gotta do is pretty much tell me I'm doing wrong and I let it go and don't bother with it anymore (and fix it) mainly cause I've always looked up to you two. And you and Status aren't the only ones who don't want me to go, Black Yoshi and Ctjf83 don't want me to fully leave either but I need a break from this for awhile. So I just wanted it to be known to everyone what's bugging me and just get away and hope someone fixes it, then I'd return but I just need to get away. I do like you guys and I don't have any problems with either of you. I'll return in my own time. JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 07:31, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
Sorry If I made you think otherwise. JamesAlan1986 *talk/contribs 08:16, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
- I see you point, and I know how you feel. I've encountered those situations many times, and maybe a break would do you good. Wikipedia isn't supposed to be voluntary torture. :) And, I'm sorry if I ever made you feel as though your editing was wrong, I was just giving constructive criticism. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 00:57, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
Demi's label...
[edit]What's up with Demi's label? Why won't they ever release the first single internationally? The album will probably not be released in other countries than the US and Canada until, like, January 2012 or something. It took almost six months for Don't Forget to be released worldwide, and three months for Here We Go Again. I don't see why they're doing it like this. Skyscraper should have been released at least in the UK by now :/ Btw, the Get Back review is like done. It's your decision to pass or fail. Pancake (talk) 19:29, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
- I don't know what's wrong with them. They do the same thing for Miley. Her only album to come out the same as in North America was Can't Be Tamed. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 00:58, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
- That's Hollywood Records for yah. They are one fucked up label. — Status {talkcontribs 04:56, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

Butterfly Fly Away - From Talk:Party in the U.S.A. Isn't Miley making reference to this in the song when she says "Butterflies, Fly away"? Cause that's what I thought of when I heard it. JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 12:37, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
No one answered this for me. JamesAlan1986 *talk 16:32, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
- No, I don't think so. She didn't write any of those two songs and she wouldn't reference "Butterfly Fly Away" when it wasn't big or even released as a single. Plus, the songs are completely different in genre and lyrically. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 00:59, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
Okay was just wondering. I just know I know I thought of that song when I heard her say that lol. JamesAlan1986 *talk 16:12, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

Prince Charming
[edit]Hm, let's see. Did she reveal that Nick is "PC" in the book? Or, somewhere else? If she did, I guess it's okay to say that the songs were written about Nick. (Although I think, you should stick to "Prince Charming" instead of Nick. That way Miley or Nick won't be angry and we won't violate OR or SYNTH) Otherwise, that would be a big SYNTH violation. Novice7 (talk) 04:52, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
- You mean, she mentions PC in the book and later reveals that it is NJ? If so, you can use that. If I were you, I'd prefer this ... abcdefg "Prince Charming" (later revealed to be Nick Jonas) hijklmno... :) Novice7 (talk) 05:09, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

