Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is one of Wikipedia's core policies.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page and follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- No edit warring or abuse of multiple accounts.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject; doing so will result in your account or IP being blocked from editing.
- Do not use talk pages as discussion or forum pages as Wikipedia is not a forum.
The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! [edit]Hello, I'm ManaliJain. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Avinash Tiwary have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. ManaliJain (talk) 14:01, 25 January 2023 (UTC)
Please do not add or change content, as you did at Sadiq Khan, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Mattythewhite (talk) 15:38, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
- What unsourced content did I post in the case of Sadiq Khan? can you specify?
- The source in the quote itself says that he as born in a Pakistani family in London and that his grandparents moved from Lucknow to Karachi during the partition of India. What's unsourced? Gen8Master (talk) 06:59, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Mattythewhite Can you tell me what unsourced content I've added? Gen8Master (talk) 07:00, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, as you did with this edit to Balti people, you may be blocked from editing. Adakiko (talk) 07:04, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- First, I'm sorry if I broke a rule. Second, can you explain what I did wrong? I only shortened the short description to Baltistan, to which Baltis are actually native to and changed administered territory to Union Territory in body as Ladakh is a UT of India. Gen8Master (talk) 07:07, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- Wikipedia uses "India-administered territory". This is a contentious area and using a neutral wording for that area in dispute. Please see below. Cheers Adakiko (talk) 07:16, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
Hello, I'm Kautilya3. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Names for India, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Kautilya3 (talk) 18:34, 28 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Kautilya3 The Ganges Delta lies in West Bengal and bangladesh, i.e., the Bengal region in East India. It's not in North India as North India doesn't stretch beyond Delhi. I believe my edit was right and if you agree to it, I'll revert it back to that. Thank You. Gen8Master (talk) 16:42, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is based on reliable sources. Unless you start reading sources and following them, you will get into trouble. See the page North India for a start, and don't insert your own personal knowledge/views into Wikipdia. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 16:58, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
Please stop your disruptive editing.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Sikhism, you may be blocked from editing. Vif12vf/Tiberius (talk) 14:21, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Wani (surname), without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Thank you. Kautilya3 (talk) 16:31, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently been editing India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan which has been designated a contentious topic. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

[edit]Please stop. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Mehta, you may be blocked from editing. utcursch | talk 17:18, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Tika Lal Taploo. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. It has been explained to you that adding nationality to biographies on Wikipedia is governed by certain rules (see MOS:NATIONALITY), besides nationality of people born in a princely state of British Raj and then living in an internationally disputed region requires good sourcing. You need to stop edit warring now and discuss your proposed changed on Talk. — kashmīrī TALK 15:09, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
- You're the one warring my edits then proceed to leave this message on my page. Your bias is so obvious.
- You changed Sumit Kaul's page to "his family left Kashmir" making it sound like they had a choice, when the source clearly says they were thrown out of, downplaying the Kashmiri Pandit exodus.
- Tika Lal Taploo lived in india after the independence, he didn't die before the end of the British Raj. Yet you're picking on his birth date. Gen8Master (talk) 17:03, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
- Kashmiri Pandits had a choice, many decided to stay (and live in the Valley to-date). Further, Pandits were not of a different ethnicity to the remaining population, and so the term ethnic cleansing simply does not apply to this situation.
- Re. place of birth, this is the long-standing policy. — kashmīrī TALK 17:17, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
