#3 check-in from Evelyn
Hi professor, I added the [2] and [3] citation on Word of mouth page. Please kindly check the modification and let me know if there is any question. Thank you. H0187160 (talk) 02:00, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
- I do not think the first reference is credible citation; what makes you think it is, H0187160? The second one needs an ISBN; can you go back and add one and then ping me again here? --- FULBERT (talk) 21:35, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hi professor FULBERT, I have added the ISBN to [3] citation on Word of mouth page. For [2] citation, I get your point that it is not a credible citation. I cited it because I saw some other page cited it. Should I remove it? Thank you. H0187160 (talk) 00:54, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks H0187160. It should be fine for now as is. --- FULBERT (talk) 19:27, 3 March 2018 (UTC)

Week 6 ** BONUS ** from Qianyue
1. What your experience was like (overall) with this Wikipedia course assignment? Overall, the course assignment was very fulfilling. Although it was an assignment, I found it very exciting and did not bore me at any moment. It was interesting reading the short Wikipedia articles. However, the assignment not only required me to read, but also understand them and note some of their shortcomings. As a result, I have gained a lot of information that will help in real life. It has also improved my research skills. 2. What you learned? By emphasizing on using reference materials that have DOI numbers, I have learned that these are qualitative articles that offer credible information. Whenever I need to reference my work, I should always seek such academic articles. Nevertheless, finding the articles was a challenge. The usual search using Google would yield little to none of the desired results. I had to refine my search terms or use online libraries to find relevant articles. Therefore, it is right to say I have learned to use search engines and online libraries to locate credible academic research articles. 3. Why / why not you intend to continue editing on Wikipedia? I intend to continue editing Wikipedia articles. As a free resource that depends on individuals to post information, I believe I should continue contributing to this noble platform. Since I am a knowledgeable person, I should take it as my duty to ensure readers are fed with the correct information. Some of the authors post information that is at times misleading but that serves no good. Since I have now known how editing is done, I will be adding relevant information and correcting any incorrect information on all Wikipedia articles I read. However, I will avoid editing some if the technical information they present is beyond my understanding. Charlene 1022 (talk) 18:34, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
- Nicely stated Charlene 1022. I hope you keep this up, as Wikipedia belongs to all of us!! --- FULBERT (talk) 22:05, 5 March 2018 (UTC)

Week 6 Assignment from Wang1663
Hi Professor, I add some new information in big data and Health care in the United StatesThis is the change I made https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Big_data&type=revision&diff=829203975&oldid=828932434 https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Health_care_in_the_United_States&type=revision&diff=829206348&oldid=829150749Wang1663 (talk) 07:18, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
- Useful additions Wang1663 here as well. I made a few minor tweaks to them for wordsmithing. --- FULBERT (talk) 11:36, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
** BONUS ** from Wang1663
1. What your experience was like (overall) with this Wikipedia course assignment. I believe this course assignment is well set. These assignments teach me how to modify the wiki, share my knowledge and do peer review about other articles. This course also reminds me to be responsible for what I am sharing. This why we need to be careful when we play with the citation.
2. What you learned. It is important to share your knowledge and modify other people's mistake. In addition, I also could add useful information on the wiki.
3. Why / why not you intend to continue editing on Wikipedia. I would like to share my knowledge in the future. Since I am going to be the expert in some area in the future, it is fun to share what people don't know and help people get what they want to learn. It is just fun to do it. Wang1663 (talk) 07:35, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feedback on this Wang1663. Keep up the efforts to be a critical reader, consumer, and contributor of credible information! --- FULBERT (talk) 11:38, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

