Howdy
Was just refactoring my own edits. You can check the history. Nothing to worry. Thx for the heads up though. Sembiyan (talk) 06:30, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
- It seems you have done only one edit summary for the last fifty edits you did, though. --I dream of horses (T) @ 06:34, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
I was not aware. Anyways, I will take care hereafter. Thx Sembiyan (talk) 06:40, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
Special characters in DEFAULTSORT
Hi. Concerning this edit of your, I would like to inform you that inside {{DEFAULTSORT}} names should appear with special characters/accents striped in order to maintain correct order of pages in categories. So, this previous version was the correct one. Check also WP:CHECKWIKI which detects pages with special characters in DEFAULTSORT. Thanks and happy editing! -- Magioladitis (talk) 08:55, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
- Oops, didn't know about that. Thanks for telling me! --I dream of horses (T) @ 15:51, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
Categories
This ordering allows to place the people in their chronological period, and to assign better subcategories. Seeing Category:Medieval castilian jews. I will try to justify the changes.--Lliura (talk) 16:40, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
- You don't need to justify the changes, just describe them in the edit summary. --I dream of horses (T) @ 16:42, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
Vineland Research Station page
Hi there,
I am wondering if you can help me with something. My organization's name (Vineland Research and Innovation Centre) is being used in the Vineland Research Station page, and it is incorrect. Ideally, I would like to be able to create a seperate page tited "Vineland Research and Innovation Centre" but I am unable to do so, as the name is already being used do to redirection. Are you able to offer some advise here. I can make edits to the Vineland Research Station page, but we need a page for our organization with a seperate identity. Thanks, —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.229.17.106 (talk) 16:44, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
- Sounds like a disambiguation page is needed. --I dream of horses (T) @ 16:49, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
Reviewer permission
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 05:00, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

- It comes in handy if you're on Huggle or something and you happen to revert on a pending changes-protected article. Or, rather, it creates less work in that nobody has to review your revert. Thanks for your nominations on the autopatrolled board, btw. If you see any more editors creating lots of reasonable articles, don't hesitate to nominate them. I hate NPP (haven't touched it since my first RfA), so anything I can do to make it easier for you guys is all good. ;) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 05:09, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
- Never knew that my revert had to be approved, as well. It seems rather inefficient, but I guess there's a lot of technical stuff about pending changes that I don't understand.
- I suppose I believe, after a while, that an editor needs to be trusted after a while. So, it isn't really all about me. ;-) --I dream of horses (T) @ 05:14, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Re: Dreamachine
Hi. Why did you remove the gallery? Shouldn't there be a commons gallery link to replace it? Viriditas (talk) 01:58, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- Hi to you, too! :-)
- I remove all galleries I come across, when I can. I believe they just take up space. If a picture will benefit an article, the picture can do that just as well, or even more!, outside of a gallery instead of inside.
- I've never done a commons gallery link. I'm not sure I know what a commons gallery is. --I dream of horses (T) @ 03:52, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the interesting answers. I'm curious about your position. Do other editors also remove galleries like you do? I think in the future, if you remove a gallery, you should make an effort to replace it with a link to {{Commons category}} in the last section. That's what I was talking about when I mistakenly called it a "commons gallery". What do you think? Viriditas (talk) 07:46, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not sure if other editors remove galleries like I do.
- Oh, so doing {{Commons category}} will link to the proper gallery on Wikimedia commons if I do it right? --I dream of horses (T) @ 23:31, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yes! But many times, the gallery (category on commons) will be located under another name or will need to be created on commons. Viriditas (talk) 23:42, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm, I'm sure I can teach myself how to make a category in Commons. Thanks for telling me about this! --I dream of horses (T) @ 23:44, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

Bob Magness, Cable TV Pioneer, Billionaire
He was the first one to recognize the importance of Cable TV in the 1960's when programming wasn't added, it just carried better TV signals. He hired John Malone, now of Liberty Media. He wasn't mentioned very much. Without his vision and financial support Mr. Malone wouldn't be this huge success in Cable TV. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thething88 (talk • contribs) 23:50, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

Re: Indian Officers of 29th DCO Bombay Infantry 1899
Hi! Thanks for your input, and I am not that old! But I am the Official Historian of the Baloch Regiment. I came across a rather inaccurate and incomplete page of the Regiment on Wikipedia and decided to update it. Unfortunately, being new to it, I am having trouble with some of your procedures. The picture in question is held by the battalion (now called 11 Baloch) and as the Regimental Historian and Archivist, I have full authority to use it. In fact I also have a number of other images that I intend to put up on Wikipedia, which are solely owned by the Regiment with no copyrights issues. I would be obliged, if you would let me know how to go about doing this. Thanks. Beloochee (talk) 11:06, 9 October 2010 (UTC)Beloochee.

I'm puzzled by the as to why you put up the inuse tag on that article, and then going off to do other edits ([1], [2]). I made an addition [3] and then removed the tag [4]. Minimac (talk) 06:03, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for the improvements!
- I put up an {{inuse}} tag because it seemed obvious to me, at the time, that the article was, indeed, "undergoing a major edit", but I thought it was by the articles' creator. I know that isn't the "norm" to put up that tag up unless you're writing the article, but I was hoping by doing that, I'd help the article not get deleted. Speedy deletion declined: "Lights Out"
Hello I dream of horses. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of "Lights Out", a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: There is sufficient context to identify the subject of the article. Thank you. ϢereSpielChequers 08:26, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm. That should show me that I need to slow down...again. I dream of horses (T) @ 15:45, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well I wouldn't have defended that one at AFD, but yes we need to be clear with newbies why their article doesn't quite belong, and what they need to do to meet our requirements. An upcoming single from a debut album has context, but not notability. ϢereSpielChequers 16:08, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

