Inmitation

- @Nahnah4: Whoops I'm so sorry However I have run out of ideas so that I had to imitate your style :) But I have credited you. So sorry anyway Simon (talk) 11:10, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
- It's fine, but it still wrote "Merry Christmas" at the message. Why not change the words on the WikiLove to something else, and it isn't really necessary to say Who created it or stuff like that. I got the idea from User:Meaghan/Xmas, and partly also from User:Meaghan/Sunshine. So yeah, you can edit a little, and change a bit. Check out other WikiLove templates with the category Category:WikiLove templates, and mix everything together! You can reuse those from other users too, BTW. DYK for Lorde
[edit]On 27 December 2014, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Lorde, which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that with her song "Royals", Lorde became the youngest artist to chart at No. 1 on the Billboard charts in 26 years? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Lorde. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

Birthday?
[edit]Noticed you only added "1991" for birthdate, and that somehow automatically said "23 years, 0 months, and 0 days old". Out of curiosity, is December 27th your birthday? Snuggums (talk / edits) 20:00, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
- @SNUGGUMS: Oh, yes, you got it right. Simon (talk) 02:06, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

Chandelier (Sia song)
[edit]Please see WP:OWN. Also, your claim that it's better to avoid mentioning the number of YouTube views is a) an arbitrary inclusion criterion against Wikipedia policy and guidelines, and b) collides with material found in reliable, third-party sources. --82.136.210.153 (talk) 12:31, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
- I understand, but there are no quality articles mention this. Simon (talk) 12:32, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
- Of course there are. See, for example, Gangnam Style. In fact, most likely it's the opposite of what you write; it's probably mentioned in almost all good quality articles of songs that have a noteworthy number of views on YouTube. --82.136.210.153 (talk) 12:36, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
By the way, in my opinion it's perfectly fine to use YouTube as a primary source for the number of views. See, for example, the references used in the List of most viewed YouTube videos article. See also WP:PRIMARY ("reliable primary sources may be used in Wikipedia"). --82.136.210.153 (talk) 12:34, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
- It happened on Gangnam Style because none of the experienced editors have taken their eyes over it for a long time. Btw, none of such sources, including Facebook or Twitter, rarely satisfy WP:RS. Simon (talk) 12:38, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
- Now you're just making up things. Your "none of the experienced editors have taken their eyes over it for a long time" is just a random remark. Besides, what I wrote is true. Almost all good/featured quality articles about songs that have lots of views mention this. Baby (Justin Bieber song) ("Although the song received 2.1 million likes"), On the Floor ("YouTube video of all time with over 784 million views"), Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) ("garnering almost 730 million views as of August 2014"), and so on. --82.136.210.153 (talk) 12:43, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
- And YouTube is a reliable primary source for the number of views because unlike "Facebook or Twitter" that you mention as "such sources", those views aren't written contributions by people but generated by software. --82.136.210.153 (talk) 12:45, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
- I'm not making it up. See the revision history of "Baby" then you'll see it yourself. Anw, you can add YouTube source to mention how much views a video get to an article and then nominate it to GA, and see what happen. Simon (talk) 12:48, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

Norway gold certification - Christina Aguilera - Back to Basics.
[edit]Why did you erase the Back to basics gold certification in Norway from the article?--88marcus (talk) 18:04, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

Ok! Thank You! :) --88marcus (talk) 05:51, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Hello HĐ. There is a misunderstanding. Woohoo was a commercial single only in the United States while You Lost Me was served as the album's second single in Europe.Chronisgr (talk) 23:40, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
- @Chronisgr: Could you please give me source please? I would be grateful if you do so. Thanks, Simon (talk) 10:16, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
Woohoo was never served to radio in Europe, while it was sent to radio as the album's second single in United States. You Lost Me was served as the second single in Europe and I Hate Boys in Australia. iTunes promo singles does not equate to commercial singles. That's a strategy that many labels have done in the past and will keep doing (see Sia, Marina and the Diamonds, Taylor Swift, Madonna et al).Chronisgr (talk) 01:20, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
- @Chronisgr: "Woohoo" doesn't need radio release to be a commercial single in Europe (just like "Suit & Tie", it was only released to radio in Italy). Many other singles also adopt this kind, it doesn't need radio release ("Breathe Me", "Suit & Tie"...) Simon (talk) 04:55, 17 January 2015 (UTC)

Hey there. As I pointed "pop" already stated from reliable sources are:

