Undid large deletion to Swap Execution Facility
Gogo Dodo,
Undid the deletion of firm listings in the emerging area of Swap Execution Facilities. Its not a list that violates WP policy. Its clearly not:
- Lists or repositories of loosely associated topics such as (but not limited to) quotations, aphorisms, or persons (real or fictional).
Genealogical entries
- The White or Yellow Pages. Contact information such as phone numbers, fax numbers and email addresses are not encyclopedic.
- Sales catalogs
- Changelogs or release notes.
- Non-encyclopedic cross-categorizations
- A complete exposition of all possible details
That leaves:
- Directories, directory entries, electronic program guide, or a resource for conducting business.
For example, an article on a radio station should not list upcoming events, current promotions, current schedules, etc., although mention of major events, promotions or historically significant program lists and schedules may be acceptable. Likewise an article on a business should not contain a list of all the company's patent filings. Furthermore, the Talk pages associated with an article are for talking about the article, not for conducting the business of the topic of the article.
I created that listing and I have zero business with any of the firm directly or indirectly.
Regulation of swaps is a key component of the attempt by US/UK/Asia to regulate the derivatives market, such that the 2008 financial crisis is not repeated. Each of those firms listed plays a role in the swaps market. Most are "at cost" operations. Each is to be heavily regulated.
I note WikiPedi suffers from participation of financial experts. This is unfortunate because collectively Wikipedians could contribute much to the common good. I look at "the competition" in the finance are and I see that much remains to be done at Wikipedia:
If you were a fresh reporter at FT, WSJ, NYT where would you "background"?

Protection of these articles?
Hi Gogo Dodo, could you please take a look at these articles: Esteghlal F.C. and Persepolis F.C.? They've both received more than 50 edits in the past day alone. I'm not sure whether it's a dispute or vandalism, so I would like a more experienced pair of eyes to look them over. Thanks, David1217 04:52, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

DELETING MY ARTICLE???????
Why did you delete my article on a dental hospital, please explain. The page I created about Silom dental building is similar to the one about BIDC which is also a dental hospital. Most of the information are the same so I wonder why you didn't delete BIDC's article. THEY ARE THE SAME!!!!
See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangkok_International_Dental_Center I hope you can see that most of the information are the same, but the only differences are the actual information about the hospital
Please restore my article

- I withdrew the ban discussion after he started attacking User:MuZemike, seems like revert, block, ignore is the way to go with this guy. Only other avenue I can see would be long term abuse, do you think there might be any merit to creating a report there or will it egg him on further? 81M (talk) 16:48, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

Mucnie Southside Highschool
Is there anyway possible way to get all the changes that i put into the article to get undeleted. Now i am not whining or asking why it got deleted its about seeing if there is anyway of getting it undeleted. I went to that school for 4 years and so did all my friends now if you have a sense of humor especially towards your friends then you would know why i changed it plus leaving that page empty as is just doesn't do justice to the school or the people that went to it. Now i am asking you because i can't sleep and i am quite bored but don't knock off this question just because of that, because i would really like to see the changes back on the pages whether they belong there or not. Even if there isn't a chance of it i would still like to see it happen and so would my friends. I put a lot of thought into this to try and get the right words to try and express why i would like to see them back. Now i don't know if this is pointless even thought it probably is i still had to try.
PS: If you ready all of this or even got one thing i was trying to get across then thank you very much.

Accept. The band from Germany.
I am trying to get rid of the pictures that are of them in a smaller venue in another country. The guitar player of Accept has given me some pics that he wants up there instead. I have his express permission and can prove it. There are also some false references to previous band members. There are guys on there that have never even tried out for Accept. I am new to wiki and would sure appreciate any help you could give me. In the end we can even pay you for your services via paypal. There are only 4 pictures he wants there for the new band and some text to be removed or changed. He is working on that now for me and it will also be published in GuitarWorld magazine.