- I made a few minor wordsmithing edits here as well; but overall ok LanceLam. --- FULBERT (talk) 13:19, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
** BONUS ** from Lance
1. What your experience was like (overall) with this Wikipedia course assignment.
This is a very special experience. In the past, I've been using Wikipedia as a dictionary for getting information and never thought I could modify and edit by myself. Now I think the knowledge is shared, can be improved and can help more people. I think it is an unforgettable "charity event" and "learning experience."
2. What you learned.
Wikipedia entries will be continuously modified and updated by a lot of people. I learned the spirit of sharing knowledge and the responsibility of my personal Wiki job. When I edited the entry, "non-anonymous" (record IP address) let me be responsible for my remarks, motivate me to make changes more accurately.
3. Why / why not you intend to continue editing on Wikipedia.
Due to my language restrictions, I will continue to edit Wikipedia, by devoting myself to improving the Wiki Chinese webpage, translate and share my knowledge with Chinese people who can not explore more because of their language limitations.
LanceLam (talk) 05:33, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
- Glad you found this a useful experience LanceLam. You can always serve knowledge through translating articles from one to the other and help in creating new articles in Chinese. --- FULBERT (talk) 13:20, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

The other is Zara (retailer), I updated the founded year and founders info in the infobox. Hope these two editions are counted as extra credit. Please let me know if there is any question. - In case the two articles cannot be counted, I edited New York Restaurant Week and Red Carpet as well. For NY Restaurant Week, I updated the info to the winter 2018 event. and for Red Carpet, I added two paragraphs under the history section. Thank you. H0187160 (talk) 16:29, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

Feedback from Evelyn
Hi professor, please find my answers for bonus questions as below:
1. It is a great journey to learn about how Wikipedia works. Now everytime I use Wiki, I keep thinking how much efforts people volunteer to put in and make wiki better. It's really amazing.
2. I learn how to independently learn on Wiki. If the content has no reference to back it up, I will not accept the knowledge easily. On the other side, it becomes a habit for me to get evidence when I want to make a claim. and I think it is a good habit to have.
3. I know Wikipedia is a really good platform to share knowledge, but I don't think I am qualified to do so. Even I found some credible article and want to add the knowledge on Wiki, I am not confident to reframe the origin research better in English so far. But maybe I will edit on Chinese Wiki if I get anything valuable knowledge to share in the future.
Thank you professor for sharing some many useful skills and knowledge within only 6 weeks. I know I didn't finish the week 6 part for extra credit so can't get score on bonus, but still want to give some feedback on this amazing course.H0187160 (talk) 22:25, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for adding this H0187160;very useful. Keep it up even in other languages or translation! --- FULBERT (talk) 13:28, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

Week 6 bonus assignment from Yushuang Li
What your experience was like (overall) with this Wikipedia course assignment. it leads me to a field that I never know it does exist. I use wiki a lot even when I am in China. now, I become part of it. I feel so proud that I can make such contribution to others' articles.
What you learned. I think the most precious thing that I learned in this wiki assignment is about the importance of reliable sources and copyright. before, i don't pay attention to the quality of a article and regard every published article as a reliable resource. through doing the wiki assignment I realized a article without reliable reference can be useless for the readers. Moreover, copyright problems should also be outlined. Using others' music and pictures without their agreement may even cause some legal problems if we use for business intention. this course teaches me a lot for how to deal with the copyright which is very helpful for my work in the future.
Why / why not you intend to continue editing on Wikipedia. I would like to continue. wiki is not only a platform for information but also for communication. I find that having conversation with the author and readers to improve an article together is of great fun.YushuangLL (talk) 22:59, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
- I hope you do continue this, even if that means you continue editing in Chinese Wikipedia or translating articles from one language to another YushuangLL! --- FULBERT (talk) 13:41, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

**BONUS** From Xiaoya Zhang
1. What your experience was like (overall) with this Wikipedia course assignment. It is a special experience. Before the course, I use Wiki only to find information and even I know that I can also edit it, I thought it is something that the professionals should do. But because of this assignment, I found that I am capable of adding resources too, it is not that difficult and I can contribute too.
2. What you learned. First, I learned how to edit the source so that I can share the importation I found with the world. Second, We need to be responsible for what we add to Wiki since a lot of people do acquire knowledge using it. Third, I really read a lot when trying to add something to the article, so I learn more about the topic that I am interested in.
3. Why / why not you intend to continue editing on Wikipedia. I think it depends. If I read something on Wiki that I am familiar with and I find that some more information can be added, I will continue editing. But if not, then I won't. I just won't do it on purpose. — Preceding unsigned comment added by XiaoyaZ (talk • contribs) 15:29, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

