Image without license

[edit]

Unspecified source/license for File:Gordon Buchanan.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Gordon Buchanan.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 03:45, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Gordon Buchanan.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Gordon Buchanan.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones  (Talk) 04:58, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Arc (New York) moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, The Arc (New York), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. GirthSummit (blether) 16:37, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - just to follow up on this automated message, I wanted to explain my thinking. There were no independent sources in the article, and the only external link described the subject as an art venue rather than a concert hall. It would be great if you could work this up as a draft, explain what the subject is clearly, and get some independent sourcing to make it verifiable and to demonstrate notability before publishing. Ping me if you'd like me to review it when you're done. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 16:40, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2020 Democratic Party presidential rallies, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Dublin High School (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 08:22, 7 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:NBC's first Democratic primary debate 2020.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Zzyzx11 (talk) 05:50, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

File:NBC's first Democratic primary debate 2020.jpg listed for discussion

[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:NBC's first Democratic primary debate 2020.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for discussion. Please see the discussion to see why it has been listed (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry). Feel free to add your opinion on the matter below the nomination. Thank you. SecretName101 (talk) 21:37, 11 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:NBC's first Democratic primary debate 2020.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. WikiTable

[edit]

How can I expand the length/width of this table (basically, how can I make it longer horizontally so there are no line breaks)? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_Democratic_Party_presidential_rallies

Golfpecks256 (talk) 15:44, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

In the mobile view (which you link to) I don't think there's a way to make the table any wider. Many mobile devices wouldn't have the screen size to display a wider table anyway. In the desktop view it depends on the size of the browser window; if I view the page in full-screen mode, there are no line breaks. If I view it in a narrower window, at some point the navbox and the table start interfering with each other; that could be avoided by using {{clear}} before the section heading, but only at the cost of a lot of whitespace. All in all, I don't think having a few line breaks is enough of an issue to implement changes that cause other problems. Huon (talk) 17:39, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article 2020 Democratic Party presidential rallies is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2020 Democratic Party presidential rallies until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. SecretName101 (talk) 16:21, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Help: image licensing

[edit]

I need help finding out what image licensing is necessary for the top image of this page. https://heavy.com/news/2019/06/democratic-debate-lineup-list-thursday/

Golfpecks256 (talk) 16:10, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That page says "All rights reserved." The image is thus unsuitable for Wikipedia. Huon (talk) 16:44, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
What about this? https://www.theverge.com/2019/6/26/18759633/how-to-stream-the-first-democratic-debates-2020-presisdential-nbc Golfpecks256 (talk) 17:22, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That's a Getty image, also protected by copyright. If you cannot find that the image has been irrevocably released under a license that allows everybody to freely re-use and modify it for any purpose, including commercial purposes, it's not usable by Wikipedia (with some exceptions that aren't relevant for these kinds of images). Huon (talk) 17:37, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think the image in this article is a Getty image, so what license would it be? I'm referring to the image under the first paragraph here: https://www.designboom.com/design/clickspring-design-stace-nbc-democratic-presidential-debate-miami-florida-07-10-2019/ Golfpecks256 (talk) 20:02, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Is there any indication that the image is released under a free license? No. Then, by default, it's non-free and cannot be used on Wikipedia. Huon (talk) 21:08, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, can you delete this? https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Jamie_Dimon.jpg

I thought I saw it had it was under "fair use" somewhere, by AP Images, but I misread their statement on which images constituted fair usage. Thanks in advance! Golfpecks256 (talk) 21:29, 30 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
