Can't do it

I can't seem to make it work on this type of template, using this works but can't seem to do it with what you want. --  axg ⁞⁞ talk  14:38, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Is that consistent with the present template so when I copy paste it all the infoboxes will update? Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 14:40, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
I copied the fields from your template so yes. --  axg ⁞⁞ talk  14:45, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
And some will be optional? lol. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 14:48, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
If you know how to work Infobox Eurovision, then this should be the same. --  axg ⁞⁞ talk  14:53, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
I learned from the instructions while I tried to update it. I'll see if I can fix it, thanks for your help. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 14:54, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Eurovision Newsletter - September 2008

This Newsletter was delivered by Grk1011 (talk). If you are no longer interested in WikiProject Eurovision then please remove your name from this list.

Hi, I am reviewing Lebanon in the Eurovision Song Contest for GA. I think it is a very nice, interesting article. I have only one question which I asked you on the talk page review. It is regarding the word "broadcaster". I am wondering if you mean boradcast company or network, as "broadcaster" usually refers to a person. Regards, —Mattisse (Talk) 21:33, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Congrats on making Good Article, despite my messing up the article!--brewcrewer (yada, yada) 22:18, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Eurovision

Thanks for the recognition. I'm very proud of my Eurovision WikiProject :) but it still mising templates, articles, etc. In Portuguese Wikipedia, doesn't exist a good struture in terms of Eurovision. There, we have a lot of work to do lol realy But with the time we can transform our wikipedia in one of the best about Eurovision lol

Sorry, but i I didn't understand what you want :S do you want that i transform the Project (in Portuguese), more easy for you can understand better?

Once again, sorry, but this time, for my english lol, i don't have a good english (vocabulary) lol so I wanted to ask you to correct my mistakes in the commentaries that i send to you. bye and good contributions --João P. M. Lima (talk) 16:47, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

ok lol i'm 100% agree lol but who we do that? --João P. M. Lima (talk) 17:04, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
ok, but, where is the Elena Paparizzou forum? --João P. M. Lima (talk) 17:14, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
ok, thanks. I will make more alterations on the Eurovision WikiProject (in Portuguese), still alert lol bye --João P. M. Lima (talk) 17:23, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Since when copyrighted material is not removed, if it can't be used under fair use?. --Kalogeropoulos (talk) 21:40, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

in the box of Eurovision you get out some important articles (like juries, etc) we are creating more articles than the english wikipedia, and after they are created i will translate to the english wikipedia. I thik that in the way it is now, is more complete. But say your ideias first lol --João P. M. Lima (talk) 21:55, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
My ideia it's put all of the songs and the artists just on one page. The juries the same, and the local of the competitions the same. I think that with the time, we gona have a great articles about everithing related with eurovision. lol our work is baseated in translations of the english and spanish wikipedia lol --João P. M. Lima (talk) 22:01, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
I like to separate everething lol but tomorow we see and talk about the project lol i go sleep lol tomorow i start a new year (at school) lol an i have to get up at 6:30 lol so bye, and good contribuitions (and sorry my english) --João P. M. Lima (talk) 22:05, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

1996 non-entries

I was just thinking about the songs that ididn't get through the pre-selection of Eurovision 1996. Do you think maybe we should start creating them - they're just as important as all the other songs (in my opinion). Sims2aholic8 (Michael) (talk) 22:25, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Scrap that - I've gone off the idea now. Sims2aholic8 (Michael) (talk) 22:35, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Hello my friend

Hello I'm a Spanish wiky, and the reference about the participation of Spain is false now. Maybe in a future Spain will confirm the participation, but now isnt on Eurovision. The reference said only "The Big four will be in the final"--80.31.12.99 (talk) 01:32, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Helga Vlahović

I just wrote the article on Helga Vlahović. You've worked on the Yugoslav articles and I was wondering if you could find a few more sources, perhaps in English, to add. :) Mike H. Fierce! 19:37, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

I'll take a look. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 19:37, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
"Bandido" is listed to be put on DYK, I'll also nominate Helga's article. Mike H. Fierce! 07:06, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
I never got around to nominating Helga's article; it's too old now, but Bandido was on DYK yesterday (September 25). Mike H. Fierce! 04:36, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for the invite to join the Eurovision group... I would love to accept this invite. Please inform me of how I add my name to your group.

