CATC Design School (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Hi Guerillo,
I recently posted a Wikipedia article on CATC Design School, and you have deleted it. Can you please give me some pointers on how to improve this as I am new to posting on Wikipedia, as I am looking to repost a revised article shortly. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thinkified (talk • contribs) 23:23, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

- Oh sorry. Make sure that the article that you write sounds neutral and does not read like a school's webpage. --Guerillero | My Talk 02:05, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
Hans Tolford
Hans Tolford (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Why did you delete the article about Hans Tolford? He is an artist with nothing on the internet, for reference. He is a person with great importance for sound installations and the learning of body language, the sounds the body makes. I had problem in uploading pictures, wich I think is the best reference you can get with a person like him. I have the rights to the pictures, but the uploading form didnt worked out well.

- Would you please be more civil. I did not think there was anything worth merging on that page and a redirect isn't that useful. Only a wikipedian would search for "List of X episodes".--Guerillero | My Talk 01:27, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
'Cor blimey gov' that were too quick for an old one (joined 1998ish) like me. Why did you not just stick a copyright marker on it and give me 24hrs to respond? To which I would have said that although I borrowed the text I was going to review it. Then I might have mentioned that the text is well out of copyright as Cannon Stenning wrote the piece in the 1930s. Please consider others, the article was not offensive,, attacking or an advert so deserved a bit more grace. Miffed Cosnahang (talk) 14:40, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
- It seems that you restored it... I hope it was written before 1923 because anything written after that date is still copyrighted in the United States and is a copyvio. --Guerillero | My Talk 01:34, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
- I did not restore but rewrite. The copyright is UK so expired some time ago, also re-read the copyvio stuff and also the quick deletion and I will always quote two sources to prevent this in future. ;) Cosnahang (talk) 14:50, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

MSU Interview
Dear Guerillero,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, were it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name HERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) 01:01, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Hello!
I have heard about what happened to my creation that did not obey the A7 rule.
I am sorry of what I did, but actually I tried to add something new to the Wikipedia community.
The page was checked and found that it's a stub and did not had to do with the A7 rule.
Again, I am sorry for breaking any Wikipedia rule. I may be a good Wiki articler one day.
I just need to practice in the Sandbox soon enough.
Thanks for your time

The Right Stuff: January 2012
By Lionelt
On January 21, The Conservatism Portal was promoted to Featured Portal (FP) due largely to the contributions of Lionelt. This is the first Featured content produced by WikiProject Conservatism. The road to Featured class was rocky. An earlier nomination for FP failed, and in October the portal was "Kept" after being nominated for deletion.
Member Eisfbnore significantly contributed to the successful Good Article nomination of Norwegian journalist and newspaper editor Nils Vogt in December. Eisfbnore also created the article. In January another Project article was promoted to Featured Article. Luís Alves de Lima e Silva, Duke of Caxias, a president of Brazil, attained Featured class with significant effort by Lecen. The Article Incubator saw its first graduation in November. A collaboration spearheaded by Mzk1 and Trackerseal successfully developed Star Parker to pass the notability guideline.
By Lionelt
Another discussion addressing the project scope began in December. Nine alternatives were presented in the contentious, sometimes heated discussion. Support was divided between keeping the exitsing scope, or adopting a scope with more specificity. Some opponents of the specific scope were concerned that it was too limiting and would adversely affect project size. About twenty editors participated in the discussion.
Inclusion of the article Ku Klux Klan (KKK) was debated. Supporters for inclusion cited sources describing the KKK as "conservative." The article was excluded with more than 10 editors participating.
Project membership continues to grow. There are currently 73 members. Member Goldblooded (pictured) volunteers for the UK Conservative Party and JohnChrysostom is a Christian Democrat. North8000 is interested in libertarianism. We won't tell WikiProject Libertarianism he's slumming. Let's stop by their talkpages and share some Wikilove.

