WikiProject Films roll call and coordinator elections
Roll call and Coordinator nominations
It's that time of year again – we're wiping everyone's name off of the active members list and doing a project roll call. Your username is listed on the WikiProject Filmsparticipants list, but we are unsure as to which editors are still active on the project. If you still consider yourself an active WP:FILM editor, please add your name back to the Active Members list. You can also add your name to any of our many task forces!
It's also time to start the WikiProject Films coordinator selection process! We are aiming to elect seven coordinators to serve for the next six months; if you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 (UTC) on September 14!

Motto of the day
Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.
When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.
If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold(t/a/c)03:21, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
WP:YORKS is a leading local British WikiProject in terms of the total number of articles supported (up from 3781 last month to 4005 on August 27th). WP:GM has the lead in FAs at 25 out of a total number of 1664 articles. In the area of GAs, at 17, WP:YORKS falls behind WP:GM with 27 and WP:LONDON with 22.
To bring all other top priority articles (currently 15 with 2 at FA) to at least Good article status
To set up a weekly or monthly selected article improvement drive
To produce a regular news letter for circulation to members
Yorkshire Portal
The Yorkshire portal helps people navigate through the content related to Yorkshire. The highlighted content is displayed randomly and includes -
Did you Knows
Articles
Biographies
Pictures
Panoramas
Any additions to these would be great. The portal is being prepared for featured portal candidacy so help meeting the criteria, for example, copy-editing or suggestions for new content sections such as Selected anniversaries, On this day, or In the news would be appreciated.
Priority Articles
The top priority articles that have been identified to date are as follows -
The number has been kept deliberately low to give us a fighting chance of improving them to at least GA status, also so we can concentrate our efforts on these first.
Please remember...
The project is now subscribed to a clean-up listing which lists articles tagged with various clean-up tags that need attention. The listing is refreshed by a bot on a regular basis.
Monitor Use the watchlist to keep an eye on changes to the project's articles so that vandalism and spamming can be removed as quickly as possible.
Infoboxes Many of our articles would benefit from the addition of an appropriate infobox.
The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.
References Please remember that the list of stubs needing expansion is always in need of attention. Please take a look and see if you can help. One small edit, such as adding a reference section and reference, to an article each session would make a big difference.
Moves Please be careful when performing articles moves and ensure that you also move all the talk sub-pages and update any image fair use rational. Otherwise the archives, to-do lists, assessment comments and GA reviews get lost and the image may be deleted as it has an incorrect FUR.

WikiProject Films coordinator elections - voting now open!
Roll call and Coordinator nominations
The September 2008 WikiProject Films coordinator election has begun. We will be selecting seven coordinators to serve for the next six months from a pool of candidates. Additionally, we are keeping nominations open during the voting period, in case any additional editors wish to nominate themselves. Please vote here by September 28!
Sorry we haven spoken for a while, and perhaps that is my fault, but i have a problem wich i cannot seem to figure out on my own. I dont know how familiar you are with how a reflist works, but i would like to set up my internal wiki so the reflist template works the same as wikipedia's, but as of now, whenever i type in {{reflist}} it will just copy whatever was in the template reflist. It ignores the <ref> fact </ref> that is above it. I have looked at wikipedia's template reflist and even tried to copy the source but that does not offer a solution. If you could help me out or point me to someone who could, it would be much appreciated. Huck1eberrie (talk) 16:37, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
Regarding Adoption
Hi Gaia,
I noticed you haven't been active on wikipedia for approximately a fortnight and I haven't heard from you about any absence. Can you please let me know if you wish to continue with the adoption process? Thanks, Kipoc (talk) 09:59, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Hello, I was doing some WP:WikiProject Flag Template cleanup work today, and created the generic Template:Army, in the same style as Template:Navy etc. Therefore, there is no longer a need for {{UK army flag}}, as the same effect can be accomplished with {{army|UK}}. I hope you do not object to my bold deletion of the now-unused template you originally created. Thanks — Andrwsc (talk·contribs) 19:58, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia DVD version 0.7
Wikipedia DVD Version 0.7 aims to be a collection of around 30,000 articles taken from the English version of Wikipedia.
The process of producing the list of articles for the DVD is currently under way and 43 of the project's articles are being
considered for inclusion. The list of selected Yorkshire articles can be seen here.
The selection has been done using a scoring system depending on the project's assessment, the number of incoming links to the article, the number of interwiki
links the article has and the number of times the article has been viewed.
The process of selecting clean versions for each of the selected articles is also being undertaken so that vandalised versions are not put on the DVD.
Some of the articles also have clean-up tags attached to them which need to be dealt with before a version can be used on the DVD. It would be good if members
could address any tags in the selected articles and fix the problem identified. Those articles that are tagged by multiple projects should get a visit by each of the projects involved
so the articles will probably get a lot of activity in the next few days.
The cut-off date for this work is October 20th, but changes to articles following version selection may not be incorporated as there may not be time to reassess them.