Thank you Gareth (Pr3st0n (talk) 22:29, 19 September 2008 (UTC))

Hi Stephen; I have added my name to the list. However, here is my MSN as requested. gareth.forrest@live.co.uk (Pr3st0n (talk) 22:29, 19 September 2008 (UTC))

Hi Stephen;

Thanks again for sending me your message; I am aware about copy/paste chunks from other websites; and this is something that I rarely do anyway - I always prefer to use my own words, as I like to make things more easier understood for other readers, especially any younger viewers who may be doing research for educational studies - avoiding long complex words, which may confuse the younger audience. Also, with regards to copy parts of your page, I was only using the template, as a base, and then I could build my own version. Hope you don't mind LOL - I still need to learn how to make tables etc. (Pr3st0n (talk) 02:27, 20 September 2008 (UTC))

Re:DYK Paparizou

I did it for the sake of consistency. So she's using a sort of double-spelling? That's highly unusual for an entertainer (at least in English-speaking countries) because it will tend to confuse fans. --BorgQueen (talk) 15:29, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

I see. Then why don't you move her article to Helena Paparizou, since this is English Wikipedia? --BorgQueen (talk) 15:42, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
Sorry to talk in circles but you should probably call her Elena on DYK too, since the name should be consistent in both DYK template and her article. If consensus was that her article is to be named Elena then the fact she entered the contest with another spelling is not really relevant. --BorgQueen (talk) 15:50, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

CrownVic

Please excuse me for not replying, I only now do some scarce and random edits, very rarely anything major, as I simply do not have too much time to spend for WP (I still spend far more time here than I actually should), so I try not get too involved as chances are I'd leave any project unfinished.

I have not been involved with GA for quite some time now, so I am not fully aware of any changes to the WIAGA or the process that might have occurred in the meantime - though I guess the WIAGA aren't overly amibigious, and you can always simply submit an article when you think it is easy, you should get a detailed review of what needs to be improved should there be anything left. As concerns WP:CAR, the guidelines are neither completely codified, nor even comprehensive, so I may present you with my view on how the article should look like (which should not be too far from the generally accepted conventions of the Project, even if unwritten), also including general stuff required to go through GA (though the GA tends to simply be about being a good Wikipedia article, nothing intricate about it).

So, if you find it of any assistance, I can try to answer your questions and doubts, and provide some quickie reviews if you please. Kind regards, PrinceGloria (talk) 16:56, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Peggy Zina-Ta Prota Chronia.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

 • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
 • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is actually in DYK shape; I finished it tonight: Su Canción. Mike H. Fierce! 11:12, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

I disagree, it is not IMMEDIATELY IMPORTANT to state her name at the very first part. I'm a journalist; I'd like to think I know how to write since I get paid for it. Wow! Just checked the articles you showed me, they are very detailed. If it is of any help (which I know it will be), I am teaching myself Swedish so that I can understand more about Melodfestivalen 2009 (cause I love MF!) and I am very, very ready to be head of the MF2009 article, at the moment the MF 2009 article redirects to Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest, surely it's time for Melodifestivalen 2009 to have it's own page? Also, I think that we really need to get the ESC 2009 page semi-protected when it comes to time of National Selections and arguable comments, we had a heluva lot of hassle last year. ńăŧħăń - ŧăłķ 21:35, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
Ok - just seen the Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 page. Surely all that information on MF09 should be in it's own article, as soon as you give me the go-ahead i'll do it. ńăŧħăń - ŧăłķ

Hmm - compare the Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with 2009 you'll see that all the information on MF should be in its separate article. Every year MF has it's own article so we must keep up this tradtion. We have to remember that it's bigger than Eurovision in Sweden. I accepted your msn too. ńăŧħăń - ŧăłķ 16:42, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Kalomira SohoFM 01d r.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Kalomira SohoFM 01d r.jpg was previously deleted as a result of an articles for deletion (or another XfD)

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Kalomira SohoFM 01d r.jpg, please affix the template hangon to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot (talk) 01:10, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi. Do you know who the actual photographer of Image:Kalomira SohoFM 01d r.jpg is? We know what web site it came from, but the question is, what is the name of the photographer, and what evidence is there, that s/he released the image on GFDL. --Rob (talk) 02:35, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
I do not know the author personally, but according to the person who uploaded it, he claimed to have the right to release it has and it is also seen across the internet now. I have a feeling that the user just made the account to upload his/her pictures so asking for a clarification would not work since the user obviously has no intention of coming back. Also since it has been over two years without a single complaint, I feel that deleting the image because of a suspicion is unwarranted. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 03:08, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
For clarification, the user that orig. uploaded it (Marina cy) IS the orig. photographer of the photo. Her user name is that, that was on the photo itself. It was released under a GFDL before. If worst comes to worst, I know the user on KalomoiraNetwork.com and can most likely get into contact with her. What do we need to do to re-upload the image with the proper licensing? Greekboy (talk) 14:40, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
I also see that it has been deleted again. I'd like to know what the "blatant copyright violation" was according to the deleting admin. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 17:18, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

