Hello, GlassCobra, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}} before the question on your talk page. Again, welcome! A tag has been placed on Cuthbert Blanedale Frunk, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.
If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this. DraxusD09:10, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I know. I was trying to move Cuthbert Frunk W. Bloodpaw to that name, but I didn't know that the page had to be blank beforehand. My bad. I'll just change around the other links instead, hopefully that page will get deleted before anyone sees it.
Not a problem, I'm sure it will. I'm relatively new to Wikipedia so I can sympathize :) Happy editing.
Image tagging for Image:Clashofkings.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Clashofkings.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
Sorry about the spat at the beginning, I was in a rather bad mood. I had a good time when all was said and done, though. Thanks for lending your knowledge. GlassCobra05:04, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
No problem. It all ended up good and the derby is over. Lets see who decides to contribute to the All-Star Game edit frenzy. HouAstros198905:07, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
Hey, I was wondering if you would mind taking a look at my user page and rating it like you would for the Best User Page Contest. I'm interested in getting input from more of the judges. Just leave the comments on my talk page, if that's okay. Thank you! GlassCobra20:05, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:The Assault on Reason.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 17Drew05:19, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Ah, I'm sorry, but I fail to see where I lack a rationale. I state explicitly on the page that I obtained the image from a blog, a site in the public arena. Does that not suffice? GlassCobra11:42, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Also, I'm going to ask you to kindly refrain from editing my user page. The pictures themselves have not been deleted yet, and I can assure you that if they do happen to be deleted, I shall remove the dead links myself. GlassCobra11:53, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Fair enough. What about the rationale on The Assault on Reason.jpg? I still am not sure how what I've provided is not sufficient. GlassCobra18:51, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Do not add the images back in. Even if the images are not deleted, Wikipedia:Non-free content explicitly states that they cannot be used that way. "Non-free content is used only in the article namespace; it is never used on templates (including stub templates and navigation boxes) or on user pages." 17Drew14:59, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Personally, I believe that Eat Slugs is the incantation, but to prevent further frustration, might I suggest adding a note to the section and creating a debate on the talk page? As I mentioned, I am against this, so I won't do it myself, but it will make things much easier on you and help us all get our positions heard if you do these. Therequiembellishere03:49, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Also, there is something weird about this page, that the only wway I could make this section and re-edit it to make "mention" past-tense was to click "edit this page" at the top. Therequiembellishere03:50, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Actually, someone has made a section about it on the talk page, but no one seems to be heeding it. Good idea on the notes though, I put those in. Thanks. GlassCobra04:47, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Sorry to bother you, but would you mind taking a look at this article for me? It seems to be pretty blatant advertising, as well as poorly written. I'm merely unsure of the appropriate action to take, so I thought I'd ask you. Thanks!
On another note, I've been wanting to redesign my userpage for a while now, but I know diddly squat about HTML and coding and such. If you don't mind helping me out, leave me a message and I'll write back letting you know how I'd like it set up. Thank you very much! GlassCobra23:03, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi, dear GlassCobra! :) Thanks for keeping vigilant, and for letting me know about that entry you tagged. It was deleted minutes after by IrishGuy as a non-notable page, just as you said. Keep it up! :) Regarding your request for help, of course, count on it - be aware tho, that I'm a little behind schedule as far as request for designs are concerned. If you don't mind waiting, I'l be glad to help you in matter of a few days, k? Have a wonderful weekend! :) Phaedriel - 23:46, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Of course! Take all the time you need, I'm definitely not in any kind of hurry. Let me know when you have some spare time, okay? Thank you very much again! GlassCobra23:59, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
I must say that I have to agree with Jonny2x4 regarding Banderstiz's contributions. Surely you've noticed that none of his articles have any outside sources whatsoever? On top of that, they all seem to link to each other, none of them ever really going anywhere. The mangas in the articles he creates are drawn by the people in the articles he creates. I'm definitely inclined to think this is an elaborate hoax. GlassCobra18:53, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
GC, I appreciate your concerns, and because anime/manga isn't my forté, I have to admit that the possibility of a hoax is real. That, however, isn't enough reason to abandon good faith and due process. Jonny may indeed be right about the articles being nonsense, but neither WP:AIV or speedy deletion is the proper way to address those concerns. The correct route to go here would be to add the {{unsourced}} or {{hoax}} tag to the articles in question instead of immediately insinuating that Banderstiz is committing vandalism. Caknuck23:02, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Oops
Sorry about that PROD on Bugz. I hadn't heard of him, and for some reason google didn't give me anything the first time I did a search. Good work cleaning up the article. - Zeibura(Talk)01:13, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
I'm sorry I just saw the title to be empty so i decided to enter some information on the cummunity. I will not do it again. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lebtiger (talk • contribs).