Two Wrongs Don't Make a RIght Policy?
Hi Gogo,
There is an editor insisting that, because Misogyny is mis-defined to include mistrust of women, then we are somehow bound to proliferate this mistake in Misandry. I'm pretty sure there is a policy that says, "Just cuz there is a mistake in one article doesn't mean you have to reiterate/tolerate similar mistakes in others," but I cannot find the exact policy. - Regarding the first two accounts, they are declaring their possible conflict of interest and that is perfectly fine. Editing with a conflict of interest is discouraged, but against policy. And if they are careful, it can be done. There is nothing wrong with these two accounts. The third account's user page was deleted by Jimfbleak after you tagged it. The fourth and fifth accounts are somebody writing about themselves. - The article has been deleted twice because it never indicated its significance. You may start the article yourself but I suggest visiting Wikipedia:Your first article. SwisterTwister talk 00:24, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
At the time of deletion, the article contained only his name, birthdate, birth location, occupation, and a link to his website. Therefore, it was deleted because there was no meaningful content and it did not establish why his is notable enough for inclusion on Wikipedia. The deletion does not mean that he is not notable, just that the article did not say why. It could be that he is. You are welcome to create an account and start a new article about him. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 06:27, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

New thoughts about the Happy Chemicals mammalian biology article - would like to please rework for resubmission
Hi, I wrote the page on the current concept used by science authors to explain the biological basis for mood and motivation in mammals. (Happy Chemicals.) Several current authors discuss this or similar concepts and as my page got deleted fairly quickly, I'd love to learn how to rewrite it per Wikipedia guidelines. Please advise, thanks!
Proposed article material
|
---|
The happy-chemical model simplifies the workings of the mammalian brain in a way that's immediately useful. Critical issues of our times revolve around these neurochemicals, but people don't understand how they're related to each other. The happy chemical model makes it instantly clear that the mammalian brain relies on these chemicals as "go-toward" signals (in contrast to unhappy chemicals, the mammal brain's "pull-back" signal). Here are some examples of notable issues that benefit from the umbrella term "happy chemicals." -Dopamine is central to addiction; serotonin is central to depression; endorphin is central to exercise; oxytocin is central to bonding. Progress on these issues is added by the awareness of the evolutionary origins of these neurochemicals. The happy-chemical model illuminates the fact that these brain chemicals have a common survival purpose- they did not evolve for "happiness" as philosophically understood. -Post-traumatic stress is another important topic. Stress is unhappy chemicals. The term might sound colloquial, but stress instantly makes sense when you know that the mammal brain has two gears: go toward (happy chemicals) or pull away (unhappy chemicals). This model advances insight into human motivation, health, and social interaction. -The emotional experience of animals is of current interest. Animals have the same neurochemicals as humans and indeed animal research allows us to understand their functino in humans. |
I would like to re-submit it without reference to Dr. Breuning's books in the body text, and would be grateful for other revisions you can suggest.

Removed external links
Hello Gogo Dodo,
I have noticed you removed all of the external links I made to those manufacturers we are authorized for as a dealer. Many of those manufacturer pages on wiki don't have pictures for sample products, their unique products. I wanted to post those pictures up on wiki but I can't contribute those pictures without having atleast 10 contributions. I thought adding links to the articles will somewhat give your readers a way to find those products should they want to buy or just to see how it look like.
I didn't mean to spam your site, just want to get enough contributions so I can add photo of great products those perspective manufacturers has produced.

Robert Herron edit this page Discuss0 34,526pages on this wiki Robert "Bob" Herron (born 23 September 1924; age 87) is a Hollywood stuntman and actor. He appeared, uncredited, as an Enterprise crewmember named Sam in TOS: "Charlie X". He would later play the Excalbian recreation of the legendary Kahless the Unforgettable in TOS: "The Savage Curtain". As an actor, Herron had small roles in a number of films, including Gun Fury (1953), Movie Movie (1978), and City Heat (1984). He also appeared in Stanley Kramer's The Domino Principle (1977), which also featured actress Majel Barrett (Christine Chapel on TOS and Lwaxana Troi on TNG and DS9). But Herron is a stuntman first and an actor second. He has performed stunts on over 200 films and television shows, and has done so for 55 years. The films he worked on include The Ten Commandments (1956), Spartacus (1960), The Wild Bunch (1969), Shaft (1971), Rocky (1976), Poltergeist (1982), The Untouchables (1987), and L.A. Confidential (1997) -- just to name a few! His television work includes The Green Hornet, The Streets of San Francisco, and The Rockford Files. He also served as a stunt double for Jeffrey Hunter in the first Star Trek pilot, "The Cage". |
Unfortunately, he received no on-screen credit for much of his work. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.155.187.78 (talk) 18:47, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

