Hey, do you know how to make a transparent background. I see you tagged my image, but I have no idea how to remove white backgrounds since Paint doesn't have any transparent feature. Giggett (talk) 20:56, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
- It was User:Stefan2 that tagged the image. I don't know anything about that either. You'll have to ask him. INeverCry 21:32, 22 March 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Chicago machine (political machine)
[edit]Hello. I am writing regarding your recent speedy deletion of Chicago machine (political machine). I believe that Chicago machine (political machine) was nominated for speedy deletion as a "recently created article that duplicates an existing article" in error, firstly in that Chicago machine (political machine) and Democratic Party of Cook County are not duplicate topics; they are closely related but separate and distinct topics. Also, please note that Chicago machine (political machine) was only "recently created" in the limited sense that yesterday an editor moved Chicago machine (political machine) to Democratic Party of Cook County and created Chicago machine (political machine) as a redirect to Democratic Party of Cook County. Further, please note that the same editor who, after asking fellow editors to obtain consensus on a talk page, unilaterally nominated the page for speedy deletion without consensus. Please briefly scan Talk:Democratic Party of Cook County to see the mutual call for consensus and the lack of consensus on the issue of whether Chicago machine (political machine) and Democratic Party of Cook County are duplicates. Sorry this background was not included in the nomination. Sorry to bother, it would be a big help if we can please restore the deleted page Chicago machine (political machine) pending ongoing attempts to forge consensus at Talk:Democratic Party of Cook County. Thank you. Hugh (talk) 01:49, 24 March 2013 (UTC)
- I don't remember the deletion, but it looks to have just been a blank page or redirect, and so the deletion may not have been exactly correct. I see several moves from you and the other guy, but I'm not quite sure what content you want restored or what moves reversed, etc? This is just a blank leftover from the move as is. If you want to move something back to this title, I'd think you'd want this redirect to stay deleted? I'm a bit confused about this one at the moment. INeverCry 06:39, 24 March 2013 (UTC)
Hi I Never. Did you see my argument in favor of keeping this article based on the very substantial coverage in reliable independent sources (the basis for establishing notability)? I had requested at least an Article for Deletion hearing so it could be debated. Now that you have deleted it I would appreciate it if you could move it to my userspace so I can continue to work on it. Thank you. Candleabracadabra (talk) 23:02, 24 March 2013 (UTC)

Dame Yasmin Bevan
[edit]Hi,
I think you have deleted the page 'Yasmin Bevan' - this page is linked to from various pages in Wikipedia including this one. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Dames_Commander_of_the_Order_of_the_British_Empire
Dame Yasmin is one of the most influential leaders in education in the United Kingdom and advises this and previous governments. You will also find her mentioned across the national media sites.
What is the reason for the deletion - what needs improving etc — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tr17b (talk • contribs) 14:39, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
- That was a mistake on my part. I've restored the article. INeverCry 18:06, 22 March 2013 (UTC)OK. Thank you.
- I can confirm that the article Yasmin Bevan is genuinely notable and should not have been deleted. Barney the barney barney (talk) 19:59, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
Steve Lillywhite Photo deletion
[edit]Hi - you deleted a photo I uploaded: File:Steve Lillywhite at Electric Lady Studios 2012.jpeg (F9: Media file copyright violation without fair use or credible claim of permission.)
Can you tell me why? I took the photo of Steve Lillywhite and also work with Steve Lillywhite in his management office. So to be clear - I own the photo - have allowed it to be used freely and further have done so under the authority of the person in the photograph. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mary Palmer (talk • contribs) 19:54, 25 March 2013 (UTC)

Bell X1 St. Anne's Park Photo Deletion?
[edit]Hi - hope you are well. You deleted a photo I uploaded for Bell X1 in St. Anne's Park. [edit]Hi, why did you delete this image? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ankur489Betageri239.jpg I had mentioned clearly that it was taken by me in Jan 2006. [edit]Hi, You deleted my entry for Dj Steel due to copyright infringement on www.DjSteelworldwide.com/epk.html but this is my website. What do I need to include to prove that it is in fact my site? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Steelworldwide (talk • contribs) 19:09, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
- You can place an explicit free license for the content directly on your website, or you can contact WP:OTRS to give permission for use. INeverCry 20:22, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
To place an explicit free license on my website, is it just something that I can write on my website? I personally created my website so this would be easy to do but I would like to just be clear if this is what you are referring to? I am having trouble getting help on this issue. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Steelworldwide (talk • contribs) 22:42, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
- See http://en.citizendium.org/ (at bottom) for an example. Your article would also have to meet the requirements of WP:N, by using WP:RS. You would have to take a look at WP:COI as well. INeverCry 23:57, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
human factors lab
[edit]Hi - you deleted the page for the band Human Factors Lab saying it was advertising. The content was not advertising anything,it was a short bio of the band. This was explained in the "talk" section of the page when the advertising thing was first mentioned. Was the deleted by mistake? If not what can be done to reinstate this page? The point is not to advertise but to simply have correct information regarding human factors lab listed — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.87.149.228 (talk) 04:18, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
- You have to show why the band meets WP:N using WP:RS. Otherwise it just looks like a Facebook entry/promo. INeverCry 18:28, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
This appears to be an attack page, but I'm not certain. It points to Wikipedysta:Micha%C5%82_Sobkowski, but something tells me his grasp of English is not as poor as the user and talk page appears. Hello Sir! I just want your intervention at Mukti Bahini. I added 'facts and figures' from neutral, Pakistani, and Bangladeshi sources, but two editors collaborated and reverted my edits. I did clean-ups and fixes in the Artcle too but they were reverted too, but they were reverted too with the reason of "junk". I had started the discussion at talk about the references for figures of killed Biharis, but the two editors combined reverted everything. They say that the references that I have provided them are not accessible to them(And This is not a reason of removing them). Instead of discussion at talk, where I had started discussion, they reverted my edits. An editor requested another on his talk, and then they both collaborated. They also made comments against my approved rollback request here. About the references for Bihari killings, they say that they are not accessible. I am new to Wikipedia relatively, and thus I came to you for Administrator intervention as I don't have any collaborator. I request to you to go through the Article's history and the Talk's history, I did not engage in edit war but they tried their best. Now you are only my hope. I have requested some other Administrators too! Please Sir! HELP! Faizan (talk) 14:13, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
- And in this diff, you can see that editor's humor. Faizan (talk) 14:19, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
- And you can also see Bbb23's comments here. Faizan (talk) 15:49, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
- INeverCry, I think you might want to reconsider your decision to give Faizan rollback privileges at WP:PERM/R. Even Faizan apparently doesn't think they're very an experienced editor ("I am new to Wikipedia relatively" above). Based on their recent history at least, I would hold off. Regards.--Bbb23 (talk) 16:19, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
- Hi everyone. I'm not going to yank rollback from Faizan quite yet. It looks to me like Faizan's making good faith efforts to discuss this and get things figured out, and things have calmed down at the disputed article. I would suggest to Faizan that he follow the advice given here by Bbb23 concerning dispute resolution, and continue to participate in discussion, while taking a break from editing the article. Also, be careful when/how you revert and make sure you're not edit-warring, which is a problem even if you feel you're right or are in fact right. It's definitely better to step back, calm down for a bit, and figure out constructive ways to resolve issues.
Hopefully some consensus can be reached on whether the sources/info that Faizan wishes to add are acceptable according to policy, with opinions from more than just the 3 editors involved right now. Also, I have to say that I don't like to see someone's edits called "junk", and further that User:Freemesm is certainly not a neutral party in this, and that he's amped this up a bit too much. I know it's tough to keep these kinds of disputes from getting heated, but hopefully this can be handled in a calmer, more respectful manner going forward. INeverCry 19:56, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
- I just check Faizan's contribution list and get that he start a talk here. I am requesting you to see the discussion in Mukti Bahini this article's talk page. First of all I tell Faizan to enlighten me about the source info, as those are not accessible for me. He denied that, that's way I request DS to join with us. DS has vast knowledge on this issue. I don't think, I've violated any wiki policy. I am not trying to bias this article. Challenging controversial statement and reference is my responsibility. Could you please tell me how I amped this up a bit too much? You should check these [1] [2] [3] and then judge who amped this up. If I did anything wrong, please let me know that by leaving a message on my talk page. Thanks.--FreemesM (talk) 20:45, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
- I think your comments at Faizan's request for rollback only served to make the situation more confrontational, which is what I meant by "amping it up". I don't suggest any bias on your part, only that you've done a good ammount of editing to the article in question, and so you have a personal stake or interest in it's content. As I say above, it would be better to try and resolve the dispute by getting the opinions of non-involved editors in dispute resolution if necessary. INeverCry 21:32, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
- But approaching to 4 admins at a time, does it make seance?--FreemesM (talk) 21:50, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
- Dear FreemesM! I already told Bbb23 that from now on, in case of dispute I will not contact more administrator like I did now, so you need now worries about that! And please do furhter discussion at the Article's talk instead of here! Faizan (talk) 08:51, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
- Sir INeverCry, I am really sorry that I got your precious time wasted, I will not disturb you anymore. Actually they are trying to make the situation more confrontational everywhere, as the user did at my new article too. Anyway, it is their right and I am ready to contest. I will keep myself calm and away from the conflicted article of Mukti Bahini, and try to explain the references I wanted to add there. After explaining references I will get opinion from non-involved editors. And Sir, I did not involve in edit war with rollback privileges, Thanking you! Faizan (talk) 08:51, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

