Fair use rationale for Image:Salminen.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Salminen.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 20:16, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
French commune pages
[edit]While I appreciate that you are adding articles about French communes, such as Polliat, please do not add in the "demographic evolution" graphs for these reasons:
- The axes are unlabeled.
- It makes the format of the French commune articles inconsistent with many other articles about small communities; the other articles don't have them.
- They are nearly impossible to maintain as they are constantly changing.
- They are not SVGs, even though they could be.
- No source of the data has been provided.
Maybe it would be better anyway to just add the link to the data. « D Trebbien (talk) 20:47 2008 January 1 (UTC)
- Do you speak Dutch? I don't know if that page on nl.wikipedia.org gives its source. « D Trebbien (talk) 20:54 2008 January 1 (UTC)
- Hmm. I didn't know about the <timeline> feature. Maybe this would be alright, after all. I thought these were images that had to be edited or re-generated every time the data changed. « D Trebbien (talk) 20:56 2008 January 1 (UTC)
INSEE seems fine. Do you think the vertical axis is in thousands? « D Trebbien (talk) 21:07 2008 January 1 (UTC)
- Never mind. I see that it is not. 1 means one person. « D Trebbien (talk) 21:08 2008 January 1 (UTC)
Referencing the site would be good. Thank you for your work. « D Trebbien (talk) 21:18 2008 January 1 (UTC)
I'm back
[edit]Thanks for the heads up - I've initiated conversations regarding the Korean project. (I'm a bit amused, because I very nearly started a Korean film task force shortly before I left, but thought better of it without any prior editor requests.) Good luck with the large cinemas you're getting ready to attack; I'm still working on tagging the relevant French and Italian articles! Rash of image deletion notices
[edit]Hi, Blofeld, and Happy New Year! Do you have any idea what's up with the recent outbreak of deletion notices for film poster images? Yesterday I uploaded some and got a "No Rationale" note on images which clearly had rationales. Image:Out to the World.jpg and Image:A Fine, Windy Day.jpg. Today I see several film articles with warnings that their posters are about to be deleted, yet no notice at the image: Talk:Happy End (film) and The Ballad of Narayama (1983 film) for example. What's up? Are the bots going crazy and taking over? Dekkappai (talk) 18:11, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit]The December 2007 issue of the Films WikiProject newsletter has been published. You may read the newsletter, change the format in which future issues will be delivered to you, or unsubscribe from this notification by following the link. Thank you.

There was an older discussion Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2007 January 12 regarding this. There were two requests on 12/7/07 for speedy deletion; It was deleted by User:Lid on 12/7/07. The odd thing is I don't see a recreation of the category between 12/7 and 12/10, when it was de-populated and again requested for speedy deletion.
I'm assuming that you're wanting to recreate the category... if so, I think the best route would be taking it to Wikipedia:Deletion review so that there won't be a question in the future about it's existence. Let me know if you take this route, I'll put my 2 cents in about it. SkierRMH (talk) 22:29, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Tamil/Telugu films question
[edit]Hello Blofeld, long time no talk! Obviously I've been away from Wiki for a long time and am now back (more or less within the next month) and ready to get back to editing and WP:INCINE. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know of a discussion that has been posted at WT:INCINE#Tamils_films_list_has_Telugu_language_films.3F. You may be able to clarify the issue. Thanks, Ekantik talk 15:10, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Sure i will contribute
[edit]I am from Andhra pradesh so was interested to contribute about telugu films. wikipedia helped me a lot to find about just anything i wanted, so i always want to contribute to it. I am not a movie buff but the information about Indian films is really not adequate so wanted to write something about them. Your right about IMDB, despite being most comprehensive movie database in the world, it doesn't have all the movies. i have tried searching in other databases, but no database in internet lists every single movie released in India. I wonder if even our Govt has the archives or not. --Ajay ijn (talk) 15:52, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
i feel exactly the same way about adding those templates in the bottom of every film page. I will try to the add templates to as many telugu films as possible. --Ajay ijn (talk) 16:20, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Even i have the confusion about when to begin the year of telugu films. dun have much of knowledge about films in past. But how many movies per year do you think should be needed in miniumum to create a seperate article?, may be we will have to depend on IMDB for the information. --Ajay ijn (talk) 16:32, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Telugu films template
[edit]I'm working on adding Telugu films on a yearly basis. For now, I created the pages of 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s and will be working on films thereafter based on how many were made each year. If the articles expand with more films from these years, individual year pages can be added. Since, the list of films during the era of 1930s - 1960s is not that elaborate, having yearly pages would not really be appropriate. Based on what I gather in the next few days, I would be making the necessary changes in the Tollywood template as well. Thanks for bringing this to my attention! Regards, Mspraveen (talk) 16:33, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
- Naming as "Telugu films of 19xx" sounds perfect for me. Since we did not really have a consensus on this, I just went with the Bollywood-based naming convention. If this could be changed, you may please do so. I really have little idea on these nitty-gritties. If about 20 films can be included in an article of a year, then right from 1960 onwards, I know there are films consistently made over 20 in number. Regards, Mspraveen (talk) 16:48, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
I am presently active and if the necessary article name changes are made, I shall continue with the edits. I have a whole bunch of years to do: 1940s, 1950s, and 196x onwards to do! :) 1930s is pretty much done. Maybe you can have a look at it, if you have not already done so. Regards, Mspraveen (talk) 16:50, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
i agree, it should be telugu films instead of tollywood.--Ajay ijn (talk) 16:52, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds perfect! Thanks and regards, Mspraveen (talk) 16:57, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
exactly i agree with you, we should first expand the pre-2000s lists and then take the decision about which decade lists to split into year. BTW do you guyz know that heated dicussion between an Indian & a chinese member in the discussion of 1962 Indo-China war was so serious that the news got into one Indian newspaper DNA India. Read this Sino-Indian war breaks out on Wikipedia its really splendid to read such wiki articles. --Ajay ijn (talk) 17:09, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your words! Well, I just finished the list of 1940s and once I entered 1950, I realized that the number of films is steadily over 20. You mentioned 20 films/year for a new article, but 20 films will be shorter that the Template:Indianfilmlist. Most of Bollywood yearly films from 1961 have more than 20 articles, say even 40. What is the usual mandate of the number of films for a new article? Regards, Mspraveen (talk) 19:06, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Here is my source: Telugu Films It looks fairly correct with its content atleast to me. Your thoughts? I shall be updating the 50s decade and thereafter yearly from 1960. I could manage no other source and it is pretty pitiable that we don't really have totally verifiable database. Regards, Mspraveen (talk) 02:37, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for your nice words about the Sivaji article. About Tamil films template, hmm..I could do so, but, with my affiliation to Telugu, I can do and check for any errors with earnest as well. However, if I find a good source for Tamil movies, I shall attempt that. For the Telugu films template, I've finished until 1961. Whats keeping you busy nowadays? Regards, Mspraveen (talk) 13:55, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Hi Dr. Blofeld! I've a quick question that I asked Shahid as well. I guess, he is busy.
