Speedy deletion
[edit]Please reconsider this.
I am not trying to build this as a “web host”
I have a website gslTechnology.com
I just wanted to give the wiki community and readers access to info on our company, history, etc. ( just like Gemtech Suppressors has a page that’s online) I am working to build up a page for GSL Technology that we can cross reference since GSL Technology build many of Gemtech suppressors.
Please reconsider this deletion and bring it back online if possible.
I am not trying to break any rules here....I am not selling products on wiki. I am simply trying to get our Presence a bit better well known
Any advice on how I can avoid auto immediate deletion with future revisions?
Thank you Iamkevinkinzer (talk) 15:12, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Iamkevinkinzer, I'm Girth Summit, another administrator here. I've reviewed the deleted page, but I'm afraid that I agree with the assessment that it is not compliant with our policies. Wikipedia user pages are not provided to help get your company or its website better known, they're here to tell other editors a bit about yourself as an editor here - what sort of articles you are interested in, that sort of thing. See this page for the guidelines on what is, and is not, permitted.
- It would be possible for you to work up a draft article about your company, but before attempting to do that you should familiarise yourself with our COI and PAID guidelines, and also read NCORP thoroughly. You should not attempt to publish the article directly, instead you should use the WP:AfC process so that an experienced and independent editor can review the draft. Be aware that you would not be permitted to maintain the page yourself once it was published - you would have to allow independent editors to do that, only making edit requests on its talk page once it was live. Best GirthSummit (blether) 16:01, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
Thank you again for the quick response. I wasn’t trying to build a user page though. I actually wanted to build a web page that documents the history and offering of GSL Technology Suppressors. There is a page already for Gemtech Suppressors on here....I was trying to model off that for our company....and would love to have a cross link/hyperlink from that page to ours, since they mention GSL Technology specifically in their article.
This being my first article...I am still very new. Trying to figure out the interface and getting. A page online is challenging, but this immediate deletion thing is driving me crazy :)
I will check info all these articles and try again.

- Iamkevinkinzer, you were editing your own userpage; what you need to do is to create a draft article. Go to WP:AfC and follow the instructions there to create your article. Also look at WP:FIRST, which gives useful guidance on creating your first article. But before you do any of that, you need to make the necessary declaration of your COI on your userpage - instructions are given at the links I gave you above. GirthSummit (blether) 16:12, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
- Hi - I fixed up the declaration on your userpage, those 'nowiki' tags were there to allow you to actually see the code you need to add (they stop the software from converting the code into an actual tag, allowing you to see what you need to type).
- I've had a quick look at the draft page, and have some advice for you.
- First, I'd suggest removing any external links in the article - we don't do that, per WP:ELNO. A single external link to your homepage, in an 'External links' section at the end of the article, would be acceptable.
- Next, you need to sort out how you are using citations - they're not there to give extra information about something, they're there to provide verification for an assertion of fact in our article. So, for example, you have written
GSL designed, patented, and produced all Gemtech Suppressors sold from Gemtech's inception in 1994 until the sale to Smith and Wesson in 2016
, and provided two citations, but neither of them supports that assertions - one is just a link to Gemtech's website, which doesn't mention GSL, and another is a link to an article about the acquisition of Gemtech, which again doesn't mention GSL anywhere. - I'd suggest removing the long list of the company's products - it looks like a brochure.
- Finally, and this is potentially the most difficult part - did you read WP:NCORP? You need multiple independent, secondary and reliable sources that give significant coverage to GSL to establish the company's notability. I suggest reading the guidance at that link in full, but blogs don't count, your own website doesn't count, and articles that only give your firm a passing mention (or don't mention it at all) don't count. I haven't looked exhaustively through all your citations, but the reviewer will when you submit this - I'd strongly suggest cutting away any content that isn't directly supported by solid sources. Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:GSL Technology Suppressors
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:GSL Technology Suppressors, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
