Templates
You don't have much history under this account, but as long as you are using warning templates (which is unusual for a new editor) you would do well to read this. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Jonathunder (talk) 22:38, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
- Hi there, I just studied up hard on the templates and policies and then decided to dive in headfirst. Hope I'm doing well. Didn't realize your editing history until just now. Thanks. Home Lander (talk) 22:45, 1 February 2017 (UTC)

Hello Home Lander. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know, however, that there is consensus that we shouldn't tag pages as lacking context (CSD A1) and/or content (CSD A3) moments after they are created. It is also suggested that pages that might meet CSD A7 criteria not be tagged for deletion immediately after they are created. It's usually best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Tagging such pages in a very short space of time may drive away well-meaning contributors, which is not good for Wikipedia. Attack pages (G10), blatant nonsense (G1), copyright violations (G12) and pure vandalism/blatant hoaxes (G3) should of course still be tagged and deleted immediately. Thanks. KGirlTrucker81 huh? what I've been doing 20:53, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
- Hi there, the user had created two blanks in a row (the other is now tagged as well), and I figured it had been long enough. Thanks. Home Lander (talk) 20:59, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
Hi Home Lander. We appreciate your enthusiasm but please refrain from tagging articles for now – some maintenance tasks are not suitable for beginners. New Page Review requires significant experience, which you don't have yet. However, if you have already made at least 200 mainspace edits, you can enroll at the Counter Vandalism Academy to learn about keeping pages free of nonsense. Consider doing recent changes patrol for vandalism instead. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page. Hello, I'm XboxGamer22408. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Dylan Van Duyne without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Hi, we appreciate your enthusiasm, but the patrolling of new pages is not for beginners. If you wish to help keep Wikipedia clean of unwanted content, please consider enrolling at the WP:CVUA to learn how to combat basic vandalism. When you have graduated and demonstrated your use of the Rollback tool, you will then be able to apply for New Page Reviewer. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page. Happy editing! Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 22:11, 4 February 2017 (UTC)

- I believe you're probably referring to Darcey Leeney. I'm no longer able to view the content as it has been deleted, but if this the one I'm thinking of, I tagged it fairly early as it was bordering on an attack page (referred to someone as a cyberbully), and I debated tagging it as such. Since I wasn't positive, I ended up choosing A7 as it clearly was not and was never going to be considered notable. It ended up being deleted for the exact rationale I had a gut feeling it was (attack page), so I don't consider it hasty to tag such an article early for that reason, per se. Home Lander (talk) 00:54, 5 February 2017 (UTC)

- In my opinion, tagging the Darcey Leeney article was fine, especially as it had been deleted previously. However, the content was different second time around and you should have used the G10 tag instead. Maybe the choice of criteria is an area for you to work on. Deb (talk) 09:20, 5 February 2017 (UTC)

I am here on behalf on the editor who was blocked. He was not trying to be mean. He was trying to help. I hope you can find it in your heart to let him have another chance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 147.174.132.228 (talk) 17:09, 6 February 2017 (UTC)
- Well, I can't even block users, and I don't even know which editor you're referring to. Speak with the admin who blocked whoever it is, but if the blocked user is in fact one that I've had contact with lately, good luck with your above argument. Home Lander (talk) 18:14, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

Rollbacker and reviewer
Hello Home Lander. Your account has been granted the "rollbacker" and "pending changes reviewer" user rights. These user rights allow you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes and quickly revert the edits of other users.
- Please keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin).
- The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection enabled is located at Special:StablePages. You may find the following pages useful to review:
- Wikipedia:Reviewing pending changes, the guideline on reviewing.
- Wikipedia:Pending changes, the summary of the use of pending changes.
- Wikipedia:Protection policy#Pending changes protection, the policy determining which pages can be given pending changes protection by administrators.
Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of reviewer or rollback. If you no longer want either of these user rights, contact me and I'll remove it, alternatively you can leave a request on the administrators' noticeboard. Happy editing! Mikeoc86 (talk) 19:23, 15 February 2017 (UTC) what was vandalism? I added some photos to the page. There was no vandalism there.
- Earlier in the sequence it appeared to me that you were removing content from the page, but upon reviewing it, it looks as though you are editing in good faith so I have reverted my own edits. Note that your filename for the new photo you uploaded is also reflective of your username rather than what the file depicts. Home Lander (talk) 19:33, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
Accidental Revert
Is it somewhat ironical that you reverted my contribution despite me being a resident of the said location? I believe that am more informed of the details in the aforementioned area, just a polite suggestion, no harm intended. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SethMakaiWamboi (talk • contribs) 17:31, 17 February 2017 (UTC)
- Well, that doesn't exactly make much of a difference. The edit I reverted was WP:UNSOURCED, and taking a look at some of your other edits here, it looks like virtually all of them are as well. Having personal knowledge of what you are writing about doesn't make it acceptable to just introduce it to a page, and it in fact can lean toward WP:COI. You might want to take a look at these pages I've linked regarding contributing here before you continue. Home Lander (talk) 20:27, 17 February 2017 (UTC)..
What then might I do to make it valid SethMakaiWamboi (talk) 20:35, 17 February 2017 (UTC)User:SethMakaiWamboi
- You'll need to start citing sources of information. Have a good look through pages such as WP:HOW and WP:CITE to learn more. Also, when you're writing on a talk page or user talk page like this one, you can easily sign your posts by entering ~~~~ at the end. If you don't, a bot will likely find and sign your comments for you (like it did above). Home Lander (talk) 20:37, 17 February 2017 (UTC)
- Also, if you'd like, you can add the template shown on this page to your user page and an administrator or very experienced user can "adopt" you to help you learn the ropes here. I personally act mostly in the role of a janitor here, and therefore do not generally contribute much actual written content compared to most. Home Lander (talk) 20:49, 17 February 2017 (UTC)
Why can't you adopt me then? SethMakaiWamboi (talk) 20:51, 17 February 2017 (UTC)
- Well, like I wrote above, I'm probably not the one most fit for the job there. If you'd like, you can just open this page, scroll all the way down to the bottom and click the "Request an adopter" button there. Then just follow the prompts in the text and click "save changes" at the bottom to post your request. Home Lander (talk) 20:55, 17 February 2017 (UTC)

