Wikipedia editor Animalparty just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:

Please use full citations (e.g. article or book title, author, year, etc), not simply URLs. Also, taxoboxes need not list every possible rank, only major or relevant ones: That G. yahkhuna is in Lepidosauromorpha is true but largely redundant.

Sinhalese translation

I notice that you appear to be fairly active in creating various Sri Lankan articles and that you area native Sinhalese speaker. I was hoping that you might be able to add the Sinhalese names for a couple of the articles that I have recently created or edited, namely Mirissa, Ella, Ravana Falls and Kayman's Gate. If you can help out that would be greatly appreciated. Dan arndt (talk) 04:43, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

Thanks - could you add the Sinhalese for Weligama & Taprobane Island as well. Dan arndt (talk) 04:57, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

File:Shihan Mihiranga.jpg is clearly not your image ( see here). Please count this as a final warning. If you breach copyright again you may find your account blocked from either uploading or editing - Peripitus (Talk) 12:56, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

Where you got the image from is irrelevant. The image is not your image and you cannot upload it here claiming that your are the author. Copyright means the right to control how copies are made - you do not have this right for this image, and many others you have uploaded. - Peripitus (Talk) 09:54, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Plant synonyms

Hi, I see that you have been editing pages about tropical trees, including accessing theplantlist.org. I thought you might be interested in a program that produces code for wikipedia to format a synonym list from theplantlist. It is documented at User:Sminthopsis84/TPLSynonyms, and I announced it at WT:PLANTS#Tools for adding lists to plant pages. I've just used it on some pages you had edited, Cinnamomum dubium, Litsea glaberrima, Litsea iteodaphne, and Litsea longifolia. If you'd like to use it and need any help, please let me know on my talk page. Best wishes, Sminthopsis84 (talk) 17:25, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Hello Gihan Jayaweera. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Bolivian anaconda".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Bolivian anaconda}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 13:15, 31 August 2014 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Thisara Chanka - season 4 winner.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Thisara Chanka - season 4 winner.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rotten regard 22:54, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

The article Dasun Madushan has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. GamerPro64 04:27, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Pseudophilautus bambaradeniyai, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.dilmahconservation.org/new-discoveries/pseudophilautus-bambaradeniyai/.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

Frog articles

Hello, thanks for your recent edits and the new frog articles! I have a few tips to help you:

  • In the lead, article title should be set in bold. If the article title is the scientific name, then this should in bold and italics. Common names are usually set in bold, even if not used as the article title.
  • Do not promote a specific common name by putting in the beginning of the lead, unless you are certain that it is really the dominant common name.
  • Authority is only put inside parentheses if the species name is a new combination, i.e. it has been moved to another genus than it was first described in. E.g., Pseudophilautus tanu (Meegaskumbura, Manamendra-Arachchi & Pethiyagoda, 2009) but Philautus tanu Meegaskumbura, Manamendra-Arachchi & Pethiyagoda, 2009.
  • Amphibian Species of the World: an Online Reference is the primary source of taxonomy for our amphibians articles, and I recommend linking to it. IUCN usually follows the Amphibian Species of the World, but there are some differences.
  • Please use edit summaries

Cheers, Micromesistius (talk) 13:39, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Amblypharyngodon grandisquamis, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Amblypharyngodon melettinus. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 14:02, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for all the great work creating articles. Despite the lack of recognition and having your talk page being cluttered mainly with bot messages, you still edit tirelessly and meticulously. Creating so many articles is certainly no small feat and you deserve way more praise and recognition for your efforts than you currently do now. I can only say that your work behind the scenes, especially without the need for recognition, is the best attitude an editor can have. Great job. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of One Day International cricket records, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page David Miller. Adding WikiProject tags to the talk page of the articles you create

Hi Gihan, I just have one suggestion for you: please paste {{WikiProject Insects |class=Stub |importance=Low |needs-image=y}} at the talk page of any insect stub you create. (class=stub means that the article is a short one-two sentence article, importance=Low means that the insect is fairly obscure) Please remove |needs-image=y from the template if there is already an image on the article. Thanks! Darylgolden(talk) Ping when replying 08:40, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

Please add it to the talk page (click the "talk" tab at the top left corner), not the article page :) Darylgolden(talk) Ping when replying 08:47, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
And remove the "needs image" part if it has an image :) Darylgolden(talk) Ping when replying 08:49, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

This message is being sent to inform you that a request for a contributor copyright investigation has been filed at Contributor copyright investigations concerning your contributions to Wikipedia in relation to Wikipedia's copyrights policy. About Copyrighting

I know I had some copyright problems in very early days when I was very new to my editing career. But now, I have refrained from all those stuff and only my personal photographs and my writings has given to the articles. I can assure that. Thank You..