- That was a mistake on my part. I put the talk page back. Was a little too fast on the deleting from Wikipedia:Database reports/Orphaned talk pages.
- As for the article itself, it reads like a copyright violation. Probably from here. The article was deleted once before for a copyright violation that was an obvious copy/paste dump. The two lead paragraphs as the article exists now matches the deleted copy. I did not want to register to download the PDF, but my guess is that it is copied from the source. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 16:29, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Finally, the last vandal!
Congratulations on your achievement! I'd always figured that everyone on the planet gets one shot to test whether or not Wikipedia really is the encyclopedia "anyone" can edit, half or maybe 30% of those test edits would be vandalism, so 6 billion X .3 minus 30% of our edits so far would leave us with only another one-and-a-half billion more vandalisms or so, then things would settle down. - I've never thought of looking myself up here...
- Good Lord. I have such a common surname that counting spelling variations, I have seven articles, none of them about the actual me.
- Reminds me of an incident a long while ago... I received an email thanking me for meeting with the headmaster of a rather prestigious private school, and offering me a position as a educational consultant. It also mentioned that, in light of the high regard I was held within the teaching profession, and as head of department at Australia's finest[dubious – discuss] university, I would be handsomely compensated. Of course, I replied immediately to accept the position. (I did point out that I had no recollection of the meeting, and was an undergraduate law student, and on the day on question I played two games of field hockey and went to a party at my girlfriend's house.) I also mentioned that they probably meant to send the email to my.name-at-unimelb.edu.au, not my.name-at-student.unimelb.edu.au. And I never got a reply. Would you delete this AfC submission? The article was obviously an autobiography started by the subject. Considering the subject's age, I doubt they will be notable at this time of their life or edit Wikipedia again (probably believed that Wikipedia is a social networking website). I tagged it as CSD with a message but it never went through. Thanks! SwisterTwister talk 06:11, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Content factually incorrect
Hi there
I was hoping you could help me, I am the communications manager of this organisation on this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pharmacybrands
We did not load this content, and it is not factually correct. We do not know the author and when I try to change it, I get warning messages that I will be deleted as an editor.
What do I do now? I am legally the owner of information on this company, it is also a listed company on the NZ stock exchange and therefore having incorrect content is a risk to our organisation.
We do not want to use the page for advertising, we just need to update the information to be factually correct.
Can you help me?

User OMGuyZ, related socks, and their general running amuck on this fine day.
OMGuyZ seems to be running amuck on Wikipedia, creating several socks (OMGuyZ may be a sock itself, perhaps of a recently admonished user?), adding ridiculous user categories and, every now and again, contributing an edit (by any one of said socks) that needs to be undone. This user even seems to have "joined" several projects and even the welcoming committee, seemingly for the sole purpose of welcoming their own socks. Obviously, you've at least noticed one of the socks already, Thatoneguy95, which is why I am contacting you specifically about this. The admin Swatjester seems to have put an end to the category creation, but I'm not sure either of you have looked into the user's contributions further and noticed the myriad of lunacy.
As for me, I wouldn't normally become involved in something like this, but Google Chrome is a page they edited, and one of the few pages I watch, and I'd prefer not to have to undo another of their edits - or try to make heads or tails out of the validity of one of their newest page creations.
Thanks for your time. I hope you can find the original account and get a handle on this before whomever this user is wreaks too much more havoc.

GAFL edit
Hi Gogo Dodo,
I was wondering if it would be possible to re-edit the GAFL page to what I had before or something similar. I am trying to explain to my students (at GAFL) why (while Wikipedia is awesome) they need to be careful of user generated/moderated sites for research papers. Using Wikipedia for references and basic knowledge is a good starting point but their papers must use other sources as well. I was hoping to show that I can change a Wikipedia page to say what I wanted and that it may not be noticed. I had every intention of taking it down in a week if it hadn't been removed already. I mean no offense and apologize for the inconvenience.