Exactly what's wrong with it? It's a proper hatnote. It leads to the dab page, and "THE" Henry Ford is literally Henry Ford, (like "THE" Elvis Presley, etc. with "The" emphasizing the primary person) -- 65.94.168.229 (talk) 05:19, 18 February 2017 (UTC)

Hello,
Thanks for the message on the Pueblo, CO page-- I was playing with it and am not a pro at editing, but did want support/ citations. What I did is used a link to a lower section of the page, which has several sourced references. Hope that satisfies you and good working with you! 174.24.57.189 (talk) 04:35, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
- Well, as a previous editor noted, your addition there is a bit vaguely worded, and considering that the article already contains the green-related information elsewhere I'm feeling it would probably be better without it. Also, I'm seeing that your IP address does come back to Colorado Springs, so if you are connected in some way to what you are editing, you might want to take a look at WP:COI. Another editor has since reverted your addition again, so it's probably better left as it is now. Home Lander (talk) 04:47, 21 February 2017 (UTC)

Re: gaslighting
Please see the edit summaries I included for the edits:
>WP:COATRACK; random examples of recent usage don't clarify anything and are transparently an excuse to criticize specific individuals for engaging in "gaslighting". This is also potentially WP:BLP since it's subjective.
>"Balance" is not the issue. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
Also see my talk page edit.
BLP is taken very seriously on Wikipedia, to my understanding. An example of someone calling someone else out for "gaslighting", "in the media" is a very serious charge, and there is no way to add "balance" to such a section by including examples of other people with different ideologies also being called out. The section could be justified if, say, someone were commenting more generally on the phenomenon.

Notice
I noticed that you reverted the page 9800. May I ask why? I already created a disambiguation page for that number, so that when people would see that year when they enter it in the search engine, you could click on the link 9800_(disambiguation), just like with 200 for example, there is an article on that number and they also have a 200_(disambiguation) as well. My obsession with that century is that it is not listed like other centuries such as the 16th Century, 17th Century, and many others. I am trying to help get all the centuries on here, but today, I just happen to work on that century.
But I had also asked howcome you reverted the page 9800 even though I had already created a disambiguation page of that number so that there would be an article on that year, just like how there is with 200. That number has both an article and a disambiguation, so what's wrong with 9800 being the same way?98th Century (talk) 00:29, 12 March 2017 (UTC)— Preceding unsigned comment added by 98th Century (talk • contribs) 00:23, 12 March 2017 (UTC)

68.234.100.60 (talk) 23:39, 28 April 2017 (UTC) I hope you're as good at being edited and reverted as you are at doing it to others. Do you cite sources for your edits reverting the work of others? I'm pretty sure you can't cite Wikipedia to edit Wikipedia, yet its done all the time by "referencing" policies supposedly prohibiting actions that are not defined or explicitly detailed. The first reversionist claimed "own research". But when I put my content back up and mentioned that I didn't do any research, all of a sudden you show up. Are you a sockpuppet or is this a case of editors ganging up on someone? I'll be trying to find out. I'm sick of what could be a decent resource with a hell of a lot more worthwhile content being ruined by jackasses that think they own it and who write articles about subjects they know nothing about until they do their OWN RESEARCH and start posting the knowledge of others and and think its legitimate because they use citations and references. Cheating off someone else but giving them "credit" is still plagiarism by proxy.68.234.100.60 (talk) 23:39, 28 April 2017 (UTC)

Can you please explain how the entry I added regarding Jeff Bezos not making personal donations to help address homelessness in Seattle was inappropriate? If you have other information, please do share. I also cited a well known article questioning Amazon's temporary methods of contributing: https://www.inc.com/minda-zetlin/why-amazons-new-temporary-homeless-shelter-in-seattle-is-a-no-brainer.html
Would appreciate a response...