DRUNK TANK
[edit]Hello...I put up my very first and only post about the long running Vancouver Punk Rock band DRUNK TANK which gave a brief history of the releases, it's band members the current album recording sessions, (which are still happening, we will be doing a launch soon)...as well as mentioning the previous bands members have come from...including one of Canada's longest running and most recorded Crust/Hardcore Punk bands, "System Shit"...of which 3 members of DRUNK TANK are ex members...DRUNK TANK, (after this release, are soon to be renamed "D.T.'s", because we found out about several "Drunktank's"....so we changed our wording/logo but after this album, will abbreviate the name....Anyways i think this article is worthy because we are on various compilation albums and have played with many notable acts...such as The Subhumans, JP5, Ron Reyes of Black Flag, The Jolts, Toxic Holocaust, D.O.A. and local Authour Chris Walter. The article was deleted so quickly last night that it freaked me out...it being my first time trying to make a page....Can you Please put it back up and allow me to (eventually) update it when the new album comes out...or tell me what's wrong, what i should change etc. etc....
p.s. i included two links...one to a cheesy home made video of a very early rare demo...and one to our Facebook page.

Novelist navbox is a great idea. However, if someone does both poems and novels they should get both categories. I don't think they should only have to produce novels.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 16:04, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick response. I only mentioned the poet navbox cat by way of comparison; any applicable cat should certainly be added to each navbox as you point out. Writer Navboxes
[edit]P.S. I have been trolling through WP:VA looking for navboxes to do. I think I have it down to about a dozen writers remaining. The one that I think is going to be the hardest is {{Aesop}}. Any interest in tackling that one?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 16:11, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of Pages
[edit]Hi INeverCry,
I was wondering if you could help me with some page deletions. There are a few new pages that I curated that I felt should be deleted. However, rather than deleting them I left a message on the creator's talk page asking them to improve the pages because they are in danger of deletion. They have not responded in any way after a few days and I still feel the pages should be deleted. They are: The Johnny and Inel Show, Paradise Lost in Cyberspace, Shaa: The Neverending World. I want to delete them under criteria A7 but what do you think?
Thanks, Sosthenes12 (talk) 18:03, 1 April 2013 (UTC)Sosthenes12
- Creative works like these can't be deleted under WP:CSD#A7. You would have to use WP:PROD or WP:AFD if you don't think they can be improved or that reliable sources can't be found. INeverCry 18:16, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
ED's poems
[edit]Hello, INeverCry. Over that past several days, I've been making pretty massive edits to List of Emily Dickinson poems. I'm not done yet, but I feel that after a bit more work it should bid fair to be a featured list. You seem to be the poetry rater. Do you have any advice for me as I slog toward completion? Thanks. Phil wink (talk) 23:40, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- That certainly is impressive, but I'm used to rating articles, and I have only one failed co-attempt at an FL long ago on List of Russian explorers. I would suggest that you check out Wikipedia:Featured lists#Literature_and_theatre and see what if anything you can get from looking thru those FLs or if any of the authors of those FLs can advise you. You could also do a Wikipedia:Peer review. INeverCry 00:35, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

IMOS page deletion
[edit]Hi, a page awaiting approval was deleted for copyright infringement. When I looked at the link associated with the infringement I realised that my office wrote the original content which was then used by the other party as part of their newsletter (with the permission of my office). This information has been used broadly. Is it possible to retrieve the page at least to be able to amend the portion that has caused the issue? Alternatively could you offer some advice? Thank you

Hello, you deleted the page Jaws Project on the basis that it had been deleted over two years ago, in 2010. But since two years ago to now, much has changed.
The page has been deleted so fast that I haven't had the time to reply and then there was no discussion. Also, consider that the page is not a copy of the 2010 deleted page, because it's an original work written by me.
I can't read the 2010 page, nor you, so you can't apply the previous criterion, but you should have at least a new one or you should explain why the previous criterion should apply also on the new page.
Where is the "delete discussion"? Can I read it?
Please reconsider the publication of the page, I will be happy to work with you and other users in order to create an encyclopedic quality voice. Simply, do not delete the work done, which I think is already of reasonable quality compared to many other articles in the same category, but help to improve it with suggestions on how to make it better. Thanks Piskunov (talk) 16:35, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
- As an administrator, I can still view the page. The problem here is that you didn't provide any WP:RS to establish WP:N, which was the issue with the earlier version as well. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jaws Project (2nd nomination). INeverCry 17:01, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, you're right, I did not put any reference. I'll fix it for the future.
Please, could you copy and paste the old page in my talk page, so that I can give it a read?
Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Piskunov (talk • contribs) 17:26, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Dear INEVERCRY,
I am IP 24, messaging you from another computer under a different IP. I think it has become apparent that you have locked the article, Gregory the Great and have locked me for 72 hours. I think your actions have been unfair and uncalled for. My opinion is that you should of had messaged me what I was doing wrong before you went straight to locking the article and locking me. I was trying to keep the main picture for the article the same, and if you read the talk page for the article Gregory the Great than you would of had seen my comments to try to convince other users to keep the picture. I am not trying to threaten you, but I feel as if your action were uncalled for and un necessary. If you feel as if you can justify your actions, then please message me.