I've never done a DYK submission before. I wanted to submit a DYK about a Telugu actor for having done more than 750 films which earned him a Guinness World Record (GWR). I was not sure if facts from GWR could be submitted as entries. Any ideas? Regards, Mspraveen (talk) 14:42, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

- Oh, I see what you mean about the copyright. If I were to pick one I'd go with one of these: [1] [2] [3] [4]. the first one is now the official picture on shambhala shrines, the most definitive. The second was the previous definitive picture. Both were taken during his prime. The third is unattributed and from his early years. And the fourth I suspect taken when he escaped to india. Which do you think would work better from a fair use argument? - Owlmonkey (talk) 18:17, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
- Ya, let's swap it. Any of those would be good. I'm not sure if any would be more or less likely to magnetize a copyright complaint. I doubt any would really because none are controversial, they're all just thumbnails, and they're attractive. If you posted one of him in a military uniform, like [5] that might cause a stir though... just because it would be harder for people to understand. - Owlmonkey (talk) 18:32, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Though my time is somewhat limited, I'm working now also on another wiki project to collect references and citations on terms in Shambhala content (transcripts and books mostly) that I hope will help here and help generally. Tibetan Buddhism template
[edit]Dear Ernst: Thank you very much for all the fine work you have put into the new Tibetan Buddhism template. Of course I am thrilled and honoured that you have chosen one of my photos to include in it (although I am aware that it may well be changed from time to time - it does catch one's attention - doesn't it?). I also agree that there is a need for a separate template for Tibetan Buddhism as it is really quite different than other forms of Buddhism - especially Theravadin Buddhism.
Now, I really like what you have done - so please don't take any comments as critical - they are just suggestions. First, while I love the colours you have chosen, the dark blue on mauve is sometimes really hard to read. Please keep the mauve - it is is so evocative of Tibetan Buddhism (robes of the monks, etc.) - but it may be necessary to use black writing on the mauve sections to make it easily readable. What do you think?
Under "Key concepts" I would add Bodhisattva. Under "Major figures" I would add Karmapa Lama. Under "Practices" I would add tantric yoga. Under "Texts" I would add Kangyur and Tengyur.
Finally, I would change "Monasteries" and "Festivals" to "Major Monasteries" and "Major Festivals" so we don't get overloaded in the boxes.
Please let me know what you think about these suggestions. Oh, and by the way, on the 13th Jo (who is now finally retired - hurray!) and I will be leaving for a driving trip to the beautiful Atherton Tablelands to the south of us to visit friends and visit all the tourist attractions - something we have never done before. We expect to be away for about 3 weeks and using other peoples' computers at times - so I will only be able to check mail and do minor things until I get back.
All best wishes - and thanks again for all the very valuable work you have been doing - especially on Tibetan topics. John Hill (talk) 00:55, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comments this morning (it is always great to wake up and find a note from you!). I do hope you can get the black to work on the maroon as I do think it would be much clearer. On second thought, perhaps gold or bright yellow would work all right????? That would certainly give it all in "Tibetan colours"!
- Yes, I agree it is very appropriate to have Padmasambhava's image in the box. However, in all modesty, if I may say so myself, I do think the earlier photo of mine catches the eye better than the later one - especially as the image is quite small in the box. I think the main idea should be to grab the reader's attention. It is also clearer and less cluttered - but I hesitate giving you more work to do to change the photos again. Whatever you decide, please let me know what you think.
- BTW, do have a look at the notes I added yesterday to the article on Bon under the heading: "Recognition and equality of Bon as one of the five main spiritual Schools of Tibet", and let me know if you have any comments.
- I have just been looking through some of the edits you did yesterday. You certainly are busy! I send you my thanks and very best wishes. Cheers! John Hill (talk) 10:44, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Museums
[edit]I'm looking at improving the contents part. It should become a key and a navbox.
Then I think the page can be suitably wrappped up with no-includes and transcluded back, repurposing the content,
Of course the original problem where the number of icons exceeded the ability or desire of the engine to serve them still exists, but we can possibly use regional pages, as I suggested in talk.
Rich Farmbrough, 15:55 7 January 2008 (GMT).
- Well, look at List of museums in Oklahoma, compared with my test List of museums in Alabama. Also there is in my mind, a question of whether there's a level of notability where a museum should be in the U.S. list, and below which it should be in a state list. Lots to think about. Are you any-good with clickable image maps? I'm trying to re-factor the generic clickable US stateTOC, to make a more useful tool. Possibly someone has already done it of course... Rich Farmbrough, 16:05 7 January 2008 (GMT).
- Absolutely fine by me, if the content can be generated. I should stress I only got involved in this page today, because of a stray {{Ambox}} on it! Rich Farmbrough, 16:17 7 January 2008 (GMT).
Splitting up List of museums in the United States
[edit]I thought it was good as one big article too but there were a couple of problems that myself and others have run into while working on it. There were so many museums that we could not put an icon on each on because of a limitation of Wikimedia. Also the page was recommended to be split because of its huge size. And also the page really took a long time to load for most people.
Our solution was to split the article up so each state has its own article. I have designed the US Map at the top of all the articles such that you can click it and it will go directly to the appropriate article. In order to do this, I have made a TOC template so I can make a change at one place and it will affect all of the articles. The only tricky thing at this point is that the TOC template must be modified for each state that is split off onto a new article. This is why at this exact moment if you're, say, in the California article and you click Alaska on the map, it will bring you to the main US article and anchor you to the Alaska section where you would have to click the link to go to the Alaska page. When I fix the TOC template (in several minutes), it will go directly to the correct article skipping all that nonsense.
I believe that when every article has been split properly, we may decide to remove all the state sections from the main US article leaving just the stuff that's currently at the bottom.
Feel free to read and take part in the discussion here:
Thanks, Ben —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ben Boldt (talk • contribs) 16:00, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
That looks good to me if you would like to go in and make those changes but that would be way too much work for me to do. You do present a good point, though. Because the museum pages are so much shorter now, that's a lot more feasible as far as how it will affect the size of the article and how much better it would look.
I say go for it if you have the time and patience. I have neither for that myself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ben Boldt (talk • contribs) 16:18, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
- No problem formatting the current data into tables, if that would be useful. However like yourselves I have not the time to fill in al the details - perhaps we should do it, and rely on various statians to fill the gaps. Rich Farmbrough, 16:35 7 January 2008 (GMT).
- I don't think that it's completely necessary to embellish these articles so much because they are list articles. I have been working on adding an icon to each museum to identify what type of museum it is and I think that this is more than enough information for a list. I like the icons because you can tell at a glance what type of museum it is. I agree that it would be much better to use your format, but I wouldn't enjoy doing it at all.
- Right now, if the link is blue, you can click it to see a whole article on that museum and if it is red, you can click it if you have something you'd like to contribute. And that's the way that most list articles are intended to work. Just for organization of real Wikipedia articles. List articles do not need to be encyclopedic like ordinary Wikipedia articles. It's like a directory or an index.