North Slavs
I have redirected it because that is how it has always been. There is no such thing as North Slavs or North Slavic dialects. The user that created that page, attempts to group the West Slavs and East Slavs as one, which makes zero historical or physical sense. Bulgarian Archer (talk) 19:48, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
- Bulgarian Archer, you need to gain WP:CONSENSUS before making such bold changes to an article. Clearly, you don't have it yet, and you're now pushing into WP:EW. Home Lander (talk) 19:49, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

Hey! I've seen you around often when reverting edits and doing random bits and bobs around Wikipedia and I found your talk page header to be quite a convenient and neat way of letting people know how to approach you (I'm talking about the note to "NEW USERS AND IP EDITORS"). Would you mind if I copied the same? I didn't want to do so without your permission. Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 20:55, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
- Jiten Dhandha, have at it. I haphazardly created it starting from a template with some other message. I suppose if others deem it useful it could be added to Category:User talk header templates (can't get this page to link) or similar. Home Lander (talk) 21:01, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
- The template category could certainly use something similar, if not the same one. Not entirely sure of how templates are created (or if permission is required through a particular process). I can look into creating one when I get some free time, if need be. For now though, I'll just modify it a bit, perhaps add a word or two, and add it to my talk page. Cheers for the permission! :) Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 21:11, 13 May 2017 (UTC)

I wasn't familiar with it. Did you use it because the article on sulforophane simply is obviously in the style of a journal and not of Wikipedia? I have sometimes encountered similar pages and wondered what to do. Robert McClenon (talk) 00:33, 15 May 2017 (UTC)

Chau Chak Wing Can you please explain why the edits to the Chau Chak Wing page have been reversed? The people who are inserting reference to articles that are the subject of legal proceedings are clearly connected with the people who are defending these legal proceedings. It is completely unjust that you would allow this material to be displayed when it has been rebutted in a media article in The Australian newspaper on 9 June 2017 by the subject of the biography and remains under litigation.

I was about to tag it for A3, as you did, and then I looked at the edit summary, which says that it will take a few days. - The beat goes on. There is a new version in article space that I had to tag for speedy deletion. Robert McClenon (talk) 22:51, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
- Robert McClenon, I sometimes wonder about how many new/unregistered users do not realize their user talk page actually exists, and therefore never see messages left for them. Home Lander (talk) 22:54, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
- Yes. However, there is no talk page message reporting that a page was moved. Twinkle leaves messages when a page is tagged for deletion, and for a variety of other things, although it occasionally gets confused. (I sometimes get messages that a draft has been tagged for deletion when I didn't create the draft, just moved it.) Many new users do not understand the details of how Wikipedia works. It is even more true that many unregistered editors don't understand, but, first, they can't create articles, and, second, I don't really care if they get notified, because I am in a minority and think that unregistered editors should have fewer privileges than they do. Robert McClenon (talk) 23:01, 17 June 2017 (UTC)

Robert McClenon, I have also noticed a Twinkle message or two that wasn't meant for me, and it was for a page I had moved, like you described. In the case of this editor, the page was just created yet again, so I have tagged it and sent them a message to hopefully clear it up. We'll see what they do now... Home Lander (talk) 23:07, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
- The other problem is that some new editors don't know about user space and draft space, and so think that they can create articles piecemeal in article space, first by creating a placeholder, and then by adding to it a little at a time. It isn't easy to decide what to do with their placeholders. If the placeholder is very short, it can be tagged as WP:A1 or maybe even WP:A3, but sometimes there is either one sentence, or an infobox, or a malformed infobox, and in those cases there may be enough context that A1 does not apply. (Of course, a properly formed infobox implies a little knowledge of Wikipedia, and I have even less sympathy then with creating a placeholder in article space. If you know enough to create an infobox, I think you know enough to use draft or user space.) (I think that there should be a speedy deletion criterion A13 for infobox-only, but I haven't persuaded other editors.) Sometimes when there is a placeholder, A7 may apply, depending on what it is about, but sometimes it has to be PROD'd instead. Oh well. Robert McClenon (talk) 23:12, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
- The most recent stub had to be A1'd. Robert McClenon (talk) 23:12, 17 June 2017 (UTC)

not sure how to leave a note. Sorry if this is the wrong way to do it. The information regarding heat lightning is incorrect. Heat lightning is not an actual weather phenomenon. Heat alone is not the cause of lightning. Lightning needs a thunderstorm to exist. Lightning can travel up to 100 miles within the anvil of a culonimbus. Lightning that people see without the presence of a culonimbus is not heat lightning, but actually lightning from a thunderstorm that is too far away for them to see. I tried editing the article but it would not allow me to save the changes. - If the content in the article is incorrect, then cite reliable sources when adding or changing the content. See WP:CITE. However, just removing the existing references is considered disruptive, hence why you were reverted. Home Lander (talk) 02:51, 20 June 2017 (UTC)

