Congrats!
For You weren't the first to sign my book (you signed on the "copy" and I forgot to transfer the first signature), but for reminding me of that 'and' for signing, you get this!!, I hereby award Gaia Octavia Agrippa with the “Cool Award.” Dustispeak! 21:50, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi, you are so close! You have 461 edits to Mainspace, and 500 is the minimum unless you can make a case for needing AWB. You can either wait for another 40+ edits or expand your application on the AWB page. I won't delete your application, but will leave it up to you as to what you wish to do. I'll leave a note there. Cheers. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 22:55, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hi. Since your count now shows you with 501 mainspace edits out of 1570 total, you are approved. Enjoy! --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 19:57, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Did You Know question
I co-wrote an article about DYK for the next Signpost. Let me know on my talk page if there's anything that can be done to make the topic clearer. Royalbroil 02:05, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- How would you like to be involved with DYK? Most people write an article doing a good job with the references and following standards.
- Are you interested in being involved with the behind the scenes work? If so, do you have a handle on writing articles with respect to WP:MOS, WP:CITE, etc.? Would you provide me a recent article that you started to confirm this? Royalbroil 20:41, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
- The non-admin help that we have is for experienced contributors to help determine whether or not an article meets the DYK rules. Those rules are 1) it was created/started on the date that it is listed under (using Wikipedia/UTC/Greenwich Mean time), 2) it meets the size criteria (at least 1,500 characters which are not contained in lists, large quotes, references, etc.) or that it was expanded to become at least 5 times its previous size since that start date 3) that it uses a reliable source with an inline citation to reference that fact 4) that it's interesting and at least somewhat surprising 5) that there are no maintenance tags like cleanup, unreferenced, wikification needed, etc. and 6) that it looks and reads good (professional-type quality [not a good article], well-written, understandable, etc.). On point #3, we have been actually looking at all online references to ensure that it actually says what's in the hook. Since you want to learn more and feel like you're not at that level yet, would you like me to mentor you for doing that task? I can think of a several phase learning process to mentor you. Fair use rationale for Image:Ross Kemp in Afgan.PNG
Thanks for uploading Image:Ross Kemp in Afgan.PNG. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.
Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 17:35, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
RE:User page
Thanks for letting me know. It was merely a piece of the code of the page being glitchy with Internet Explorer. I fixed it so the stars appear next to the featured articles I recorded rather than all the way at the bottom.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 00:08, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for promoting this from stub to start class, which seems right to me. As the main author, I couldn't very well say anything, but I wasn't impressed by the 'stub' assessment! Regards, Xn4 23:19, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

DYK mentoring
First, it is called DYK not DYN. DYK means Did You Know. I know that "know" sounds like it starts with an "N", but it actually starts with a "K". The first thing that I want you to do is to review the rules for DYK. I'll give you a test on them after you get done. I created the user subpage User:Gaia Octavia Agrippa/DYK mentoring for us to work and communicate in. Please add it to your watchlist, and treat it like a talk page. I don't want your and my talk pages to become full of these communications. Royalbroil 12:05, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Peer Review
Generally, when you ask for a peer review, you're expected to regularly watch it and to respond to the comments left. :) Please don't forget to read teh comments in the Ross Kemp in Afghanistan and respond, even if only to say thanks to reviewers for taking time to comment. To not respond at all is often seen as poor etiquette and can result in future PRs being ignored. Collectonian (talk) 17:11, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ross Kemp in Afgan.PNG)
Thanks for uploading Image:Ross Kemp in Afgan.PNG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:48, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

1st Armored Division
Hi, I changed the {{references}} tag in 1st Armored Division (United States) to {{refimprove}} as there are some references already. It would help if you could indicate which sections you are most concerned about (via {{fact}} maybe. I'm more interested in the older history and could help there. Hello
I haven't heard from you in a while. Life has been uber dramatic on and off-wiki, but suddenly things seem calm. Anyway, I was clearing out my classroom and realized I'd never given you an assignment. I typically ask what interests one holds and what areas of Wikipedia they are interested in getting involved in but maybe aren't sure what to do. If you're still interested in such guidance, let me know. Otherwise, as was previously offered, feel free to ask me any questions you may have on my talk page. Regards, LaraLove|Talk 19:06, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Citations
Hey there! I was wandering around random pages on wiki when I saw your classroom. I realize that RedMarkViolinist may be inactive or not online much, so I thought I'd pop in and give you a hand if that's okay. In terms of citing a book, well, it's actually quite simple. We'll start off with how to create an inline citation, like this one[1]
That was created by adding < ref > [Insert writing] < / ref >, although obviously without the spaces. So, to cite say a text, you would add in the authors last name and the page number.[2]
Now then, once that's done, you obviously have to give the full details of the book you're quoting from/otherwise using. This is done with this template:
- Harclerode, Peter (2005). Wings Of War – Airborne Warfare 1918-1945. Weidenfeld & Nicolson. ISBN 0-30436-730-3.
In this template you simply fill in the last and first name of the author, the title, publisher and date. Adding the ISBN number is also recommended. More information can be found at WP:CITE, as can more templates for things like magazines, newspapers and websites. I'd recommend looking over Operation Varsity; as an A-Class article, it has a ton of citations and references you can copy and use, both for books and websites!
Hope that helps! Skinny87 (talk) 19:28, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
- Cheers, that's really appreciated. Now then, I've only been here about two months, but I reckon I've learnt the basics. Anything else you need help with? Are you editing any articles at the moment? Skinny87 (talk) 19:47, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
- I think I just pick things up quickly. It helps to read all the wiki essays and things like WP:CITE and WP:OR and so on. I certainly made mistakes in my early days. Anything specific you want help on, my door is always open as it were. Skinny87 (talk) 20:16, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
- I haven't done any tests really, or projects. I just bumbled around doing my own thing. Skinny87 (talk) 20:18, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
- I realize RedmarkViolinist is busy in RL, so if you need any help just give me a call on my talkpage. I'm not a real wiki teacher given I've only been here two months, but I think I know the basics and can probably answer questions or point you in the direction of someone who can. Skinny87 (talk) 20:10, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
I'll be around. I found a computer, and I added a little about references on your coaching page. I'll probably be on every day. ṜέđṃάяķvюĨїήīṣŢ Drop me a lineReview Me! 18:51, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