A curiosity
I noticed you deleted D-why under A7 of the CSD. I did nominate it under G12 as it was an unambiguous infringement. The site copied is apparently on the spam blacklist so I couldn't forward the report with the link included. I did make a comment to this effect. I am curious if you disagreed with my report, or if it even matters. But some will say I erred in the report because it was changed. I am also curious if copy pasting from a spam blacklisted site would be grounds to salt the title from creation. I am keen to see your reply. Disputed status of Gibraltar
Mr. Administrator:
First, apologize. I forgot 3RR, and then I created a new account to continue the edit war against four or more editors. Sorry. Now I try to reach consensus on talk page. I have proposed to remove some of my contributions that perhaps did not have a sufficiently reliable source and also refine others. I have proposed new sources and also have asked another editor to make clearly explicit its apparent rejection of sources that I think are worthy of all confidence. Finally, I have proposed a consensus on the wording of my contributions , but I get no response, which contrasts sharply with the speed with which my contributions were erased. Can I consider my proposal as accepted due to the silence?

I really forgot 3RR, as a real gang attacked me one after another, and then I did not think of that rule, when I saw the message was too late, then as I was very frustrated that the 3RR affect me only me, but never to them, because every time my contribution was erased by a different person, I created a new account ... and repent. If you can not understand, it's your problem.
On the issue of discuss for consensus, it is curious absence of those who so quickly erased the contributions of others without giving any justification. Obviously, if the topic is as controversial as you claim, it would be normal at least two interventions in the debate, but it seems that it is easier to leave when you have to actually agree on a solution.
Finally the questions are: Do I understand that none of my proposals are acceptable? The sources also? Do I have to seek a third opinion or I can go directly to the Arbitration Committee?--Juanmatorres75 20:00, 10 September 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Juanmatorres75 (talk • contribs)

The third opinion: "Several of the lines of discussion put forward border on original synthesis." Gogo Dodo: "I have not read any of of his comments really. I not very familiar With The subject matter". Wee Curry Monster: "The problem is not the sourcing" .... In short, this is a complex issue, and my contributions have no problem sources, and not clearly commit to Original Synthesis, let alone lack of NPOV. I consider wrong only one person and his followers (who seem to don't have a reasoned judgment on the subject) stop someone edit their contributions, with no clear evidence that these are not acceptable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Juanmatorres75 (talk • contribs) 13:10, 13 September 2012 (UTC) --Juanmatorres75 13:48, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

In fact I signed every post I've written (with four tildes and timestamp). The sign (with date and time, you can see it)appears before that SineBot says the post is unsigned. I don't know why that happens. Maybe you can help me with this.
I've been very disappointed with your message. I had interpreted the third opinion considered that the only substantial obstacle between me and get the consensus was (apart from the merely formal suggestion to separate paragraphs) that "Several of the lines of discussion put forward border on original synthesis" . So I had considered that once past that hurdle, consensus could be achieved without further problems. But now you tells me that overcoming the defect of original syntesis (on the border), does not mean I can get consensus, it could even be said that your writing conveys some skepticism about this possibility, which necessarily implies the existence of obstacles have not been communicated to me and you seem to know. I request you clarification on this, when you can.
I tell you this because now I am following the steps recommended by the third opnion to achieve consensus, which seems a bit difficult because the defects attributed to my contributions are changing: in the beginning was "push POV", then "OR" , lately the third opinon speaks of "Original Synthesis" (on the border), and now, according to what is being said in the talk page, the problem is simply that my contribution is not relevant. This argument is difficult to counter, as this will depend on the primal objective with which the article was conceived, and this is not clear. It is still very difficult to reach a consensus. I have changed my proposals and never enough. I think it is not fair that the responsibility of achieve consensus should be entrusted only to me, it is assumed that editing Wikipedia be taken with an open mind. See the talk page when you can, if you want it, evidently. Many Thanks.--Juanmatorres75 18:20, 17 September 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Juanmatorres75 (talk • contribs)

Reply for A4add
Dear Gogo,
"helps you to build" - Whats wrong with that word? A4add is a service for technically poor peoples. You were having sort of articles in wiki like yola, webs, weeble...etc. And I added reference sites just to show others about the usage and as a evidence for wiki people(I can see the same reference sites in Yola, Webs pages). Those are Governments and organizations site who believed in A4add technology. I can remove it if that is not relavent. Could you please help me to edit the same to promote it to article page. What are the changes I have to make for this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.200.142.68 (talk) 05:20, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
- "helps you to build" is a second person narrative often found in advertisements. The style of the Yola, Webs, and Weebly is different than what you created without any promotional material. Your inclusion of links to sites that used A4add was also promotional. You will notice that none of the aforementioned articles have links to sites that used their services. I suggest that you read Wikipedia's Business' FAQ and guide to writing your first article. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:56, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

