And thanks for digging up those links to the Talk:Learned Protocols of the Elders of Zion page archives from its turn on the main page so I didn't have to! Actually, I brought that example up, not Josh. Daniel Case (talk) 23:01, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- You did? Mm, I didn't take notes. It was an interesting tangent, then :) Regarding the links, no problem: I was either going to add them or a {{fact}} tag :P GracenotesT § 20:26, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Comment typo
I think you messed up your comment here. You accidentally added one too many tildes. [1]
I fixed it, but I thought I'd let you know because I think template unsigned is ugly and sort of insulting. It's like, "Look at that guy! He can't even sign his own comments properly!" I always feel really bad when I forget to sign my comments properly and then sinebot has to come along and pwn me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zenwhat (talk • contribs)
- Actually, I did sign, but it was between nowiki tags :P (showing the substitution of the {{user}} template). Yeah, I did intend to have one less tilde there. GracenotesT § 15:57, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Template:User contrib meta
A tag has been placed on Template:User contrib meta requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.
If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).
Thanks. --MZMcBride (talk) 19:57, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

New York City Meetup
|
In the afternoon, we will hold a session dedicated to meta:Wikimedia New York City activities, and have salon-style group discussions on Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects (see the last meeting's minutes).
Well also make preparations for our exciting Wikipedia Takes Manhattan event, a free content photography contest for Columbia University students planned for Friday March 28 (about 2 weeks after our meeting).
In the evening, we'll share dinner and chat at a local restaurant, and (weather permitting) hold a late-night astronomy event at Columbia's telescopes.
You can add or remove your name from the New York City Meetups invite list at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Invite list.
You're also invited to subscribe to the public Wikimedia New York City mailing list, which is a great way to receive timely updates.
This has been an automated delivery because you were on the invite list. BrownBot (talk) 02:51, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
DEFAULTSORT on Stefan Mohr
Thanks for fixing that for me. I know better than that and I usually get it right, but sometimes my fingers don't seem to type what my brain should be telling them. Quale (talk) 20:55, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Not sure about this Gracenotesbot edit
[2]. Is the redirect page a shortcut (other than in the most literal 'one string shorter than the other' sense? --Tagishsimon (talk) 00:06, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
- No. Sorry about that; I've reverted that edit, and another one tandem with it. I had accidentally approved those two edits, as they came up after a string of untagged shortcuts, and intended to shut the bot off before they executed (using a single-threaded executor isn't very flexible). I was not able to do so, due to being away from the keyboard: the way the bot is set up, edits are approved in bulk, then committed at an appropriate rate. Those edits were entirely my fault. Thanks for bringing it up! Cheers, GracenotesT § 00:29, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Template:ME-nav-compact
Any idea why this template tromps on the last section at the bottom of the page? It's been overwriting stuff on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Middle-earth ever since you put it in back in July 2007. Elphion (talk) 20:15, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Script request
Thanks again It looks like it's working fine. Again, it would be nice if the script could make you go to http://simple.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=PAGENAME&action=edit if the page doesn't exist, but that might be a hassle for the servers if there is a request being made on simple.wp every time I load a page on en.wp or vice versa. I can simply make another click (or press Ctrl+Alt+E.) Thanks again for directing me to the requests page. -Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 02:25, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
No problem. In case you're interested, here's the version that checks automatically:
addOnloadHook(function() {
addPortletLink('p-cactions', 'http://' + xwLang + '.wikipedia.org/wiki/' + wgPageName, 'simple', 'ca-x' + xwLang)
wpPageExists(wgPageName);
});
function wpPageExists(title) {
var url = 'http://' + xwLang + '.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=query&format=json&callback=wpPageExistsCb&titles=' + title;
var scriptElem = document.createElement('script');
scriptElem.setAttribute('src', url);
scriptElem.setAttribute('type','text/javascript');
document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(scriptElem);
}
function wpPageExistsCb(obj) {
var exists = obj['query']['pages']['-1'];
var elm = document.getElementById('ca-x' + xwLang);
elm.className = exists ? 'new' : '';
elm.firstChild.href = 'http://' + xwLang + '.wikipedia.org/wiki/' + wgPageName + (exists ? '?action=edit' : '');
}
For Simple Wikipedia, add "var xwLang = 'en';" to the top; for English, add "var xwLang = 'simple';" to the top. The query made is rather minimal, but if you want it could be triggered by a specific action. Cheers, GracenotesT § 03:42, 9 April 2008 (UTC).