How do you think that the song is a pop song? 115.164.190.111 (talk) 14:17, 22 January 2015 (UTC)

Removing urls from book and journal citations
[edit]In your recent edits to Genie in a Bottle, you have removed urls from book and journal references. Is there any reason for this? Google Books is a good resource and allows readers and editors to verify the content without sourcing the book themselves. I'd also appreciate it if you'd leave edit summaries when you make significant content changes as you have done. Thanks, Melonkelon (talk) 03:55, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
- @Melonkelon: I remembered that it was Adabow who told me that it is no need to include links in journal/newspaper references. HĐ (talk) 03:56, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
- It's true that links are not required for journal/magazine/newspaper/book references, but that's because most of them are not available online. Just because it's not required doesn't mean it shouldn't be used if it's available. When you have copies of publications for free on Google Books, like Billboard, then I cannot see any reason not to include urls. I'm not sure what Adabow said, but I disagree with removing them. Thanks, Melonkelon (talk) 21:37, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
- That's alright. I still think that it is quite unnecessary to include links in journal references. But if you like I can re-add them. HĐ (talk) 14:44, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
- Why do you think it is unnecessary? Melonkelon (talk) 21:18, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
- Well, just a personal idea, instead of URLs for verification of online sources, printed material can be verified without Internet-based URLs (well, because they are printed). HĐ (talk) 06:23, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
- Why do you think it is unnecessary? Melonkelon (talk) 21:18, 26 January 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Love Story single cover 2.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Love Story single cover 2.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit]When tagging files for deletion per WP:CSD#F5, always remember to follow the correct procedure:
- The mandatory date parameter must always be used. Otherwise, the file ends up forever in a category of incorrectly tagged files.

[edit]Hey, I'm gonna be honest I'm pretty new to wikipedia and only made an account to keep the Azeailia Banks articles in check, but lately as I've been keeping an eye out on more and more pages, I've noticed that the IP address 70.208.225.124 has been changing the genres of many musical pieces, from Nicki Minaj, to Frank Ocean, and even Azealia Banks, which resulted in the protection of the article you were involved in. Do you know how we can stop him from changing all these articles, is there a block we can make? I just have no idea what to do and you seem to always edit the same things as me haha, so I came to you. Any help would be appreciated Azealia911 (talk) 01:24, 1 March 2015 (UTC)Azealia911
- Alright, thanks for letting me know. If you want to block that IP account, you can report it to one of the administrators (for example User:Acalamari would help). Remember that you should have valid reasons why that IP should be blocked. HĐ (talk) 02:40, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

If you are sure the song is just house then play it on https://plug.dj/tastycat. That place is for listening to EDM music. If they say it's not EDM then it's not just house. --24.91.5.11 (talk) 13:24, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
The first article you linked said house "influenced". So it's not 100% a house song, but just has influences with the house genre. So it's a Hip hop song with house influences. --24.91.5.11 (talk) 13:37, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

AB Other releases
[edit]Hey, would it be worth inserting Britney & Bey into the other artists on the other releases section? Or leave them out because they were already present on the original version of their respective song? Thanks, Azealia911 (talk) 14:23, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