WikiProject Good articles (Participant Clean-Up)
[edit]Hello, you are receiving this message because you are currently a participant of WikiProject Good articles. Since the creation of the WikiProject, over 200 user's have joined to help review good article nominations and contribute to other sections of the WikiProject. Over the years, several of these users have stopped reviewing articles and/or have become inactive with the project but are still listed as participates. In order to improve communications with other participants and get newsletters sent out faster (newsletters will begin to be sent out monthly starting in October) all participants that are no longer active with the WikiProject will be removed from the participants list.
If you are still interested in being a participant for this WikiProject, please sign your user name here and please help review some articles so we can reduce the size of the backlog. If you are no longer interested, you do not need to sign your name anywhere and your name will be removed from the participants list after the deadline. [edit]Please give source that support your assertion that those are promotional singles. Don't mess up wiki pages just because you are a fan and want to boost the page with spurious content. Hzh (talk) 12:59, 25 May 2013 (UTC)
- iTunes Store is a source. These recordings were released to digital retailers as promo singles for American Idol and their weekly albums/EPs. I'm not attempting to boost the page through such means, and it is unfair for you to remove those singles, which are official releases. She may not be signed, but her Idol contract served to release those non-official singles (aka promo singles). -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 21:34, 25 May 2013 (UTC)
- First, the purpose of promotional single is to promote, that is, it is sent to radio and TV stations to promote either a forthcoming song or album, or it is a special release to create buzz, or songs used as pre-order downloads. There is no evidence that this is what happened with any of those songs, so what ever they are, they are not promotional singles.
- Second, iTunes has been labeling the songs from Idol performances as singles, in fact, it appears that all the songs released by all the contestants are labelled singles. They are therefore not singles in the traditional way we think of singles - i.e. they are not particularly selected to be released as singles, they are not sent to radio, there is no promotion for these songs, they are nothing special about these songs because all the songs in the albums released this season are labelled singles, they are simply available for individual downloads, that is all.
- Third, none of the individual Idol pages list these releases except when they charted. However, these songs are not permitted to chart this year (this appear to be a rule change because in previous years all the songs were allowed to chart after the finale), a reason why we don't see numbers for "You Set Me Free". You therefore have a problem with songs that aren't reported to the Billboard or SoundScan, or announced to the press as singles, or promoted in any way, unlike all other singles released. The only conclusion you can draw is that they are not true singles, certainly not in the way that is traditionally understood. The only exception is "You Set Me Free" which is actually announced to the press as a single, and reviewed as single. You see the difference? The only legitimate way you can list them is simply as songs, but since there is no other information worth putting in, and we don't normally list those songs without sales or chart information, they should not be listed. Hzh (talk) 23:38, 25 May 2013 (UTC)
- These releases are not traditional singles, but they are promo singles with the purpose of promoting the Idol franchise and their weekly albums. They are not only part of an album, but are released individually to generate some buzz. They may not chart, but that doesn't mean they are not part the contestants' discographies. To completely exclude them is to say they never existed or they were never released. Lots of singles get released only to iTunes and not for TV or radio, like those released by Taylor Swift prior to her Red album release, and those are considered to be promo singles. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 07:27, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
- You have no evidence at all to say that. The songs simply cannot promote anything because it wasn't release to radio, other media, or indeed the press, and no one know anything about it apart form Idol fans who watches the show, and those viewers don't need promoting. The songs weren't released to promote the Idol or the franchise, it was released to make money. It also cannot promote the album because the album was released at the same time, and the situation with Red showed exactly why you are wrong. Red singles were released to create interest and buzz the forthcoming album - the album hadn't yet been released then. There were released one by one, and not all of the songs from the album were released for promotion. The press knows and wrote about those singles, and they reviewed them (for example here, and you can find many other articles on these singles), so they tell her fans and other potential buyers that the songs are there, that the album is coming. The press create the buzz and excitement, and the point of creating buzz is to create demand for something that has yet to appear. Hzh (talk) 10:22, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

WikiProject Good Articles Recruitment Centre
[edit] Hello! Now, some of you might be wondering why there is a Good article icon with a bunch of stars around (to the right). The answer? WikiProject Good articles will be launching a Recruitment Centre very soon! The centre will allow all users to be taught how to review Good article nominations by experts just like you! However, in order for the Recruitment Centre to open in the first place, we need some volunteers:
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing this program bring new reviewers to the Good article community and all the positive things it will bring along. A message will be sent out to all recruiters regarding the date when the Recruitment Centre will open when it is determined. The message will also contain some further details to clarify things that may be a bit confusing.--Dom497 (talk) This message was sent out by --EdwardsBot (talk) 01:21, 4 June 2013 (UTC) |