Hi, As you've been the main editor for this article, I thought I'd bring your attention to an anomaly in the second paragraph of the Early life section. I don't have the resources to confirm which way to fix it. The first sentence says that she was the youngest of five children, yet the dates given for her sisters make her older than them. Best, Beeswaxcandle (talk) 03:14, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of Gabriela Di Laccio
[edit]Dear Sir or Madam,
Can you please help to understand why you have deleted the page of Gabriela Di Laccio? Miss Di Laccio is a current artist - a lyric coloratura soprano like many others already listed on Wikipedia and who currently has a successful career in the UK and abroad. Can you please help me to understand why her page was deleted?
I am looking forward to hearing from you.

- What kind of an edit summary is "added Category:Deletion of Gabriela Di Laccio using HotCat"? As for the article, it was deleted because it didn't demonstrate the subject's WP:N using WP:RS. INeverCry 04:24, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
Promotional sandboxes
[edit]Thank you for your comment; you will note that I did not state that sandbox postings are wholly immune. I am prepared to be proved wrong in my assertion, but I have worked on the basis that user pages which are promotional are deletable (no argument there, I believe), and user sub-pages that are promotional are similarly removed ASAP. A sandbox is regarded as a work in progress; if it is promotional it will qualify for deletion if posted into article space, but may in the course of its creation cease to be promotional. Furthermore, a sandbox article is not going to be seen by the ordinary editor unless they probe in depth through another editor's pags, and the promotion is therefore virual rather than real. for the record, although much of my admin work is in CSD, I see very few nominations of sandboxes, although I do see a fair number of nominated subpages.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 10:14, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
- When it comes to G12, I would figure that Wikipedia can't host copyvio material anywhere on its servers, even sandboxes. With G11 and most of the other general criteria, policy indicates that userpages are subject to deletion, and sandboxes are subpages of userpages. As a new admin (here), I took my CSD que from looking at how RHaworth and others were doing things, and I didn't see anyone decline these sandbox speedies till yesterday. Having a speedy declined can definitely be discouraging to patrollers, and so I wouldn't want to do this unless I had a really good reason. I can't think of any such reason in relation to spam and/or copyvio sandboxes. I do deletion requests on Commons all the time for promo images and text logos, and I've seen literally hundreds that are connected to old stale sandboxes here and on other wikis. Question
[edit]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronny_Emborg
Please tell me why the article on the danish chef Ronny Emborg keeps getting A7. The guy is one of the most famous danish chefs - like other danish chefs René Redzepi and Rasmus Kofoed, who ARE on wikipedia.
Foodies from all over the world fly in to try chef Emborgs kitchen. You might have missed this, but Denmark is a powerhouse in restaurants and Ronny was good enough to make it to Forbes, why is he not good enough for Wikipedia?
If he was just a chef on a normal restaurant I would understand, but try google the guy. He is relevant.
You also gave it a G11, which is promotional - please tell me where do you see ANYTHING, that is not factual. There are no positive words. It's FACTS where he has worked, which is everywhere on ALL other chefs on wikipedia.
This makes nok sense. Looking forward to your answer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rasmusschou (talk • contribs) 12:23, 5 April 2013
- You have to show the subject's WP:N using WP:RS. Otherwise it looks like promotion of a non-notable person. INeverCry 17:13, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
Griffin (band)
[edit]Want to explain why you thought Griffin (Band) should be deleted? It was formed by musicians all but one of whom were to become major musicians, for instance the drummer of Yes (band); the bassist went on to work with Ginger Baker, Bert Jansch, Alvin Lee and Van Morrison amongst others. That seems to me to be reason enough to document it, and reason enough for it to be important. Pemboid (talk) 21:13, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
- The band may very well be notable, but you have to use reliable sources to demonstrate their notability. INeverCry 21:44, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
- Sure, but you deleted it in the middle of me composing it... Pemboid (talk) 12:59, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
- You might want to work on it in a sandbox like User:Pemboid/Griffin (band) until it's well enough developed to be moved to the mainspace article page. INeverCry 17:47, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
- How will I know if it is well-developed enough without it being whipped out from under my feet? Pemboid (talk) 15:57, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

Dev Ross
[edit]Hi! Please let me know why deleted the page on Dev Ross. Another reviewer was already working on this. The page was not a copyright: 1) I am working on a Wiki article for a television show Dev is producing and the show is "an orphan. 2) There are MANY Wiki articles already referencing Dev, so rather than list all of those sites, I wrote Dev's bio. 3) The first place I looked for the bio was on IMDb, but she didn't have a current one, so I contacted Dev, received her information, created the bio, and posted it on IMDd. 4) Then I posted MY ORIGINAL WORK on Wiki, as a stub to create a page for Dev, ADDITIONALLY linking many of the independent Wiki references from other authors as well as over five outside links and referencing her awards, such as Emmy and Humanitas. 5) My goal was to then link the television show page to this one of Dev's, which would be linked to other Wiki pages, and, therefore, I would no longer have "an orphan". The copyright issue was explained and Dev's contributions to society noted in the associated "talk" page and I was working well with another editor, so I don't know why you just deleted the page. What can be done to remedy the situation? Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smacorder (talk • contribs) 21:45, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

