- A request for comment seeking to alleviate pressures on the request an account (ACC) process proposes either raising the account creation limit for extended confirmed editors or granting the account creator permission on request to new ACC tool users.
- In a related matter, the account throttle has been restored to six creations per day as the mitigation activity completed.
- The scope of CSD criterion G8 has been tightened such that the only redirects that it now applies to are those which target non-existent pages.
- The scope of CSD criterion G14 has been expanded slightly to include orphan "Foo (disambiguation)" redirects that target pages that are not disambiguation pages or pages that perform a disambiguation-like function (such as set index articles or lists).
- A request for comment seeks to determine whether Wikipedia:Office actions should be a policy page or an information page.
- The Wikimedia Foundation's Community health initiative plans to design and build a new user reporting system to make it easier for people experiencing harassment and other forms of abuse to provide accurate information to the appropriate channel for action to be taken. Community feedback is invited.
- In February 2019, the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) changed its office actions policy to include temporary and project-specific bans. The WMF exercised this new ability for the first time on the English Wikipedia on 10 June 2019 to temporarily ban and desysop Fram. This action has resulted in significant community discussion, a request for arbitration (permalink), and, either directly or indirectly, the resignations of numerous administrators and functionaries. The WMF Board of Trustees is aware of the situation, and discussions continue on a statement and a way forward. The Arbitration Committee has sent an open letter to the WMF Board.
Third opinion on Coeliac disease

New page reviewer granted
Hi Interstellarity. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encylopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:
- Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance. so that they are aware.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
- If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
- Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 00:00, 9 July 2019 (UTC)

Can you delete Archive 1 of my user talk page and change it to Month/Year archiving please? I already set up a bot to do it for me. Interstellarity T 🌟 14:48, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
- For the deletion request, I have changed the template to {{admin help}}. This seems to be a bit premature though, as the old archive page may be useful for you to reconstruct the new month/year pages. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 17:45, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
- Generally, it is not recommended to delete archives. Specifically speaking about this instance, I would suggest to set up the bot as per your preference, and after the bot makes the first archive, then you can copy-paste the text from the archive page that you want to delete. @ToBeFree: erm... You did not deactivate the template. —usernamekiran(talk) 18:21, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
- Usernamekiran, I thought Interstellarity or an administrator could do the withdrawal/decline if needed. I have converted {{help me}} to {{admin help}} and provided thoughts about the request ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:46, 6 July 2019 (UTC)

- Ah, your U1 deletion request has been answered. I'm changing the template back to {{help me}}.
- Could you clarify what exactly you'd like us to help with now? If the bot setup has already been done, all that is left seems to be manual restoration of old archives in the new format. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:31, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
- I have replaced "%%i" by "'Y/m (F)'" per the documentation at User:ClueBot_III#format. Does this solve the request? ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:34, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
- The documentation appears to be incorrect. I have removed the single quotation marks and will update the documentation if this works. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:07, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
- ClueBot archived some of my talk page messages. I requested speedy deletion for three pages here, here, and here and ClueBot automatically recreated two of them. ClueBot has created User talk:Interstellarity/Archive/2019/04 (April) after ToBeFree fixed an apostrophe issue. The pages ClueBot re-created correspond to that new archive; here is the re-creation of the third page, but now without the apostrophe. To me the bot seems to be working as intended. - Thanks; I have now updated the documentation at Special:Diff/905205782. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 16:16, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
- @ToBeFree: Why did ClueBot pick random threads to archive rather than archive everything before that? Is there anything that needs fixing? Interstellarity T 🌟 16:17, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
- Interstellarity, ClueBot III looks at the version history, not the timestamps in the signatures. The other sections have recently been added to this page, so they are not being archived yet. If you'd like to move them to the correct archive locations, you can do so manually. It will work correctly in the future. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 16:23, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
- @ToBeFree: Does Lowercase sigmabot work the same way? If yes, then could you manually archive them for me please? I don't feel comfortable doing it myself. Interstellarity T 🌟 16:39, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Jmcgnh: Per IRC request, I have pinged you. Interstellarity T 🌟 17:55, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
- Lowercase Sigmabot uses the timestamps in the signatures. Please try doing things yourself; you can't always rely on the volunteer community to work for you. I believe that you are well capable of selectively moving text from this page to, e.g., User talk:Interstellarity/Archive/2019/01 (January). If these pages, after your work, don't appear in the navigation box on your talk page, that's a technical problem I'll happily try helping with. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:03, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
- I see you've made the change over to sigmabot yourself. Congratulations. Note that the archive search box works without an index, so the index link (currently a red link) is not needed. Now we need to wait a day or so to see if sigmabot will archive sections where a sig is not exactly the last item in a section (I'm thinking of the TWA notice and the Teahouse notifications). If not, some manual cleanup will fix it and you may want to give some feedback to the sigmabot operator to see if they can expand the bot's ability to archive these sorts of sections.
- And, thanks to your prompting, I went and did the annual maintenance task on my talk page. You'd think 120 days would be enough to get around to doing it, but, no, I waited til half the year was gone. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 03:12, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
- The TWA notice didn't get archived, but it looks like it took care of the rest that I wasn't sure about. Good job! — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 12:05, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hey. Well done. Looks good. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 01:28, 9 July 2019 (UTC)

