Roberto Civille Rodrigues
I just want to remind you that WP:IAR is never an appropriate reason to speedy delete any page, regardless of the merits or otherwise of that page. This is because IAR is explicitly only for actions that uncontroversially improve the project. The criteria listed at WP:CSD are the only times that deletion of pages without discussion are permitted - everything else is an abuse of the admin toolkit. Secondly, any good-faith objection to a speedy deletion criterion applying means that it cannot, by definition, apply so this speedy deletion was doubly inappropriate. If you had cited SNOW you would be on shaky ground after only 3 !votes when one was explicitly to delete slowly, but your case would have been arguable. Thryduulf (talk) 17:23, 19 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Thryduulf: I did not cite any speedy deletion criteria in my deletion rationale, so you're already off the mark. WP:IAR specifically states that it can be applied to maintaining Wikipedia, and maintenance is very broadly defined at WP:MAINT. If you have a concern regarding my action other than the bureaucracy aspect of it, I welcome you initiate discussion to facilitate further input at WP:ANI. ✗plicit 00:08, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
- You speedily deleted a page while citing IAR, I'm not sure what else it can be considered other than an IAR speedy deletion? IAR is intended for uncontroversial maintenance, speedy deletion of pages that do not meet a speedy deletion criterion is neither maintenance nor uncontroversial - this is not bureaucracy it is a fundamental principal of speedy deletion that every administrator should know intimately. Maintenance is indeed broad, but it definitely does not cover actions that have been explicitly objected to. Thryduulf (talk) 00:16, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Thryduulf: Closing a discussion early is not equivalent to speedy deletion. I supposed we'll have to agree to disagree on my application of IAR. As I stated before, feel free to discuss my action on relevant noticeboards. ✗plicit 00:40, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
- If you delete something that has not been prodded and has had a full discussion then you are either speedy deleting it or closing the discussion early per SNOW. Given that both speedy deletion and SNOW were clearly inappropriate the deletion was at best premature whatever way you look at it. As I think this should have been deleted in a few days it isn't worth undeleting etc, but it is something you need to remember for the future. I hope that taking it further is not required. Thryduulf (talk) 00:50, 20 June 2021 (UTC)