Thanks for being understanding. The warning template is probably a little too harsh; at Wikipedia, we have strict guidelines about what sorts of websites can and cannot have articles. When your site fits the notability guidelines, you're welcome to come back and create an article. In the meantime, why don't you move all this information to your user page? GlassCobra06:42, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
is there changes that could me made?
I'm sorry for the pain I'm sure you must be feeling about your relative, Robbie. However, despite it being Robbie's wish, his story does not belong on Wikipedia. Please do not attempt to prevent the page from being deleted, and please do not recreate the page once it has been erased. On the whole of the Wikipedia community's behalf, I offer our condolences. GlassCobra06:25, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Could you tell me if there is any way it could be changed so it may remain e.g. making it more factual about robbie's cancer maybe and having the other information as an example of his witt? Please this has been very hard on my family and this is the only real joy they will recieve over the issue. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Chris miller101 (talk • contribs).
I'm sorry, but I don't think so. Articles of this type really don't belong here. Perhaps there is another site you can leave a memorial on? Or why not create your own site? Again, I offer the community's apologies. GlassCobra06:45, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
3RR
Be aware of the The Three Revert Rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts, in whole or in part, on a single page within a 24-hour period. A revert means undoing the actions of another editor, whether involving the same or different material each time. If you are reverting vandalism (which doesn't count), then please say so in your edit summary. Thanks! •Malinaccier•T/C00:49, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, my reverts are almost exclusively for vandalism. I'll be more careful with my edit summaries in the future. GlassCobra00:53, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
I joined in July of 2005 but I didn't really become very active until April of 2006. I became an admin February 2007. IrishGuytalk21:03, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
So just under a year? Wow, even with as many edits as you have? Did you nominate yourself or were you nominated by someone else? GlassCobra21:12, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
I had a little over 14000 edits. Majorly contacted me and asked if I would be interested in becoming an admin. Are you thinking of trying for it? IrishGuytalk21:14, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes, but probably not until I get to 1000 edits, I've seen some RFAs get rejected just because they don't have enough experience. Not that I think I do just yet anyhow, I've still got quite a bit to learn. Do you think I ought to? GlassCobra21:16, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
The edit number itself isn't really as importance as where those edits are. Vandal fighting is good (obviously) but article additions and cleanup are essential as well. Many will look at how many AfDs you have participated in as well as general policy discussions to ensure that you would use the tools correctly. IrishGuytalk21:22, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
I understand. It's tough, though; I'd certainly love to participate in AfDs and policy discussions, but there's always so much work to be done reverting vandalism! I feel like I could be on Recentchanges and Newpages 24/7, you know? GlassCobra21:43, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
I understand. I have seen various RfAs succeed for different reasons and others fail for different reasons. I don't think there is an iron clad list of things you need to have acheived. It is all relative. Simply put, you would need to be able to illustrate that you have a firm grasp of policy and are able to impliment those policies. IrishGuytalk21:54, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for blocking that IP, but you should know that not a half hour after you blocked that one, an IP almost exactly the same (209.226.38.81) vandalized the same article in the exact same way as all the other three. Are you sure we can't declare these sockpuppets? GlassCobra18:57, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
I blocked that user for a day, but the other two IPs (I suspect meatpuppetry more than socks) I left alone as they had either stopped or not been sufficiently warned. Let AIV know if they start up again. Daniel Case17:15, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Hmm. I blocked that IP too. But it looks like we may need a range block, which requires some artfulness I don't currently possess. Bring it up at WP:AN/I. Daniel Case19:00, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Excuse me, i believe you noted some of my articles for deletion, i would ask that you stop doing this as i will add more information to them when i have more time, thank you sir. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chcfea07 (talk • contribs)
Okay, listen, I've had enough edit warring with you. If you're really that dead set about injecting a reference to your article to anything that might possibly have to do with it, go ahead. But don't mangle all the other articles while you're at it. At least try to ease the info in there instead of just tacking it on without regard to form or function. GlassCobra09:41, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi there,
I tried earlier to put up a short piece of information about the website booking.com, and it was swiftly deleted.