Article on Orla Watson
[edit]This article was deleted even after I responded why it should not be deleted. There was no explanation, just the words "this page has been deleted". I submitted my explanation on why Orla Watson, the inventor of the modern shopping cart, should be granted a Wikipedia entry. I asked the question "If Sylvan Goldman, the inventor of a no-longer used shopping cart based on a folding chair design has his own Wikipedia entry, then why can not Orla Watson, the inventor of the modern nesting cart be allowed to have a Wikipedia entry?"
I am fairly new to contributing articles, but I would have thought that some explanation be given prior to eliminating a very important piece of retail history. Yes, I know it is about a lowly shopping cart, but people take for granted their existence.
Help me out here. Was the format incomplete? Were there errors that I needed to clean up? Do I need to provide a better biography with more information? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alanwilliams101 (talk • contribs) 21:51, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
- I've restored it and moved it: Orla Watson. I would suggest improving this with more bio info, better WP:RS, etc, otherwise it may get deleted again. INeverCry 23:03, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
- Wasn't it deleted under A:10 because it duplicates content found in Shopping cart? --JetBlast (talk) 23:06, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
- I've restored this because, after looking it over again, I think the subject's got atleast a possible claim to notability. Also, it introduces him somewhat as a person, giving his bd and dd. Without improvement, though, perhaps an AFD would be in order. Since this cart invention was his claim to fame, details about it will necessarily be foremost in the article. INeverCry 23:16, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks! I will do my best to make this a better article. Thanks also for changing the title to Orla Watson (instead of watson). Alanwilliams101 — Preceding Alanwilliams101 comment added by Alanwilliams101 (talk • contribs) 01:06, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

Union Square Ventures page deletion
[edit]I re-created the page for Union Square Ventures a bit ago. I am not affiliated with them. I used, as a template, one of the entries from one of the other of the scores of venture capital firms that have Wikipedia entries (i.e. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kleiner_Perkins or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sequoia_Capital.) I'm a bit confused about why it was considered unambiguous promotion. The firm is one of the leaders in the industry in the United States, so they would seem deserving of an entry. If it was worded poorly, I apologize, but I'd prefer a chance to remedy that.
NYC Avidya (talk) 03:20, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
- Taking a look at the deleted copy, it would take a complete rewrite in order to pass current notability requirements. In short, it wasn't an article, it was a list with virtually no prose or proper sourcing of facts that establish notability. The list of investments are completely improper in an encyclopedia article, for starters. Once you remove all the listing and the dubious Business Insider link, you are literally left with two sentences that were sourced. It might be notable, but you would need to establish why in the lede, and avoid the name dropping and investment lists to get it through WP:AFC. Based on our current standards, I think INeverCry made the right call on this. Even if it was created back when our standards were more lax, it didn't pass muster now and has just slipped through the cracks for a while. You can always try WP:Deletion Review but this seems pretty cut and dry without a complete rewrite. Dennis Brown - 2¢ © Join WER 03:39, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
- Can you point me to the deleted copy? I did hope that having put in a stub others would add to it. The firm is notable, they are the top performing venture firm in the world, so it seems an anomaly to exclude this article. If they do not deserve an entry, then almost none of the firms on this list do. I'd prefer having an entry and asking for improvement than deletion. NYC Avidya (talk) 12:03, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
- Only admin can see the deleted version, but if you ask INeverCry, I'm sure he would userfy a copy (restore and move to your own user space). And you might be right that many other articles need deleting. We can only look at what others have submitted for deletion, there are over 4 million articles on Wikipedia, and probably less than 40 admin that actually review speedy deletions. I seldom do, myself. Dennis Brown - 2¢ © Join WER 12:20, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
- It would seem consistency of review in any given subject matter would be as important as level of review. Related: why has this particular page been deleted three times when similarly written peers have never been deleted? Seems statistically improbable. NYC Avidya (talk) 13:08, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
- See WP:OTHERSTUFF. I have no idea why this one was selected in particular. We delete tons of other articles every day. If you have a list of articles that similarly need deleting, feel free to drop them off here or on my talk page, either of us would be happy to review them. You have to remember, INeverCry didn't single out this article, he was patrolling the list of articles that are tagged for speedy delete (Category:Candidates for speedy deletion), and makes the call on a number of articles, both to keep or not keep. This was just one of them. Odds are, he has never seen this article at all before the day he deleted it. That is the norm. It isn't personal, it is just what we do as admin, mop up what others point out, patrol areas and keep the place tidy. We aren't paid for this, we volunteer and go under peer review in order to be a servant for the community. You won't get far if you take it personal or make claims about statistical impossibilities. Dennis Brown - 2¢ © Join WER 13:25, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
- Not criticizing you. Just frustrated. It's a lot of work to write an article. Not your fault that it was tagged, and it looks like I might have written it while not logged in, so I was never warned of its deletion. I do think the firm is notable; it's absence seems a hole in the venture capital coverage. I'd like a chance to improve the article. Thanks. - It had plenty of problems. It was tagged as an orphan in 2009, and has no WP:RS to show WP:N. The only links I'm seeing on google search are download sites. I don't think G11 is too big a stretch on this one. The fact that you seem to be one of the creators of the software bothers me too. I'm not going to restore it. INeverCry 03:45, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

I do not contest this deletion in any way. It was clearly, as labeled, a blatant hoax - it was in fact complete and utter nonsense possessed of total disregard for the integrity of this fine website. However, the article was composed as a creative project for one of my college courses, and the eponymous instructor was quite amused. I was wondering if you could provide me with the content information of that page, or some permanent form of it, such as a pdf or screencap, for his private enjoyment and personal publication. It would be much appreciated
Thank you in advance for your patience and assistance, and my retrospect apologies for the inconvenience and irreverence.

- Perhaps the person who tagged this was saying that the website indicated gives the book and other sources copied from? The article does read like a collection of book excerps, and it looks like the material sourced is copied directly from the source. This seems to apply to alot of the text. I saw that you had approved one yesterday, so since I'm in a bit of a time crunch I figured you were a good admin to try. Thank you so much! Inks.LWC (talk) 18:07, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

Beauty Queen
[edit]I'm not sure what's going on here. I may have tagged the wrong article, or this bot edit could've broken something. My intent was for Beauty Queen (TV series) to be deleted so Beauty Queen (Philippine TV series) could be moved there. Could you take another look at this? You are the most recent deleting administrator for the page Hymac. Would you be willing to WP:USERFY all revisions of this page to User:Technical_13/Drafts/HyMac. I would like to go through and reword it and attempt to build it up to be a WP:FA some day with a complete history because it seems they may have a lot of that. Thank you. - The early history of the page shows that it was created as a redirect to Steelfab in 2010 and maintained as one till Jan of this year. Then someone broke the redirect, and the page was CSDed G11. The only revisions that made this an actual article, done on Apr 3, have been deleted for copyvio. I can't userfy something deleted under G12. Also, the whole content is a paragraph and a half of unreffed basic details about the company. You deleted the page I created on Yale_Union Contemporary Arts. I added an extensive explanation in the Talk section that explained the information that I was going to add on the main page and which provided a number of links to verify its reputability. I said that it would only be a matter of days before I could reword the things I left in the talk section and fill in the main page. Can you explain why you deleted it? I'm a new user but I think there was enough info on there to verify that it is a known institution. OR drohowa (talk) 18:27, 13 April 2013 (UTC)OR drohowa 13 April 2013