--Innmaster (talk) 19:19, 14 October 2008 (UTC)Hi, I admire the fact that you are very active in the Wikipedia and trying to protect the information about Isis Gee, but honestly I do not understand why you are constantly cutting off significant misinformation’s about the artist. I am not an active user of Wikipedia, and I am not trying to be, but I am observing this artist carrier and all of the facts related to her. I hope you are not trying to diminish the credits of the artist and I hope you have no reason to do this.. I was just going through a little bit of editing history and I must say that I'm shocked how many strange people are giving so much of their energy to explore their vandalism like as an example: 194.203.201.92. What makes this person to be so hateful ? Anyway, I believe that you are a competent editor and 100% honest with your work. Wishing you all the best, With respect, Jan

A simple translation

I went ahead and translated Eva Santamaría from es. I'll work on finding more sources. Mike H. Fierce! 08:17, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

I also fully translated Anabela and nominated it on DYK. Mike H. Fierce! 09:37, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
I added a paragraph to the lead that sums up her career well, complete with a quote from her. I think it's in good shape now, even if most of the sources are in Portuguese (only three or four of the 14 are in English). Mike H. Fierce! 17:09, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
Good job, though the sources need to be converted to cite web or some equivalent format. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 17:16, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Heyyyy

How's it going? It's been a while but if you look at my contribs you will notice that I've gotten back into the whole wiki thing. I have been reviewing all the pages of Greek pop singers and I was thinking that a major priority should be to get some album pages for Michalis Hatzigiannis, since in these days where piracy runs rampant and with a younger generation ultimately rejecting mainstream Greek pop/modern laika... he is one of the only Greek pop artists who still sells records religiously to fans. Therefore his English wiki should have more emphasis on discography. ttysoon! Imperatore (talk) 17:40, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

I started "Hombres" today, but it still has a way to go before DYK nomination. Mike H. Fierce! 20:11, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
OK good, make sure you use Infobox Single if its a CD Single though. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 20:13, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Well, most of the Eurovision songs were singles. Why use two boxes when one will suffice? Mike H. Fierce! 20:22, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Cause you need to put like the track length, artist's chronology, "from album", genre, release date, etc. See the advanced usage guidelines for the combined infobox. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 20:29, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
I'll look at it later. My concern is that the article is too short to have a really big box like that. Mike H. Fierce! 20:30, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Well in an ideal situation, it should have the singles box before ESC since all that info can be discussed in the prose. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 20:31, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
I looked at how the boxes are presented and I'll merge the singles and Eurovision boxes on articles I've done when I have more time. In the meantime, Anabela was on DYK earlier today. Mike H. Fierce! 11:59, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Bulgarian Eurovision preselection

Hello, you can clearly read that in rules published on BNT official website. The first part of preselection is called “БЪДИ ЗВЕЗДА” (Be A Star) and is the talents show for basicly new and unexperienced artists. It's aim is to select only 9 songs for a Bulgarian Eurovision preselection, titled "БГ песен в Евровизия 2009" or „БЪЛГАРСКА ПЕСЕН В EUROVISION’2009” , i.e. "BG song in Eurovision 2009", which is actual Eurovision preselection. It is very clear from the rules saying: "Be A Star" has a task to select candidates for the first stage of "Bulgarian song in Eurovision 2009" contest and to inform viewers about the most interesting things that had happened during the week in music life in our country. Be A Star page is http://eurovision.bnt.bg/be_star While BG Song in Eurovision page is http://eurovision.bnt.bg/bgeurovision2009 So this are basicly different shows, similar concept as, if you may remember, was used by Malta, with "Opportunity" and "Opportunity 2" show couple of years back. AlexeyU (talk) 15:52, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Here http://eurovision.bnt.bg/be_star you can also read that "Three songs from "Be A Star" show will continue participation in "Bulgarian Song For Eurovision". I think that headers for Be A Star should be November Final and not Quaterfinal as they are different shows. I strongly agree that there are a lot of reprting of personal opinion of some reviewers, which should not be tolerated as it is a) personal view, b) extensive copying. AlexeyU (talk) 15:58, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
Well keep in mind that a description of the performance is not always bad. "BG song for Eurovision" is not the "official" title of the selection, I especially don't like the "BG song" as that does not make sense. I think it should probably be just national selection or something like that. November final didnt make sense much to me since the first heat of it is in october, it also makes describing the contest a little harder. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 16:34, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
If you look even on header of the page http://eurovision.bnt.bg/ , it says "БГ песен в Евровизия 2009". This or more complete version „БЪЛГАРСКА ПЕСЕН В EUROVISION’2009” has been title of Bulgarian selection for many years. BG is common short form from Bulgarian. So, both "BG song for Eurovision" or "Bulgarian Song For Eurovision" can be used as title of preselection. Regarding 2nd part, I checked, they title it as "Second concert with vote of viewers - performers from month of November", same with October of December. So any short form from it probably will do. AlexeyU (talk) 16:57, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
I believe originally they were announced as monthly contests, I guess they can be changed to be October, November, and December. I thought BG was just Bulgaria so "Bulgaria song" did not make sense (just as "Malta Song for Europe" does not). The changes you have proposed will mean that entire article will have to be read through again for a few wording changes. Also the headings need to be renamed and formatted so they are aesthetically pleasing which is hard since there are so many. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 17:03, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Ola kala