I was wondering why exactly this was, as it was a descriptive piece of writing, in no way advertising or promoting anything, and also wikipedia seems to have allowed other sites with very similar descriptions (such as Priceline and Expedia) to have pages on wikipedia.
Thanks for your time,
Sam —Preceding unsigned comment added by Samorro (talk • contribs)
The way that the article was written seemed to directly imply spam and blatant advertising as defined by Wikipedia's speedy deletion standards. We have articles on Expedia and Priceline because they are by far the largest sites of their type, so they have notability (another thing your article lacked), and are written with a neutral point of view. If you respond to this, please do so underneath the text you've already written, not at the bottom of the page. Thanks. GlassCobra17:17, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi again, thanks for your response. is there anywhere i can put up a test article, or check the text, so that i can avoid this happening again? Thanks again, —Preceding unsigned comment added by Samorro (talk • contribs)
Yes, for test articles, use the Wikipedia sandbox, or create your own sandbox by clicking User:Samorro/Sandbox and then creating the page. Sandboxes are great for checking code and seeing how articles will look before you actually put them up. Here's the important part: whenever you're editing, if you want to see how something's going to look, you can hit the "Show preview" button right next to the "Save page" button. It'll show you how the page will look without actually saving your changes. Tell me if you have any more questions, okay? The last thing is, when you write on any talk pages, including another user's, put four tildes (~~~~) after your comment to include your name and the date. Happy editing! GlassCobra17:40, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Concerning Nileshroy
Thanks for deleting those pages. Looks like this is the second time the guy's tried to do this, should he get some sort of penalty? Also, looking at his contributions, it looks like he's creating several other user pages: for Sontu (apparently a pet name for himself) and Nilesh Roy, besides the one for himself. Does this count as sockpuppeting? GlassCobra10:42, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads-up (it is all in a days work for an admin), and yes, he has created a sockpuppet, but did not use it, so no harm done...(see WP:SOCK), and no, there is no punishment for him to create articles about himslef; it is pure vanity with perhaps a little spammy intent. He is not the first not the last to do so. Cheers and happy editing. Lectonar14:24, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Ugh. I've had to deal with this guy all night long, as you can see from the page histories he's been editing. Wheel editing to the extreme here. Thanks for reporting him, I had listed him last night and then took it off because he stopped editing for a while, but he definitely needs to banned. GlassCobra17:33, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
To be totally honest, he just needs to calm down and listen to reason. He's trying to do good, but won't listen when we explain it's against policy. Hopefully, a short block will help calm him down, and understand a bit better. Or not. We'll see. Gscshoyru17:37, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Ahh, you're absolutely right. Upon further investigation, it seems like the author of the second section included some unnecessary code. Bug fixed. Thanks for all your help. GlassCobra18:20, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes, if you had looked at the 'what links here', it would have showed List of Psych episodes. Like I said, someone usually writes a plot, and some allusions. I was just adding to the allusions section before it got started. I can wait until it gets created. Please reply to my talk page, as well as yours. Socby1919:09, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
AIV report
Hello. About your AIV report on 黄子龙 (talk·contribs): I've removed the report because this user is already blocked de facto for using a TOR proxy. In any case, he has been duly warned about the creation of pages in another language and has since stopped. Cheers, Pascal.Tesson07:07, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
I would like to know why you reverted the change I made. I had just removed the Wizard of the Month section because I beleive it to be very plainly against WP:NB and/or WP:NOTE. These 'characters' are not even in the book series and have no dialouge in the books. If these charcters were taken out of JK Rowlings books (If actually in any of the books...) there would be no significant change to the books. If you look at a universal stand point, not just within the Harry Potter universe, you can see that these fictional characters are not near notable enough to have mention in this article in Wikipedia. Thank you, BellaSwan(Talk!)12:46, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Sorry if I offended you. I would argue that the Wizards of the Month section would actually fit in the article under criteria 5 of WP:NB: "The book's author is so historically significant that any of his or her written works may be considered notable, even in the absence of secondary sources." I would also argue the fact that there is in fact a secondary source (Rowling's website) makes it all the more worthy for inclusion. I'm not going to revert your edit again, as that's rather rude, but I would ask that you re-include the section. Thanks. GlassCobra15:31, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Would the Wizards of the Month be considered a real 'written work'. She did write it and would it be counted as being 'published' of some sorts because it's on her website. I mean there are plenty of websites out there where people can make up and write whatever kind of story they want to and post it on the internet, but is it considered a written work? BellaSwan(Talk!)15:43, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Another point I would like to make is that the article they are in (Minor Harry Potter characters) clearly states in the beginning statment that "The following are minor characters in the Harry Potter series written by J. K. Rowling". As most of these wizards on not in her books, can they really be in this article? BellaSwan(Talk!)15:45, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