Hey INeverCry,
Just wanted to give you a heads up about your recent deleting of Model Technical Higher Secondary School,Kaprassery. I'm not contesting it, as it did apply for the speedy deletion criterion which was stated in your notes. However, the deleted redirect had incoming links that were on at least two pages in the article space. I ended up fixing them myself (since I was the one involved with the original bold move, and already knew about their existence.) So yeah, just wanted to let you know. Given this how was this an "unambiguous copyright violation"? Scott Illini (talk) 04:31, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- That site states directly that it is made up of user contributed material. At the bottom you'll see this:
"Like all of the content in CrunchBase, Media Files can be uploaded and edited by anyone with an Internet connection and are not subject to monitoring by the CrunchBase staff.
- This means that any of the material or media may very well not be the property of the contributor, but could be taken from anywhere and placed on the site. This means that the CC-BY license isn't backed by a sufficient copyright claim and isn't trustworthy. INeverCry 06:52, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- "By uploading data and media files to CrunchBase, you grant permission to CrunchBase and other sites to access under the conditions of Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY) and that third parties will provide attribution by linking to CrunchBase. You should not upload media files that cannot be offered under CC-BY or another compatible license." That addresses copyright. As to trustworthiness, please put the article back and I'll add some citations. Thanks. Scott Illini (talk) 19:50, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- That doesn't address copyright. These uploaders and contributors may not have the right to release their contributions under a free license, considering that they may not be the actual copyright holders of the material. "You should not" doesn't mean people won't or don't contribute and upload material that is copyrighted by others without their knowledge or permission. I'm not going to restore the article. - Yes, we have oversight, we can request citations, we can flag content, etc. You are actively pre-empting that oversight process. You are penalizing authors for having first authored content on CrunchBase, and declaring that content poisonous because it was first posted elsewhere. That makes no sense. If I first posted something on WikipediaPrime, and then migrated it here, you would delete it because WikipediaPrime lacks "oversight"? But if I first posted it here, that would be okay? Your demand that content be exclusively posted to Wikipedia first negates the collaborative value of creative commons licensing. Scott Illini (talk) 23:55, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- You're not understanding me. I'm saying that the contributors of CrunchBase can steal the work of others and post it on CrunchBase as their own under a free license if they want to. In any event, I'm not going to restore the article. Period. INeverCry 00:02, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
- That work is a valid Creative Commons work. It is no different than a Creative Commons image, and such images are added to Wikipedia all the time. Your personal theory that CrunchBase is a den of nefarious activity is unwarranted and unsourced. Scott Illini (talk) 00:20, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of Kettle Collective
[edit]Hello INeverCry,
You deleted the page, Kettle Collective which I created. I understand why you did this now as there wasn't evidence of 'substantial' coverage included yet. I have now found many more articles from trusted sources to back up it's significance. These sources include BDonline http://www.bdonline.co.uk/news/rmjms-tony-kettle-sets-up-on-his-own/5044013.article, e-architect http://www.e-architect.co.uk/architects/kettle_collective.htm, Urban Realm http://www.urbanrealm.com/news/3791/Ex-RMJM_colleagues_set_up_Kettle_Collective.html and Architects Journal http://www.architectsjournal.co.uk/news/daily-news/former-rmjm-big-hitters-set-up-new-scottish-practice/8637069.article. These articles illustrate the significance of the start up company due to the experience and ex-companies of its directors being of interest.
I would like to request that this article is reinstated so that I can work on making it more evidence based. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KC1tstevenson (talk • contribs) 08:59, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

Admin prep
[edit]Thanks for your support. I had actually considered throwing my hat into the ring this week, but I had an image removed a few days ago, and decided the timing was poor. I want to follow up on that removal at the Village Pump so I can make sure I refine my understanding of the rules.
I had done some work at Commons:Deletion requests in December, but have been concentrating on other things in the last few months. I would be happy to do some of the copyvio and out of scope review, however, your link was to media needing categories. While I understand that need, I don't see that as a top priority. - Hi, thought I'd let you know this article was moved out of Scottgramble's userspace into the article space by an account sharing the name of the article's subject. I've moved it to Afc since I'm not sure this guy is notable enough as there doesn't seem to have been extensive coverage on him and large pieces of the article are unsourced or supported by unreliable sources. I also left a comment mentioning it had been edited by the article's subject, which was vandalized by an IP address. Regards, --BigPimpinBrah (talk) 18:33, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

- For what it's worth, the article was put in WP:AFC without a timestamp. I restored an older, properly-dated AFC tag and moved to Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Jaylen Bledsoe (2) (note the lowercase "c"). It was still way too promotional in tone so I declined it with a recommendation that editors affiliated with this person drop the idea about writing an article about her. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 03:43, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
- Okay, I have no idea with what's going on with my article. I'm unsure why the page was first moved to public space, moved back, then declined. All, I know that this community is not a well community to work with if your new to the system because a ton of wanna-be administrators will shoot you down. I guess if I'm going to keep being shot down, please delete my article and my account if possible. Scottgramble (talk) 12:34, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
- Are you able to make those deletions? Scottgramble (talk) 00:42, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

There's still a chance of this becoming an acceptable article though. I have no direct reason to delete it at the moment. INeverCry 00:56, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
- At this point what can I do to improve it? I don't have additional sources at the moment. Scottgramble (talk) 02:03, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
- There's no hurry. Right now these AFCs can sit for a year before being eligible for deletion. More refs are needed, and over time newer and better ones will likely become available. INeverCry 02:08, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of "Nino Micozzi"
[edit]This is a response to your deletion of the article "Nino Micozzi". I think the article should not have been deleted or at least more specific feedbacks and comments should have been posted explaining what exactly was missing in order to make the article become "encyclopedic". I provided 7 different references and I just want to assure that Nino Micozzi is at the same level of Lelio (Les) Marino, which seems to have a Wikipedia article that provides far more less information than I provided on Nino Micozzi : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lelio_Marino
The information I provided on Nino Micozzi was rather similar to what's written on Lelio Marino (I mentioned his company, and his donations to Mitt Romney and Scott Brown's campaigns plus his vast real estate empire of apartments). Lelio Marino used to have a similar business but almost nothing is said about his biography in the article. I also edited part of it myself, but I am still surprised on how that article remains immune while my article on Nino Micozzi (which has more references and facts) has been deleted because of "lack of significance".
With having that said, how can I make sure that the page "Nino Micozzi" can remain on Wikipedia permantly?
Thanks in advance
- The Lelio Marino article is currently being considered for deletion. As for yours, you have to establish WP:N using WP:RS. INeverCry 16:42, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
But I've provided 7 different sources which were written in reliable business articles, and a few sources were from the company's site. I mean, sending 500k to Mitt Romney, owning almost 3000 apartments and financing Scott Brown it's not unworthy.. And I live in Massachusetts, I hear a lot about him. Anyway, what other sources should I provide? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alex-bellux (talk • contribs) 04:07, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
- 3 of those refs are to the company website, which isn't much good. The others look to be pretty small. We need to see national coverage, with refs like Forbes, Businessweek, or Business Insider, etc. Refs from a newspaper like The Boston Globe would be good too. INeverCry 17:32, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
Ok, so do you mind if you give me a back-up page like this so that I can work on it? User:Alex-bellux/Nino Micozzi

