False edits and accusations

What a moron. I came back to sign the page on that sillyrabbit guy's talk page the same minute cause I forgot to, that is NOT vandalism. Get a life girl man Ill go out with you if you stop threatening people without basis yo. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sfvace (talkcontribs) 04:20, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

If you made that edit technically you can't block me for personal attacks because I would be stating a fact ;)So if I made a bogus deletion and called it vandalism, YOU could be blocked for "name calling"? Wtf? I knew editors had too much power and abused it on here but come on. You should block whoever hacked your account to make that edit (or was it you?)

Thanks for taking my offer seriously. If it were serious I'd probably first ask for info and exchange myspace profiles or something. Hopefully your reply is a joke and not vanity. By the way what's with all those Q date posts in various langauges on this same talk page?? Take care Sfvace (talk) 06:30, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

What? What's a "Q date post"? It doesn't matter. As for your name-calling, I wasn't planning on blocking you, but you will find yourself blocked by someone else if you keep spouting off like that, with the "moron" and "idiot" and such directed at other users. Wikipedia isn't quite as laid back as you may have hoped, so heed your warnings and slow your roll, else you may be shown the door by those who keep a tighter a-hole. I totally just rhymed without even trying... a poet who didn't know it. Haha, anyway, uh, no... I did not take your offer seriously, thus the lolcat response. لennavecia 13:05, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Help

Hi Jennavecia, Im writing again just to inform you that I know the guy who makes Thegreatestmoever accounts. You are his target and he will make 11-20 versions of the username 'Thegreatestmoever'. I suggest somone should make the accounts and if it's possible block creation of that username. He comes to my school and you and 'Bongwarrior' are targets. He also is targeting Xmoogle. I've warned you and I hope you take action. Thanks Reallikeunreal 16:09, 11 December 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Reallikeunreal (talkcontribs)

Thanks for the note. We used to have a blacklist where we could list names to prevent creation, but it seems to have been deprecated. I could, as you suggest, create the accounts myself, but that would take time and effort, and I really couldn't care less if I'm one of this kid's targets. It's easier to just go about my business and let his vandalism be reverted and his accounts blocked by my talk page stalkers. I didn't even know about his edits until someone else linked me for a good laugh, and I probably won't notice them in the future unless someone else links me, because I don't watchlist my own page. Feel free to call his parents, though, and tell them that he's vandalizing and threatening to rape people with his ruler on the 8th largest website in the world, should you feel so inclined. لennavecia 16:29, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, it's not a ruler, its a more thicker kind of stick. Stay safe --Reallikeunreal 16:56, 11 December 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Reallikeunreal (talkcontribs) Also alert BongWarrior and Xmoogle for me please Thanks, I will warn that kid in my school--Reallikeunreal 17:05, 11 December 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Reallikeunreal (talkcontribs)

Yea, I know what he's referring to, thx. I'm mocking... and now that I've had to explain it, it's not funny. But yea, thanks. لennavecia 14:30, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Why completely change the citation style?