Instead, you may wish to request edits via the article's talk page. Also, be aware that Wikipedia is not for advertising or promotion. The article about the village needs to be written neutrally. I'm still unclear on how being a resident presents a conflict of interest. These are not my own personal views but rather a compilation of facts found on the village website, among others and sited/linked. If I added too many links to make it appear like an advertisement, I can remove those because that wasn't the intent. The edits were only intended to bring the facts of what Lincolnwood has to offer, it school district, parks program, library, police department, village and political history to light. There is too much non-relevant, negative information on the page as it stands now. No one who was truly interested in learning about Lincolnwood would gather much from the page. The current mayor is not correctly listed, etc. The edits were not intended to be a promotion of Lincolnwood per se, but to enhance wikipedia by simply displaying the facts. I've read the conflict information you sent but still can't figure out specifically what was wrong with it. History[edit] Potawatomi Native Americans originally settled the wooded area now known as Lincolnwood, but then vacated the land after the Indian Boundary Treaty of 1816. Johann Tess, for whom the village was originally named, and his family came from Germany in 1856. Population slowly increased and the first commercial establishment, the Halfway House Saloon, was established in 1873. The farming population grew after the establishment of a Chicago & North Western Railway station in nearby Skokie in 1891 and the completion of the North Shore Channel in 1909, which made the easily flooded prairie land manageable. More saloons and taverns soon appeared, specifically along Crawford and Lincoln Avenues. Because only organized municipalities could grant liquor licenses, 359 residents incorporated in 1911 and named the Village Tessville. During Prohibition, Tessville became a haven for speakeasies and gambling facilities. Tessville was long reputed for drinking and gambling until the 1931 election of its longest-serving mayor, Henry A. Proesel, a grandson of George Proesel, one of the original American settlers. Proesel worked with the federal government to hire the community’s entire unemployed workforce to plant trees on the Village streets. Proesel finally changed Tessville’s image when he changed the name of the Village to Lincolnwood in 1936. Lincolnwood was able to keep taxes attractively low by fostering the growth of light industry and by attracting such giants as Bell & Howell. The opening in 1951 of the Edens Expressway had the most profound impact on the growth in the Village’s history. It offered easy and fast access to and from Chicago, causing the community’s population to grow from 3,072 in 1950 to more than 12,000 in 1970. Demographics[edit] Historical population Census Pop. %± 1910 359 — 1920 355 −1.1% 1930 473 33.2% 1940 752 59.0% 1950 3,072 308.5% 1960 11,744 282.3% 1970 12,929 10.1% 1980 11,921 −7.8% 1990 11,365 −4.7% 2000 12,359 8.7% 2010 12,590 1.9% Est. 2016 12,527 [1] −0.5% U.S. Decennial Census[5]
Today Lincolnwood is home to a diverse mixture of Americans. 37.5% of residents are foreign born. Approximately 55% of residents age 5 and older use a foreign language for communication at home. Significant European ethnic groups within the Village include Greek, German, Polish, and Russian. Asian ethnicities comprise a full 26.6% of the population and include significant numbers of Asian Indian, Korean, Filipino and Chinese. While Lincolnwood’s Hispanic population is small at only 6.8%, major Hispanic groups include Mexican, Cuban and Puerto Rican. More than half of all employed residents are in educational, professional, finance or other related occupations. Sales and office occupations as well as service occupations are other professions concentrated among residents. Women constitute 45.6% of Lincolnwood’s labor force. The typical resident’s commute to work is by car. Lincolnwood residents are highly educated. Of residents 25 or older, 71% have either a college degree or some college. All of Lincolnwood is served by Elementary School District #74, which has a one-campus setting offering a variety of educational programs, as well as a full day kindergarten. High school students attend highly acclaimed Niles West High School in neighboring Skokie, part of School District #219. Government[edit] Lincolnwood was established in 1911 and has a village form of government with a president and six trustees elected at-large. A village manager professionally oversees day-to-day municipal operations.[6] The Lincolnwood Economic Development Commission has been established to ensure the continued enhancement of the local economy and improved tax base.[7] Currently the Village is served by a Board of Trustees with a President and Village Clerk. The President, Clerk, and six-member Board of Trustees are elected at large for four-year terms. Lincolnwood’s current mayor is Barry Bass, elected in April of 2017 after serving as trustee since 2015. Barry was elected to the position of President in 2017 and Trustee in 2015. Previously, he was a member of the Lincolnwood Park and Recreation Board and was appointed on July 14, 2005. He grew up in Lincolnwood and has been a resident for almost 40 years, attending Rutledge Hall, Lincoln Hall and Niles West class of 76′. He is married, the father of three and grandfather of four. Barry has been a real estate broker since 1984, specializing in brokerage and acquisitions, and is the president of a national payment processing company for some of the most recognized business and non-profit organizations in the U.S. Public Safety[edit] Lincolnwood's Police Department has a state-of-the-art police station staffed by 34 trained personnel. The Lincolnwood Fire Department is housed in a state-of-the-art facility operated by 28 full-time professionals. The Lincolnwood Fire Department was established through private contract in 1990. (Previously, Village fire protection was provided through the City of Chicago.) Public Library[edit] The newly renovated Lincolnwood Public Library, established in 1978, is located in the center of the Village at Pratt and Lincoln Avenues. It houses more than 58,000 books, periodicals, audiotapes, compact discs, and DVDs. The Lincolnwood Library is a member of the North Suburban Library System, which enables residents access to library collections held at other libraries in the state. The library holds children’s story hours, book reviews and English as a second Language classes. Madeline Grant was the main driving force behind founding the library, and served as the first library president and later village president.[8] Education[edit] Lincolnwood is served by elementary School District 74, which has a one-campus setting with three main facilities named after the Lincoln family. Todd Hall serves as the education facility for preschoolers to early grade school students, Rutledge Hall serves elementary school students, and Lincoln Hall serves primarily junior high students. High school students attend Niles West High School in neighboring Skokie, part of District 219. Lincolnwood is part of the Oakton Community College District, which has a campus minutes away in Skokie. Northwestern University in Evanston, Loyola University in Chicago, and Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago are all within 10 miles (16 km) of the Village. Recreation[edit] Parks: Lincolnwood's 13-park system includes playgrounds, shade structures, an outdoor pool complex, trail and path systems, baseball/softball diamonds, basketball courts, tennis courts, soccer field, picnic facilities, outdoor fitness equipment, in-line skating rink, volleyball courts, outdoor amphitheater, a fishing platform, a nine-hole disc golf course, and a community center. The Parks and Recreation Department offers and operates a multitude of recreation programs available to both residents and non-residents. Bike/Pedestrian Paths: Lincolnwood has regional bike paths with connection points for the North Shore Channel Trail, Sauganash Trail Park, Skokie Valley Trail, Union Pacific Bicycle Path, and Valley Line Trail. A new bike/pedestrian bridge over Touhy Avenue is part of the new Village of Lincolnwood Bikeway Plan. Aquatic Center: Lincolnwood is home to the Proesel Park Family Aquatic Center. The Center is a membership only facility. Village residents and guests of members and residents may pay a walk-in daily fee to enjoy the facility. The village hires over 130 local teens and adults to operate the facility each summer (mid-May through early-September Summer Camp: Lincolnwood Summer Day Camp is an American Camp Association (ACA) Accredited program that provides a safe, engaging, affordable, and accommodating environment for children ages 3-15. After-School Program: Lincolnwood’s Club Kid is the Village’s after school program for K-5th grade offered by the Lincolnwood Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with School District 74. Tax Rates[edit] The Village’s municipal property tax rate ranks fifth in comparison to other area municipalities, even though this comparison does not factor that many communities, unlike Lincolnwood, have separate park districts that tax separately and levy an additional property tax. When combining municipal and respective park district tax rates only a portion of Niles has a lower combined property tax rate than Lincolnwood. More than 75% of the property tax bill in Lincolnwood is generated by school districts, with Village government representing less than 10% of the property tax bill. Housing[edit] Housing in Lincolnwood is attractive and highly valued. It is characterized by single family owner-occupied detached homes built prior to the 1960’s. The median housing value in 2010 was $477,000. Housing satisfaction and the quality of life in Lincolnwood is further evidenced by the fact that more than 60% of Lincolnwood households have lived in their Lincolnwood home for more than 20 years. Transportation[edit] The Village is currently served by three Pace bus routes that link Lincolnwood to the Chicago area. See Lincolnwood's Public Transit options here. Notable People[edit] • Merrick Garland, nominated to be Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court, current Federal appeals judge • George Kontos, pitcher for the San Francisco Giants; born in Lincolnwood • Gary Kremen, the engineer and entrepreneur who invented online dating and founded the personals site Match.com; born in Lincolnwood • Jim Irsay, owner of the Indianapolis Colts; born in Lincolnwood • Jewell Loyd, a professional basketball player currently playing for the Seattle Storm. A message from Alan Wiki
Hi there, I edited a part and added an external link on the wiki page "Sex_Machine" and it was removed because it seemed inappropriate, I have seen many external links on Wikipedia pointing to sexual content and nudity when deemed appropriate, I strongly feel like the external link I provided is appropriate for this specific article and really helps describe the content being talked to the reader. I really hope you will change your mind and please add the external link back.
Thank you, Alan_Wiki