Welcome to New Page Patrol!
Welcome, Interstellarity to the New Page Patrol team.
Congratulations on receiving the New Page Patrol user permission and on becoming a part of the patroller community. Our mission is to accurately, rather than quickly, handle the new articles which are created. As you begin to patrol it's natural to have lots of questions. Feel free to ask on my talk page or ask for thoughts in the New Page Patroller IRC channel #wikimedia-npp connect or on our Discord server (invite link). We also regularly discuss issues and topics surrounding New Page Patrolling at the NPP discussion page and I would invite you to join us there. I hope you find NPP as rewarding as I do and, again, welcome to the community. ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 12:19, 9 July 2019 (UTC) |

Howdy, just checking - do you know what licensing is in force for Thai government material? I couldn't find anything on that webpage, but based on US and most European instances, there's a good chance that it's all public domain. Which is why I punted it over to copyright investigation rather than CSDing. What's your take? --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 16:17, 13 July 2019 (UTC)

Your recent question at Teahouse
Hi. You may have seen me around the Teahouse from time to time. I have a suggestion as to what you can do if you think the board is being trolled. It certainly does happen. Probably the best thing you can do is open a thread at WT:TEA and engage the other hosts on what to do. If it's blatant and fast moving, you can leave a note at WP:AN (be sure to include a specific diff). Another approach would be to contact an administrator that frequents Teahouse, such as Cullen328 or 331dot directly on their talk page and, although I'm not an administrator, I've been at Teahouse since the beginning and I'm always willing to help. John from Idegon (talk) 18:37, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
- @John from Idegon: Why did you come to my talk page instead of posting it underneath my question at the Teahouse? Interstellarity T 🌟 18:41, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
- Teahouse is supposed to be a warm and safe place for new editors. Discussion of the workings of Teahouse are not particularly conducive to maintaining that atmosphere. The Teahouse board is for helping new users in a friendly cordial way. Questions about how to handle problems on the board are best discussed elsewhere, like the board's talk page. I probably should have just copied your thread to there, and you are welcome and encouraged to do just that. John from Idegon (talk) 18:48, 13 July 2019 (UTC)