Deleted Page - Nanky
Hello User:Explicit, you recently deleted a page titled Nanky I created. The entity is notable as it passes criteria 8 of WP:MUSIC , winner of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards --Richloveburner (talk) 18:30, 19 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Richloveburner: Hi, consensus at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nanky determined that the subject did not meet the notability guidelines to merit inclusion on Wikipedia. As I deleted the page based on WP:CSD#G4, you will need to discuss the matter with the original closing admin Seraphimblade. ✗plicit 00:08, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
@User:Explicit , I agree with you on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nanky but that was before he won the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards . As I already stated he passes criteria 8 of WP:MUSIC and Seraphimblade will agree to that. Kindly restore the page to enable me add more notable information. Kindly refer here to confirm:
--Richloveburner (talk) 13:32, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Richloveburner: Again, I can not use my administrator tools to overturn the result of an AFD decided by a different administrator. You will need to make your case with him. ✗plicit 13:39, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
@Explicit: the page history says you deleted the page. I have a point to prove notability but it seems you are not showing any concern. I am not understanding what's going on. You actually went ahead to block the page from being recreated. Richloveburner (talk) 13:46, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Richloveburner: My speedy deletion was based on the criterion for recreation of a page that was deleted per a deletion discussion. I was enforcing the result which Seraphimblade first enacted. The page was protected in accordance to the page protection policy for repeated recreation. As I said, you should be discussing your findings with Seraphimblade, as I can not unilaterally overturn consensus. ✗plicit 14:03, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Explicit: there was a conversation going on on the talk page before you deleted everything, you should have at least checked. Richloveburner (talk) 14:22, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
Deleted Page - Jaret Goes To The Movies
Hello Explicit -
I am not totally clear on why you deleted our page, Jaret Goes To The Movies. I tried looking for the reasoning you gave but i do not understand it. Please advise — Preceding unsigned comment added by SilentSean316 (talk • contribs) 13:34, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
- @SilentSean316: Hi, Jaret Goes to the Movies was proposed for deletion by another editor with the following rationale: "Does not meet WP:GNG and WP:PROMO. I tried looking for sources on Google News and found nothing.". It went uncontested for seven days and was deleted as a result. While you can request for the article to be restored, the page may still be nominated at WP:AFD for a more "permanent" deletion should consensus find that the podcast does not meet notability guidelines. Please see the notability guideline for web content for further information. ✗plicit 13:42, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
OK I was on holiday and just now saw everything. I guess i do not understand the issue with our notability guidelines. I mean we have been a podcast for coming up on 6 years and our host is Jaret Reddick from Bowling For Soup. Guess we lost it all — Preceding unsigned comment added by SilentSean316 (talk • contribs) 16:26, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
Black Cats (band)
Please restore: Black Cats (band)
I am not sure how to contact you regarding this but here we go - Black Cats is a very important Persian/Iranian band. The information related to this band should be available to English speakers by having the English-language page restored. My guess is that the discussion that happened here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Black_Cats_(band) - was among non-Iranians with no knowledge of the band and it's significance and influence on Persian pop. Please reach out to me for any information needed to convince you that this band is real and deserves an English page on Wikipedia as I am Persian and consider this band to be my favorite. I can update any problematic areas (such as the citations/sources) to your satisfaction with my knowledge of the band - Maniravanbakhsh — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.11.250.178 (talk) 20:12, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, can you please provide evidence that the band is notable by addressing the concerns raised at the AFD? For example, do you have any citations that suggest that Black Cats meets WP:BAND? ✗plicit 06:44, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
In the book “Tehrangeles Dreaming: Intimacy and Imagination in Southern California's Iranian Pop Music”, published by Duke University Press on April 10, 2020, an entire section is dedicated to this band (page 59 through 66) and mentioned 6 more times throughout the book. I'd be happy to provide you with a copy of this book to review in any format you desire (I can mail you a physical book or provide you with a PDF) - Maniravanbakhsh — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.11.250.178 (talk) 12:13, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
Hey there! It's been a week since I responded to your question and I haven't received a response from you. Could you kindly provide a response? - Maniravanbakhsh — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.11.250.178 (talk • contribs) 16:21, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
Hi, as I do not have the authority to single-handedly overturn the result of the AFD discussion, you are encouraged to make your case over at deletion review. There, others will participate and form a consensus that may allow the recreation of the article. ✗plicit 03:34, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
Looking through the instruction for deletion review, it states: "Before listing a review request, please consider attempting to discuss the matter with the closer as this could resolve the matter more quickly." This is what I tried to do here. If you couldn't help from day one when I messaged you, why did you wait almost 12 days to come back and advise that you can't help? I am honestly perplexed by what is being done here. Neither you or the rest of the people from AFD discussion had any background or knowledge of Persian music and yet you deleted the article. Now that I am giving you "inside" information about the legitimacy of this band, you are not being helpful. - Maniravanbakhsh — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.11.250.178 (talk) 16:13, 23 June 2021 (UTC)

Hi Explicit, To delete https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Louise_Smith What valid criterion do I need? Why have you reverted my suggestion to delete? From 95.145.182.145 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.145.182.145 (talk • contribs) 12:41, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Also, please sign your posts using four tildes (~~~~) and use the preview button before saving your post. It has been difficult to respond to your message because of all the revisions made to this page.
- As for the page in question, using the {{delete}} template tags a page for speedy deletion, but Murder of Louise Smith does not meet any of the criteria listed. Relisting discussions and XFDcloser
Hello,
I noticed that when you relisted a RfD discussion here, you (or your script) attempted to change the link to the new location of the discussion. It did not work: it still points to the original location. Is there anything wrong with the tool? Place Clichy (talk) 14:45, 25 June 2021 (UTC)

Undelete Request: David Gewirtz
I am the subject of the article you deleted. According to the pre-deletion commentary, the article was considered for deletion because "I don't see any non-trivial coverage about the subject from reliable sources." I don't live on the page about me, so I didn't see the pending deletion notification. However, I'd very much appreciate it be reinstated. I can provide whatever material you need. However, in answer to the need for coverage about the subject, below are just some items. Please note that because I've had a very long career, many sources are also print only. Deleting a subject because only digital materials are considered can have a chilling effect, eliminating anyone with pre-Internet histories.
In any case, I humbly request you reconsider. Here are the links. They include coverage from Wall Street Journal, CBS News, CNN, Mother Jones, New York Daily News, among others.