As you said, she did write it and it would be counted as being published because it's on her website. You are also correct in that there are plenty of websites out there where people can make up and write whatever kind of story they want to and post it, but do they have Rowling's notability? I point you again to criteria 5: ""The book's author is so historically significant that any of his or her written works may be considered notable." Seems pretty clear to me. GlassCobra15:46, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
I would argue that they are indeed minor characters in the series. I know that at least one has in fact been mentioned in the books as the inventor of the Cheering Charm, but the others would be considered "in-universe" as an official supplemental to the books as written by the author. GlassCobra15:48, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
I see you point on the fact that it is notable enough to be on Wikipedia, but should it be in this article? It does kind of contradict the first sentence in the article, but I can't think of how to change it or where else to put it. BellaSwan(Talk!)15:49, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
I certainly can't think of another place to put it, unless you were to make a "Supplemental characters of Harry Potter" article, but I think that the section ought to stay. GlassCobra15:51, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Had a question, was hoping you could help me out: Are pictures of onesself allowed on Wikipedia? I've seen lots of user pages where the users include pictures of themselves. A little digging through old image deletion archives (ex. 1 and 2) reveals mostly pictures deleted for vanity reasons also include disuse; however, according to WP:NOT#USER and WP:NOT#WEBSPACE, it seems to me that vanity is a good enough reason alone to delete pictures. Thoughts? Also, would you mind dropping me a line back on my talk page when you reply? We can have the whole conversation here again, but just let me know when you reply, if you wouldn't
Generally, uploaded pictures get deleted if they aren't being used in any articles...and vanity photos really wouldn't be used in articles. IrishGuytalk21:58, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
Right, but my question is really about user pages. Are people allowed to use them there? Technically, the page isn't theirs. Just curious. GlassCobra22:12, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
WP:USERPAGE states: Some people add information about themselves as well, possibly including contact information (email, instant messaging, etc), a photograph, their real name, their location, information about their areas of expertise and interest, likes and dislikes, homepages, and so forth. so it isn't directly against policy and I have seen quite a few users add photos to their userpages. IrishGuytalk22:25, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
Apologies for not assuming good faith, I see now that you were not aware of the rules on canvassing. The reason I felt I had to make it clear was that I've seen AfDs skewed by canvassing before, on occasion only coming to light afterwards. It wasn't so much the wording you used (as the other editors opinions on the subject were already clear), it's more the fact that it could encourage "keepers" to !vote who might not otherwise have done so. And unless you also notify "deleters" of the AfD, it could be seen as trying to manipulate concensus. Anyway, just thought I'd better explain myself. Cheers, Miremare23:06, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
Hey cool, somebody noticed! Thanks for the welcome! I'll add my name in a sec. Thanks again!--Song21:03, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
No problem! To be honest, I'm the only other person that's done any work in a while, the project is mostly defunct. So it looks like it's up to me and you to make it great again! You up for the challenge? GlassCobra21:11, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
/salute/ Sir yes sir! I'm up for it! What first? Currently I'm making sure each Redwall article has the WikiProject template on it.--Song21:13, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
That's a good start. Take a look at the main project page for more stuff that you can help out with! I'll be adding stuff when I can too. Drop me a line on my talk page if you have any questions, okay? Good luck! GlassCobra21:29, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
I think that the first step is recruiting more members. I spent the past little bit checking out this list, seeing who was an active member and such. Now I'm going to check my list of active Wikipedians who like Redwall against the list of contributers and then send invitations to the remainders. The only issue is that I may be going soon, so I may have to give the list to you, or simply tell them to see you with any questions. That okay?--Song21:52, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Well, I am going to be leaving soon. I hate to dump this list on you, but I have to.