Changing TOC templates on list of museums state pages
[edit]My plan was to use the template that had the clickable map on each list of museums page. This is what I had in mind when I made that TOC. We need to come to an agreement before you make that change. I believe that it should be the way that it was before.
The old TOC allows for the transition we are in. All links on the old TOC started out by linking directly to the main US page and going to the appropriate anchor link of that state. As new articles are split out, the old TOC would be updated to go directly to the new page(s). Eventually, when all the pages are split, the old TOC will work like the new TOC template you made.
I understand that the template with the map is large but I believe that it is easier to use and looks fairly decent. Please discuss this on the main US list of museums talk page with me before proceeding with your new template. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ben Boldt (talk • contribs) 18:21, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
These lists are organizational only. They are not for informational purposes. The large header allows you to easily click a different state. This is important because all of the states are in the same level of hierarchy. And you have confirmed this by creating a new similar template. The only differences are that your method now requires 2 templates, yours has no map, and your states are not neatly aligned in 5 columns of 10. I am going to revert all of your changes until we can get enough people to support them. I do not agree with a single thing you have done. We will come to a consensus this way and there will be no dispute as to how it should be done.
I am not offended nor am I trying to be offensive. I am trying to do what is best for these articles, organization-wise and I think that the changes you are making are not necessary and are actually making things less organized. Please discuss this on the talk page of the main list of museums in the US page so we can have an audience. Ben Boldt (talk) 18:40, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Please stop editing temporarily.
[edit]We need to stop making changes and talk about things for a while. Let's just take a break and see what we can figure out. We should come up with a detailed plan first, then carry it out. Right now I can hardly keep up with what you are doing. I have undone a lot of your edits just to give us some time to discuss and think about what we want so we can come to an agreement. I mean no hostility by undoing your work.
I had to undo what you did to the old template too because you had defeated the purpose of the transition. With the old template, all links can remain blue during the transition. The links should be changed only after the new article has been created. Ben Boldt (talk) 19:02, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Map Picture from Book
[edit]Hi friend, Thank you for helping me. Now I have a troble. I dont know how can I upload the map pictures for division and states, their disticts and township and cities. Can you tell me how can I upload?--Ekyaw (talk) 19:19, 7 January 2008 (UTC) they are from scanner copy. Yes in my country now government is establishing the law of patent. This images are sanned from the book published by Government of Union of Myanmar for Public and there is nothing about copyright. (In my country most private book have copyright). For example, in book of Myanmar-English Dictionary, at begin there is words "Copyright by Department of Myanmar Language Group". So I think they can't be copyrighted.--Ekyaw (talk) 03:24, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
- I left a message at User talk:Ekyaw - I think that the best alternative right now is to use a modified {{PD-because}} like I spelled out on his talk page. If you have any better solutions, the input would probably be appreciated. SkierRMH (talk) 07:21, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Clearly state what changes you would like to make and why. Then I will discuss whether I agree or disagree and why. From there other people can state what they think. Maybe this way we will find the best solution. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ben Boldt (talk • contribs) 19:21, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Mixed messages and thanks
[edit]I am really sorry if I have been sending you mixed messages. It's probably because I am mixed up - but I am too mixed up to tell - so I'll have to let you decide on that one. ;^) Thanks so much for reinserting the original photo - it really does catch one's attention - which, of course, is exactly what an image of Padmasambhava should do. Apologies again for all the confusion. Best wishes. John Hill (talk) 22:03, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
I have just had a good look at the box. It is a shame you had to lighten the maroon - but it really does make it all far more legible. You really have been busy! Thanks for everything - you have, indeed, provided a fabulous service to all readers interested in Tibetan Buddhism. Now, I've got to stop procrastinating and write my latest column for the Japanese on-line magazine Groovin' High! Thanks again, mate! John Hill (talk) 22:17, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Adminship
[edit]Someone needs to be able to work on the protected frickin' project templates, and that's why I finally gave in. Someone also revised, reasonably, it appears, the Africa template to remove the work groups. I saw the results and agree. It'll take a while, but I'll revise the banner myself in a few days, I hope. Right now I'm trying to actually work on the Zinta revision, believe it or not. :) John Carter (talk) 22:20, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Groovin' High
[edit]Hi again! Yeah, do have a look at the magazine (fortunately, all the controls are marked in English so it is easy to navigate). I think you would really enjoy it - it is focussed on young (20-30) urban Japanese with an emphasis on travel and music. Anyway, the main page can be accessed at: http://www.groovinhigh.jp/ If you want to have a peep at my first column (which is in both Japanese and English and contains some photos of my home and its more interesting inhabitants), then click on "Journal" and then on "Index", and then on the photo of the old bald and bearded man. This, along with my Wikipedia help keep me occupied when I am not working on my more "serious" studies and research. Hope you enjoy it! John Hill (talk) 22:49, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Myanmar motion pictures
[edit]Hey. I've been preoccupied lately starting a new Thai film blog, but once I've got it fixed up to my satisfaction, I hope to be making more contributions here. Nonetheless, I photoshopped the museum photo to remove the date stamp. I also want to migrate it to Commons. Just to clarify, the statue in front is the Myanma Academy Award? Once it's migrated, I'll do a crop.
Also, I haven't forgotten about the film icons for South Africa and the Soviet Union. I wanted to try and work them up in SVG format and am not quite ready to give up on that idea. — WiseKwai 05:54, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

List of museums in the US system
[edit]I'm going to use {{ListOfMuseumsByUSStateTOC}} at the top of each page. This currently contains the map but we can change that at the template level until we find something we agree on. I was thinking I could make the map collapsible so it will collapse down to look like the one you made and somehow remember to be collapsed from page to page. I'm just using the old map one for now to get it working.
Thanks for your work! I have removed the icon key. I agree that icons no longer are very useful. Ben Boldt (talk) 15:10, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
No, no - I'm not reverting anything! I like what you did a lot! The map is what will be the navigation from page to page. I'm going to add that on to what you did, then we can change the navigation to a style that suits us both just by editing the template.
Ben Boldt (talk) 15:13, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
All that I have to do to get the navigation working is to add this code to the top of each page:
{{ListOfMuseumsByUSStateTOC}}
I can do this in a relatively short period of time. Ben Boldt (talk) 15:16, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
Upon further inspection, I like the way you used {{Museums in the US}} down at the bottom. It's more Wikipedia-like than the big map I made.
Could we use the big map just on the main US page and then leave the individual state pages just as they are? I would like to have it somewhere because it took me FOREVER to make it as perfect as it is. Notice that it's even an SVG (vector) image. It can be scaled to any size and not ever loose quality.
Ben Boldt (talk) 15:36, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
I would like to congratulate you on a job well done. I think these pages are looking great. I was not looking forward to doing all of this and you did it in a matter of hours! You introduced new perspectives that I would not have seen on my own. I would never have thought to put the navigation on the bottom but that's where it really belongs. I would never have used tables. Again, good job. I look forward to seeing more of these tables you're working on.