Gihan Jayaweera, I'm glad to hear that, and glad to hear that you also understand that there were problems in the past (please note: Beddomixalus bijui was made only a month ago). The purpose of a contributor copyright investigation is to check through all your past contributions to make sure that none of them still contain copyright violations. But at the moment it is just a request I have made; it will be accepted or declined by someone else. You could help a lot by identifying (here would be fine) any articles where you know that you copied from other sources, and by saying what those sources were. Thank you, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:45, 2 March 2015 (UTC)

New articles with no references

Hi, I notice you've been writing a few new articles today. They're great, but it would be helpful if you could include, as a reference, the source(s) you're using to write these articles. It would make reviewing them easier and saves maintenance work later. Thanks. Nick (talk) 13:31, 12 March 2015 (UTC)

Hello Gihan, Thanks for your message on my talk page. Yes, I saw that you made some edits in the list - and thanks a lot for your help. I am presently working on a checklist of moths of Sri Lanka - uff, there's so many, and most have to be sorted out by taxon (many have changed genera or even family since there description).

It will certainly take another year before I'll complete it ! I'll be at British Museum (and also Paris museum) next year and I hope that I can take pictures of some types. Hopefully a few hundreds (out off the few thousands...) but I'll have only 2 days. Best regards Maik User:Tonton Bernardo I'm so tired (talk) 09:11, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

cci opened

Hello, Gihan.

With apologies for the great delay, I have opened the contributor copyright investigation requested for your edits at Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/20150507. Due to the backlog, it may take some time to complete this review. We request that people not notify you of individual issues found, as it is presumed that you now understand the problems you encountered and we do not wish to inundate you with warnings about an issue you understand. Please keep an eye on that page to learn what problems are found and how they are handled.

You can help with this process enormously. I believe that you are contributing in good faith and simply did not understand what our approach to using previously published information is. Now that you are aware, if you can identify content you copy-pasted from other websites or from books, you can facilitate the cleanup and demonstrate your good faith. In that case, please note problems at the CCI itself without removing the diffs from the listing (somebody else will need to do the final review) and feel free to remove copied or closely paraphrased content.

If you have any lingering questions about that, please review Wikipedia:Copy-paste or reach out for assistance to me or at a help forum; additional issues after a CCI usually lead to an immediate block of an account. I did a spot-check of your edits after the CCI was requested and saw only one problem, which is an easily understandable one. You included the English version of a school's spirit song in an article. Lyrics cannot be included in articles unless the song has lapsed into public domain (and even then, translations may have separate copyright). To determine copyright on lyrics, we need to know when they were published and by whom they were written. We can only presume that content is public domain if it was published before 1923, and that can't be the case with a school that was opened in the 1940s. I have removed the lyrics from Pushpadana Girls' College, Kandy accordingly.

Please do let me know if you have any questions about this process. It is not a disciplinary process, but a cleanup process, intended to eliminate any issues that may already exist. Again, your assistance with that would be welcome and would be a strong demonstration of your good faith. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:17, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Reference errors on 9 June

Hello, I'm ReferenceBot. I have automatically detected that an edit performed by you may have introduced errors in referencing. It is as follows:

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, ReferenceBot (talk) 00:36, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Vitex (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
  • disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Seagull123 (talk) 14:35, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

@Gihan Jayaweera: Sorry, when I looked at the page, the disambiguation linked to a redlink, but as soon as it reloaded after tagging page, it linked to an actual page.

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to add synonyms and do some other edits at teak. I've seen your edits come up on my watchlist occasionally and wanted to say thanks. I think there are a few things that may be helpful in the future, though -- I edited after you to clean up a bit. Notice that there is a synonyms_ref = parameter that you can use for the synonyms reference. I also removed a reference you included for a common name for the plant in Sri Lanka; it was a link to a blog, which isn't a reliable source. It's best to stick to academic works, books, and other secondary or tertiary sources. I also moved the botanical history section back below the description section; taxonomy and history likely isn't more important than the basic description of the species. You can see a suggested layout for articles on plants at WP:PLANTS/Template. I'd be happy to help if you have any questions. Cheers, Rkitko (talk) 15:03, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