Solomon Butcher
[edit]Thanks for the note on the Butcher photo. I like yours a lot better; it shows Butcher at the time he was working on Pioneer History, whereas the one I uploaded is from considerably later. Your photo's replacing mine in the infobox as soon as I finish this note.
I can't imagine how I missed the Butcher category at Commons. I must have thought that since there was no WP article, there were likely to be no photos uploaded. Glad that you corrected me on that. Ammodramus (talk) 03:36, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for Lillie Butcher too. I suspect that she'll fit into the article: once I write a lead section, the bit where SB marries her should be far enough below the infobox to leave room for a photo. Since she's facing directly toward the camera, I can use her on either the left or the right. I'll want to use the shot of Butcher with his camera facing rightward (so on the left side), but that'll be further down, probably in the section on Pioneer History.
- I'll do the illustrations last (except for the one in the infobox), because then I'll know where they'll fit in the page layout. Nice to have so much material available. Ammodramus (talk) 04:03, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
- I'm glad I happened to see your draft in recent changes. There's nothing I like doing more than finding old photos, especially for such a quality article. INeverCry 04:12, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
- I'm close to launching the Butcher article. As one of the illustrations, I've downloaded the photo of Butcher with the camera facing rightward, cropped it to eliminate the dead space overhead and the margins, then uploaded the new version to Commons as File:Solomon D. Butcher 1886 cropped.jpg. If it wouldn't be any trouble, could you check and see if I handled the licensing OK? Speedy Deletion Rosslare Golf Club
[edit]Can you please un-delete the article I was trying to create which was deleted due to "(A7: Article about a company, corporation, organization, or group, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject)" when there is already numerous articles about similar clubs and the deletion created a link to an empty/non existant page in this article --Bakaattack (talk) 18:33, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
- Those others do a bit better for their subjects than just the basic introductory sentence you gave. I've userfied it for you: User:Bakaattack/Rosslare Golf Club. I would suggest that you build it up to show WP:N with WP:RS before moving it to mainspace again. INeverCry 19:41, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll work on it there, in fairness the article was deleted about 5 mins after I started. Bakaattack (talk) 20:31, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

Test page deletion in user space
[edit]Please don't delete pages in user space with the G2 speedy deletion reason. it explicitly states that " This criterion does not apply to pages in the user namespace". You did this with User:Yolobuttercheese/sandbox. Your deletion of User:Gesinc as G11 promotional is also very dubious, but as the user is now blocked anyway, there's no use in restoring it. - I'll make sure not to do that again. INeverCry 22:34, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
Deletion Question
[edit]Hello, I just saw that you deleted the article I put together on the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Flynn_Center_for_the_Performing_Arts&action=edit&redlink=1) because it violates copyright infringement, but I am unsure of which part did - I am unaware of anything that I put there being copyrighted at all. I'm also wondering if you have any suggestions on what I can do to make it publishable. Thanks so much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LeighC8 (talk • contribs) 18:21, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
- This was deleted for copyvio of http://www.flynncenter.org/about-us/history.html. In order to make this publishable, you have to write it in your own words using WP:RS, but not plagiarizing these sources. INeverCry 18:25, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of article about an important US politician in Nevada, David Lory Vanderbeek
[edit]Fans and foes of David Lory Vanderbeek and mounting in number. You deleted my first article about him, even though I cited real references to newspapers and elsewhere on Wikipedia. Explain yourself the the voters of Nevada. 49,000 of them voted for him in 2012, though he spent under $650 on advertising, a matter of public record. This would be a nice place to do it. Political motives are not allowed in Wikipedia page deletes, of course, and Vanderbeek is vocally anti Communist and anti Socialist. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AnaLarkham (talk • contribs) 13:30, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
- I deleted this because the gentleman doesn't seem notable, (atleast not yet), and because of a lack of WP:RS. Google search doesn't really show much mention beyond small local sources and social media. Most mention next year's race for governor. As for the sources you cited, Elko Daily and Ballotpedia aren't enough to show the importance of a politician. Running for the senate and loosing doesn't necessarily make someone notable. The article also struck me as being written by a supporter, which is an issue. Articles here must be neutral and balanced. INeverCry 20:28, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
Promotional Username?
[edit]Hi INeverCry!
I was patrolling the new pages when I found the user SimoIla who created the page Simona di Michele (AKA Simona Ilaria di Michele). What is the policy for usernames like this?
Sosthenes12 (talk) 17:39, 19 April 2013 (UTC)Sosthenes12
- This is a WP:COI issue, but the name isn't really a violation of username policy. If this account was under a full name, and the person was a well-known celeb, we might have to block the acct, or get proof of ID. As it is, the article has been deleted under A7 and the name is vague enough to be ok. The user's been warned about COI, so we'll see where they go from here. INeverCry 20:34, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
IP Address
[edit]Hi INeverCry!
How do you deal with people using a bare IP address to vandalize pages? The IP address User:199.176.226.1 seems to have a long history of vandalism and contiunes to vandalize even after being blocked multiple times. The last edits by this IP address was on Military Wives. Thanks!
Sosthenes12 (talk) 17:58, 19 April 2013 (UTC)Sosthenes12
- With a shared school IP like this, you'll often see spikes in vandalism and disruptive editing. At these times a block of IP editing may be needed for a short period. If multiple vandalism edits come from this IP and the required warnings don't help, the IP should be reported to WP:AIV. INeverCry 20:38, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

- This page was links and promotion. Theres no WP:RS to establish WP:N. I don't see anything to restore or even userfy. I would suggest that you start over and create a decent article. INeverCry 01:36, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
Hello, you deleted the page Mahaleo, which has been on Wikipedia for years. The article was fairly well developed and described how pivotal this band is. It's like the Rolling Stones of Madagascar. They even had a book and a film documentary made about them in France. Clearly the band is notable. Would you please restore this article? I am the only one working on culture articles for Madagascar and I am gradually improving all the articles on Malagasy bands; Mahaleo was near the top of my list. In addition, you deleted the article I started on Tearano. The article indicated the importance of the band and their role in nationally popularizing the tsapika genre across the island. The band therefore meets notability criteria and the article should not have been deleted. Please restore this article as well. Thank you. Lemurbaby (talk) 05:36, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
- Done. I would suggest you add some WP:RS to the Mahaleo article to prevent another deletion. Expanding the Tearano article and adding WP:RS would be a good idea too. INeverCry 17:49, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
Speedy Deletion nomination for Today Daily News (Toronto)
[edit]Hi, I saw that you deleted my speedy deletion nomination for Today Daily News (Toronto) and wanted to make sure I did not do anything wrong. There are no sources for this article anywhere on the Internet. The only search result for this entity appears to be the Wikipedia article. Just hoping to could help me understood what I might not have noticed or realized about this article that does not make it a candidate for speedy deletion. Thanks ProliferatingJade (talk) 23:39, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry I didn't speak to you about that. I must've forgotten. The paper is mentioned here in connection with a notable partner company. Perhaps the paper is defunct now? Perhaps it merged with another paper or was renamed? I also wonder if a Chinese language search would turn up more sources? In any event, this should be taken to WP:AFD rather than speedied, especially considering it's been around for such a long time. INeverCry 01:20, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