Miley, Selena, Demi!?
[edit]Heya buddy! We haven't talked in a loonngg time, have we? So, Miley just released her new single "We Can't Stop" (via RCA) and I like it, atleast the production. Do you like it. For me, WCS>Come & Get It>Heart Attack. I love Demi's new album. Selena's "Come & Get It" was arguably better than "Heart Attack" though. 五代 (talk) 07:08, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
- Novice! I didn't remember that you had changed your user name. We haven't talked in forever. How have you been? I just graduated from high school yesterday. Kind of crazy to believe that I started editing Wiki in the summer going into freshman year. Anyways, I don't know what to think about Miley anymore. I always supported her straying from the Disney image and becoming free from the role model stereotype, but she's changed so much and does drugs now. I think she's just modeling herself after Rihanna, who I don't like very much. I heard We Can't Stop, but felt it was a generic Party in the USA re-write, just more "grown-up". As for Selena, I think Come & Get It is pretty catchy and she looks gorgeous in the music video. And for Demi, I don't like her album very much, but I think Heart Attack is one of her best songs. I like how she can combine her power vocals with electropop beats. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 00:03, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
- Congrats buddy! I entered second year of college this month :D I can't believe that it's been 5 years since my first edit. Miley does drugs!? I didn't know she did :O I have to admit, I did find her "I'm engaged!" and "grown up" stuff to be annoying at times. I don't like Rihanna much too. I had supported Rihanna's image change (Good Girl Gone Bad), but now she's become really bad! As I said earlier, WCS is better in terms of production, in my opinion. Although, Come & Get It is awesome, I hate the autotuned vocals in the bridge. She does not even sound like herself at times! Demi has some pretty catchy songs though (like "Really Don't Care" with Cher Lyod). Anyway, glad to see you're back :) What are planning on doing after high school? 五代 (talk) 07:03, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

Miley's new image
[edit]Lol, what is your opinion on it? Do you thinks she's going a bit too far this time? The two songs released are good though :) 五代 (talk) 13:55, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
- Wow, this is definitely very late response (pardon me I haven't logged in in nearly a year). It's such an interesting thing to me. I'm still torn about Miley, many months after "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball". She seems desperate for fame or attention, but she's doing it well. I mean not that I condone that type of behavior, but it's understandable when you were so famous at 13. The sexuality of it all is fine by me. It's female liberation. She can ride naked on the wrecking ball if she wants, but the drugs really bother me. She's glamorizing harmful substances that have led to death (I'm not talking about marijuana). The first two videos were scandalous, but they were entertaining and well made. Terry Richardson creeps me out, but I'll let that be. Once "Adore You" came around, I was excited because it's a very genuine song that could've had a nice accompanying video. But then, she decided to go the cheap route and make a sex tape simulation. It lacked class. The song and Miley are better than that. With all that being said, I'm glad she feels free and that she's coming into her own, but I feel she's deviated from the person she used to be. She seems pretentious or guarded in her interviews. Definitely not the same Smiley Miley. Her voice is better, but the songs I think are weaker. Bangerz felt overproduced to me. "My Darlin'" didn't need Future (although it's oddly compelling) and a lot of the other songs were made into EDM ballads that do nothing for me. Even "Wrecking Ball" feels a little more amped up than needed. This is really long. Sorry that I answered so late. I hope to hear your response. I really miss communicating with you. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 03:21, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
- It sure has been a long time :) I thought you'd abandoned Wikipedia for good. Yep, I agree. When "We Can't Stop" came out, I was so excited because it had such a different sound. I hoped the video would be fun like the song too. But that didn't happen. Not that I hate teh WCS video, it doesn't seem right to me :D Same goes for "Wrecking Ball" (the directors cut is good). Like you, I don't mind the hammer licking or riding the ball, but the drugs! Yes! Didn't the pictures of her smoking pot leak online? Not good if your fan following consists of children below 15 :/ "Adore You" is such a nice song but the video.. errm.. Anyway, yeah, Bangerz is not the best she's put forward (tbh, I'd rather listen to Yours Truly). Speaking of which, you should like Ariana Grande, don't you? :) Anyway, I'm glad you replied. I was starting to miss all you guys, Wikipedia in 2010–11 was so much fun. ごだい (会話) 03:47, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I actually do like Ariana Grande a lot. At first she just felt like Mariah Carey impersonation, but I grew to like her album and her voice. She's such a great singer. Have you heard "Problem"? It's like the female "Talk Dirty". I probably have left Wikipedia for good. This was really an off chance. I checked in, but I don't think I'll be editing articles or anything. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 04:45, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, I have. It's my jam atm! I gave up on English music articles and now am working on some Japanese song articles. The template you're talking about, is it talkback? Wikipedia's changed a lot, so I'm confused too lol. ごだい (会話) 04:50, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
- Maybe it is. I'm not too sure lol. I've been listening to "Problem" on repeat since last Monday. Speaking of Mariah Carey, I've become such a huge fan since 2011. I have six of her albums. I have all her important songs. What do you think about her delaying her new album? And the new title Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse? -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 04:51, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
- Lol, I actually don't listen to her anymore. Let's just say I got bored with her songs. The title of the new album sure is good, I'm not so sure about the songs. Neither "Beautiful" nor "You're Mine" were amazing songs. Plus, her attitude, it has changed a lot. I don't know, she seems to be faking it lol. If you look at her interviews or live performances from back in the 90s, you'll see how mature she was. But now... probably not. ごだい (会話) 04:57, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
- I think her album title is a bit ridiculous lol. It's very Mimi though. Yes, I've seen her interviews. But, remember in a lot of those 90s interviews she wasn't allowed to have a personality. Tommy Mottola was trying to control every bit of her life. By now, her diva act is just comedy. It's definitely an exaggerated version of who she is. I find it kind of funny. I love "Beautiful", "You're Mine" is OK. Also, Miley not only had leaked pictures, she's put them up on Instagram and even smoked a joint while accepting an EMA. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 05:02, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, I agree lol. And Miley... this girl. I give up :D Do you still watch Disney buddy? There's this show called Dog with a Blog and Austin & Ally (both of which have overacting female leads). I watch them sometimes, when I'm free. Have you heard of this show called So Weird? I really miss it. ごだい (会話) 05:07, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
- I watch Disney when I'm bored, but I don't honestly enjoy it. I don't really like any show. I liked Good Luck Charlie, but that ended. The rest I find really terrible. It doesn't look like Disney will have a new Miley for some time. Also, the actresses are so small. China and the girl from Dog with a Blog look like they're 12. And I've actually never heard of that show. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 05:12, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