- I think it is advisable that the "Other appearances" and "Guest appearances" sections be merged. HĐ (talk) 14:29, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hmm, I'd oppose against that if I'm honest. Other appearances are generally for guest verses on other peoples songs, on other peoples albums, almost all of the "other releases" are solos and have no albums
- How about changing the headline to "Other releases and guest appearances"? HĐ (talk) 14:32, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
- We could have that as the heading and then the original two separate boxes as subcategories (Like ==Singles== with ===Lead=== and ===Featured=== but ==Other releases and guest appearances== with ===Guest appearances=== and ===Other releases===, and reinstate the notes section for the other releases? One big box for the entire section just seems messy and confusing to be honest :/ Azealia911 (talk) 14:36, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. I've seen you uploading files and stuff, can you add this to the page? I'm currently unable to do so. Big help. Once uploaded, I will help with the description. Thank you. All About That Bass (A word?? / Stalking not allowed...) 18:01, 19 April 2015 (UTC)
- @MaranoFan: I highly suggest you not ask others to make file edits for you, as this can be seen as a violation of your topic ban from files. The point of a topic ban is to prevent editors from being involved in a certain area of editing (see here). The page also says: "For example, if an editor is banned from the topic "weather", they are not only forbidden to edit the article Weather, but also everything else that has to do with weather." This is why I cautioned you here not to make edits in filespace even if they are not uploads. This may need to go to ANI if we keep having issues with this.
- @HĐ: Please refer to WP:PROXYING before making a decision to edit on behalf of MaranoFan (which I do not recommend). –Chase (talk / contribs) 20:47, 19 April 2015 (UTC)
- @Chasewc91 and HĐ: But then again, it is a constructive upload and I swear to not even touch filespace. Besides, all issue was with uploads. I am really confused. Why should article suffer due my absence? Can you forget my message, and add it anyway? All About That Bass (A word?? / Stalking not allowed...) 06:20, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
- @MaranoFan: "Bans apply to all editing, good or bad... A ban is not merely a request to avoid editing 'unless they behave'. The measure of a site ban [or, in your case, a topic ban] is that even if the editor were to make good edits, permitting them to re-join the community [or permitting you to return to your problematic area of editing] is perceived to pose enough risk of disruption, issues, or harm, that they may not edit at all, even if the edits seem good." (emphasis not mine) Getting (or attempting to get) others to edit in your banned area of editing on your behalf is gaming the system by violating the intent of the ban – to keep you away from files. If you continue to do this, you may be blocked for ban evasion. –Chase (talk / contribs) 17:04, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
- I apologize and withdraw this request. All About That Bass (A word?? / Stalking not allowed...) 17:33, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

HĐ, I really love how you have been revamping the GG article, it looks so much nicer now, :) but I have a question, I saw you removed some of the information [for ex: Girls' Generation ranked number one on Forbes's Korea Power Celebrity 40, making it their second consecutive time topping the list....they ranked seventh among Japanese artists and were the top earning South Korean artist, generating over 4.3 billion yen (US$51 million). In August, Girls' Generation became the first Korean celebrity to have official postage stamps produced by the Korea Post..They were the best selling girl group of 2014, etc]. Do you find this info unnecessary or are you moving it to a different section later on? The reason I ask is because I thought some of this info shows their "impact". So just want to figure out which direction we are doing and what information should we talk about in order to make the article complete. :)--TerryAlex (talk) 16:35, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
- @TerryAlex: I will move it to the "Impact and legacy" section, as the "History" section should focus on their career imo. HĐ (talk) 02:48, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
- I will try to gather together anything I find interesting!--TerryAlex (talk) 05:21, 1 May 2015 (UTC)

Just remember that there are quite some books that talk about GG [1]--TerryAlex (talk) 16:39, 6 May 2015 (UTC)
- Never mind, I realize the sources used are not supposedly reliable.--TerryAlex (talk) 17:12, 6 May 2015 (UTC)
- I put together a list of links that I think might be useful in my sandbox. Not every link need to or can be used of course, but since I saw that you have already collected a lot of English sources, I went to look for stuff that would put a good finishing touch to the article. I looked at "Big Bang" article, and apparently there is a "Fandom" section, so I thought maybe we can also briefly talk about it here. In particular, I think the phrase "Right now it's Girls' Generation, in the future it’s Girls’ Generation, forever Girls’ Generation”, the pink lightsticks, as well as the word "Sones" can be inserted somewhere within the article (as long as we don't make it sound trivial). I also put together some links for the songs, maybe we can use them for the songs/albums articles later. I did put some soshified translations, because I thought a few are good. Anyways, thank you so much. :)--TerryAlex (talk) 04:06, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
Hi HĐ, let me ask you something, I have always been kind of "unsure" about the "Philanthropy" section, I mean, for a lot of Kpop artists out there, the most that you hear from them is that they become ambassadors for a certain organization (which I think would fit better within the "Public image" section), or that they donate/raise some small amounts of money (each time). Is this worth/notable having a mention under a "Philanthropy" section? I'm not saying that they can't be mentioned at all, but would it be better to "lump sum" it somehow? What do you think about the "Philanthropy" section on GG article right now?--TerryAlex (talk) 22:46, 9 May 2015 (UTC)
- @TerryAlex: As the "Philanthropy" section is quite long and over-detailed as well as poorly-sourced, I think it could be merged with "Endorsements" or a related section. Though, it can be removed from the article (like Big Bang (South Korean band). Simon (talk) 02:00, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- Honestly, there is barely any sources for it, so I was thinking that it could be removed as well. Thank you for answering my question. This has been on my mind for a while, want to ask you since you are so experienced. :)--TerryAlex (talk) 03:13, 10 May 2015 (UTC)