It looks like he did create the template with the TfD notification from the first edit. There is no deletion history for it under that title, and the TfD page doesn't show any attempts at adding it into the mix. This happens once in a while, there are a couple of us that go through the TfD category just to make sure these inadvertent goofs don't sit around too long. Template colours
[edit]Part of a series on |
Tibetan Buddhism |
---|
The template has so bright colours. Can the colours be replaced by some other more soothing colours, which are reflective of Tibetian Buddhism???? Even the Image:Dharma wheel.svg is not clearly visible. Maybe a dark maroon red similar to Padmasambhava's robe is better suited. --Redtigerxyz (talk) 07:20, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, I beg to differ from the above suggestion. I thought I should add here that I like the colours. Tibetan Buddhists use lots of bright colours in their temples, tangkhas, statues, prayer flags, etc. Have a look at Tibetan tangkhas - they are often deliberately designed to catch and hold your attention (check out the eyes in the statue of Padmasambhava in the box and on many large stupas). Tibet is full of intense colour - many visitors remark on it - I think it is partly because of the high altitude and generally sunny weather - and it certainly carries over into the artwork. Finally, I think the maroon background is particularly evocative as it is the colour used for monks' robes. Cheers, John Hill (talk) 09:32, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- I liked the dark maroon, used in earlier version. I suggest it looks better as its not very bright. Maybe the colour of the writing can be changed? --Redtigerxyz (talk) 11:01, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- IMO, white on dark maroon will look good.--Redtigerxyz (talk) 11:04, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Reunioncrawfordwayne.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Reunioncrawfordwayne.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
[edit]It did, but they've since been reverted. That banner's in line, believe me. If I can finish the Africa Project banner, today, that's the next one. John Carter (talk) 20:05, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- Regarding separate banners, honestly, that might not be a bad idea, except possibly in cases when an article deals with a subject related to more than one country, in which case there would probably be a lot of banners on those pages, which is frowned on. Also, while I personally hope just as much as you that there's no reason not for each group to become active, one of the problems we'll probably face is having those projects be declared inactive, and have them proposed for merger into a larger project later. A few US state projects are already inactive, and that surprises me more than a little, given the number of American editors we have. If we start them as work groups, they also hopefully might draw more editors to the parent project, which would probably help as well. I wouldn't mind adjusting the banners in the future to maintain entirely separate projects, though. And, regarding the Central Asia banner, someone didn't like how it changed the importance parameters. I've noted the India project banner has separate importance rankings for main project and work group, and I'm going to try to adjust it for use for Central Asia. That would probably ensure that it doesn't get reverted again in the future. And, with luck, I can probably change some of the other multicountry banners like that as well. John Carter (talk) 20:17, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

- If they're growing rapidly, it's never too early to think about doing it. But like I said last time, do it with upmerged templates for the time being. Until there's 60 for each potentially sub-type, don't create undersized categories. Alai (talk) 16:08, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
No problem: I'm sick at the moment, which is doubtless augmenting my inherent grumpiness. I'll mention it at WSS/P, and create the upmerged templates once my head is less feverish and pounding. Alai (talk) 21:08, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

- On the other hand, you will be shocked to see her here... But IMO, she looks great in tradional clothes as well. I like it when she wears sarees... It is her first art film, The Last Lear. And she has apparently completed her Canadian/Punjabi film Heaven on Earth. She plays a battered wife. She found it very difficult to play such a complex role, it had really stressed her [11]. But nevertheless, an actor is an actor, and you can't do always commercial films. You have to prove yourself further. Navboxes in filmographies
[edit]I've run across a few actor filmographies in which someone has come along and converted to navboxes. I'm a little confused by this, as it seems to me to be in conflict with the goals of the WikiProject Actors and Filmmakers. It also precludes making any notes whatsoever, including roles, and renders the font into a very small format, which is difficult to read. My example is Gene Hackman. We have this collapsible navbox vs. huge and unwieldy awards boxes (which to me seem excessive in this case). What is your take on how to handle any of this? I couldn't find a discussion anywhere that supported the use of navboxes in filmographies. What I've been doing with awards is moving lists of awards into the filmography table and only leaving lesser awards in a list. However, the Hackman article is one of the most excessive awards box collection I've come across. Thanks. Wildhartlivie (talk) 14:01, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'll work on it. I've been working through the actors lists (started with the awards section on the list), with a little over 50% of the Academy Award acting awards done. I noted it on the project discussion page. Wildhartlivie (talk) 14:40, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

National templates
[edit]I've found that the {{WPBiography}} includes some code which allows for the replacement of the regular seen banner with a project specific one in some instances. I'm probably going to try to figure out how to adapt that template for the national subprojects. Right now, though, there is the matter of the category list for Mexico tagging to be concerned with. I don't know that I've ever seen so many subcats in my life. I've been at this for about half a day know, but do, finally, think I might be making some headway. John Carter (talk) 17:57, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
- Someone suggested it sounded too belligerent, and they're probably right. I've had some trouble getting any of my thark buddies like Tars Tarkas here down here, so I wasn't able to get Tars to discuss with that person how he might be mistaken. The xenophobia of the police here in the US is getting a little extreme, really. Just because someone's uncommonly tall and rather distinct looking, he can't even walk down the street without people staring at him. Also, unfortunately, Tars' discussion tend to be like the one pictured. John Carter (talk) 18:30, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not sure anyone would object to your name really, as it's I think derived from a fictional character, but doesn't have explicitly unfortunate characteristics. If you're really him of course, I wish to offer my highest regards and express my total contempt for the British government for having so often unjustifiably stuck their noses in your business affairs. [edit]hi, sorry for being dim, but I can't figure out the syntax for using the Location map Argentina, perhaps you could put one on Monte Hermoso (in the infobox?) and then I'll copy what you did for other locations. Regards, King of the NorthEast 14:10, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

- I've found a bit about Tarrío, but there are big gaps, I've no idea when he made his debut for Ferro Carril Oeste (pre-1925) where he played between 1931-1935, and in 1939, his date of birth or place of birth. Also I can only find one club in his managerial career (there must be more). I'll email a few contacts for the birth info, I don't like starting articles with loads of missing info. I'm sort of stymied on this one; there was no prod, no nada as far as I can tell, it was just deleted right after the template. I've restored it, assuming that there was a thought that the one linked to the other. SkierRMH (talk) 05:10, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Ghana group
[edit]Go ahead and place the banner in as many places as you want, but it might be a good idea to try to ask for a bot to either generate all the subcats of Category:Ghana, to see if they're all relevant, and/or place a request on the Wikipedia:Bot requests page for a bot to place the banner on all articles in a given category. It's a lot faster if someone else does it, believe me. And I just found the Category:Mesoamerica, almost all of which seems to be relevant to Mexico. Arrgh. John Carter (talk) 20:18, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- Nope, the lists are generated after the banners are tagged. I've found the template for the Biography project can be adjusted to display the templage image of a work group, specifically for the British royalty group, as seen on Talk:Alburga page. I'm going to try to get the various multi-national banners to function in the same way, but it'll definitely take a bit of time. I also probably should finish the categorization for the Mexico project now, before I forget about it completely. But that's the kind of template I'm going to try to enact for all the multi-national projects. John Carter (talk) 20:44, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Questions - answers?