GAN December 2013 Backlog Drive
[edit] Hello! A GAN Backlog Drive will begin in less than 4 days! In past Backlog Drives, the goal was to reduce the backlog of Good article nominations. In the upcoming drive, another goal will be added - raising as much money as we can for the Wikimedia Foundation. How will this work? Well, its pretty simple. Any user interested in donating can submit a pledge at the Backlog Drive page (linked above). The pledge should mention the amount of money the user is willing to donate per review. For example, if a user pledges 5 cents per review and 100 nominations are reviewed, the total donation amount is $5.00. At the time this message was sent out, two users have submitted pledges for a total of 8 cents per review. All pledges, no matter how much money, are greatly appreciated. Also, in no way is this saying you must make a pledge. |
GAN December 2013 Backlog Drive
[edit] Hello! Just a friendly reminder that the GAN Backlog Drive has begun and will end on December 31, 2013! If you know anyone outside of the WikiProject that may be interested, feel free to invite them to the drive! |
March 2014 GAN Backlog Drive
[edit]It's that time again! Starting on March 1, there will be another GAN Backlog Drive! There will be several changes compared to previous drives:
- This drive will introduce a new component to it; a point system. In a nutshell, older nominations are worth more points than newer nominations. The top 3 participants who have the points will be awarded the Golden, Silver, or Bronze Wikipedia Puzzle Piece Trophy, respectively.
- Unlike the December 2013 Backlog Drive, earning an additional barnstar if you reached your goal has been removed.
- The allowance to have insufficient reviews has been lowered to 2 before being disqualified.
- An exception to the rule that all reviews must be completed before the deadline has been created.
Also, something that I thought I would share with all of you is that we raised $20.88 (USD) for the WMF in the December 2013 drive. It may not sound like a lot but considering that that was raised just because we reviewed articles, I would say that's pretty good! With that success, pledges can be made for the upcoming drive if you wish.
More info regarding the drive and full descriptions regarding the changes to this drive can be found on the the drive page. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a message on the drive talk page.
I look forward to your participation and hope that because of it, some day the backlog will be gone!