In order to be considered notable for inclusion on Wikipedia, biographies about musicians must meet the notability guideline for musicians. Removal of photo on page
Hi Explicit, re: [1], the IP editor claims to be the photographer. I replaced the image with another from Commons for the time being. Is there any way to prove ownership, if necessary? The page is vandalized so much and it is tiring for everyone that has been maintaining it. Thanks--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 22:10, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Bonnielou2013: Hmm, the blog posts in the source do indicate that the the images are licensed as {{cc-by-4.0}} and the earlier posts suggest that the blog own manually had to change the standard license to a Creative Commons one. I wonder if this case is similar to Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Images from toto1024.tistory.com. There may be a need to contact the author directly for clarification. ✗plicit 03:46, 2 July 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for looking. Yes, I agree they should confirm licensing. The photo is being used in other language Burning Sun scandal pages, plus JJY chatrooms and molka pages....which they may be unaware of and object to. A little sleuthing found stan SNS accounts for a possible match to the photograpy name. But the current licensing allows usage for all pages, regardless of whether it compliments the image subject, or not.
Let me know if you want me to initiate the deletion recommendation or contact the blog author. Thanks again.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 05:52, 2 July 2021 (UTC)
Undelete request - HDClone
Hello, according to the deletion log you deleted the article HDClone. The deletion is based on the majority vote of people who seemed to care about that a month ago. I would like that deletion of this article I wrote and translated to be revered as it seems completely arbitrary and unfounded.
Deletion discussion: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/HDClone
Reason: On May, 20th the user Mottezen proposed the deletion of the English article "HDClone" with the following remark: "Non-notable product of a non-notable company. Relies exclusively on primary sources for all the important content. Links to articles about tips and reviews on this software are noted in the reception rection, though nothing really significant. The "literature" is a list of all the books in which the subject is namedropped." Mottezen (talk) 07:49, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
First the user Mottezen restricted his complaint about primary resources to the important content, neither specifying the, in his opinion important content, nor how that's relevant for the importance of the software or the entire article. Second this user states, that links to articles about tips and reviews are nothing really significant, not specifying what would be "really" significant, trying devalue all online sources at once. However magazines like Chip and Computerbild are well known in the origin country of HDClone, with their own Wikipeda article (also in English), thus shouldn't be dismissed as irrelevant sources on a mere feeling. Third all literature mentions are devalued with setting the word literature in quotes (maybe expecting a high value hard cover book) and mere namedropping (admittedly also included), ignoring that "Langkah Cerdas Mengamankan dan Menyelamatkan Data pada Hard Disk" from Madcoms included a short chapter about the usage of HDClone version 3.7 from page 138 on.
The users firefly, TheChronium, TheDreamBoat agree and copy Mottezen's opinion, though don't elaborate on that. Their verdict seems to be based solely on the possibility, that they don't know, or maybe don't like this software. Or maybe they all don't want to see articles about commercial items on Wikipedia, as at least Mottezen's user page suggests.
Based on such argumentation most articles in the following list of similar software can be deleted as well, with the exact same way of reasoning, except that it won't even be necessary to down-talk the literature mentions, since they don't exist in most cases: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_disk_cloning_software
This also goes articles of older cloning software, such as Arconis, Ghost or even the open-source Clonezilla.
The "HDClone" article I wrote may be in need of a clean-up, focusing on link and reference quality instead of quantity. But it certainly proved to be more relevant than those previous three mentions (and as others on that list as well). And as the only software using a completely different and unique operating system (Symobi), it even provides a unique feature, that sets itself apart from all the other entries on that list (again, even from the open-source Clonezilla).
All in all I consider the software HDClone as notable, as do other people writing about it in books and on websites, not just copying the product description (even in countries without language support). It did not change the world, but is a relevant and unique part of the world of backup and clone software. Simply deleting the article, because it's of a commercial software isn't reason enough. And dismissing all references as insignificant, because some might be, isn't reason enough, too. To me the deletion request seemed to be bias and not in the interest of a neutral decision.
Personal note: Personally I feel quite offended by the arbitrary and pretty much baseless deletion of an article, on which I spent days for the creation and hours for the translation. To me it seems like a there are people within the Wikipedia, who don't know what they should do all day and pick on the work of others at random (certainly not all, but some of them). Regardless of the outcome I will overthink my future support of and on Wikipedia (both often anonymously), as it may already be on its unstoppable way of loosing all control, leaving it to those who can afford it (books and publications). I have other hobbies and other, more deserving welfare projects going in my life on am not in need to continuously battle arbitrary acting pedants.
Why do I feel that way? Because my article was deleted, while other equally bad or worse ones remain untouched. My verdict on the quality of those articles is based on Wikipedia standards used to question mine, and not on my opinion of the software which those other articles are about.
If there is an initiative going on, with the goal of deleting article like mine and I'm just one of it's first victims, then I would love to know about that. Also, please add such information to the deletion request and reason. Otherwise I want the unfounded deletion of the article "HDClone" which I wrote to be reverted.
The same article was deleted in 2017 when I wrote it as a Wikipedia newbie. I was challenged and I gladly fulfilled the required demands for this article to stay. Now it seems it was just deleted on a whim. I also would like to see full articles of these people, written from scratch, to see how they fulfill their own expectations.
Best regards, Jo2root (Jo2root (talk) 17:28, 2 July 2021 (UTC))
Advice on starting a new draft (of a previously rejected one)
Hello,
I’m currently writing a new revamped version of the previous draft on Paulie Gee (that I requested to be deleted because that previous draft had been rejected).
Is it best for me to create a brand new draft page with this same subject name, or else ask you to please have the previous draft page restored and I work off of the previous one?
Thank you for your advice.