[edit]Regarding having the banners ready, there might not be a problem, although they might later get deleted. No lists of work group articles yet, though. And regarding automatic assessment, it can be done, and several projects do it already, basically copying an existing assessment or automatic stub assessment of articles using a stub template. It would probably take a specific request to do so for a specific project, though. John Carter (talk) 21:34, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- If one wanted to start, maybe the best place to start would be Central America. Many of those articles are already assessed, just not given the work group tags yet. If you were to file a bot request to tag articles for various work groups by category, Betacommandbot does that fairly well. It just demands listing every category individually. But, with the smaller countries, there might not be that many. Just be careful of categories that overlap national borders; those you'll probably have to go through by hand, like I'm doing with Mesoamerica. Anything you could do would be extremely welcome, though. John Carter (talk) 21:50, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- The problem with separate national banners, although I like the idea in general, is taht they will almost certainly be shot down or be argued for merger later. This would be particularly a problem when boundaries are fluid, thus placing locations in more than one country, or for articles which cross national boundaries, thus requiring multiple banners. But it is a reasonable question, and I'm not sure myself of what would be best. I'm going to leave a message on the talk page of the WikiProject Council and ask for some input there. I have a feeling that they might know a lot more about this sort of thing than I do. John Carter (talk) 22:03, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Banners
[edit]They are added, as they're constructed right now they're just not displayed in all cases, and you have to hit the "see also" or whatever link at the lower right. I'm still trying to adapt either the Hinduism banner, which shows subprojects as separate templates above the main banner, or the Biography banner as above. That's going to take a while, though. John Carter (talk) 22:32, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Argentina map
[edit]Hi, I've just been looking at the Dutch version nl:Bahía Blanca (stad) and noticed that the infobox is specific to Argentina. I'm going to have a go at figuring out how to add in the best bits of the placebox designed by Pablo Flores (post code & telephone links) with the Dutch version (map generation and inclusion of the IFAM link). I'll let you know how I'm getting on. King of the NorthEast 00:32, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- I just made a few modifications to the infobox on Azul, Buenos Aires Province, its better, but not as good as the Dutch version, if only I could understand Dutch I'd have a better chance of understanding what they've done to create the 2nd map. BTW how come you moved all those pages from xxx, Buenos Aires to xxx, Buenos Aires Province? I'm not sure I agree with the moves because it's not like there are places called Azul or Zárate in Capital Federal so there's not really any need for further clarification. King of the NorthEast 01:29, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- This is the state of the infobox with Argentina specific parameters used on Tres Isletas. I'll use it on new articles and articles without placeboxes and then go through and replace the old placeboxes at a later date. I think its more important to create new articles for departmental capitals than worry about which type of infobox is being used. Regards, King of the NorthEast 16:07, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah I can tag em, not sure about how important they are though, maybe mid for cities and 1st level municipalities and low for everything else. Definately stubs though. King of the NorthEast 16:27, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

- Up to the project, I suppose; it's easy enough to default either way. If you have many articles that fall under multiple groups, though, you're likely to see complaints about template bloat if you default the tags to being shown. Kirill 16:27, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Question on photos from Charles Fred (from Flickr)
[edit]I noticed that you uploaded alot of photos from Charles Fred (Flickr user) as GFDL, while most of his photos appear to be various (illegal) CC licenses. Did he Email you this permission and, if so, does WP:OTRS have it? If that's the case, I'm thinking that they should have an OTRS/PermissionRecieved notice on them (Since they've been uploaded to Commons now). Thanx, 68.39.174.238 (talk) 20:29, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

...for your support in my recently closed Request for Adminship. I am more than a bit stunned by the outcome, which appears to have finished at 146 supports, no opposes, and one abstention. I am particularly grateful to Keilana and Kingboyk for their recent encouragement, and most specifically to Pastordavid, for having seen fit to nominate me. I also want to make it very clear to everyone that I have no intentions of changing my name again, so the servers should be safe for a while.
In the event you ever believe that I would ever able to assist in the future, I would be honored if you were to contact me regarding the matter. I can't guarantee results, unfortunately, but I will do what I can. Thank you again.
By the way, I know the image isn't necessarily appropriate, but I am rather fond of it, and it at least reflects the degree of honor I feel at the result. And it's hard to go wrong with a Picture of the Year candidate.
Now, off to a few last tasks before starting work in earnest on the various templates I promised I'd work on.
I swear I'll get to the banners soon now. John Carter (talk) 21:53, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Rollback
[edit]Hello Blofeld of SPECTRE, I've granted rollback rights to your account. The reason for this is that, after a review of some of your contributions, I can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended use of reverting vandalism: I do not believe you will abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck. Acalamari 19:43, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- You're welcome. :) Yes, you do create a lot of new pages: I think I read somewhere that you have created more new articles than anyone else: impressive work. However, to my knowledge, I don't know of anything that will automatically mark articles you create as patrolled. It's possible that there may be a user script, but I don't know if anyone has written one like that. Acalamari 19:55, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestion. Anyway, Shshshsh does a lot of reverts, and many good, but there are some I reviewed which didn't look like vandalism reversion to me and I believe there should have been an explanation to the reverts, see [12], [13], and [14]. In those reverts, I think he should have left a reason in the edit summary to why he reverted them. Rollback is supposed to be for reverting vandalism only, and if an edit may require an explanation, rollback shouldn't be used, as rollback doesn't leave any explanation other than "reverted edits by X to last version by Y". I think with Shshshsh, I'll leave a note on his talk page first before granting him rollback. Acalamari 21:20, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Happy for you friend.:) I cannot say that I'm a big fan of metal, because I'm more into melodious (including rock) ballads, Hindi Ghazals, new wave music (I LOVE Enigma), Country, Blues, etc. BTW, just saw some beautiful performances of Whitney Houston on youtube. WOW, what an amazing voice. Her "I Will Always Love You" version is fantastic. Has she really damaged her voice over the past few years? Is it true? Shahid • Talk2me 20:31, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oh this one??? Ha ha ha I love this song. This is the kind of music I like. I meant that I didn't like immensely noisy songs such as that of Metalica, but I definitely like even hard rock when it comes to good music. For example, Aerosmith's "Crazy" is one of my favorite songs... I love Roxete, Guns N Roses (Ballads), Scopions. I'm a very western guy when it comes to music and films. Don't get the wrong impression of me :)
- Just a little poll question LOL... Who is according to you the better singer? Whitney or Mariah? Shahid • Talk2me 21:13, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- Three Divas! Celine is brilliant. Yes, she is at times too noisy ha ha ha... Just kidding. According to me, Whitney's voice is much more soul than Mariah's, although I like Mariah's screams and shrieks too!!! Both of them have range, different singing style, and their collaboration is great as it can be seen here. And this is according to me the best perdormance for "I will Always love you".
- In any case, Shania Twain is the best !!!!!! :))))) Shahid • Talk2me 21:30, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oh great! I like Bon Jovi's "Always" it bring back old memories. And November Rain!!!!!!!1 Of course! How could I forget it?