Samizdat in the gulag

- I've re-deleted it. An event that involves only 500 people doesn't sound notable enough for a stand-alone article. You would have to show coverage of the event in WP:RS. INeverCry 17:25, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
- O.k I will add WP:RS. I think that an annual 500 people event from around Europe, that also have a national-religious significance and being sponsored by the EU is actually notable and should have a page. Especially that it is an event that people would google for and want more details. Moreover the Wikipedia Page support actually encourage people to participate and it would help them decide and increase the amount. I'm gonna reload it. pls let it be.... — Preceding unsigned comment added by David.nahum.wiki (talk • contribs) 21:51, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
- I disagree. A tiny event like this doesn't meet WP:N. As for you re-creating it, I already salted the title earlier, so you're not going to be able to so. If you re-create it under a different title, it'll just end up being deleted again. The EUJS itself is notable, but every little event they sponsor isn't. Also, Wikipedia isn't for promoting events or getting publicity for them. INeverCry 22:00, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of Moravia IT's Page
[edit]Dear INeverCry,
I see you deleted the page of Moravia IT at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moravia_IT. I believe this is because of the alleged infringement of copyright of the logo, which I uploaded. The company (which I work for) has undergone a rebranding in 2012 and uses a new logo now. It may be may mistake in incorrectly marking the property of this logo when updating the page, which I wanted to stay current. Can you please restore the page and I will upload the current logo again (it is normally available at www.moravia.com). I think it is a pity if a valid page should be deleted simply because the entity's current logo is not properly tagged.
Or if there was another reason (also to delete the whole page rather than just the image/logo), please let me know.

Reopen and relist RM?
[edit]Hi, thanks for RM close/move but is there a procedure to reopen and relist? Despite 6 supports and the overwhelming conclusion of the WP:TENNISNAMES RfC in July 2012 it seems that Fyunck and Wolbo are going to insist on a "tennis name" being added in the article and edit counter WP:BRD to keep it there. I would expect that if the RM was reopened/relisted and ran for another week the number of supports would likely increase. Is that doable? If not, what's the alternative? Best wishes. In ictu oculi (talk) 04:20, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
- I carried out the move based on consensus (all supports), and that part is done, but an RM doesn't apply to a name detail in the article's lead, or anything other than the actual moving of the article. Any suggested change to the article itself that is controversial should be discussed seperately on the article's talk. INeverCry 05:03, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
- Understood, sensible answer. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:39, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
Deleted Article: Allen Y.C. Yu
[edit]Hi INeveryCry,
You recently deleted an article about Allen Y.C. Yu. This was created as part of a Wikipedia edit-a-thon intended to encourage new editors. I am going through these articles now in order to address any issues identified by the editing community, which I value. I am surprised to see that the article was deleted outright. How might I reinstate it so that the students and I might address the issues you identified?
Many thanks, Megan — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mwacha (talk • contribs) 18:43, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
- I think you mean Albert Y.C. Yu, which is the only similiar title I've deleted. The article was deleted because it contained copyrighted material taken directly from http://goldsea.com/Innovators/Digital/digital2.html. This is a copyright violation, hence the deletion. The article must be started again from scratch and written without using material directly taken from sources word for word. INeverCry 18:55, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
Everest (app) Deletion
[edit]Hello INeverCry,
I see you deleted the page Everest (app) because it appeared to contain promotional language. This page is similar both in length and language to wikipedia pages for other apps such as Vine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vine_(app)) and Path (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Path_(social_network)). Everest is a notable new app, has been written about by reliable press sources and is growing in popularity. Given that Wikipedia contains accepted pages for very similar established apps, I question respectfully why this particular page was chosen for deletion. Thanks!

Rosemont Copper
[edit]Hello INeveryCry,
I noticed that you deleted the Rosemont Copper page. Why was this? Thank you.
Jamesbeatman (talk) 05:33, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
- This was deleted per WP:CSD#G11. The majority of this article sounds like it was written by an advocate to show what a great and conscientious company Rosemont Copper is, and to tell people about all the great things they're going to do. This isn't acceptable. A Wikipedia article about a company should be neutral and stick to straight facts about company history, purpose, statistics, finances, location, etc. Please refer to Wikipedia:Companies, corporations and economic information for basic guidelines. INeverCry 06:28, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
- I have reposted the Rosemont copper page. If you find error with this new posting please point to what sections need to be changed or removed. Better for the Wikipedia community to have sections removed than to delete an entire page. I believe this is an important issue for the people of Arizona and hope this page paints an accurate picture of what is being proposed. Thank you.

User page protection
[edit]Hi. Please remove full protection from your user page. --MZMcBride (talk) 21:11, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
- Why? INeverCry 23:08, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
- Perhaps MZMcBride wanted to update some templates or categories on your userpage (or let others do that). He/she may not request that (it is simply impolite) and can always suggest changes to your userpage on your talk. Cheers. Materialscientist (talk) 03:14, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
- Because there doesn't appear to be a valid reason to fully protect the page. This is a wiki, so any full protection must have a rational basis for it. (That is, we default to openness.) I looked through your user page's history and couldn't find any rational basis for full protection of it. --MZMcBride (talk) 03:18, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
- Userpages are not part of the encyclopedia. Further, "Administrators may protect their own user pages when appropriate", i.e. at their discretion. Experience tells that the userpage of any active admin is a potential vandalism target. Materialscientist (talk) 03:28, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
- I don't believe anyone suggested that user pages are part of the encyclopedia proper. I did assert that user pages are part of the wiki, though. Any wiki page can be the target of potential vandalism. I don't see your point.
- Both the protection policy and the user pages guideline are pretty clear that pages should only be protected as necessary (generally in response to ongoing and uncontrollable vandalism or edit warring). There's nothing in either document that suggests that willy-nilly full protection is acceptable. In fact, there are quite a few comments stating exactly the opposite.
- Regardless, I don't think it's a good use of time to focus on the letter of policies or guidelines. I've assessed the user page and its history (1,034 edits, only one contributor, fully protected from editing). In response to this assessment, I asked that the page protection be reduced. I'm still waiting for a reply to my request from the protecting admin. There may be a perfectly valid reason to fully protect this user page, but I haven't yet found one. --MZMcBride (talk) 03:45, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
- My quote above is from a policy page; it justifies userpage protection at own discretion and does not encourage non-technical editing of userpages by other users. Many admins do full-protect their userpages, including myself. If you believe we should not do that, please raise this point elsewhere and seek consensus. Regards. Materialscientist (talk) 03:57, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
- Err, you're confused. Your quote ("Administrators may protect their own user pages when appropriate") is from a "project content guideline." It says so in bold in a notice at the top of the page. While I understand that many admins fully protect their user pages (including yourself), I'm asking about this specific user page. I'm asking on the talk page of the protected page and I'm asking the protecting admin for a explanation of the full protection. It's fine if you want to jump in here (helpful talk page stalkers are a great beauty of wikis, I've found), but you come across as telling me off ("raise this point elsewhere and seek consensus") when it isn't your place to do so. --MZMcBride (talk) 04:12, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
- It seems we're over-sensitive to the tone. Mine might appear harsh because your thread started with a clear request. Perhaps if you asked an explanation, you'd get it much faster. Have a nice day. Materialscientist (talk) 04:34, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