What your experience was like (overall) with this Wikipedia course assignment?
It was awesome actually. Becasue for me, wikipedia is a platform that I can find anything I need. But now I can do something for wikipedia and I can share what I found previous, making me feel that I am doing something important for others. Using this paltform, the progress helped me to develope critical thinking skills and told me that not everhing is right on this platform. What your experience was like (overall) with this Wikipedia course assignment
What you learned.
As I said before, my critical thinking skills were developed and I learned the strict process of editing. Before, I would use any information that I can find from internet to support my claim but now, I will distinguish the reliability of those information and only use the information which have been proved or peer reviewed.
Why / why not you intend to continue editing on Wikipedia.
For me, I think I will continue to edit on Wikipedia China because first, Chinese is my first language and I am more familiar with Chinese so that I can edit those information more precisely and accurately, decreasing the conflicts for readers. Besides, after I graduate, I might go back China and it is hard for me to search adequate English areticle to support my opinions on Wikipedia.
All in all, that is an awesome journey to edit on wikipedia and I really enjoyed it. Thank you professor! OliverWang (talk) 19:36, 7 March 2018 (UTC)OliverWang
- Glad you found this useful OliverWang, and thanks for the feedback. Chinese Wikipedia could certainly benefit from your ongoing edits! --- FULBERT (talk) 13:52, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

Welcome
Welcome to Wikipedia! We have compiled some guidance for new healthcare editors:
- Please keep the mission of Wikipedia in mind. We provide the public with accepted knowledge, working in a community.
- We do that by finding high quality secondary sources and summarizing what they say, giving WP:WEIGHT as they do. Please do not try to build content by synthesizing content based on primary sources. (For the difference between primary and secondary sources, see WP:MEDDEF.)
- Please use high-quality, recent, secondary sources for medical content (see WP:MEDRS). High-quality sources include review articles (which are not the same as peer-reviewed), position statements from nationally and internationally recognized bodies (like CDC, WHO, FDA), and major medical textbooks. Lower-quality sources are typically removed. Please beware of predatory publishers – check the publishers of articles (especially open source articles) at Beall's list.
- The ordering of sections typically follows the instructions at WP:MEDMOS. The section above the table of contents is called the WP:LEAD. It summarizes the body. Do not add anything to the lead that is not in the body. Style is covered in MEDMOS as well; we avoid the word "patient" for example.
- More generally see WP:MEDHOW
- Reference tags generally go after punctuation, not before; there is no preceding space.
- We use very few capital letters and very little bolding. Only the first word of a heading is usually capitalized.
- Common terms are not usually wikilinked; nor are years, dates, or names of countries and major cities.
- Do not use URLs from your university library's internal net: the rest of the world cannot see them.
- Please include page numbers when referencing a book or long journal article.
- Please format citations consistently within an article and be sure to cite the PMID for journal articles and ISBN for books; see WP:MEDHOW for how to format citations.
- Never copy and paste from sources; we run detection software on new edits.
- Talk to us! Wikipedia works by collaboration at articles and user talkpages.
Once again, welcome, and thank you for joining us! Please share these guidelines with other new editors.

Hi professor, Here are my answers. 1. What your experience was like (overall) with this Wikipedia course assignment. Overall, it is really good. I felt a sense of satisfaction by using my knowledge to contribute to the Wikipedia society and potentially anyone who will read the pages in the future. I can ensure that my edits are credible and are from reliable sources so hopefully they won't mislead anybody. 2. What you learned. Basically, before this course I was a Wikipedia reader and never a editor. Now I know how to make credible edits and share what I think is valuable to the potential readers in the future. I also learned about how to tell credible citations from those who are not so credible. Since most of the items and pages are likely to have been edited by a lot of editors, we can not trust all the listed information. But now I know which ones are more reliable and which ones are not. 3. Why / why not you intend to continue editing on Wikipedia. I will continue editing Wikipedia.Since i probably will continue reading journals and writing essays, it will be rewarded for me to share those knowledge with other people who wish to learn it in an easier way -- reading Wikipedia.