Thank you thank you so much. I really am sorry about that. Re: my talk page: Nah, just to a lake. I can't stay for long: church. See, there's a reason I have that 'busy' template up! lol...and school starts tommorow for me as well. I will continue to do all I can for this project...but who knows when I'lll have enough time. I'll do my best.--Song16:47, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Ahh, okay, well I hope you had a good time! Don't worry about the names, I was happy to do it; I actually had previous dealings with one of the guys already. Anyway, just drop by whenever you like, we'll be here! GlassCobra19:58, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Redwall
Hey! I noticed that you're a fan of the Redwall series. Would you like to come join our Redwall WikiProject? If you're interested, add your name to the Participants list. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions! GlassCobra00:40, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Sounds good to me, but it has been three years since I picked up a book, but I think I have read all of the extant books up to that point twice. In any case I will add the project and main pages to my watchlist and help out where I can. Cheers—Cronholm14400:46, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
CSD
Just so you know, it's considered proper to put a message on the talk page of the user whose article you put a CSD on. See WP:WARN for more details. GlassCobra06:08, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi there, thanks for the message. Which articles were you referring to? They were all deleted so fast after I tagged them, I didn't get a chance to warn the creators. They might need warnings for creating attack pages (one I reported to AIV, since they had a final warning) but unfortunately I can't see what I tagged anymore, do you happen to know? Thanks! Eliz81(talk)(contribs)06:14, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Ah, I see where you added the warning. Thanks for taking the time to check up to make sure the creator was properly informed. Happy editing to you too! :) Eliz81(talk)(contribs)06:20, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Hey, I noticed that you just created this disambiguation page, but none of the people listed actually have articles. Are you planning to create each of the separate articles for these people? If not, how about you change it from a disambiguation page to an article about just one of the David Lattas? If you need help, feel free to drop me a line on my talk page. GlassCobra08:09, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Hello - I was just about to create David Latta (Alberta politician). However, I don't think he's the most prominent of the three, necessarily, so I didn't think he should get the David Latta page. So I went through all the pages that link to David Latta and disambiguated the links to David Latta (Alberta politician), David Latta (ice hockey), and David Latta (rugby player). From there I figured that the best way of ensuring that, when somebody gets around to creating articles on the other two, they create them in the same namespace that I disambiguated the links to was to create the disambiguation page. I'm not married to this solution, though, so I'd be happy to hear what you have to say. Sarcasticidealist08:13, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
That's a decent solution, considering you changed all the links to their more specific counterparts. I'm cool with that. GlassCobra08:30, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Welcome to Novels WikiProject
Hi, and welcome to the Novels WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to fiction books often referred to as "Novels".
A few features that you might find helpful:
Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
Just so you know, it's considered proper to put a message on the talk page of the user whose article you put a CSD on. See WP:WARN for more details. GlassCobra18:15, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi GlassCobra. No worries - I'm not quite sure which article you're referring to anyway as I just did a bunch and might have actually missed out a few :) But I do always try to leave a note. :) --== Waycool27 ==-- 18:19, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
I've declined speedy (already done that twice) and nominated at WP:AFD, in which you are free to participate. Technically G4 requires that the previous post have been following an afd, which is now in the works but hasn't been done before on this (never survived that long I guess). Carlossuarez4600:33, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi there. Your username is listed on the WikiProject Harry Potterparticipants list, but we are unsure as to which editors are still active on the project. Your name has therefore been moved to a "potentially inactive" list. If you still consider yourself an active WikiProject Harry Potter editor, please move your name from the Potentially inactive list to the Active Contributors list. You may also wish to add {{User WP Harry Potter}} to your userpage, if you haven't done so already. Spells in Harry Potter
Just wanted to drop by to say thanks for your great contributions both in the AfD and in the article itself; references like the BBC ones you're adding are exactly what we need to keep this article. Thanks again! GlassCobra19:42, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
Thankyou for your support. I hate WP:FICT as it currently stands - it's far too draconian. If it was interpreted word-for-word, the only articles left of the Wikiproject would be the books, the films, the three lead characters and one article about fandom. It's horrible!! But Spells in Harry Potter is going to survive this AfD even if the reference section is six feet long by the end of it!! Happy-melon19:47, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