- And Scorpions... Wind of Change, Holiday etc... are all time great!
- And Adams' Everything I do!!! So romantic. It was a huge chartbuster wow...
- I generally like very much singers with husky voices, eg. Tina Turner, Bonnie Tyler, and Brian himself... Oh and Michael Bolton... Shahid • Talk2me 21:39, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- Congrats friend! Great! Who knows, maybe, with some great work you end up with an FAC for these articles. LOL Don't you like Madonna?:) Shahid • Talk2me 14:30, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry friend I can't find it. I've seen Kala Bazar and this one doesn't seem to be that one. BTW, finally created an article for child actor Darsheel Safary. His performance in Aamir Khan's directorial debut Taare Zameen Par is HUGELY acclaimed and you can't even imagine how much. Now there are talks that he deserves a National Film Award for this role. What do you think? Does the article have a chance at DYK? Shahid • Talk2me 15:00, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- Well the third ref states that he is 11 years old. But who knows... Shahid • Talk2me 15:04, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- Do you have some DYK question idea for this article? I always get confused. I can't get if it has to be related directly to him or not. In the Bravery Awards, it wasn't. Shahid • Talk2me 18:35, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- You're right. A DYK question seems unlikely for this article. In fact, I have nothing else to add, because he is very young and still a newcomer. That's not that I've created an article for some veteran actor. Regards, Shahid • Talk2me 19:14, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- Without a bias and very honestly, your version looks thousand times better! Really! Why don't you restore your table? It seems like you had worked hard on it. Shahid • Talk2me 13:27, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Why don't you do something? Restore it, argue with them. It's unfair! Shahid • Talk2me 13:36, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Well, you have worked very hard, and I think your versions are much better, but if you don't really care, good for you!:) Forget it. Regards, Shahid • Talk2me 13:59, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Great image! Thanks.. I don't really know if he is going to continue his work now. He is still at school, so who knows. Shahid • Talk2me 14:43, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Great article, as always! Needs some expansion, but still great and pleasing to the eye. You know, most of the stubs that are created on Wikipedia look terrible, and your articles always look good:). Haven't you still created a braglist of your creations? You can update it gradually. Regards, Shahid • Talk2me 23:35, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- I you create a braglist, I will help you update it:) Shahid • Talk2me 13:39, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- You don't remember? Ha ha ha! That's the main problem with brilliant editors like, who have created over 12,000 articles LOL!!!! You have written so many articles, that you don't remember three-quarters of them! Shahid • Talk2me 13:51, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- LOL nice article. It doesn't matter how long it is. In fact, what else can you add about a dog whose only notability is being featured in the Guinness?? LOL! Shahid • Talk2me 14:10, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- Just to note, there is a library next to my house, but I really doubt that there are old articles and newspapers/magazines there. In fact, I don't visit the library at all. I have a lot of books at my home in Mumbai. I miss my home... but circumstances force me to stay here for some more time... I was going to comeback in January and start my uni enrollment, but our plans have been hampered... Good luck with your work! Shahid • Talk2me 15:00, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
Templates
[edit]Currently creating categories and bot taagging lists for the projects which have already had the banner altered, basically meaning European Microstates and then Southeast Asia. After that, I'll probably work on the South America banner, trying to see if I can get it to display only the task force category banner, like the Biography banner does for the British Royalty work group. I'm basically choosing it because I think with the comparatively small number of work groups, it should be a bit easier than the others. If and when I get that to work, then that'll be more or less copied for the Caribbean, Western Asia, Central Asia, and Africa projects. With a lot of luck, the final banner adjustments should for Africa and the others should be late this week or early next. John Carter (talk) 15:39, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Localisation
[edit]Hey Blofeld, I thought that was a good point you made the other week on Jimbo's talk-page about the lack of localisation for Wikipedia articles on "faraway" places. As you probably saw, I especially agreed with the way editors on Commons appear to be more trigger-happy than they are here. It's a shame I think. Ekantik talk 01:12, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Images
[edit]Sorry - it's just that the GAC requested less Fair Use images. I didn't knew who to contact or warn for this, so I removed the ones I felt contributed least. But now the article passed, and only 9 (8 if The World Is Not Enough passes) films left to improve. igordebraga ≠ 12:42, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
OTRS image query
[edit]Regarding your recent message, you'll have to excuse me for any delay in responding to you but you should understand that I do have other commitments beyond editing Wikipedia of which my job is a significant one.
The idea is not that you email any information to me, instead you should email it to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org so it can be stored in OTRS and reviewed as necessary by other OTRS volunteers to confirm the permission.
You've previously said that you've "forwarded my email to the permission branch of wikipedia -its up to them to sort out the OTRS ticketing now" however your recent comments suggest this isn't actually the case so my attempt at finding the email in the system was pointless.
Please forward any emails relating to permission to the email address above where they will be dealt with by me or another OTRS volunteer. If you'd like me to continue dealing with this then let me know the email address from which you forward any messages to Wikimedia and then I can look them up easier. Regards. [edit]Thank you for your work on the museum lists. You did a lot of the initial work on the List of museums in Connecticut, which I and another Connecticut editor have been adding considerably to. I appreciate your contributions on the other museums lists as well. I didn't know about sortable lists before. Is there a place on Wikipedia where I can go to find out how to make one from scratch? I might want to create one for List of high schools in Connecticut, which doesn't work very well right now. Best, Noroton (talk) 18:21, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, the List of high schools in Connecticut is very likely full. What I want to eventually do is make it a sortable list. I'll have no problem getting the Connecticut data, but I don't know where to go to find out how to create a sortable list from scratch. Is there a spot you could point me to on Wikipedia that shows how that's done? Thanks again for your work. Noroton (talk) 18:33, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oh! I didn't know it was THAT easy! I thought I had to punch in something much more complex. Got it. Thanks! Noroton (talk) 18:50, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

District infoboxes
[edit]Hi! Well, I know, these navboxes are pretty useful, and they create more mutual links to pages to save them from becoming "orphaned articles", but it's not my invention with the navigation templates :-) I copied the idea from Template:Germany districts bavaria or Template:Orange County, California, which are used for most developped countries. PS: IMHO, you perhaps should use the "state=collapsed" parameter, especially for the two navboxes you gave me as an example, which are very big, compared with the size of the articles, as even large articles have these boxes collapsed, except if they're small... But that's only my opinion. Greets, --escondites 19:02, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- For Oran District, it redirects to Oran muncipality as they're coextensive, and for the census data, I got it from this site, which uses Algerian census data. --escondites 19:49, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
A complete hash of those lists
[edit]"Several editors are making a complete hash of those lists."
That may very well be. But once we get our plans organized, there will be a lot of us working to straighten all of that out. We'll make these lists way better than their current, and possibly deteriorating state. I encourage you to express your opinions on the main talk page. You made a lot of decisions and changes on your own, some of which appear that they may be kept and others that may be removed or altered. I really would like to hear your input.