- @Alwayslp: Hi, I've gone ahead and restored Draft:Paulie Gee for you. Cheers. ✗plicit 00:40, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
Thanks so much for your help. When I clicked on the link to the previous draft, I can't see the draft of the article itself? I can only see the comments that were made by editors. Is there somewhere else I need to click to find the previous draft? Thank you again, Alwayslp (talk) 01:02, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Alwayslp: Ah, it was hidden away in the page history when you had previously blanked the page. I have now restored the text as well. ✗plicit 01:05, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
I sincerely appreciate your help! May I ask one last question?
So I can now work on the re-write from this previously rejected draft and make it new and then Publish Changes for review? Even though the previous draft had been rejected, it won't affect the newer version of the draft I'll submit for review? The editors will consider it as a new draft of an article for consideration?
Thanks again, Alwayslp (talk) 01:10, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Alwayslp: There will be no issues about the previous versions when you re-submit the draft as long as the content is written to address the concerns of the previous rejections. ✗plicit 01:17, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
Thank you so much for the information - I'm truly grateful for your help. Have a great day! Alwayslp (talk) 01:22, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
Why Did you Delete Behavioral Analysis of Markets Page? July 3rd, 2021

Undelete Request
Hi, you recently deleted File:Urzila Carlson Masked Singer Press Photo 09-2020.jpeg, a file which I created was marked for speedy deletion by User:JJMC89 under criterion #1. However, I had disputed this deletion using Template:Di-replaceable fair use disputed but I didn't get any responses and the file was still deleted. I think this deletion was unfair as I was unable to have the chance to show why this file was unreplaceable and contextually significant before it had been deleted by an administrator. Happily888 (talk) 02:39, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Happily888: Hi, per WP:NFC#UUI, the general rule is that non-free files of living people are not allowed to be used in articles. As WP:NFCC#1 states, such an image could be justified if "no free equivalent is available, or could be created". Have you considered contacting users who have uploaded images of the subject with restrictive licenses, like here and here, and asking if they would kindly release at least one of the photos under a license that is suitable for use on Wikipedia? ✗plicit 03:08, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- No, I haven't, although many of the images provided online aren't of an equivalent quality to the non-free photo, or if they are, would be unlikely to be released because of the fact that they are uploaded using restrictive licences. Happily888 (talk) 03:28, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

Rick and Morty deletion
Hi Explicit, hope you are well. I saw your AN thread regarding the accidental deletion of Rick and Morty. I had a similar incident last year where I accidentally deleted AT&T Mobility. I figured out the "delete all redirects" option was automatically checked when using Twinkle's CSD menu. I would suggest going to your Twinkle preferences and unchecking the "Check the "also delete redirects" box by default" option. Not sure if you knew about that but I found out the hard way as well. -- LuK3 (Talk) 16:03, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

G8 of a user talk page
Hi, Explicit. I noticed that you recently deleted User talk:ChrisEdrianDomingo as a G8 because the main userpage was a redirect to the deleted article. However, G8 has carved out an exception for user talk pages. You may want to reverse that deletion, so when the user returns they understand why their article has disappeared. Sdrqaz (talk) 01:50, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Sdrqaz: Thanks for the heads up, I have restored the talk page. The XFDcloser script took care of deleting the redirects, so I'm surprised it deleted a user talk page. Other tools like Twinkle are set up not to do that, even if the userpage itself is a redirect as it was in this case. ✗plicit 03:04, 8 July 2021 (UTC)