- A while back I full-protected my userpage on Commons, after it was nominated for deletion by someone who's image I'd deleted. I'm nearing 100000 deletions there, and so there's likely quite a few people who don't care for me. Once I became an admin here and became active in CSD, (I've done nearly 10000 deletions here so far), I decided to protect my userpage here as a way of preemptively preventing people who may be angry with me on Commons from messing with me here, and to prevent someone here from doing the same in case they get angry about a deletion here. Overall, it just makes me more comfortable here, especially since a good number of the pages I delete are created by autoconfirmed users, here and on Commons. INeverCry 04:43, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
- All right. Thanks for the explanation. We've amassed a lot of indefinite protections here and the extra baggage needs a lot of trimming, in my opinion. It has nasty ripple effects (such as templates and categories needing to be updated, typos corrected, etc.). User pages have some special characteristic to them, I agree, but we'd be foolish to let fear and paranoia get in the way of being a wiki, I think. More and more I've been coming across "view source" and it makes me sad. For another time, I suppose. --MZMcBride (talk) 06:18, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of "Articles for Creation/Claire Elisabeth Fields Cruise"
[edit]16:01, 18 April 2013 INeverCry (talk | contribs) deleted page Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Claire Elisabeth Fields Cruise (G10: Attack page or negative unsourced BLP)
I would like to re-write this "article for creation" to meet all requirements here at Wikipedia. All media reports that verify the subject matter of this article are negative and attacking in nature. With this in mind, how is it possible for me to escape your "G10: Attack page or negative unsourced BLP" label? No non-slanderous sources exist to verify the subject matter.
Thanks--Claire Cruise (talk) 21:13, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
- The biggest problem is that the sources you use aren't WP:RS, which is a crucial thing when dealing with claims being made about higly visible celebrities. Another concern is your username, which may imply a WP:COI issue. INeverCry 23:14, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
So, what you are saying is that the sources available to me are websites and publications that rely too heavily on rumors and personal opinions and that it's an official conflict of interest for me to write about myself. Okay, I won't re-write this "article for creation."

- You have to demonstrate notability using reliable sources. Don't be discouraged – this is a basic filter needed to deal with the mass of daily articles. Even an article by an admin like myself would be deleted if it doesn't clearly show the notability of the subject. INeverCry 23:26, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of page THNK, the Amsterdam School of Creative Leadership
[edit]Hello,
I see you deleted the page THNK, the Amsterdam School of Creative Leadership because it appeared to contain promotional language. This page is similar both in length and language to wikipedia pages for other similar universities and programs such as Singularity University (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singularity_University) and Berlin School of Creative Leadership (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlin_School_of_Creative_Leadership). THNK is a non-profit educational institute similar to the above mentioned schools.
After I noticed it was deleted, I shorted it even more and put it up again. Saw just now that it was deleted a second time. The intention of the page it now to be promotional whatsoever, it's also linked on wikipedia pages such as leadership institutions, etc.
Given that Wikipedia contains accepted pages for very similar universities and programs, I question respectfully why this particular page was chosen for deletion. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ginajetten (talk • contribs) 15:46, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
- If you want to write an article on this subject, and not have it deleted, you'll have to make sure it's neutral, and that you demonstrate WP:N using WP:RS. As for the other articles you mention, one seems to have references, while the other is part of a notable school that has its own article. INeverCry 17:13, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
Thank you! I'll work on this today to ensure its neutral and with resources and upload it. I'll also cross reference 10 or so similar schools. Ginajetten (talk) 08:56, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
Bowery Capital deletion
[edit]Hi,
Just inquiring about the deletion of the Bowery Capital article. I posted it when I saw the news story on Fortune/CNN but now there are stories in the NY Times, All Things Digital, and PandoDaily. Here are the links:
http://finance.fortune.cnn.com/2013/05/02/new-york-city-newest-vc/ http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2013/05/02/new-venture-firm-opens-in-new-york/ http://pandodaily.com/news/aol-ventures-mike-brown-raises-33-million-for-new-fund-bowery-capital/ http://allthingsd.com/20130502/aols-venture-founder-mike-brown-leaves-to-open-his-own-fund/
Please let me know if these additional sources bolster the article's credibility enough and/or if I should change any of the wording of the article itself. Thank you!

- I've userfied the article so that you can add WP:RS to better establish WP:N. Here it is: User:Arvinahmadi/Bowery Capital. INeverCry 18:10, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
- Great, thanks. I've modified the article so that it is better sourced and I also deleted the last sentence since it may have sounded promotional. It if looks alright now, I'll resubmit the article. Thanks again! --Arvinahmadi (talk) 18:44, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
- The article could use more content. I would suggest that you take a look at Wikipedia:Companies, corporations and economic information. You also need to provide a source for that last sentence. INeverCry 18:49, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
- Sure, thanks for the suggestion. I included more content (specific people involved, portfolio companies inherited, fund size, etc) and made sure everything was sourced. Hopefully the article is thorough enough now.--Arvinahmadi (talk) 19:23, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
- I've moved it to Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Bowery Capital, where it will be reviewed (hopefully soon) by another editor. Good luck with it. INeverCry 19:34, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks again for your help!--Arvinahmadi (talk) 20:06, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of Shoppi.ng
[edit]You deleted the Wikipedia entry I made http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoppi.ng. You stated that it is not notable however, in the context of the African internet startup space and eCommerce in general, it is quite notable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ositanwoye (talk • contribs) 10:10, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
- You have to demonstrate WP:N using WP:RS. A company has to be generally notable, not just within a limited context. INeverCry 17:24, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
ten mile creek bridge
[edit]Hi, i notice on my watchlist that you deleted Ten Mile Creek Bridge disambiguation page. I can't see it now but I believe it is indeed a valid topic and dab page. Perhaps you are not aware of some dab page practices, including that it is okay/good to have notable topics covered, even if there is not yet an article about each one. One guideline is MOS:DABRL.
Anyhow, could you please restore that to mainspace ASAP, or provide it (complete with edit history) to my userspace so that i may review this and we can discuss as necessary. Thanks in advance. --doncram 18:06, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