What your experience was like (overall) with this Wikipedia course assignment? It was fun to do the wiki. I have no idea about how to make edit in wikipedia before this class. I only get knowledge from the wikipedia and I never thought I can make contribution for any of these articles.
What you learned? I know how to edit articles and how to communicate with the authors under the talk page. It is interesting that I can learn more about Wikipedia. Since I have to ensure the reliability of my editing, it forced me to read more articles and learn more knowledge about different topic.
Why / why not you intend to continue editing on Wikipedia? I think I will continue to edit on Wikipedia since I want to not only explore knowledge in Wikipedia but also share what I learned with others. Yisun1 (talk) 18:53, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

Why / why not you intend to continue editing on Wikipedia? Third, I will continue editing on wiki since I think it is one of the best ways to share my knowledge with people all over the world.

1. What your experience was like (overall) with this Wikipedia course assignment? In the previous studies, I used Wikipedia a lot to search for some basic concepts, but I did not know it has so many functions, such as the talk page, sandbox, and the peer review sessions. I learned to edit articles and connect with other people online to evaluate the articles and improve my effectiveness in research. It is a very interesting process to learn and practice using it.
2. What you learned? First, I learned the importance of plagiarism, the ways of editing words and pictures, and the significance of citations. Everyone can make contributions to the article and use research or their own knowledge to help improve the information on the internet. People do not need to worry whether they make the information become wrong, since there are experts can manage the information and control the Wikipedia website. Second, I learned the ways to express my own ideas in the sandbox and connect with others by talk page. The code is very interesting to learn as well. Once people connect with each other, it became a fun and enjoyable process to communicate and share ideas to hear from the others and improve yourself.
3. Why / why not you intend to continue editing on Wikipedia? I may intend to continue editing on Wikipedia when I finish doing some research related to this topic and I am confident about the validity and reliability of the information. However, I will not edit a lot in daily life, since a lot of my previous edits were changed by the manager due to lack of profficiency in information or words.
Overall, this is a very interesting tool to learn! Thank you for your teaching in this semester! --SerinaNiux (talk) 19:49, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
- Glad you found this useful, and hope you continue editing SerinaNiux! --- FULBERT (talk) 22:02, 9 March 2018 (UTC)

It was a really interesting experience in this Wikipedia course. I search a lot on Google, and if there is a wiki page about the things I want to search, I will definitely click it. When I started to work on it, especially adding new content into the article, I felt very exciting because someone may be need these information. I used to enjoy the work did by others, but now I am the one who is contributing on it.
This Wikipedia course taught me the basic knowledge on how to use the edit function. In the first week assignment, the 30 minutes introduction video was extremely helpful for a beginner. Beside the fundamental operations, I also learned the Wikipedia rules and culture. Since wiki is completely transparency and public website, every participant have to follow specific guideline to create a friendly and well-aligned society. I did see conditions that people have different opinions on a specific topic, but they all presented their own ideas politely through the take page. This is a great place for people to cooperate.
I used to be very happy if I can find something useful on Wikipedia, either because it is well concluded or because it has reliable resource that I can search deeper. Thanks to this Wikipedia course, I know how to make my own contributions on it and use my knowledge to make someone else happy. I thought Wikipedia have a group of people working everyday to write each article, and I was a little shocked when I knew Wekipedia is actual developed by people in every place. It is great for people work together and accumulate all level of knowledge. I like the way Wikipedia works, and I would like to continue editing on it. Shine821 (talk) 19:48, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi Professor, I assigned a new article Hans Wegner. He is my favorite furniture designer. When I looked at his most famous designs described on his wiki page, I could rarely found images. 1. The Wikipedia assignment is a little complicated than I thought before. It has many regulations and rules, which are good. It makes me know that many people are contributing to Wikipedia, and it is professional even it is free and everyone edit. I really respect what Wikipedia did so far. All six weeks courses helped me to know how to contribute to the Wikipedia step by step, and the rhythm is good.
2. I was really glad that I go through plagiarism training section on Wikipedia before starting my research paper. It is very clear and helpful. And insert image section makes know how to use an image under copyright. This course will benefit me in all my future course and careers.
3. I definitely will continue to editing on Wikipedia. I've always seen something on Wikipedia that needs to be revised, but I always thought that's not my thing and I don't even know how to revise them. But now I learned how to do it, and I think next time when I see something needs to be edit, I will edit it. Wink1021 (talk) 22:38, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