RE:October 2010
Hello, I'm user bwisok and I'm new, I'm trying to rescue the societism article from deletion, because I feel that would be more or less outrageous. So I'm working to provide some reference to related ideas of which I'm aware. There is nothing objectionable or nonconstructive in my changes, and they are not dilatory. They're very important concepts, and I resent whoever you are--though I'm not angry--for telling me like a censor who doesn't show any knowledge of the subject matter that I can't make these changes. If you're the author of societism, then please tell me what you find objectionable. I'm basically trying to support the author in identifying a very important social concept for our times. Bwisok (talk) 21:30, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

- My understanding is that people with a COI can edit articles provided they do so very carefully and without controversy. It helps for such people to make use of the talk page and to engage in discussion and propose changes before making them first. About this? Editors have a right to remove warnings, and they have a right to be assholes on their own talk page. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 03:40, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- I agree that people have to right to remove warnings and any other message on their talk page. It would be almost hypocritical for me to say otherwise, because I've removed a comment a few times myself.
- I respectfully disagree, however, that "editors have a right to be assholes on their own talk pages." I thought that the civility RfC concluded otherwise? I dream of horses (T) @ 03:46, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well, it's debatable to which extent "bla bla" falls foul of those policies, maybe. As far as I'm concerned, it's childish and silly, but I'd not take it as too serious an insult. Moreover, the thing with undoing it and warning them for it easily leads to escalation, and that's not often productive. In this case, that didn't matter so much, since I found that underneath your level 1 warning was a level 4 which the editor had blanked, so I reported them and they're blocked now. Hey, I'm not trying to tell you what to do (you probably know that well enough, judging from your history and the fact that I see your edits all the time)--I'm just a grumpy old person who, oddly, likes to defuse. Take care, and keep up the good work, Drmies (talk) 03:53, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Monetary and fiscal policy of Japan
Hello - I had included an external link to the page "Monetary and fiscal policy of Japan" to a non-commercial English language site that, as far as I am aware, is the only website in English that is regularly tracking developments in Japanese fiscal policy including tracking the relevant committees in the Japanese Finance and other ministries as well as linking to other private sector think tanks and similar that address Japanese fiscal policy. I see that you deleted this link. Was this an error or did you have some reason to think that this link was inappropriate could you say why?
Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 126.126.16.152 (talk) 03:41, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- I mistook it for spam. Feel free to add it back. My apologies, I dream of horses (T) @ 03:47, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Football at the 1920 Summer Olympics
I've left a talkback on my page. Plus: The article in its current state is barely readable in parts, due to poor English. It needs a rewrite and verification (information added since last time lacks any source and is a very big claim of malfeasance). Further, the labels need reorganizing: the game for the eighth place was NOT part of the Consolation Tournament, so it should be under a separate heading (that game was only necessary after the disqualification of one of the finalists). Please remove vandalism tag, since I was providing properly formatted material, sourced. --24.68.76.74 (talk) 04:46, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, I Dream of Horses. I have repaired the article using the instructions given by the IP editor and placed an explanation and welcoming stuff on his talk page. Thank you for the barnstar, by the way. Regards, --Diannaa (Talk) 04:56, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- "Her," actually. Thank you to you both. I hope my IP does not have any "vandalism" flag at this point. --24.68.76.74 (talk) 05:27, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- I crossed mine out. I will remove it to be sure. Sorry for calling you a "him". --Diannaa (Talk) 05:34, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Alexandra Castillo
I've declined the speedy tag you placed on Alexandra Castillo. The reason I declined it is because the article asserts what seems to be at least marginal notability, as the subject had played a named role in Taken In Broad Daylight. well yes,
I did fall for the old, "Anyone can edit this page" line, but really, I do know better than to edit a user page and there was nothing in what I posted that needs to stay. I frequently click on the user pages of editors with whom I cross paths and seeing the birthday link and then finding April 13 (but not 1948) I got excited and posted. Life is supposed to be interesting. Carptrash (talk) 16:51, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, that is a very interesting fact shared by us.
- April 13th--hopefully you weren't born on a Friday! I dream of horses (T) @ 18:38, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- Shared by you, me, and 1 in 365 or so other folks. No, not a Friday, though they have popped up as birthdays every 7 years or so. Carptrash (talk) 19:30, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Apologies for the Jesse Duplantis paragraph delete
Sorry about deleting the Controversy paragraph on the Jesse Dunplantis page. I am a total newbie to all of this. I didnt mean to completely delete the paragraph, my intension was to actually move it down a couple of paragraphs as i dont believe its right for that to be the first impression left on someone wanting to know more about this person. Irrespective of the controversy, you go to any other biography and the first paragraph is in relation to their early life then progressing from there. I understand wikipedia strive for articles that advocate no single point of view however once i'd read the first paragraph i felt as though an opinion, which was one sided had been imposed on me when i would have much preferred to read the rest of the article first. That being said, again i apologies for the edit, it's probably much safer i leave that to people who know what they're doing!!! :) --Fought4thinking (talk) 10:24, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, how about you go ahead and do what you were doing, and I leave it as it is for people who know about Jesse Dunplantis to correct, if there's something to correct? I dream of horses (T) @ 14:48, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks :) I've gone ahead and moved the paragraph further down into the article this way at least, if nothing else the article is starting off on a positive note! Thanks for your help! --Fought4thinking (talk) 21:00, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- No problem. Please don't let this get in the way of being bold. I dream of horses (T) @ 21:37, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