To be perfectly honest, I'm not too familiar with the differences in the new FICT guidelines, aside from a larger focus on secondary sources. What's changed about them? GlassCobra19:55, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
Essentially, primary sources (the books, in this case) are not given any authority at all for defining notability. What it means is that the article on Hermione Granger has to prove its notability in the same way as Cormac McLaggen, which is patently absurd. It also, by insisting on very high notability standards, raises the bar extremely high. I would expect that, by WP:FICT's definition, it's harder to get an article for the captain of a Quidditch team than it is for the captain of an Elephant polo team, despite many more people knowing about Quidditch than Elephant Polo! I had to invoke Wikipedia:Ignore All Rules not long ago against someone who was being totally literal about WP:FICT. It did the job tho: 17 keeps against 1 delete during the last three days of the AfD!! Happy-melon20:07, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. This is definitely going to make things hard for people in fiction projects, like ours. Ugh. GlassCobra22:37, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
If you look on the talk page of this article, we have already discussed that this article can be turned into something useful on Wikipedia. And it actually doesn't go against the BLP policy. I ask that you remove the CSD tag you placed on it. (Note: I am not the creator of the article) Thanks. --Pilotboi / talk / contribs07:35, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
Give it at least a few days to see where it goes. It does look like he spent a lot of time on it, so I don't want to just throw it away. I'll keep monitoring it and see how it's doing. --Pilotboi / talk / contribs08:25, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
Hello Glasscobra could you tell me why my post has been marked for speedy deletion?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by PrettyIndGal (talk • contribs)
Could you tell me how to add images to an article?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by PrettyIndGal (talk • contribs) 09:05, August 25, 2007 (UTC)
To be honest, images are not what the article needs yet. First you need to verify its notability. Please read the documents that I linked you to, and make changes accordingly. Also, make sure you add four tildes (~~~~) to your comments when you post on talk pages. GlassCobra09:35, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
No, I didn't make those changes. That was another user, one whom I intend to ask why she removed the CSD tag. You may wish to consider removing the requests to refrain from editing your page, as I don't think you can save it from deletion without outside help. GlassCobra09:56, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
GlassCobra, thanks for offering to set me on the right path. I just had no idea how to move The Spring or blank the old version. If you could explain this to me I would appreciate it. Preston McConkie08:54, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
Sure thing. In this case, if you have two versions of the same article, remove all the content from the version of the article that you want deleted, and replace it with {{db-author}}, which generates a speedy deletion notice signifying that the author wants the page deleted. In the future, if you have an article that you want to retitle, click the "move" tab up on the top and enter the name that you would like the article to be moved to. Just make sure the destination is empty before you try to move it. Click here for more detailed instructions on moving pages. If you need any more help or if I wasn't clear enough, go ahead and hit up my talk page, okay? Happy editing! GlassCobra09:16, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks very much for your help, and again for your offer of more help. When I have questions, I'll surely take you up on the offer.--Preston McConkie16:57, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

I think I've got them all now - there were 11 of them. The only thing to decide now is whether to issue a block for disruption... Thanks, ELIMINATORJR10:40, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
I wasn't trying to insinuate anything about your competence; I was merely tagging the article so that our dedicated copyediting and referencing teams will attempt to make the article fit to stay here, that's all. No offense intended. GlassCobra11:36, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
I have commented at their talkpage that I will be deleting it unless moved quickly, and requested that the article be removed from the Admin Cat (I don't edit categories). I will watch the article, but I believe it a vanity piece and doubt the editor is interested in contributing further. LessHeard vanU12:04, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
I think it's more a matter of ignorance on how to move pages or where certain information does and does not belong than any willful detraction from the encyclopedia itself. Still, thanks for keeping an eye on it. GlassCobra12:06, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
Sorry. Didn't see the message until the article had been moved. I'm hoping that this user isn't related to User:Johnjoecavanagh, who went on a "deletion policy is evil!" tirade after having one article deleted. Went on and on about notability. --WoohookittyWoohoo!02:10, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
Spells of Harry Potter
I've been monitoring the discussion, and put the template up in case some people were trying to interfer in the consensus. Maybe I over-reacted - sorry. Davnel0318:00, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
