Goalpariya
[edit]I've reverted some of your changes to Goalpariya dialect (as the article is currently titled). I have no opinion on whether this should be called a language, a dialect, or a group of dialects. There's one section in the article that treats the issue, and the impression I get is of a dialect or a group of dialects. The sources there appear reliable, but I don't know if they're up to date or if they represent the full picture. Maybe you could rewrite that section, but first you'll need to find additional good sources. Academic, linguistically-informed articles will be best, and opinion pieces in newspapers should generally be avoided. As for the article's title, this has been discussed at some length in the past (see the talk page). In a such a case, if you would like to have the article renamed, you should start another discussion (see WP:RM#CM for how to do that). Thanks! – Uanfala (talk) 23:07, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Deshi people
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Deshi people requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://scroll.in/article/864299/we-dont-want-to-be-identified-in-the-name-of-our-religion-say-assams-indigenous-desi-muslims. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit]Your addition to Deshi people has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. Largoplazo (talk) 16:30, 7 September 2019 (UTC)
I see you've been virtually copying whole sentences off of other websites into at least a couple of other articles too. Please stop doing that. Largoplazo (talk) 17:18, 7 September 2019 (UTC)
They are authentic sources and the page doesn't demand to be deleted.InspireTheWorld1 (talk) 18:22, 7 September 2019 (UTC)
- You appear not to understand copyright and copyright law. You may not use someone else's work without their permission. They own it. You need their permission to use it. It has nothing to do with whether the source is "authentic" or whether you've acknowledged it. Largoplazo (talk) 11:49, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
I think you are not aware of fair use under copyright law. Moreover the contents were not copyrighted as those were about a community and their festivals. Nothing can be copyrighted as the facts stated in the news articles were customs and even the author of those articles don't have any right over them. Less i would request to bring back the article. I don't know why people are not ready for articles on India.InspireTheWorld1 (talk) 17:12, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
- I'm aware of fair use. I think you think it means more than it does. That you created a whole article consisting of material pasted from elsewhere suggests that. You're also confusing facts, which aren't subject to copyright, with written or recorded content that relates facts, which is.
- Are you averse to writing in your own words? That's really what editors are supposed to be doing here, not pasting in other authors' content from elsewhere. Largoplazo (talk) 17:18, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
Didn't you see the timeline? Wasn't i working upon it? By the time you put it for speedy deletion i was finding more sources and writing and editing as well. The paragraph which I wrote and which you claim I plagiarized are facts and customs of the community. No one can plagiarized or copy it. It will be same everywhere and its universal truth. My writing that article and you putting in speedy deletion had only one hour in between. You acted too fast which was uncalled for. Even if you find that paragraph copied, the didn't demand deletion. The citation which i cited are reputed and even they were identical with similar language because you can't say day as night! Again I request for the article. Thank you.InspireTheWorld1 (talk) 17:31, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
- Once you've posted nearly exact copies of someone else's material, why would I assume that if I waited another several hours it won't be there any more? You aren't supposed to do it at all.
- Unfortunately, you clearly don't understand the legal significance of all of this. You keep talking about "reputed", which isn't relevant, and won't listen to the fact that an article consisting entirely of someone else's copyrighted material must be deleted. Wikipedia cannot publish that content. That's why WP:CSD G12 exists. Even when someone posts copyrighted material to an existing article, that content, when discovered, is removed, and then revisions of the article that include the copyrighted material are suppressed so they aren't visible to the public.