I added a few more links in my sandbox since the last time we talked, but just thought maybe we can get something out of these two articles ("growing up" image and musical styles) as these are interviews with the group themselves. http://koreajoongangdaily.joins.com/news/article/article.aspx?aid=2942939 http://koreajoongangdaily.joins.com/news/article/article.aspx?aid=2965958 --TerryAlex (talk) 06:30, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi HĐ, I reorganized my sandbox and put together a list that I think that we can be talked about. Some of those might have already been overlapped with what's already in the article, but since I think some re-writing is still needed, I leave it there, just in case if something can be used. Here is what I think can be added to the article to make it more complete: 1. fandom 2. the group does not have the intention to create another popular song like "Gee" 3. "We want to be called artist"/ don't want to show only one genre of music 4. emphasis on the group's achievement in Japan 5. GG's contribution to SM profit 6. 1st Korean artist to be featured on Korea Post stamps 7. Teamwork 8. tried to break into the American market, but was unsuccessful 9. synchronized dancing/choreography 10. dubbed as Asia's No.1 girl group 11. best selling girl group in 2014 (and prior years) 12. when appropriate, maybe a couple of good quotes can be added. [Note: Sorry if I keep on bothering you. Wish I can help more though I'm enthusiastic about improving the article :)]--TerryAlex (talk) 03:44, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Hey, I was thinking of submitting Broke with Expensive Taste for GA status, I've never really done it before though so I'm just making sure everything's perfect before doing so! Infobox person vs. musical artist
[edit]I noticed you changed some of the Girls' Generation members' infoboxes recently. I didn't see any different parameters being used, so why did you change them? I'm just curious. :) Random86 (talk) 06:22, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

Infoxbox/Partners
[edit]Hi Simon/HĐ, I noticed that you added the "partners" parameter for Taeyeon's article? Can I know the reason why you added it? I mean, I looked up the infoxbox description and I don't think they fit the "long-term life partners" definition as of right now. So I thought it would not make sense to have it there. Thanks :) --TerryAlex (talk) 14:08, 1 June 2015 (UTC)
- Well simply because Taeyeon has been dating Baekhyun so I think it's worth including it. However regarding the "long-term life" partner I may remove it afterwards. Simon (talk) 09:58, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

Your help on List of K-pop on Billboard charts!
[edit]Hi there! Thanks so much for catching SNSD this week for Social 50 chart. After putting up the page, I have been working to update it all, but know that it is an impossible task. Because it takes reviewing "all" of the BB charts, it will continue to be massive, even when I get it updated to 2015, which I am working on now. BB K-town articles usually headline the "aberrant" charts not hit every week, like Japan Hot 100, World Albums and World Digital Songs (I'm sure we'll see something on the 4 K-pop hits on Twitter Top tracks and SNSD on Social 50 this week!)
I have re-added the link to the Social 50 chart page, which you may have accidently deleted. And I have reorganized the chart to match all the others on the page, so that any new editors adding information will find a consistent pattern on each chart, and get used to using them. Your chart organization was fine, but I had to choose one to go with, and I think it makes it easier for everyone to use the same chart "wikitable" for every chart on the page, do you think?
To conform to WP rules, (although I liked seeing each band highlighted every time!) I have been deleting all my extra links to "band" pages, and have just put one link per chart; as the page volume is growing, and needing to keep it trimmed.
It looks like you know SNSD well, so if you would like to add the chartings I may have missed for them, or any other group, it would be great! I see that you are semi-retired, but I would love to have your help with this page. I can let you know what I'm working on, and it would be great to share! I'm currently finishing up Japan Hot 100 and World Digital Songs back years. Thanks so much & congrats to SNSD, as always!--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 16:44, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

Genre link for Christina Aguilera's Candyman
[edit]Back in May I corrected the genre link on the Candyman page and you reverted the edit and said it shouldn't have been fixed. If you actually check my links they contain information from her discography wiki page. Its better to check if my sources are incorrectly false/untrue rather than just deleting them based on your personal critieria or perhaps is there reason to believe that she did not at least sell 80 millions records worldwide? Thanks. Bryceco123 (talk) 01:08, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
- @Bryceco123: Per WP:RS the source you added was "AfterLD", which is considered unreliable for encyclopedic articles. You can find other sources that are considered reliable (e.g. from news, press releases...) nonetheless. Simon (talk) 12:17, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