Wikipedia:CITE#Citation_styles says "There are a number of styles used in different fields. They all include the same information but vary in punctuation and the order of the author's name, publication date, title, and page numbers. Any of these styles is acceptable on Wikipedia so long as articles are internally consistent." The article has an established style. Why did you change it? Gimmetrow 16:32, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Because, Gimmetrow, it's the standard way they are displayed when templates are used. If you would like, I can change all the commas back to periods. Personally, I think it looks better that way anyway, but if anyone adds a citation with a template, it will look different than the rest. Also, I removed italics from website urls, as they're not supposed to be italicized, and I added missing authors, dates of publication, updated all the access dates and got archive links for those that were dead. Do you have any other complaints about my improvements? لennavecia 16:34, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
And you know, Gimmetrow, you seriously need to read WP:OWN and stop jumping on people every time they edit the article. By the way, I didn't change the style of referencing. I corrected it. It's still the citation format, I just fixed the inconsistencies and incorrect formatting. لennavecia 16:38, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia:CITE#General_reference لennavecia 16:43, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
I get it. Because YOU decided on a particular style, therefore THAT style must be used in the article, but THAT's not OWNership. According to that logic, the existing editors of the article must maintain the style of any editor who happens to make one edit to the article, and are therefore subordinate to all other editors. The example you link is just that - an example - and not the one and only true way (TM) to form citations on Wikipedia. Gimmetrow 16:46, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
Gimmetrow, I'm so close to opening an RFC on you. I'm fixing the citations. If you don't like the way I'm doing it, tell me what policy I'm violating. As it is, they're a mess, some include the wrong information, the wrong formatting, some are even dead. It's not a matter of what formatting I decide on. We don't italicize urls. We just don't. I don't know what your issue is, but I'm seriously over it. I'm fixing the references, because that's what I do. Look through my contribs. I go to articles and format the references. Pretty much all articles use the same style, that being the citation style, which is what was in this article, and is what I'm currently using still. I'm just fixing the errors. Where do you see a change in style? لennavecia 16:52, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
The order of the author's names, and "retrieved" for "accessed". It doesn't matter what the citation templates do because this article doesn't use citation templates. At least one of the publication dates you've added I could not find on the page, and it seems premature to replace youngartistawards.org with an archive.org link. Could be the site having a bad day. Gimmetrow 17:21, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
You can retrieve publication dates through archive.org. In what style and on what page did you see that author first names should come before their last in references? And where is there a standard for "accessed" as opposed to "retrieved on", which is an integrated standard in all reference templates? While I see that no templates are used in the article, the templates use the standard citation format, so why are you wanting to fiddle with that to make your own little format? The links I archived were last updated almost a year ago. So, I suppose the site could be having a bad year, but probably best to include an archive link anyway :p. Why can't anyone make any changes to the article without you jumping on them, Gimmetrow? You're opposed to having the reference section look like most other articles, and in the format as exampled on the page you cited to me. Why? لennavecia 17:37, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Gimmetrow, I've got to go pick up one of my children from school, then I have errands to run. I plan to complete the reference section tonight. If you don't want the reference section improved, please explain clearly why such a preference is does not fall under OWN, and I would like to see the relevant policies regarding the inappropriateness of editors improving reference sections. Otherwise, I kindly ask that you stop activating the pink (mines pink, most people's are orange) bar across the top of my screen to voice your displeasure with me editing the Song BLP. لennavecia 17:42, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

From the intro of WP:CITE: "Each article should use the same method throughout—if an article already has some citations, an editor should adopt the method already in use or seek consensus before changing it." I periodically check the links, and they were all checked at some point during this process, so YAA is only broken recently. Gimmetrow 17:54, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
Gimmetrow, when the references are jacked, we don't consider that a method to follow. I am using the same format that was already in use in the article. For the last time, I am simply correcting errors. Now, find something productive to do, and stop acting like your article is being intruded upon. لennavecia 00:04, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
Oh, and if the YAA website comes back up, fantastic, change it back. But as it is, according to the article, they were last checked a year and a half ago. So if you checked them recently, great, but you didn't update the access dates and I've got nothing showing when they last worked. Regardless, it's less than a minute of work to remove the archive link and replace the original cite information if the site comes back up, but you know this. So you're either harping on me for the sake of harping on me, or you're seriously going overboard with your custodianship of this article. لennavecia 00:20, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
If I can butt in here, the whole point of the note to "not change the citation style" is intended for additions to articles where there is an established style. If an article has 50 refs in one style, it makes no sense if I add information and choose a different style. That being said, where an article has no coherant style of citation at all, I see no inherent problem with choosing a single style, and making all the citations meet it. The greater issue is that Lara's changes don't make the article worse, and if she wants to spend her time unifying all of the styles in the article, there's no real point in getting bent out of shape over it. WP:IAR says to ignore any rule where obeying it does not make Wikipedia better. Following a standard citation style within an article does make Wikipedia better, so fuck all of the rest. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 04:53, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
He's not just making a fuss about it, he's reverting part of it back to a format inconsistent with any standard format. So, it's not only a matter of him fighting to keep his preference, it's a broken format. He's actually removing improvements from the article because he apparently doesn't like others making improvements to the article. لennavecia 04:58, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
Well then, even worse then spending inordinate ammounts of time rewriting the citations in an article to a single format is edit warring to prevent others from doing so. Good Gawd! --Jayron32.talk.contribs 05:25, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

O, I misread that as "conflict with". We have smile templates that say something along those lines... recommending you pass them on and it suggests even to those you've had a conflict with. I suppose that along with the way you started the sentence, I expected that line and swapped "contact" for "conflict". Uhm, yea... I don't know a wrong way to take that, and you certainly are allowed, so thank you and Merry Christmas to you as well. لennavecia 17:37, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism

Unfortunately, that's a problem. By the way, I'm one person using the IP that did that edit. Ask Charitwo, he knows me from SmashWiki and Wikia. You see, I'm at school right now, and everyone in this room I'm in has a laptop right now. They are researching for a history project, but some are being stupid and messing up the articles (a few people have Babur, but I can't pinpoint who). I'm sorry, but I can't find out at the moment who's doing these edits, but class is ending in a few mintues. If anyone vandalizes after the next several minutes, I can't help, because I won't be using a laptop. MarioGalaxy (talk) 16:16, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi, do you remember the copyright violation issue on James David Manning? There's another instance of this problem, an interesting one: Manning himself is now using text from this article on his own webpage, here. Ugh, what a night on RC patrol...