- (talk page watcher) @Alan Wiki: Wikipedia does not link to external images regardless of why. Restoring the link will not happen. - FlightTime (open channel) 18:45, 24 June 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks FlightTime but I believe (I do not wish to open the link to check!) that this link (diff) is actually pointing to a porn video. Alan Wiki, I reverted your edit because the content already had a reliable source and, judging by the URL, I don't believe that this site would also be reliable. I don't believe it's necessary to include a link to a video, particularly one of this nature, in order to make this point. Home Lander (talk) 20:00, 24 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi Home Lander, you have reverted my edit in Télévision Algérienne, but my edit is not a vandalisme because Télévision Algérienne is the name of a network, It can not be an extension of Television in Algeria.--Boumediene15 (talk) 22:44, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
Stephen Kerr
Hi Home Lander.
I'm editing the page about Stephen Kerr by providing reliable, factual information that is in the best interests of the Wikipedia readership. While I am trying to add citations for the edits I keep having them removed very quickly. Can you give good reasons as to why this is happening please? It is becoming a little frustrating. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Theweedafty (talk • contribs) 00:11, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- Theweedafty, edits like this are removing content already on the page, and the others you've been making have not had any references at all. If you want to add the content, you'll need to provide reliable citations for it. Home Lander (talk) 00:17, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- I've been trying to add citations. Give me a chance. What am I doing wrong? How are you the guardian of Stephen Kerr's Wikipedia entry? Do you know him personally? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Theweedafty (talk • contribs) 00:21, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- @Theweedafty: I've looked this up and can't find any information to substantiate a claim that Kerr had been accepted as a member of the Privy Council which would entitle him the use "The Right Honourable" prefix. Hope this clears things up —72 talk 00:22, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- Theweedafty, you have not added citations. You've removed existing article content and added new content without citing it. See WP:CITE. Also, at this point, I think you need to view WP:AGF and WP:OWN. Home Lander (talk) 00:24, 30 June 2017 (UTC)