I know that you like to do everything as quickly and efficiently as possible and these articles are "rotting" right now, so to speak, but it's in everybody's best interest to take our time with this. We will catch back up when the discussion is complete. There really is nothing to worry about. Ben Boldt (talk) 23:11, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Filmography navboxes redux
[edit]Hi. I've been through and checked the film actor navboxes at Film actor templates and, acting on our discussing about Gene Hackman, nominated for deletion all the ones that are repetitions or serve no further purpose. If you wouldn't mind, could you look in and give your opinion on the deletions? There have been a couple dissenting opinions. Thanks! Wildhartlivie (talk) 11:17, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Infoboxes
[edit]Dear Sir Blofeld: You have done a great job on the infoboxes! Sorry I will have to beg out from helping for a while though. I am visiing friends and they only have a dial-up service (if you remember what those were like!) and daughters attending university - so my time on-line is rather limited at the moment. I don't think I'll get a chance to do much until I return home (probably in the 1st or 2nd week of Feb). Sorry! I wish I could be of more help. Cheers, John Hill (talk) 23:55, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- Sincere apologies for misplacing this note. Put it down many years of advancing brain damage - I turned 65 just a few days ago! There is only so much one poor brain can handle! John Hill (talk) 09:12, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
C'est la vie Wikipedie
[edit]A while back, after getting extremely frustrated when other editors were able to frustrate my far superior conception of what Wikipedia should be, I decided that I had to accept that. Sometimes you're able to convince people, sometimes you don't do it right and sometimes their minds are not going to open up. And then sometimes I find I'm wrong but don't ever tell anybody I said that. Noroton (talk) 17:04, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Kai Tak Airport
[edit]I think the old airport hotel is located in Kowloon City District. Nearby San Po Kong belongs to Wong Tai Sin District. I'm not sure where the boundaries lie, but I'm pretty sure it's quite a distance from Kwun Tong District. HkCaGu (talk) 06:38, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
PD-Italy
[edit]The problem with PD-Italy is that it only applies to files created pre-1941 - thus they may not be PD in all countries, only in Italy. It's safer to use files which are public domain in US too, and use PD-Italy ones under fair use. That's why there isn't a PD-Italy template on Commons, because they may be unfree.
As for OTRS, I haven't had a chance to check in a while, but please send them in and I'll try to process them ASAP :) Hope you're well too. ~ Riana ⁂ 15:39, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Africa template
[edit]The template is currently ready. The categories aren't yet though, and generally have to be created separately. That'll still take awhile. Also, if you are interested, I've made a proposal at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject reform#Single Banner? which might potentially relate to this subject. John Carter (talk) 18:13, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- You have a point regarding displaying the groups. The question there is whether there is a way to draw the line automatically or not. For instance, if a given river flowed through ten countries, every country involved would reasonably think that their particular project should be specifically displayed below, which would just make the one banner take up as much space as three or four do today. If I can figure out a way to make an automatic cut-off at some point, though, your proposal would be the way to go, and I am going to try to see if there is any such way. John Carter (talk) 18:30, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
Banner
[edit]Libya's done already. The category structure can be found in Category:Libya articles and its subcats. Just create those categories and pages substituting in the name of the country, and it should work fine. Just make sure to add the "Category:Wikipedia 1.0 assessments]] to the articles by quality and articles by importance categories or the assessments won't get done. And the three "Wikipedia:Version ..." pages listed under the Category:Libya articles by quality have to get created too. Egypt we might leave alone because they seem to have actively done some assessments, but South Africa hasn't yet and would probably welcome the help. I'm working on Chad right now. John Carter (talk) 19:22, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- The countries that seem to already have assessment structures are Egypt, Ethiopia, Morocco, Nigeria, and Tunisia, so I'd leave those five alone for right now. Also, one could create categories for the French Africa, Madeira, Saint Helena, and Spanish Africa work groups, following the same naming patterns. John Carter (talk) 19:31, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- The work groups are each designed so that eventually the assessments there will be able to function for both Africa and whatever country they're governed by, thus saving banner duplication. And the Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Spanish Africa work group is for the Canary Islands, Ceuta, and Melilla. It was the only name I could think of to refer to them all. John Carter (talk) 19:53, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- On conclusion, I figure to add the articles of the Spanish Africa group as subcats of that project's existing assessment scheme, thus allowing the one assessment to function for both. The Spain project has been advised of the work group as well, although I admit I forgot to advise them earlier. John Carter (talk) 20:18, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, it's impossible to move categories. The categories which that group will use will all be Category:Benin articles, and those categories you mentioned will all have to be deleted. Samples of the categories to be used can be found in the category section of User talk:John Carter/Sandbox, and should follow that format. The Unassessed articles should be the only ones of the quality categories not specifically incorporating the word "-Class" in their name, like "Start-Class Benin articles". If you look at the categories and pages in the Category:Libya articles, just substitute the name of the country for the one in there in the name and the categories it's placed in, and it should all work out. But you are right, the categories you mentioned will have to be deleted. John Carter (talk) 20:39, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- User:ProveIt's just changed the name of the parent categories, so that's why the name you indicated is going to have to be used. I think it might actually work best, given the changes, if I stop the Chad tagging and actually do all the categories myself, as I myself am not sure what all has changed as a result. John Carter (talk) 20:47, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit]I'm no journalist, no shitty failed writer. I've never even tried to ever write a book. I'm a science student. I don't know Banker and actually, quite admire his Ramayana series. I have nothing against him. I'm just another editor trying to add whatever little bit I can to WP, and this is what I get for it.
I haven't done the things I'm being blamed for. My only blame is trying to clean up an article which had been turned into a fan/personal page by Banker and his friends. Now my name (and indirectly my identity and character) is being dragged through the mud by Banker.
What am I supposed to do? How am I supposed to clear thing thing up?
Maybe RickK was right, There is a fatal flaw in the system. Vandals, trolls and malactors are given respect, whereas those who are here to actually create an encyclopedia, and to do meaningful work, are slapped in the face and not given the support needed to do the work they need to do.
There is no reason to continue here.
-xC- 19:26, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
The link suggested by Banker and his friends is [15]
Now lets see whats wrong with this -
- Its all written in a single block. It needs to be in sections to be in line with manual of style for WP articles.
- Phrases like "was earlier known as" and "well-known for his" - known by whom? where are the refs for these self-publicising claims?
- the bibliography has around a dozen titles TBA (to be announced). Theres no place for these in the article, no crystal gazing on WP.
- Half the external links cannot be accessed, or redirect to a blank page
- Phrases such as "He's also said to be working on an " - who said he is working on them? where is the ref for this?
- All the refs in the initial portion of the article are from 'Epic India .com', which is a site run by him. More importantly, none of them have any content on them. They just have the words 'epicindia.com' written. For example, 12
- Therefore I don't find any reliable sources stating anything which has been mentioned as sourced.
I'm just tired of it. I'm tired of continously fixing it and then being accused of destroying the article.-xC- 19:57, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
I don't know. Am I wrong in doing this... is it possible you could make the required changes? Or at least explain why that older revision isn't suitable on the article talk page. I refuse to edit the article any further.-xC- 20:03, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- I completely understand. No problem friend.