- Oh buddy Initially, the earlier versions of both scripts worked just fine. Then, the one on Simple stopped somehow, but the one on en still worked. Then, I tried using the newer versions of both and neither works. I have no idea what's going on here. Can you help me? -Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 19:46, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Ah, I didn't realize you used the Standard skin on your Simple English account (if that's what you're using... I'm a bit confused =]) Here's some code that works in standard:
var xwLang = 'en'
addOnloadHook(function() {
var links = document.getElementsByTagName('td')[1];
var xwLink = document.createElement('a');
xwLink.appendChild(document.createTextNode(xwLang + ' version'));
xwLink.href = 'http://' + xwLang + '.wikipedia.org/wiki/' + wgPageName;
xwLink.id = 'ca-x' + xwLang;
links.insertBefore(xwLink, getElementsByClassName(links, 'p', 'subtitle')[0]);
links.insertBefore(document.createTextNode(' | '), xwLink);
wpPageExists(wgPageName);
});
function wpPageExists(title) {
var url = 'http://' + xwLang + '.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=query&format=json&callback=wpPageExistsCb&titles=' + title;
var scriptElem = document.createElement('script');
scriptElem.setAttribute('src', url);
scriptElem.setAttribute('type','text/javascript');
document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(scriptElem);
}
function wpPageExistsCb(obj) {
var exists = obj['query']['pages']['-1'];
var elm = document.getElementById('ca-x' + xwLang);
elm.className = exists ? 'new' : '';
elm.href = 'http://' + xwLang + '.wikipedia.org/wiki/' + wgPageName + (exists ? '?action=edit' : '');
}
I'm not sure why the English version isn't working – have you tried bypassing your cache? GracenotesT § 20:21, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks So, I just noticed that the script just started working on en.wp. I have no idea how/why. Still no luck on Simple, so I'll try this new version and see what happens. I'm refreshing over and over again, but it's not working... -Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 20:27, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ugh I've tried several options on simple.wp and I'm still stuck. If you have the time and energy to assist, please post on my talk. If you don't, I do not hold that against you and I am very grateful for your time thus far. If you don't get back with me in c. 48 hours, I'll post on the requests page. -Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 05:46, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I'm still not clear on what skin you're using :) This is Monobook; this is Standard. If you're using the former on the Simple Wikipedia, install the first script. If you're using the latter on the Simple Wikipedia, install the second script. GracenotesT § 20:43, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry I'm using Monobook on both. Just to be on the safe side, I carried over all of my settings from en., including user.css, preferences, and a copy of all my scripts. Still nothing. -Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 04:39, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello!
Yesterday, an anonymous user posted a message at WP:RSN about the fact that that page had been vandalized. (The vandalism caused a large image of Avril Lavigne to cover the entire text of the page.) Instead of responding to that user, you just deleted the message without even posting a message to the user about why you were doing that. As it turned out, one of the templates on the page really had been vandalized; see Wikipedia:ANI#Giant Avril lavigne vandalism. for a discussion of the incident. If an anonymous user posts a substantive message on the wrong noticeboard, it's better to inform them of the correct place to post instead of just deleting their message. --99.140.179.169 (talk) 06:37, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
I've been thinking about resurrecting this DR process, but I'm at a bit of a loss. It lists you as a case investigator - I'm not sure what this task entailed. I figure either you went out looking for disputes to be mediated or you rejected cases that had been submitted. I'd emailed Turnbull a while back, but haven't gotten a response yet. I understand the intention, but I don't want to break the system by forgetting something important. I think it's high-time that this got resurrected (again), given the DR mess we're in (that, and it's called guerrilla - how can I turn that down? ;-).
Hope to hear from you :-) Xavexgoem (talk) 04:39, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Allegations of apartheid deletion notification
Some time ago, you participated in a deletion discussion concerning Allegations of American apartheid. I thought you might like to know that the parent article, Allegations of apartheid, was recently nominated for deletion. Given that many of the issues that have been raised are essentially the same as those on the article on which you commented earlier, you may have a view on whether Allegations of apartheid should be kept or deleted. If you wish to contribute to the discussion, please see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Allegations of apartheid (fifth nomination). -- ChrisO (talk) 18:23, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