Can you pull up an example? The version thing looks really redundant- the cells cannot possibly contain anything meaningful and every first = original release... Imperatore (talk) 23:07, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Does it make more sense now? Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 01:39, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
How can we include singles off the international albums (ie dis lui from french release)? Imperatore (talk) 01:52, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
My sources are more empirical if anything lol. Director names and production company come from watching the MAD videos again. As for the shooting location, well I recognize that its my city in ola kala, and dis lui, it was mentioned in a youtube comment. (yes ok maybe I should omit that part lol). I'll go looking for sources and at the very least I'll pull up mad pages for the director names. Imperatore (talk) 02:53, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
Wow after some google searching I found a video database that confirms both the filming locations. lmao. There's also release dates. Imperatore (talk) 03:12, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
Huh? This was only a greek market single. But yeah i get there this international release conflict because its also included on there. Imperatore (talk) 03:34, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
It was a single from the album overall, im gonna take out the french release too. in the singles section you say jkbelg was released as a single from the fgjbrelkg album only in france or only in greece. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 03:36, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
Weird typos here, can you clarify..
They arent typos they are example single names lol. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 04:02, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
Now I'm really confused lmao... Do you mean they are like dummy names (ie. " in the singles section you say X was released as a single from the Y album only in france or only in greece") Imperatore (talk) 04:05, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
Exactly, its just passed midnight and im tired lol. I'm going to bed. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 04:12, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
Same here. Thanks for the help! Imperatore (talk) 04:13, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
The "vague" tags for the region will probably stay there forever. There is absolutely no way to know each country and this is probably because it was imported out of France in other markets and not released by domestic Universal companies (with maybe the exception of Asian companies which usually have asian text on the releases). Moreover this release seems to be a French release. Secondly you may find some individual country information on a music store website, say if you're looking for the Belgium release (if one exists), and the site will most likely indicate the import date (when they imported it from France or wherever else French CDs may be distributed from, like the UK). So ultimately we should just remove the vague tags or find some other solution. Imperatore (talk) 19:27, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
Try searching the different iTunes stores, they usually list thaat kind of stuff. I'm going to work now. If it was only released in France and then exported then its not released in the country it was exported to. Like I can order a cd from Greece, but that doesn't mean it was released in the US. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 19:29, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
iTunes can be a solution, but even there it can be hard to find definitive answers. And this is considered an international release because Universal France is mandated to mass distribute its own releases very easily in foreign markets. For a greek multinational, say universal greece, this would be nearly impossible because they don't have multinational wholesale mass distributors and are not mandated to have such deals. You would have to find a specialty importer if you're in the US, for example. So while most of these sources say its an international release they are right, but that doesn't mean it ceases to be a French import in other markets. In case you haven't notices already, an in depth explanation unraveling the Polygraphic issue is on Greekboy's talk. I tried to be pretty straightforward lol! Imperatore (talk) 02:37, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

natural-born citizenship in the United States

Thank you for your thoughts on “natural-born citizenship.” Please feel free to comment further, on the article talk page. Specifically, I read consensus on the article talk page to favor focusing the article on the United States, but I read consensus on WP:GACC/Nominations to favor broadening the geographic scope. User:JPG-GR (who has since been elected Administrator) perspicaciously closed the discussion for my “proposal #2” on the article talk page as “no consensus.” Thank you. 69.140.152.55 (talk) 05:29, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Anna Vissi

LoL so i guess my reason wasn't good enough Imperatore (talk) 01:34, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

No, lol. I replied on the article's talk. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 01:36, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
I started a discussion with Greekboy where I said we should move to include the country name after the multinational label for the artist infobox only. I think it makes it much more informative/relevant. I got the idea after seeing it as such for many other artists on wiki, like European artists, in general, but also Canadian artists. He said he'll look into it. What's your take??? Imperatore (talk) 02:22, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
Also forgot to mention that the wiki policies don't really specify Imperatore (talk) 02:27, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
I'll look into it too. I have two exams tomorrow and a new Law and Order SVU is on, so I'm only partially active right now lol. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 02:28, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
LOL, I'm watching SVU also its kinda boring. Imperatore (talk) 02:30, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