The term 'Right Honourable' is an honourific tradition afforded to members of the Commons as well as the Privy Council. I do believe you are splitting very thin hairs. Why have my other additions on his voting decisions and media attention been removed?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Theweedafty (talk • contribs) 00:29, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- Respectfully, it is not. I've studied politics myself and it is an honourific only used by members of the Privy council, and some other noblemen. Kerr is neither. See the page Right Honourable#United Kingdom. —72 talk 00:31, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- Your other additions were removed because they had no source, and had replaced existing content that was sourced. Home Lander (talk) 00:37, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- With respect, I have a degree in British Politics and now teach it. This seems like a strange bizarre witch hunt and a way to try and control the information selected for an open-source, participatory web information platform. What is your relationship to Stephen Kerr?
- I have tried on several occasions to attach my valid citations for the information I have provided from Hansard and The Guardian. Each time I make this attempt, one of you deletes it and refers to the minor edit I have made regarding the title 'The Right Honourable', which is a term in usage at the Commons to this day.
- I have been screen-shotting this strange deletion of true information regarding Stephen Kerr and will report this to other editors. You have not satisfactorily answered my main queries, but keep diverting. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Theweedafty (talk • contribs) 00:40, 30 June 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer granted
Hello Home Lander. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.
- URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
- Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
- Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
- Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Alex ShihTalk 08:56, 11 July 2017 (UTC)

I’m working to update information that is inaccurate and outdated on the Arlington, Texas Wikipedia page. I’ve created an account, but my edits keep getting rejected by ClueBot NG. The City Council members listed for our City are incorrect.
My name is Ryan Hunt and I'm the Social Media Manager for the City of Arlington and we’ve received complaints that this information is outdated. Please resolve this issue and allow me to make the necessary edits to the page. My username is Fands578. We would like this updated as soon as possible.
council members info http://www.arlington-tx.gov/citycouncil/ Flag needs to be removed as it is the old Arlington logo discontinued more than three years ago. There is no difference between the flag and the logo.
Thanks so much, Ryan Hunt

New Page Reviewer Newsletter
Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 18,511 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.
- Some editors are committing to work specifically on patrolling new pages on 15 July. If you have not reviewed new pages in a while, this might be a good time to be involved. Please remember that quality of patrolling is more important than quantity, that the speedy deletion criteria should be followed strictly, and that ovetagging for minor issues should be avoided.
Technology update:
- Several requests have been put into Phabractor to increase usability of the New Pages Feed and the Page Curation toolbar. For more details or to suggest improvements go to Wikipedia:Page Curation/Suggested improvements
- The tutorial has been updated to include links to the following useful userscripts. If you were not aware of them, they could be useful in your efforts reviewing new pages:
- User:Lourdes/PageCuration.js adds a link to the new pages feed and page curation toolbar to your top toolbar on Wikipedia
- User:The Earwig/copyvios.js adds a link in your side toolbox that will run the current page through
General project update:
- Following discussion at Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers, Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Noticeboard has been marked as historical. Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers is currently the most active central discussion forum for the New Page Patrol project. To keep up to date on the most recent discussions you can add it to your watchlist or visit it periodically.

Hello, Home Lander. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, and move subpages when moving the parent page(s).
Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect

hey Home Lander, thank you for your feedback however the reason I added the information that I did is because I work for a large animal vet office and a client used the term supernumerary and my colleague and I were confused, so we googled it and google definition just confused us even more. We had a Dr. Vet as well as a vet tech fill us in. Then it made sense. I have re-entered my information. I hope it is to your liking and if not please let me know or take the info and enter it yourself how you would like it to be entered. Either way I feel it is important information for the agricultural world. Thank you. Sofia70.52.191.244 (talk) 20:25, 10 August 2017 (UTC)

IP block report?
Hi Home Lander,
I recently had an encounter with this IP myself. I know it's a shared, gov't IP, but time for a block report maybe? X4n6 (talk) 10:54, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
- Hello X4n6. I see your warning and conversation left above mine on their talk page. Since it's been several days since then, I've reverted their latest (again, unsourced) edit to Magenta and left them a level 3 warning. If they continue soon, then I think we can go level four and/or request a sysop to block. Thanks for messaging me. Home Lander (talk) 14:26, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Home Lander and X4n6: Hi, if necessary they can be reported to admins at this noticeboard. Happy editing. Kind regards ChocolateRabbit 17:20, 11 August 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Electric Boat Association
Point taken: the material was rather hastily obtained from the Association's own webpage and on reflection does not conform to wiki-rules and standards: I have requested a total rewrite of the page by a respected historian of all things electric and the author of a forthcoming book on the subject of electric boats and ships. (who is not a wikipedian) Is it OK if I replace the offending text with his? Obviously like any new page, this is just a starting point and no doubt the page will benefit from, and improve with, multiple edits and contributions, as per usual. Excalibur (talk) 16:25, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
- Well the page shouldn't be started from the association's page - it should be written from scratch - and also if the writer has a Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, then it should probably be drafted and submitted instead. Home Lander (talk) 18:07, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
In reponse to your request for page protection, I put the above article under full protection - none of the dissenting parties have so far contributed to the talk page discussion, where a previous consensus between Phoebe, Jose2495 and RightCowLeftCoast and a number of IP editors seems to indicate preference for the term "illegal alien". It is widely held that a change of previous consensus requires a new discussion, so this is a courtesy invitation to discuss. Regards, Samsara 12:39, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
- I actually had very little involvement other than observing new IP changes without explanation and initially reverting. Thanks for protecting the page. Home Lander (talk) 18:13, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
Hi Home Lander, Thank you for reverting User:Snowsleeping's edit. Well, TheNewSMG, I don't have any familiarity with the case. If you can provide diffs/evidence that two accounts are the same, then you can reopen the case and supply that information. You can use Twinkle to reopen the case easily and it shouldn't muck up the existing case that's already closed. Home Lander (talk) 18:55, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