Articles about the GOP presidential candidate and staunch traditional marriage supporter have seen an explosion of discussion. On January 8 an RFC was opened (here) to determine if Dan Savage's website link should be included in Campaign for "santorum" neologism. The next day the Rick Santorum article itself was the subject of an RFC (here) to determine if including the Savage neologism was a violation of the BLP policy. Soon after a third was opened (here) at Santorum controversy regarding homosexuality. This RFC proposes merging the neologism article into the controversy article.
The Abortion case closed in November after 15 weeks of contentious arbitration. The remedies include semi-protection of all abortion articles (numbering 1,500), sanctions for some editors including members of this Project, and a provision for a discussion to determine the names of what are colloquially known as the pro-life and pro-choice articles. The Committee endorsed the "1 revert rule" for abortion articles.

Ambassador Program Logo
Hi Guerillero! Jami said you mentioned you'd like a transparent version of the Ambassador logo; crazy timing, actually, as I had just updated an SVG version of it to Commons yesterday -- let me know if it doesn't meet your needs: Commons:File:WikipediaAmbassadorProgramLogo.svg. There's a second version there too that doesn't have the outer circle; I'll be sending something out tomorrow about a new visual identity for the Education Program as a whole that I've been working on where there's more information. -- LiAnna Davis (WMF) (talk) 19:57, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
- To be useful, that image needs to be cropped just a little bit from the logo itself. There is far too much whitespace for it the SVG to be useful. I would crop it myself but I can't figure out how to do it --Guerillero | My Talk 05:32, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
- It took me a while to figure it out (apparently I had an old version of Inkscape and had to upgrade to get it to work!), but they are now closely cropped. Thanks, Guerillero! -- LiAnna Davis (WMF) (talk) 19:24, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Socheid
Hi Guerillero. I noticed you blocked User:Socheid recently for edit warring. This user hasn't been blocked before and had asked me for help earlier today. When I went to look just now I saw he had been blocked, without a warning, for his multiple reverts at Ramones. While I am not standing up either for the edits or for his edit warring, I wonder if he was even aware of WP:3RR or WP:EDITWAR prior to now? As far as I know he has never been in trouble before. Any thoughts? --John (talk) 22:18, 18 February 2012 (UTC)
- My block wasn't for a 3rr violation it was for slow motion edit warring. Looking over the history, he has been trying to push his version of the page since exactly 2 months ago. It appears that it was rejected on the talk page. As for a lack of knowledge of wikipedia, from his post here I assume that he knows what edit waring is. The page is on my watchlist because it it a high profile punk article. --Guerillero | My Talk 22:32, 18 February 2012 (UTC)
- I totally see what you mean about the edit warring. I was just reading the article talk page and I don't think he got a fair shake there though. I see him talking about edit-warring but I am not clear he explicitly knew he would get blocked if he continued. It's totally up to you of course but I would respectfully ask for leniency on Socheid's behalf. I've worked with him a lot over the years and in my experience he is really good at taking advice if it is given clearly and courteously. It seems to me that on this occasion he was reverted and his edits rubbished in article talk, and that nobody explicitly told him that he would get blocked if he continued. Can you give him another chance? You can put me down as a mentor if that helps and if of course Socheid agrees not to edit war in future. --John (talk) 22:46, 18 February 2012 (UTC)
- Noted. I am going to reduce it to time served and going to assume an extra measure of good faith that he will heed your words. --Guerillero | My Talk 22:57, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

Third person
Its a direct quote from what he stated above. Anyway they are both as bad as each other I've left a note to them saying they both should back of. Until i looked at there block log which eppies comment about admin warnings and the fact he started doing the same looking at me prompted me to i realised they both have history of similar things and to be honest neither are worth defending. The reason i had a problem with your ani is it was very one sided and failed to mention the wider background which was very appropriate to the case. Especially when night isn't the only editor who has an issue with eppie at this time.Edinburgh Wanderer 21:09, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- good luck your going to need it Nights agreed to leave him alone. But given Eppe cant see trawling through his edits, archived talk pages to look for warnings and running reports to compare his afds scores to himself and checking his noms is essentially what night started to do to him then this is going to happen again as epee won't agree to leave him alone I've tried but given nights leaving him alone he needs to do the same. He even ran me through his report. Ill leave it to you to sort out the next time and I'm fairly certain there will be a next time.Edinburgh Wanderer 00:02, 21 February 2012 (UTC)