G13
Perhaps I can give you some hints as a very experienced patroller of AfC ever since the system was developed. It is not always helpful to automatically mark for spedy deletion after 6 months, but rather to read the draft carefully first, to see if there is any realistic prospect of an article.(ideally , the deleting admin should be doing this also, as an additional check, but in practice one cannot always count on us overworked admins to take the trouble; with two people checking, we lose fewer potential articles.) If there is, ideally the best thing to do is to improve it to be suitable for main space--but that's a counsel of perfection, because we can rarely do that and still deal with all the drafts. What I do in such situations is to improve it a little, to show that the situation is being dealt with. It is also possible to reset the clock without improving it, but it is usually better to first improve it or at least clarify the possibilities. Among the things to watch for is articles apparently translated from other WPs, and articles that have at least one very high quality reference: for example, Draft:Venus figurines of Kostjonki is derived from the more complete article at ruWP--checking even the link to our article on the archeological site shows it is something really important. Itneeds more work, but I know the subject & the language a little, and I intend to revise it to a decent article tho it will take a little while. M. E. Holland had two reviews of his film--and they were from the NY Times & the LA Times, the most reliable news sources for film reviews. I clarified this , and then cleaned up some of the promotionalism --there's more to do, but after that I decided that it was already a sustainable article & accepted it (it wasn't when it was declined by the reviewer, but it was improved after that, as can be seen in the page history--it should have been resubmitted, but the ed. must have gotten discouraged.).
Reviewing stale drafts is a discouraging thing to do, for the yield of decent articles is not very high--perhaps 5%. But there are about 30,000 drafts a year, and about 3/4 get declined, so that 5% still gives at least 500 articles--about 2 a day. The way to not get discouraged is to work on only a few at a time--I usually stop at 10 or so. DGG ( talk ) 04:04, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
- @DGG: Sorry about that. That's very good advice. Interstellarity T 🌟 14:58, 14 July 2019 (UTC)

IRC -revdel channel access
Hi Interstellarity. I'm DeltaQuad, an English Wikipedia Oversighter. Recently you have been posting requests for oversight to the IRC -revdel channel. While there is nothing wrong with posting "!oversight", as you have been told many times, including the link with it, and not to an oversighter in PM is an issue. Therefore, I am revoking your access to the channel for a few days. This is not to discourage you from reporting things to oversight, you can still ask for an oversighter in other channels using "!oversight" without the link included and one will come find you. Your second option is to email it in. Thank you. -- Amanda (aka DQ) 05:50, 16 July 2019 (UTC)
- @DeltaQuad: OK Amanda, I understand. But I have one more question. When you say PM, what does that stand for? Interstellarity T 🌟 21:22, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

CSD G1
Hi Interstellarity, I wanted to inform you that I removed the G1 tag you placed on Aquaman 2 (film) (now deleted). G1 is only applicable when the entirety of a page's content (and past revisions) is completely incomprehensible or gibberish. It does not apply to unsourced, poorly formatted, or foreign language material as some meaning can still be determined. For a more thorough description of when G1 does and does not apply, you may be interested in User:Balloonman/CSD G1 survey. For a broader picture, you may also find Wikipedia:Field guide to proper speedy deletion helpful - even now, I still use it as a guide when I'm not sure if a criterion applies. I get the feeling that you are copying my user page and talk page layout. I don't disapprove of this as every content I release to this website is licensed under CC 4.0. Masum Reza📞 12:44, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Masumrezarock100, would you like me to do something original or leave it the way it is? Interstellarity (talk) 16:27, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
- Not really. Masum Reza📞 16:35, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Masumrezarock100: I'm not quite sure what you are saying. Interstellarity (talk) 16:37, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
- I meant it's your choice to make. I personally don't care if someone copies my layout or not. Masum Reza📞 17:29, 29 July 2019 (UTC)

I would like to continue to use the User:Evad37/MoveToDraft script while new page reviewing. However, I do not want the script to keep a log of my drafts: see here. Where can I ask this? Help desk? Teahouse? Interstellarity (talk) 18:09, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
- I couldn't find anything about it on the script's documentation page. You should ask the creator of the script. Alternative: If you don't want to keep a log, then nominate the subpage for speedy deletion per U1. Then ask an admin to fully creation protect the page. Hope this helps. - I saw this Special:Diff/908610266. I told you to request full creation protection not semi creation protection. You are an auto and extended confirmed user. So semi and extended confirmed creation protection won't affect you at all. You will still automatically create the page while draftifying an article. If a page is full creation protected, only administrators can create the page. I hope the above words makes sense. Masum Reza📞 14:40, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Masumrezarock100: Please see my next edit that fixes the wording. I used to Twinkle to request protection, but since Twinkle does not have an option for create protection, I requested semi-protection then changed it to create protection. It was not my intention to request semi-protection. Interstellarity (talk) 16:43, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
