Two years and thirty thousand edits ago, I found a hobby that I really enjoyed. During my time here, I've done things I am proud of along with things that I'm not so proud of; made some friends that I'll keep forever — one I can't imagine being without — also made some enemies; and I enjoyed great times, despite heated disagreements and a few embarrassing moments. I also learned a lot about myself during it all. As an outspoken person who tends to say things bluntly, I know I've crossed some folks that will take great joy from this announcement. For some of those people, I have apologies; for others, well... I have something else for them, but policy prevents me from expressing.
What was once a fun hobby for me has long since become a frustrating addiction. I lost my passion for this place, and though I tried to get back to a place I enjoy, I've just not managed. Almost every attempt to change anything on this project is met with a fight. For a project that is so opposed to bureaucracy, there is so much of it. The place is run by the seat of our pants, little is consistent, and little else is fair. RFA is a dark corner of fail for this project. The fact that we've got no de-admining process besides the timesink that is ArbCom, is unbelievable at this point. And any admin who fears a well constructed system to remove the admin rights of those who have abused their tools or position probably has abused their tools or position. Just sayin'. There's also an imbalance in the distribution of power. Some editors have much too much power over everyone else. Editors shouldn't have so many hats, and the ones who abuse their higher positions really shouldn't be able to keep them.
Anyway, the significance of those issues pail in comparison to our reckless handling of biographies of living people. I believed in this project for a long time. I really did. But I just can't support an open-editing project that shows such careless disregard for the people who have Wikipedia biographies forced upon them. The project has proven to be an endless cycle of the same drama, taken over by the vocal minority. Consensus is now determined by a set percentage, not the weight of arguments. So it takes 75%* to make a positive change, only 26%* to shut it down. One moron in four editors, in any given situation, and we're all fucked as a project.
Anyway, there are, unfortunately, too many editors whom I once had a great deal of respect for, but have since lost it. I'm sure the same can be said by them regarding me, and that's fine, but I can't handle the wiki-politics, the bitterness and other shit some choose to spew, and I don't want be here for the sole purpose of spewing my own venom.
- * Approximations.
- A few personal notes, in no particular order
Marskell. All apologies for the GA drama of September 2007.
David Levy. Apologies for the MPRP drama of November/December 2008.
Pedro. Although you've been dead to me since day one of my RFA ;), I've interacted with your ghost often. You and I share a flaw (some would call it) which is lacking the ability to shutup, or at least watch our mouths, in the face of utter stupidity. Considering we're surrounded by it, not just on WP, but life in general, that's something we should probably work on. Good job creating NOTNOW, though. Very nice.
Malleus. You're a dick of porn star proportions, but you make good points and you do damn fine work. Keep your head up, and realize that not every admin is after you... just most of them. Haha, no no. Not really. Seriously, you'll be alright.
G'guy. I don't think there is much of anything we agree on, but you were always a pleasure to work with. You will be missed.
Jayron. Eff ewe for dropping out of communication with few exceptions after gaining adminship. Adminship which, need I remind, I nommed you for and all I got was a thank you cookie! I want the sex, drugs and money promised to me for successfully nominating you for the bit, so that you could exploi... I mean... >_> writing Hogettes with you was good times. Too bad we didn't write together more.
Mike H. You're kind of a bitch. HERMANAS! <3
GlassCobra. You were like my big (though younger) brother for a long time. You've been missed.
Iridescent. Having cleared my watchlist, should I succumb to the temptations, I know I can rely on your talk page for the latest and greatest news. Failing that, it's always good for an amusing read, as it is a complete circus. Good times.
Gurch. *Snuggles*
EVula. Eee Vee You Lah (EVERYONE: That is how it is pronounced. Srsly.) Dude, good luck with your matrix. Call me in 2012 so we can watch the debates together again. Fun stuff.
Neil. Thanks for being my wiki-daddy.
VirtualSteve. Thanks for all your help in the situation I'm sure you recall. It's too bad our paths didn't cross more often.
Chet. I miss ya, buddy. We all do.
Sam. Adminship isn't everything. Trust me. Just enjoy editing. You're not missing out on anything.
Majorly. Good luck with the resolution. I hope you succeed.
J.delanoy. Slow down, let the other Hugglers have some fun, too!
Balloonman, Gazimoff, Hersfold, Tony, Lar, SirFozzie, Doc g, et al. Keep fighting the good fight for RFA, admin oversight/recall and BLP protection. I'm sorry I'm dropping out. You know where to find me if I'm needed.
To the BRC. I heart you guys. Too much fun. Although we did not meet all of our goals, we certainly had fun in our efforts to achieve world domination. Live long and prosper, mah peeps.
the_undertow. teh_memories.
Jeffpw. You are still, and always will, be missed.
- Small requests
Someone keep an eye on MJK... keep the article polished and free of libel and such. O, and Knitta. I know it reads like a hoax, bit it really is real... rlly. Both primary authors are gone now, so keep an eye on that one, too. :D Obviously, I write the hard-hitting articles of the utmost importance. Those really vital topics which fall outside of the scope of Britannica. This is the only source of comprehensive information on the internet for these subjects! Keep them up to date! XD
Alright. It's been real (in a virtual kind of way). I'm out. لennavecia 06:32, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

.....because I am crap at layout. Hows about a userbox saying "This user (or admin) is believes in the liberal use of semiprotection for BLPs" or something. I say "Liberal" instead of "all" as I feel the latter may be too radical...whaddya reckon? :) Casliber (talk · contribs) 10:05, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
- I was going to email you about this but it's probably more for the TPWs so ... anyway I want one of these! If someone should make one, let me know somehow? kthxbai. ++Lar: t/c 11:15, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
- Uuuuugh. God. You guys are so fucking lucky that 1/ I forgot to hit the logout key and this page auto-loaded from saved sessions, and 2/ that I less than three (work it out, you'll get it) you. I'll make it... both of them. I'll use the one that says all. ;) لennavecia 11:49, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