G11 decline for a redirect
Hello,
I had nominated a redirect Nauman Sait for G11 as per WP:Redirect#Reasons_for_deleting point 4,
The redirect constitutes self-promotion or spam. (Speedy deletion criterion G11 may apply.)
The redirect was originally an very obvious promotional article which was merged with MTV Roadies (season 6) after a minimally participated Afd, all ten years back. Roller26 (talk) 10:56, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Roller26: Hi, the point you refer to states that G11 may apply, but it is not a guarantee. I don't see anything in its current form or in its history that is "exclusively promotional and would need to be fundamentally rewritten to serve as [an] encyclopedia [article]" as required by G11; it certainly wouldn't have survived AFD if that was the case. ✗plicit 11:12, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
WorldVistA page deletion process.
Hello. I am interested in the Deleted Page on WorldVistA. Is there an archive that I can use to move the page to another wiki ? I was involved with the deletion process earlier, but later in June 2021, and up to now in July 2021, I have not been able to be involved. Thanks for your help DaveJWhitten (talk) 20:13, 9 July 2021 (UTC)
- @DaveJWhitten: Hi, can you elaborate what you mean by moving WorldVistA's content to another wiki? As the article was deleted by consensus via a deletion discussion, I do not have the authority to unilaterally override said consensus and restore the page. ✗plicit 07:34, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- From DaveJWhitten: I'm NOT requesting that this page get undeleted.
- I currently run a wiki at http://www.vistapedia.com/index.php/Main_Page that I would load the content from Wikipedia onto, so interested parties can work on changing the page to meet your requirements.
- Although I was active at the beginning of June re this issue, I dropped the ball in terms of contacting people who would not want the page deleted. I expect we might be able to come up with a new page to replace what was deleted closer to your current desires for content on Wikipedia.
- I am asking that you help me find a way to get the information previously stored on Wikipedia for the article's content, its history and talk pages and their history, and hopefully a listing of the pages that did link to the page such as regular in-article-links and #REDIRECT pages, so that when it is re-created, that it will be a whole article again on Wikipedia.
- I would use this information to load the content onto
- If this is the bailiwick of another person or if I can do this myself using a Special Page, could you please direct me to them, so I can make the request there.
- If there isn't a current way to export this information in a way that can be loaded onto a Media Wiki based site, please tell me a process whereby I can do what I need, possibly with a pre-Deletion copy of the Media-wiki data ?
- Version info for http://vistapedia.com/index.php/Main_Page :
Product Version MediaWiki 1.29.1 PHP 5.6.33 (apache2handler) MySQL 5.1.73 Lua 5.1.5
- Thanks! - DaveJWhitten (talk) 13:38, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
- @DaveJWhitten: I am not aware of any tool or special page that can allow a deleted page's information to be exported as you have described. The best I can offer at this moment is a copy of the article's text before deletion. ✗plicit 03:29, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