WikiProject Good articles Future GAN Backlog Drive
[edit]Hello everyone! Hope you've all been having a great summer!
TheQ Editor recently proposed the idea of having another Backlog Drive in either September/October or November/December of this year. For those of you who have participated in the past two drives you know I was the one who organized them, however, come September, this will be my most important year in school so I will not be able to coordinate this drive (if it happens). TheQ Editor has volunteered to be a coordinator for the drive. If any of you would like to co-coordinator, please notify TheQ Editor on his talk page.
If you would be interested in participating in a Backlog Drive sometime before the end of this year, please notify TheQ Editor. Also, make sure to specify what month(s) work best for you.
At the time this message was sent out, the backlog was at 520 nominations. Since May, the backlog has been steadily increasing and we are currently near an all time high. Even though the backlog will not disappear over one drive, this drive can lead to several others which will (hopefully) lead to the day where there is no longer a backlog.
As always, the more participants, the better, and everyone is encouraged to participate!

GA Cup
[edit]Hello everyone! We hope you have all been having a great summer!
As we all know, the recent GAN Backlog Drives have not had any big impact on the backlog. Because of that, me (Dom497), Figureskatingfan, and TheQ Editor have worked on an idea that could possibly finally put a dent into the massive backlog. Now, I will admit, the idea isn't entirely ours as we have took the general idea of the WikiCup and brought it over to WikiProject Good Articles. But anyways, here's what we have in mind:
For all of you that do not know what the WikiCup is, it is an annual competition between several editors to see who can get the most Good Articles, Featured Article's, Did You Know's, etc. Based of this, we propose to you the GA Cup. This competition will only focus on reviewing Good articles.
For more info on the proposal, click here. As a FYI, the proposal page is not what the final product will look like (if you do go ahead with this idea). It will look very similar to WikiCup's page(s).
The discussion for the proposal will take place here. Please let us know if you are interested, have any concerns, things to consider, etc.

WikiProject Good Articles - GA Cup
[edit]
WikiProject Good articles is holding a new competition, the GA Cup, from October 1, 2014 - March 28, 2015. The Cup will be based on reviewing Good article nominations; for each review, points will be awarded with bonuses for older nominations, longer articles and comprehensive reviews. All participants will start off in one group and the highest scoring participants will go through to the second round. At the moment six rounds are planned, but this may change based on participant numbers. Some of you may ask: what is the purpose for a competition of this type? Currently, there is a backlog of about 500 unreviewed Good article nominations, almost an all time high. It is our hope that we can decrease the backlog in a fun way, through friendly competition. Everyone is welcome to join; new and old editors! Sign-ups will be open until October 15, 2014 so sign-up now! If you have any questions, take a look at the FAQ page and/or contact one of the four judges. Cheers from NickGibson3900, Dom497, TheQ Editor and Figureskatingfan. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 19:04, 15 September 2014 (UTC) To receive future GA Cup newsletter, please add your name to our mailing list.

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Taylor Swift - The Story of Us.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Taylor Swift - The Story of Us.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Saw you've done lots of work on articles, particularly those relating to Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift, and haven't edited since July 2014. This message is just to let you know that I've added your name to the linked page above. If you ever come back, remember to remove your name from the list. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Best of Both Worlds Concert.png
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Best of Both Worlds Concert.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Stefan2 (talk) 17:59, 21 February 2016 (UTC)

The book Book:Breakout has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Topic is covered in the more complete and thorough Book:Miley Cyrus.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, books may be deleted for several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated book prod
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the book's talk page.
Please consider improving the book to address the issues raised. Removing dated book prod
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes still exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and the miscellany for deletion process allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Custom signature fix needed
[edit]Hi there! You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.
The problem: Your signature contains a syntax error, specifically outdated formatting tags that are in the wrong place.
The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.
- Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
- Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
- Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
- Remove anything in the Signature: text box.
- Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
- Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
- Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
- Change the signature as shown below, or make other edits to make the signature appear how you want it to appear.
- Click Save to update to your newly fixed signature.
Current signature:
<font face="tahoma" color="LightBlue">ipodnano05</font> * <font face="tahoma" color="SteelBlue">leave@message</font>
Fixed signature:
<span style="color:LightBlue; font-family:'tahoma';">ipodnano05</span> * leave@message
More information is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Thanks. – Jonesey95 (talk) 17:12, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