Wallboy101 (talk) 20:08, 13 August 2017 (UTC)Hey Home Lander, could you check my article about adult film actress Abella Anderson that I've just created? It gives me a warning at the top that I haven't added any reliable sources since it is a BLP. I believe I've added two reliable sources. Thank you!Wallboy101 (talk) 20:12, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

Twinkle CSD tags
Hi,
We were discussing this yesterday on my talk page, but I noticed you added a generic A7 tag with Twinkle. How did you do this? The only A7 options I have in Twinkle are the specific ones. Adam9007 (talk) 17:32, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
- Adam9007, in the Twinkle CSD screen, tick the box "Tag with multiple criteria" and the A7 will switch to a generic tag. You don't actually have to select multiple to get it to process. Home Lander (talk) 18:32, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, I wondered if that's what you were doing. But it beats me why anyone would want to use the generic tag over a specific one. It's one of the reasons I use Twinkle rather than page curation. Adam9007 (talk) 18:36, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
- Adam9007, the rough Arabic translation that Google returned on the above article made it seem like some of it was about a person, but then it said something about "the company", or similar. So I tagged it generically. Sometimes I also use the generic one for Youtubers, where it's not exactly clear whether the article is about a person or their channel. Of course, if you are tagging multiple criteria, then you have no choice but to use the generic one. Home Lander (talk) 18:40, 14 August 2017 (UTC)

As for the usernames, I think the computer only recognize usernames as too similar to existing usernames if it differs from an existing username only by capitalization or spacing. When I typed "Cold and Spicy" and "ColdandSpicy" into the username box, it said my username was too similar to "Coldandspicy," but when I typed "Coldandspicy2" into the box, no message popped up. The use of the term "undocumented" is a WP:EUPHEMISIM that gives the article a certain political slant. No one in the talk page has given any non political reason for using the term in place of the more accurate term "illegal", other then that it is a common phrase. Being common, does not override Wikipedia's rule of not using euphemisms.

your info regarding Havertown is essentially the same info as haverford township. not sure you know, but havertown and haverford township are not the same thing, for instance you write: "Havertown’s rich history began with Haverford Township's founding by Welsh Quakers in 1681" which is not the case, havertown did not come into existence until the 20th century, plus you list john leclair as a notable resident, he lives in bryn mawr, not havertown. you also list the haverford state hospital grounds, which are in haverford, not havertown
maybe best to trim this article, as there are a lot of errors

108.48.190.216 (talk) 00:57, 30 August 2017 (UTC) Hello Lander, I was the one who made the small edit to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politics_in_the_United_States From the section below I deleted the last sentence stating: "However, it should be noted that human rights law neither recognizes a right to firearms nor a human right to self-defense, but requires states instead to reasonably regulate and restrict the possession and use of firearms to protect the right to life.[121]" because it doesn't belong in that section. There is no such thing as "human rights law" in the US. There are international laws and treaties that distinguish human rights as well as the UN Charter but this particular point seems out of place especially when considering the page is about US Gun Politics. I'm not saying there isn't a place for discussion of human rights but the even the source used essentially a book arguing that there is no guarantee to self defense in "human rights laws", I'm sure that's been debated before and in the US every state has some type of self defense law. Not to mention I got a rude response from User: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Drmies If you would please note the very opinionated personal stances he has on gun control. I would argue that an editor with less personal stake should be in charge of that page. I'm not vandalizing anything. That second sentence was put there to refute the first which talks about a recent Supreme Court ruling. I think that second sentence should go in another section. Please note I am a monthly donor to Wikipedia and not some gun rights asshole.
feehan@hotmail.com
The view that gun ownership is a fundamental right was affirmed by the U.S. Supreme Court in District of Columbia v. Heller (2008). The Court stated: "By the time of the founding, the right to have arms had become fundamental for English subjects."[120] The Court observed that the English Bill of Rights of 1689 had listed a right to arms as one of the fundamental rights of Englishmen. However, it should be noted that human rights law neither recognizes a right to firearms nor a human right to self-defense, but requires states instead to reasonably regulate and restrict the possession and use of firearms to protect the right to life.[121]
- You removed an existing reference with no explanation. That is disruptive. Being a donor to Wikipedia does not change policy concerning edits. Home Lander (talk) 01:05, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
- Ok I put my explanation here in this talk, is that good enough? Can someone review my suggestion? And being a donor means I'm not a vandal. It means I value this source of information. Removing speedy delete tag
Hello sweet, you have placed a tag in a article that has been created via AFC. The article has been approved by a experienced editor from AFC team. Hence there is no need of placing a speedy tag, also there is no significant evidence that the article has been created by banned user also If the article was an advertisement the editor of AFC community would have strongly recommended it to deletion and would have not deleted it. Therefore iam of a opinion that the article is not advert since it no positive points. Take care buddy Firstmistake (talk)Firstmistake —Preceding undated comment added 02:50, 30 August 2017 (UTC)