Undelete Request: User:Spektred/sandbox
Hello, I was working on a draft page in my sandbox and it was flagged for speedy deletion because
1) I made an error by adding live categories and
2) the editor claimed there was a copyright infringement.
My apologies for not doing things correctly, BUT I want to contest this because it's not a copyright infringement.
First, I can fix/remove those categories.
And second, that businesswire article contains copy which we wrote ourselves. You see, I currently work as an employee of Tri Counties Bank. So there is no copyright infringement because we wrote it, it's the same copy that we often use to explain who we are and it can be seen here on our website. Now, it doesn't need to be worded in the exact same way, but it is not a copyright infringement in any way. The verbiage was created by us.
We submitted that article to businesswire, and additionally, I am aware of my conflict of interest. My conflict of interest is clearly labeled on my talk page. I was using the sandbox to construct a draft before submitting it for review/edits.
I was trying to stay under the radar before submitting my draft, clearly I failed miserably LOL.
Sorry for the mistake, but I was mostly trying to follow the steps mentioned here.
I'm not super fluent on the Wikipedia code of laws, but can my sandbox page be restored? Or do you need additional verification of my validity? Please advise. Thanks Spektred (talk) 16:34, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Spektred: Hi, the page was not deleted as a copyright violation, it was actually deleted in accordance with the speedy deletion criterion for unambiguous advertising or promotion. The fifth point listed at WP:PROMO describes what type of content is not acceptable, even in draft form. As you are aware of your conflict of interest, it should be noted that you are strongly discouraged from editing articles relating to your employer. Regardining notability, the guideline most pertinent to this subject is the one for organizations and companies. ✗plicit 03:29, 15 July 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, I understand that Wikipedia is not the place for unambiguous advertising or promotion. That was not the intention. We were trying to create a factual article, free of bias or puffery. We are referenced in several other articles on Wikipedia already, and we feel we are notable enough for inclusion. We are larger than the banks mentioned in those other articles that mention us. We were surprised to see them on Wikipedia.
- I created the draft in my sandbox so that I could correct any issues, and provide dozens of reliable sources before submitting the draft for review but I wasn't able to finish it. I had just started writing and it got flagged before I could add any sources proving notability. I have dozens of verifiable references from online external news outlets which can confirm the size, scope and statements pertaining to the bank. As a publicly traded company, we also have financial sources available.
- I noticed that the AFC page indicates COI editing is "Strongly discouraged", but I understood that to mean creating and editing are two different things?
- It says, "you should put new articles through the Articles for Creation (AfC) process instead of creating them directly;" (and the AFC process states "If you have a conflict of interest with the topic you are writing about, you should disclose it...") this gave me the impression that COI users are allowed to write an initial draft, but they can no longer edit the draft after it has been submitted for community review. This way I'm not acting as a reviewer/editor. But I figured it helped the community if we did all the initial work to provide sources. Is that correct?
- If not, perhaps I can simply submit a request for this article to be created? It's fine with us if someone in the community was to spearheaded this instead of me. Let me know what you recommend.
- Thanks Spektred (talk) 07:28, 15 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Spektred: Discouraged, not forbidden. It is better to have an uninvolved party write about the bank over someone with professional ties to the company, though Wikipedia understands that this can not be entirely avoided. The issue with the sandbox was that it was written in a sense that was perceived to entice readers into starting business with the bank, as opposed to neutral, factual statements. Describing the "competitive breadth" of services, as well as utilizing puffery language like the "unique" brand of customer service, made the page sound more like an ad than an encyclopedic entry.
- For clarification, your sandbox was not tagged for review through the AFC process. If you would like to give it another attempt, I would suggest going through the AFC process directly by creating the page in the draft namespace and attaching the {{AfC submission/draft}} is said draft. ✗plicit 02:40, 16 July 2021 (UTC)

- @Bostonite01310: Hi, I search for images on daum.net, then click on the "blog" (블로그) tab, scroll down a bit, and narrow the CCL option down to cc-by-4.0 (저작자표시) or cc-by-sa-4.0 (저작자/비영리/변경금지). You will need to check that the blogs don't have contradictory terms, as they won't be accepted. About delete of the article by Laurie Michelle Bridges.
Hello, I am contacting you because you were the administrator who closed the discussion on Laurie Michelle Bridges. I did not get to participate in the first debate and when I re-create the content it goes to speedy deletion, however I think it deserves a debate because it is a very valuable person for the library community and there are even references to improve the article. I will be attentive to your comments. Thanks! Virc587 (talk) 14:42, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Virc587: You may wish to start the page as a draft first, where you can work on developing the new article without risk of it being deleted. This gives you time to make sure it meets Wikipedia guidelines such as our notability policy on academics. ––FORMALDUDE(talk) 16:53, 22 July 2021 (UTC) (talk page stalker)
- @Virc587: Hi, the AFD link shows that you did participate in the deletion discussion. However, your argument did not adequately address the concerns brought up during the debate, mainly that the subject does not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines. As stated there, Laurie Michelle Bridges needs to meet at least one of the points listed at WP:NACADEMIC. Failing that, a subject may still be notable under the general notability guideline if the criteria listed there are met. The participants there did not successfully find the coverage needed to justify voting "keep" in this case. As FormalDude stated above, it may be worth developing a draft first—it allows for experienced editors to review the page and provide comments which may aid you in writing the article to satisfy notability guidelines. ✗plicit 00:14, 23 July 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for your answer ✗. I participated in the debate outside the stipulated date, so my argument appears but it was not taken into account. I will make a draft again. How should I ask for support to get it reviewed? Regarding notability, Laurie meets, at least, criteria 2 and 3 of the general list and this was referenced. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Virc587 (talk • contribs) 16:01, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Virc587: Once you have completed your draft and believe it is ready for submission, you can attach the {{AfC submission/draft}} template to the top of the page of said draft to await comments from a reviewer. They will either accept your draft and move it into mainspace, or it will be rejected with additional guidance. ✗plicit 00:22, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

