High schools in Texas
[edit]Hi! There's no need to add "High schools in Texas" to cats that have "High schools in Fort Bend County, Texas" etc. as they are subdivisions of "High schools in Texas" - adding HS in Texas to those articles would be redundant. Thanks WhisperToMe (talk) 21:41, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Regarding the CFISD wikitable, I removed mascot and colors as they are not that important to a school. Also I corrected locations as all but Jersey Village are in unincorporated areas (none of the CFISD high schools are in the city limits of Katy and Houston, and Cypress is not an incorporated area) - And the school population figures date too quickly. Autopatrolled
[edit]Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:
- This permission does not give you any special status or authority
- Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
- You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page
- If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
- If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing! Acalamari 18:53, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Page titles
[edit]Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Randall High School a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Randall High School (Amarillo, Texas). This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. R'n'B (call me Russ) 16:21, 20 January 2012 (UTC)
- Incidentally, according to our article title guidelines, it usually isn't desirable to include a qualifier in parentheses like "(Amarillo, Texas)" unless this is needed to distinguish the article from articles about other schools with the same name. I don't see any other "Randall High School" articles on Wikipedia. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 16:23, 20 January 2012 (UTC)
The reason I included (Amarillo, Texas) in the title is because the school is actually in the city limits of Amarillo even though it is Canyon ISD school. Thanks for the heads up on how to retitle an article. Indyjrg1762 (talk) 23:40, 20 January 2012 (UTC)
Texas schools
[edit]Hi. Thanks for the Mason High School add. Depending on what you're working on, Category:Education in Texas by county might contain some relevant subcategories for you. Having said that, I just looked at your User page. You've done good!
And a piece of advice about the assessments on the Talk Page of any article. If you consider yourself part of WikiProject Texas, then just put your own assignment on there. There's not a lot of user activity in this project right now, and as you can see by looking at the project's main page, there are already over 2,000 unassessed articles under the project. If you want an assessment on your page, put it on yourself. The Texas project will never catch up with the backlog. Maile66 (talk) 15:08, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
WikiProject Texas
[edit]I would appreciate it if you would have a look at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Texas, specifically about the Redesign of the project's main page, and about it joining WikiProject United States. For all intents and purposes, this project has reached a comatose state of involvement. Editors are creating and contributing to Texas articles. But the project site itself has been pretty dead for a long time. Anything you can add to the current discussions on that page would be appreciated. Maile66 (talk) 21:09, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
Texline High School
[edit]Hi! I notice you started Texline High School The thing is, while urban school districts can have articles on distinct schools, Texline ISD only has one school, and it might be best to have everything in one article WhisperToMe (talk) 12:09, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

Texline
[edit]Hi! I don't think much information was lost at all. Let's review the changes.
If you compare the articles carefully, there was little unique info in the "Texline HS" article. The unique part, the history, was consolidated easily. Other stuff, such as athletic mascots, enrollment, etc. can easily be posted at the district article. WhisperToMe (talk) 00:17, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
Now, you ask "I need to know what I can do to prevent this with the other articles I have created" - Well, you'll have to find enough unique information about a subject through reliable secondary sources. Using Google News and Google Books to find information can help easily.
Now, which article consolidations did you find to be problematic? I can take a look at them and check what could be done about them WhisperToMe (talk) 00:19, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. New Challenge for Oceania and Australia
[edit]Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest! Cheers.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:12, 24 November 2016 (UTC)

2019 US Banknote Contest
[edit]US Banknote Contest | ||
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here |