- In addition, Wikipedia footnotes represent sources of information. They direct readers to where information can be verified. They are, the vast majority of the time, used to source material that isn't copied from elsewhere. So footnoting, in fact, does not acknowledge that you have directly quoted a source. Largoplazo (talk) 18:11, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
If even a paragraph according to you is plagiarized doesn't necessarily mean deletion of the entire page!!! Also, you can't say that the contents are the material of someone else i.e., the authors as these are facts of the community and those authors even doesn't have copyright on them. To make you understand let me cite an illustration: If an author writes an article on Christmas and tells how Christmas are celebrated then you can't say that the author has copyright on what he wrote. Christmas is an universal fact and no one can have copyright on that. The facts will be same everywhere. With the same parameter the community has their ritual and even if some author writes the facts doesn't give them any copyright on the facts as the author has not written anything fiction. IN the instant case the author who happens to be a journalist just represented what is fact, even he doesn't hold any copyright on the customs and festivals. Hope you understand now. InspireTheWorld1 (talk) 18:27, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
- Virtually the entire article, including the lead, was copied. And you're still confusing facts with writing about facts. The issue wasn't that you were copying facts, it's that you were copying whole sentences and paragraphs. Do you think you have the right to copy an entire work of nonfiction just because every sentence in it expresses a fact? Largoplazo (talk) 18:35, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
- Does that mean deleting the entire article? Why didn't you re-write it if you thought it was entirely copied? No one can invent sentence and language. The article was too short to be changed where the facts are not available on internet.
- Please restore the article.InspireTheWorld1 (talk) 18:43, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
- It does mean deleting the entire article, as I've already explained at least twice, and as is explained in Wikipedia's own guideline on the matter, the link to which has already been put in front of you at least twice.
- It isn't my job to write a different article every time someone posts an article that requires deletion as a copyright violation. Who says I even have the necessary knowledge or context, or that I've even heard of the topic?
- The rest of your post doesn't make any sense. Millions of Wikipedia articles have been written in original language written by their creators. Largoplazo (talk) 19:58, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
- You had put only two links, but there are many links which negates your claim. Moreover, you can't rewrite facts which has been provided in the cited article. If there is two lines in the cited article you can't write more than that which contains facts. You can't circumvent facts in your own language. InspireTheWorld1 (talk) 20:14, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
- InspireTheWorld1, I haven't seen the article you've created and I don't know how much of it has been copied, but it's clear you're misunderstanding the nature of copyright. I suggest you read WP:COPYOTHERS. – Uanfala (talk) 20:46, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
- There were few lines in a paragraph which they claim to be copy pasted by me, but those lines are same in all the sources. There are around ten website which states the same facts are in public domain. If it is said that 'xyz community consumes abc food in a particular day' and every source writes the same thing as it is a fact, so it has to be written same. Change of language is historical facts causes blunder.
Even though the entire article was not supposed to be deleted.InspireTheWorld1 (talk) 06:01, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
- If a whole sentence has been copied, then it's likely a copyright violation. The same facts can be conveyed in a large number of ways, and there's nothing tying you to the wording used in a particular source. You can recreate your article, but you'd need to rewrite in your words the parts that have been copied (staying clear of Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing too). If you don't have a copy of the text of the article, and there are parts of it that you have written yourself and you would like to use, you can ask the deleting admin (User talk:RHaworth) to email you a copy. – Uanfala (talk) 12:57, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
Edits to Aligarh Muslim University
[edit]I hope you are aware of Wikipedia's editing guidelines, but to restate if you have issues with the inclusion of information to an article you are always welcome to start a discussion on the article's talk page but to engage in baseless ad hominems of alleged self-promotion is futile and defeat's Wikipedia's purposes as an encyclopedia. The same verges on being disruptive editing. Now that you have been reverted utilise the talk page before reinstating your edits. Tamravidhir (talk) 18:37, 2 October 2019 (UTC)
- Your editing is disruptive. You have re-drafted the entire page which was there in long standing and have been scrutinized by many editors. The entire contents has been left meaningless now. Many sentences and facts are not correct and you have written to fulfill your obligation on facebook post of one ali nadeem rezavi and your comment thereon. Your comment by the the username arnesh nag is clearly promotion on someone else's behalf.InspireTheWorld1 (talk) 19:04, 2 October 2019 (UTC)

The article Rajbari, Abhayapuri has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
This article provides no citations, no meaningful content or context; and fails to demonstrate notability.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:16, 11 March 2020 (UTC)