Not sure why my page Adrian Țofei was deleted, can it be restored?
Hi, I've seen that my page has been removed. I'm not sure I understand the reason why. I specified from the start on my user page that I have a conflict of interest, as required by Wiki guidelines, and the info I provided is minimal, to the point, objective and sourced from reputable publications. I didn't include anything which might be considered biased.
I also read about a previous page from years ago which was deleted back then. Was the new page deleted because of that? I did not create the previous one, therefore I don't understand the connection... Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adrian Tofei (talk • contribs) 11:25, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
Later edit: I've just read the G4 section ("the page was sufficiently identical and unimproved copy of any page deleted via a deletion discussion"), then checked the previous page and it seems it was quite different from the one I submitted. Back then my movie wasn't considered to be a cult film and there were significantly less sources from reputable publications. Is there a way to have my page restored? Adrian Tofei (talk) 11:36, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Adrian Tofei: Hi, the version you created was quite identical to the version that was deleted via deletion discussion four years ago. There was some rewording, but the information and references were almost entirely the same. The only real difference was about your marriage, sourced to your own website. The concerns addressed from the AFD were not addressed at all.
- Additionally, please note that you are strongly discouraged from editing articles relating to yourself due to your conflict of interest. ✗plicit 12:29, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
@Explicit: Thanks for the explanations. From what I could understand, the page that was deleted before was an almost identical copy of my movie's page, so I guess the similarities stem from that, since most of the info I submitted for the new one has to do with my movie. The marriage also appeared in Romanian media, but I wasn't sure if foreign language sources are accepted in the English wikipedia or not.[1] There was also new info about me being in post-production with my new movie, sourced from a top European film site, Cineuropa[2], plus new info on my first movie being considered a cult film[3] and more[4], I don't think any of these have been listed in the older page. Are all these not sufficient? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adrian Tofei (talk • contribs) 16:13, 29 July 2021 (UTC)

Copying to commons
Hi, I am unable to transfer few images to commons which has hidden files. They are in the Category:Copy to Wikimedia Commons with hidden file revisions. When you get time, can you review this category and restore the files which are free? Or do you have any other recommendations to handle this? --Kuttappan Chettan (talk) 15:04, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Kuttappan Chettan: Hi, I'll look into it when I can and deal with it in batches. If there are specific files you want to transfer, you can request for the revision to be restored at WP:REFUND. ✗plicit 05:15, 31 July 2021 (UTC)

Deleting pages
Twice today, I've going through a category and deleting pages and you swooped in and did a batch delete after I started and while I was working on them. It's very frustrating especially when I'm going through the pages individually. Maybe if you see an admin working on an area, maybe you could give them some space to finish what they are doing and find something else to work on. This has been going on for some time now. There are lots of areas of the project you could work on besides the areas where I'm currently working. For example, I don't ever touch the daily image deletions because that's an area you regularly do but maybe the situation has changed. Liz Read! Talk! 05:09, 1 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Liz: When I loaded the pages, no work had begun in either case. I just as equally run into error messages on Twinkle after clicking the submit button when it tries to delete pages that no longer exist. The real problem lies in the fact that this is the second time you've tried to discourage me from working in admin areas because you want certain areas to be "yours", in turn creating a uncongenial, hostile environment. The fact that you're attempting to intimidate me even further by working in "my" areas shows your unfit temperament as an administrator. ✗plicit 05:22, 1 August 2021 (UTC)

CFD merges to 1912 in Russian empire
Hi, this is just a courtesy note to inform you that I reversed three of your CFD closures at Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2021_May_10#1912_establishments_in_Lithuania and below. Your closes were perfectly proper, but there was much greater participation at Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2021_June_18#Establishments_in_the_Russian_Empire_when_there_was_no_Lithuania which went the other way (Keep, or no consensus resulting in Keep).
Please excuse me using Undo on your edits to implement the reinstatements. – Fayenatic London 11:03, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Fayenatic london: No worries at all, especially since all the opposition to the latest CFD occurred two weeks after i closed those three discussions. Thanks for the courtesy notice. ✗plicit 12:34, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
Regarding deletion of an article on Shaurya Doval
Dear Explicit,
I saw that the article on Shaurya Doval has been deleted by you based on the lack of credibility of associated articles. Upon discussion with a volunteer Tim, I was told that the article about this person wasn't backed by reliable media sources. Can you please explain the issue, here? It would be very helpful.
Thanks, Himanshu. Ht24 (talk) 14:07, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Ht24: Hi, Shaurya Doval was deleted as a result of deletion discussion found at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shaurya Doval (2nd nomination). Participants there determined that the subject did not meet the notability guidelines to merit inclusion on Wikipedia. Regarding sources, the most pertinent guidelines are the reliable sources and general notability guidelines. ✗plicit 00:22, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
Dear Explicit, The discussion holds no ground. As far as reliability and the notability of the person is concerned, you just need to google the name to establish the fact that the person is reliable and well as notable. His father is a highly decorated IPS officer presently serving as the National Security Advisor of India but this doesn't diminish the notable achievements of Shaurya Doval. He has co-founded India Foundation, a highly regarded think tank in India along with Shri Ram Madhav, a senior politician of the BJP. As of now, Shaurya Doval is serving as the State Executive Member of BJP in his home state and has the additional charge of State Convenor, Good Governance in Uttarakhand.