A message from KatAtBarnwellCountyMuseum
Why do you keep removing the official FB page from the Barnwell County Museum? Other museums on that page have FB links. The only reason I have the website listed as unofficial is because some old person stared that page a long time ago and refuse to remove it or clarify that the Barnwell County Museum is in no way affiliated with it. I am a member of the Barnwell County Museum board, appointed by the Barnwell County Council. The Barnwell County Museum is an official office of the County of Barnwell. We have to use the FB page in lieu of a website. What exactly is your problem?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_museums_in_South_Carolina
KatAtBarnwellCountyMuseum (talk) 22:17, 4 September 2017 (UTC)
- First of all, you need to start assuming good faith and back off the tone. The page is unofficial, so it does not meet WP:FACEBOOK and should not be included. Home Lander (talk) 22:29, 4 September 2017 (UTC)
- This is extremely frustrating for me. The second I make a CORRECT change to my organization's page, someone comes behind and changes it. What do I have to do? When I changed it back, why couldn't you just ask or look up the FB page? It's obvious that it's official. I don't mess with Wikipedia and wish I didn't have to. I just want the FB link on the List of SC Museums and I was trying to not offend the old man that created the unofficial page.
- Your edit is not "correct." You openly admitted in the article that it was an unofficial Facebook page. Therefore, per WP:FACEBOOK, it should not be included. Home Lander (talk) 22:43, 4 September 2017 (UTC)
- The Facebook Page IS OFFICIAL. The Website (bcvm.org) that the old guy created is NOT official. The Wiki page: List of SC Museums has bcvm.org listed as the website. BCVM stands for Barnwell County Virtual Museum.
- Thank you for clarifying. I have removed the unofficial site and replaced it with the official link from Facebook. Home Lander (talk) 22:49, 4 September 2017 (UTC)
Thank you! I was trying to not offend the person that created the website. Also, it wouldn't surprise me if he edited the link on Wiki himself. I don't want to have to keep doing this over and over.
- You're welcome. When you're making changes like this, such as adding links, it's best to include reasoning in the edit summaries instead of just leaving the default "Undid revision by..." summary, since many Facebook links are removed as inappropriate. You'll then be less likely to get reverted again. Home Lander (talk) 22:55, 4 September 2017 (UTC)

Koeksister
Koeksiters are not just South African but associated with a particular cultural group (Afrikaner) This group is not unique to South Africa but has significant representation in Namibia too, so referring to it as South African is wrong
Comparing Koeksisters and Koe'sisters is noted, but they are completely different and so the Cape Malay version will need its own page and reference to it on the Koeksister page is not helpful in developing understanding unless its to clear up the confusion in the similarly Sounding name

Hi. It is lucidly known that Charles Blow is a mouthpiece, at the NYT, of the American Left-wing. His ideology and values are perfectly aligned with those of the Leftist movement, so I don't understand why that edit was wrong when it was directly pointing to truth. Or is it because it 'hurt' someone's feelings? That shouldn't matter, wouldn't you agree?

New Page Reviewer Newsletter
Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 14304 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a day.
- Currently there are 532 pages in the backlog that were created by non-autoconfirmed users before WP:ACTRIAL. The NPP project is undertaking a drive to clear these pages from the backlog before they hit the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing a few today!
Technology update:
- The Wikimedia Foundation is currently working on creating a new filter for page curation that will allow new page patrollers to filter by extended confirmed status. For more information see: T175225
General project update:
- On 14 September 2017 the English Wikipedia began the autoconfirmed article creation trial. For a six month period, creation of articles in the mainspace of the English Wikipedia will be restricted to users with autoconfirmed status. New users who attempt article creation will now be redirected to a newly designed landing page.
- Before clicking on a reference or external link while reviewing a page, please be careful that the site looks trustworthy. If you have a question about the safety of clicking on a link, it is better not to click on it.
- To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.
If you wish to opt-out of future mailings, go here. TonyBallioni (talk) 02:16, 19 September 2017 (UTC)
My page
There is no reason to delete my page. It just lists politicians I support, all populist leaders with widespread popular support in their respective countries. I doubt if I had a page expressing support from more liberal-style political figures like Aung San Suu Kyi, the Dalai Lama, Angela Merkel, etc. anyone would be objecting. I am just stating my views as full disclosure, since, like all editors I have my personal biases. However, I intend to follow the sites neutrality guidelines, as anyone else. Thank you. I, CiboloBuffalo, was IP 165.227.89.55, and failed to log into Wikipedia before editing the Cibolo, TX wiki. I saved my edits before citing as I received a phone call and didn't want the amount of edit to go away into the ether as I typed a lot. If you revert my edits, I will go back and start citing. Thanks! C.B. CiboloBuffalo