Looks like I need a rest after tonight's RC patrol. The first battle was when User:StageFiveMotorsports created Stage Five Motorsports. I placed a speedy and a COI tag on the article. The user contested my actions. Thankfully the spammer is blocked and the article was deleted. But the most serious issue was User:71.102.2.128 and his/her non-good faith comments on the talk page of Church of the SubGenius (see diff.) The IPer lashed back at me on my talk page telling me that it was none of my business reverting the edit. I responded on the IPer's page stating that edits on talk pages must be in good faith. Is the phrase "off with ye!" and the edit summary titled "pblblblblblblbblblblbltttt!" good faith? I do not think so. I started a thread at AN/I here regarding the IPer's actions. Your thoughts??? Danke... BTW did you read the review I gave of the guy who was thinking about running for adminship? It's on his user page.---Balloonman PoppaBalloon 18:33, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
I've just read it; I think you were quite restrained. It's nearly Xmas, so I won't repeat my opinion about school kids being administrators. The sad thing is though that he'll likely just register under another username, start again, and be an admin this time next year, issuing blocks because he doesn't like "queers", or whoever else he takes a dislike to. All he'll have learned from this is how to avoid criticism and how to squeeze through RfA. --Malleus Fatuorum 18:57, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
I think he should change his name... it is too identifiable and he's posted too much information on himself here. I almost went so far as to recommend that he get a fresh start---not in an effort to game the system/hide his past, but rather because of how much personal information one can gleem from him. As for restraint, I'm less likely to be totally harsh when I do a voluntary review as compared to an RfA candidate. At RfA, you asked for it. As a prelim review, you are asking for it to prevent getting ripped a new one at RfA. Now, if he were to run for admin, I would probably take each of those points and expand upon them.---Balloonman PoppaBalloon 22:51, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Malleus, I lied. I guess I can give a harsh review when asked.---Balloonman PoppaBalloon 07:26, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Damn. I check in to this subject header, to see all of the obvious jokes have been made. How am I supposed to make my rude comments now that others are making them for me. LawLord Case

Hey Jennavecia! JvG has brought the issue regarding LawLord to the administrative noticeboards. Anyway, I provided my own opinion on what he had said there, and this user Yngvarr, decides to be come incivil right here [1] calling me a poser and didn't even address my comment correctly.

CalenderWatcher, who's had his issues with me in the past as shown here [2] and here and the bottom of this page [3] came in afterwards, as shown here [4] and suddenly found that he had an opinion on the Law Lord matter as well by going here, [5], here [6], and here [7]. I'll just back out of the situation now as providing an argument seems to have attracted incivility. Could you please step in? Cheers! Cheers_Dude (talk) 15:24, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

Perhaps he meant to type "poster"? I'll read over it shortly. Why is it even being taken to AN when there are already multiple admins commenting on the RFC? Whatev. I'll read it. لennavecia 17:32, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

BTW: As you suggested Christmas night on IRC, I converted the presidents' list on the Alice Lloyd College article to a table. :) Thanks, Willking1979 (talk) 02:57, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

I removed the stub template. That's definitely a start class. I also tweaked the lead sentence per the MOS. Nice work. :) Good start. لennavecia 03:49, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
Changes looks great. Thanks for your review and your comments. :) As I am writing this, looks like some IPer has reverted my rollback on Shrimp. I'll just let that one stand for now. Willking1979 (talk) 03:57, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Hey, beat that

I just got reverted by Jimbo. Is there a barnstar for that? (Obviously, WikiCookies are out of the question right now.) – iridescent 00:31, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Oh, and been told to "stop for a moment to think about human dignity". The irony does not escape me. – iridescent 00:34, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
Oh yeah, because snuff films are always so useful to link to. I agree tho, you deserve some sort of award... --Jayron32.talk.contribs 02:12, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
ROFL. Okay, hold on... I need to stop laughing. *Deep breath* Okay, I'm going to have to agree with those that feel the link isn't a great add to the article, however, I do wish to make two comments on the matter. 1/ I've never understood how RS could be called on a video... it's a video. And 2/ the irony nearly knocked me over. With that said, I'll look for an award tomorrow. One has surely been earned! لennavecia 05:32, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Checkuser

Is a wikipedia user required to leave a posted checkuser results box (guilty) on their user page? Tparameter (talk) 13:07, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

If they're blocked, I'd leave it. If not, then no. لennavecia 15:02, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