- @Ht24: Some of these sources were already present in the article at the time the deletion discussion, so those may not be of particular help in trying to have the page restored. Many of them are interviews with Doval and he is quoted directly, and such sources are considered primary sources; they are not independent of the subject, which do not aid in establishing notability. Others mention Doval in passing—to qualify as significant coverage, news articles should "[address] the topic directly and in detail". Please note that notability is not inherited, even if the subject's father is notable. ✗plicit 13:21, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
Dear @Explicit:,
Notability is not inherited. 100% agreed. In fact, I have been saying the same. The image and public works of Shaurya Doval have nothing to do with his father. Here, Shaurya Doval has been targeted to be unworthy of being notable only because his father is a highly notable person in the Indian Govt. But, this doesn't diminish his noteworthiness. If someone's article was to be deleted only because his/her father is a notable person, then the articles of "Jai Shah" and "Rahul Gandhi" should also be deleted. This cannot be a criterion of deletion.
Articles addressing the topic directly in the mainstream media: https://www.patrika.com/political-news/nsa-ajit-dobhal-son-join-bjp-he-is-fight-2019-election-suspence-2127152/ (In Hindi. - @Ht24: Deletion debates are evaluated by the strength of the arguments presented, not by the contributors who present them. Additionally, as all participants argued in favor of deletion, the discussion could not have resulted in any other outcome.
- Three of the four sources you have cited are about the conflict of interest alleged by The Wire, which was also noted in the AFD. The first Hindi source is a start, but may or may not be sufficient. You may want to consider asking for further community input at deletion review. ✗plicit 09:22, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
Dear @Explicit:,
India Foundation is a very influential public policy think tank in India. It is known for its close ties to the government. Four of its Board Members joined the Govt of India as ministers when BJP came into power in 2014. Shaurya Doval is the Co-founder of the India Foundation along with Ram Madhav[1]. Based on his credibility and contributions as a Public Policy thinker, there should be an article on him.
Please check these links as well. Here, the topic has been addressed directly. Most of the articles addressing the topic directly are in Hindi as his home state is a Hindi speaking state: https://hindi.mynation.com/news/centre-government-provided-z-security-to-shaurya-doval-include-in-ten-bjp-leaders-pqtbai https://www.punjabkesari.in/national/news/ajit-doval-son-shourya-joins-bjp-725344 http://thewirehindi.com/24597/time-bjp-allowed-indians-work-pakistanis-want/ https://www.rajyasameeksha.com/uttarakhand/16197-shaurya-dobhal-may-get-ticket-of-garhwal-loksabha-seat https://www.etvbharat.com/hindi/uttarakhand/state/nainital/shaurya-doval-son-of-national-security-advisor-ajit-doval-reached-haldwani-today/uttarakhand20201003130904621 https://www.dilsedeshi.com/biography/shaurya-doval-biography-hindi/

Eastleigh F.C. club crest
@Explicit ― Did you really need to delete Eastleigh F.C. club crest when it could've been re-used in the same article under a new (not yet created) section titled something like "Former Eastleigh F.C. club crest"? Here's an example of the re-using of old crests in the article AFC Bournemouth#Early_21st_century ― ST MADG*85 (talk)
- @ST MADG*85: Please see WP:NFC#cite_note-4. Generally, only one logo is allowed to be used in an article and only in the infobox. Former logos must be subject to critical commentary from reliable sources to be considered contextually significant and merit inclusion. The situation you've described would violate WP:NFCC policy, and the former logo used in AFC Bournemouth happens to do so. I have nominated that for deletion. ✗plicit 13:11, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
