Straw poll on reliable sources for Eurovision articles

[edit]

The second RfC on sourcing for Eurovision articles has now being running for several weeks, you can view it at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eurovision#RfC on reliable sources for Eurovision articles. In order to help gauge the spread of opinion and draw conclusions from this discussion a straw poll has been started at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eurovision#Straw poll. All project members are encouraged to read the RfC thoroughly and then cast their votes as they see fit. Rationales are still encouraged in the main discussion area above the poll, and participants can add appropriate new sources or options to the poll as they wish. Debuting Countries (Unconfirmed)

[edit]
  • Kosovo Kosovo's RTK has applied for EBU membership which should also be validated by 2010, meaning it will be able to take part in the 2010 contest, after failing to enter the 2009 contest, after it's break up from Serbia.
  • Lebanon Lebanon's ban after refusing to broadcast Israel's entry or display it on their official eurovision website has now been lifted, although their entry into the contest hasn't been confirmed.
  • Liechtenstein Liechtenstein's; 1FLTV has applied for EBU membership, and membership should be validated by the end of 2009, meaning it will be able to take part in the contest.
  • Qatar Qatar's Qatar Radio has recently received EBU membership, earlier than expected and is interested in joining the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest.

These all have source's, but I don't know how to add sources, for Kosovo, Lebanon and Liechtebstein, the source is the EBU, Qatar's source is Qatar Radio, it appears though that the EBU page hasn't been updated recently.

There is no place for "POTENTIAL" debuts. If you would like to discuss that, the talk page of the article is the place to do it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Eurovision_Song_Contest_2010 Moreover, there has been no ban for Lebanon, it is pure fan speculation. Same goes for Qatar, Qatar Radio (why Radio?) is not full EBU member at this moment.

Lebanon got a ba n from entering the contest in 2005 which has been confirmed by EBU, and Qatar got EBU membership earlier than expected, the wiki pages just havn't been updated yet, they have got it now: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qatar_Radio And Qatar is not the only place to have a station with Radio in you know.

Right so if I add unconfirmed to the end it will be fine :/, Because I can see a couple of them being in next years eurovision, and evidence points towards the fact they will atleast try.

Hi, I've redirected the article to Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2009 for the time being as it only consists of one short sentence. You're welcome to restore it, however, and add some more information, references, etc. Thanks. TheRetroGuy (talk) 20:39, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the PRODs you put on this article and two others like it, in order to take them straight to AfD here. With the last set of hoax contest articles from this author, s/he removed the PROD after a few days, so I reckon this will save time. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 18:42, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