12.153.112.21
Hey Gogo, could you take a look at the unfolding drama (oy.) at User talk:A. B.#12.153.112.21 for me please? Short story on this: Anon user 12.153.112.21 has been continuously vandalizing List of AT&T U-verse channels with incorrect and inaccurate information the anon admits is incorrect and inaccurate. I have warned the user, A. B. sent a final warning, but the post to the RPP page worries me. With A. B. seemly offline until the end of the year, I would like to get this resolved before then. :) So, could you take a look? - Neutralhomer • Talk • 06:51, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
- I read the article talk page and A. B.'s warning. The IP hasn't made any edits since the warning, so I don't think any action is necessary at the moment. As for A. B., their offline until the end of the year notice has been there for a very long time. Back in July, A. B. updated the year to 2012 and it appears to me that A. B. is around fairly frequently. I'm going to decline the RFPP for now as I think the IP should be given the opportunity to heed the warning. I will note to them that creating an account to circumvent any future protection will result in a block. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 07:20, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
- It was my first encounter with A. B., so I was unsure about the "end of 2012" notice. My good there. :) As for the RFPP, you are right, we should give him/her the opportunity to listen to A. Inquiry
Hi, your name was mentioned at Wikipedia_talk:RFA#Statistics_.28and_lies.3F.29, so I decided to stop by and see if you might be willing to answer a couple questions?
1. What motivates you to do a lot of deletions? Is it your primary manner of participation on Wikipedia or a smaller part of your overall work?
2. What sorts of things or interactions make your deletion work less pleasant? What sorts of changes or occurrences would make you less likely to perform the number of deletions you presently perform?
3. Do you have any suggestions on how the deletion process or conduct policies surrounding deletions could be improved to encourage greater admin participation?
Feel free to respond here or at WT:RFA, if you decide to respond. Thanks. MBisanz talk 15:55, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
- Deletions are just some quiet little corner where I can do some work and help out with relatively little conflict. I only do CSDs and housekeeping deletions. I don't do AfD, PROD, or image related deletions. Deletions are not the only admin related work I do. I still block vandals and apply page protections from RC work. I used to watch AIV, but I've gone away from that lately (don't know why), but still still occasionally handle things there. Awhile back, ThatPeskyCommoner made a great observation on yet another WT:RFA discussion. I see myself as one of those pothole filling, litter picking up, bandit chasing, road clearing admins. Maybe I need to get myself a florescent vest...
- The only unpleasantness that I run into is the people who really don't understand why I deleted their article or attack me for it. The vandals cause me more unpleasantness than editors whose articles I deleted. But like I said, deletion is relatively conflict free. As for what would make me delete fewer things, only two things come to mind: more bureaucracy (like say if the CSD criteria got changed or some extra layer of instructions) or more admins doing the same work.
- Depends upon which deletion process you mean. If you mean my specific areas of interest, then there would be nothing process or policy related that would help. You just have to have a certain interest in doing sometimes dull, tedious work. However, with the trend of RfA !voters looking for editors involved in almost every aspect of admin-related work, it seems to me that the likelihood of somebody interested in doing "grunt work" (for lack of a better term) is relatively low. I know that if I were to run an RfA today being the editor I was back when I passed my RfA, I would not have been confirmed with a big "Not enough content work". That just isn't what I like to do. I'd rather be filling potholes than paving new roads.
- Hopefully that answers your questions. If not, feel free to ask more. I've read the WT:RFA thread, but I'm not likely to add anything there. Eventually all of those kinds of threads seem to end up the same result. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 00:07, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- I really appreciate your thoughtful answers. I'm not sure what I'll do with them, I've been around awhile and am not going anywhere, but I am trying to think up what my next goal will be and these thoughts are useful input. MBisanz talk 16:28, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- Not a problem. I don't know whatever happened to Jonathan A. Obar's research on admins, but you might want to ask him for an executive summary of his research. I see that you had volunteered to be interviewed, but I don't know if you were interviewed or not. You asked some very similar questions to what was asked in the interview. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 16:40, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
