Speedy deletion of Wikichess

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Wikichess requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. NickContact/Contribs 18:17, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that it is considered vandalism to remove speedy deletion templates from pages you created. This can result in a block. If you wish to contest the deletion, place the holdon template under the deletion template and explain why the page should not be deleted in the talk page. Thank you. Theseeker4 (talk) 18:41, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

December 2008

[edit]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Wikichess. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion. Thank you. NickContact/Contribs 19:31, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Kayden William Troff

[edit]

I have nominated Kayden William Troff, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kayden William Troff. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Notability of Yvette Nagel

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Yvette Nagel, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Yvette Nagel seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Yvette Nagel, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot (talk) 20:21, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of The Inferior

[edit]

A tag has been placed on The Inferior requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Proposed deletion of The Deserter (novel)

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article The Deserter (novel), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

there is no indication that this meets the requirements of Notability (books) - see especially the section Not yet published books.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. JohnCD (talk) 16:03, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure why you left me a message about this - I didn't PROD it. On the other hand, I've replaced the {{primarysources}} tag (not added by me) which you deleted, as it is still relevant. PamD (talk) 17:10, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 20:12, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Evanescent (past participle) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This is a dictionary definition, and Wikipedia is not a dictionary. it is also an incorrect definition: it is not a past participle, and a past participle is not what the article says it is.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. —Largo Plazo (talk) 20:02, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated The Victors (book), an article that you created, for deletion. [edit]

Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did to the page Peadar Ó Guilín. Blank pages are malicious to Wikipedia as they often confuse readers. If it is a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalized, please revert it to the last legitimate revision. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please use the deletion process for how to proceed. AfD nomination of Abby Marshall

[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Abby Marshall. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Abby Marshall. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:14, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ChessV

[edit]

Hi, just following up on your comment on the AfD for ChessV. One of the sources you mentioned said bibliography has been updated. Here's the article that was added, according to the article page of the bibliography:

Droste (2008). "Learning the Piece Values for Three Chess Variants". ICGA Journal. 31: 209–233. Based on the keywords, it appears that it discusses ChessV. I don't have the ICGA Journal, do you? [http://www.ke.tu-darmstadt.de/publications/reports/tud-ke-2008-07.pdf This might be a preprint of that article, but I'm not 100% sure. Jodi.a.schneider (talk) 12:44, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