- I've posted the same reasons above on the article talk page. Lets see how it goes. -xC- 09:12, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
Tania Zaetta
[edit]Of course I know her. She is very very famous here...
Yes she played Zinta's best friend in Salaam Namaste. A great film BTW, very modern... It's available on youtube... The whole film!! (in parts).. See this part [16]... You'll like it. They're both so hot!!!
Regards, Shahid • Talk2me 19:26, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- Awesome!!!! Just like you are happy when I create articles, I'm happy when you do that. I was going to respond, but you removed your message... So I thought you are no longer interested in reading a reply...:)
- Oh I feel very weak these days... Yesterday I had a serious fever, but I feel better now.
- GREAT articles. It's sad that so many people who seem to be notable don't get the recognition they deserve. In the very beginning, I thought Wikipedia covered every possible notable person. Only now I get how it misses. Your articles is great. I see one of them has died recently. Sad:(
- How are you?
- Shahid • Talk2me 13:05, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yeh I know, I heard about it yesterday. It has been poblicised on all over the country. Yeh that's sad. Young, talented and very promising actor indeed. That's it. I still can't get, why? how? Shahid • Talk2me 13:23, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yeh it is indeed horrible. I hope youngsters do get the matter with this death. It's a pitty; he was yet to prove himself. What are you doing these days? Do you have any plans on here? I would love to create some articles (I have time today), but I feel very bad, so I don't think I will be able to do that. I think I'll have to do that some time later. What about you? Regards, Shahid • Talk2me 13:35, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- he he he LOL, that's what I'm saying. Changeable weather conditions always make me feel weak. I hate being ill in the summer, though my fever has nothing to do with the weather right now.. It's just me, especially in Melb. All the People I know are on the beach now, considering it's the hottest city in the country (I guess so from what I have seen here). That's what drives me crazy. In the summer, it's the hottest, in the winter the, it's the coldest. But overall I like this oceanic climate, although I'm not accustomed to very cold days.
- So have you seen this part from Salaam Namaste? Zinta is so hot here, and so is Tania. I've been there... How could I miss Zinta? Have you seen it? Shahid • Talk2me 14:06, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- I really suggest you to see this short slideshow video of Zinta. It starts with the image you showed me now, and ends with some amazing images. I particularly like the ones from 1:00 to 1:10 (especially the thirs one among the three). Please see that and tell me what you think. Shahid • Talk2me 14:21, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oh yeh Britt Ekland I think she's beautiful. Blunt's voice is indeed irritating, vut I like the song. Shahid • Talk2me 14:35, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- LOLLLLLLL exactly!!!!!! That was a good one! I thik he sucks in every frame. All his songs are flops, apart from this one. Shahid • Talk2me 14:47, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- LOL I see... That's exactly what happens in such cases: nobody cares, and once it is created, everybody is editing it. I really think you have to create a braglist. You also have many DYKs to your name don't you? Shahid • Talk2me 10:02, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- It's so great! Please, I ask you beseechingly: please please create a braglist. You will update it gradually, I'll help you. Please do so, so that I can go through it when I have some leisure and read your beautiful, beautiful articles. How can you create such informative articles so fast? It's just amazing! Shahid • Talk2me 18:28, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- If you don't create a braglist, I'll do it for you!!
- One moment, I'll try that. Shahid • Talk2me 18:38, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- No you're not one of these arrogant editors who think that they are the best with just adding a new title etc. It doesn't necessarily mean that you are going to work hard to expand it... in fact, you already have too many articles to your name.
- It is just a format. It is very useful. As you said, you do not use a watchlist. With having braglist, you can also go through your articles, and see wherever copyedit, correction and clan-up is needed.
- Nice format. It looked better that the other ones, and it doesn't take ages to become accustomed to it. But there is only one problem with this format --- my popups don't work!!!! Shahid • Talk2me 18:53, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:WalterBryanEmery.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 08:53, 21 January 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 08:53, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- There seems to be no information here about the original source of this image or who actually holds the copyright. I doubt that calgarycoin.com is the copyright holder of this image. By item 10(a) of the non-free content criteria, we need attribution of the copyright holder of the image. Please let me know if you have any questions. —Bkell (talk) 08:53, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

French communes
[edit]Hi there! I've been creating the "difficult" articles (ambiguous names etc.) of the Aisne and Allier departments, so others can do the rest easily, for instance with AWB. Not sure whether I'm going to do that for all departments though, 36000+ municipalities is a bit much. I've seen your tracks here as well... Markussep Talk 22:05, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- I completed Ain and Alpes-Maritimes yesterday, if you like you can do Aisne or Allier (Wikidudeman started doing Aisne with AWB). Markussep Talk 22:12, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Stavro, thanks for adding communes articles, but... there's a problem. You should not use {{PAGENAME}} but {{subst:PAGENAME}}. Could you fix that please? Markussep Talk 14:56, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- If you're looking for a new French department to do: Hautes-Alpes is ready for you. I'm gradually working my way down the list, in the order of the French department numbers (Hautes-Alpes is 05). Markussep Talk 16:18, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- OK, but you're going much faster than I can. Besides, I'm still working on Austria and Germany, and I do have other things to do. Actually, it's not bad if you go ahead and create articles for all red links. You won't create "bad" articles that way, and if they have to be moved to make way for a disambiguation page, that's no big deal. Or I can teach you my "clearing" method. Places
[edit]I have one potential reservation. Some of these locations might have some difficulty being established as meeting WP:NOTABILITY guidelines, particular for references in the English language, and based on what little I know they might be considered for deletion. I've placed a request for clarification at Wikipedia talk:Notability#Notability of places? and hope we hear something soon there. That's the only reservation I can honestly imagine, though. Good work! John Carter (talk) 18:20, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- Notability generally means non-trivial mention in two sources, so you're probably basically right that most places have been mentioned in at least two reliable sources. But that doesn't mean that someone might not try to delete them anyway, if those sources aren't indicated up front. John Carter (talk) 18:29, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Bolivia
[edit]Personally, I don't doubt that they are. The question is whether others will agree, or maybe nominate them for deletion. And, personally, it wasn't so much the larger areas like those I was thinking of so much as the various places in Category:Settlements in Mayotte and the like I was primarily thinking of. And I have seen some fairly strange AfDs, so I think it might be possible someone would try to nominate these as well. But if you place a banner on them almost immediately, even if they are deleted they'll appear as red links in the log, and it'll be possible to request deletion review later. John Carter (talk) 20:01, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- I know about the multiple names. Believe me. You know how many "Saint Paul"s and "Saint John"s there are, including people, locations, buildings, and so on? And I think I heard some years ago that their are 30 or more "Greenvilles" or some similar name in Tennessee alone. For those purposes, creating some disambiguation pages would probably work. And my complements on that article. If that's the quality of article you create, I seriously doubt there will be many nominated for deletion. And I wish you the best of good luck with getting more photos like those or others. They would be wonderfully useful. John Carter (talk) 21:50, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
South America banner
[edit]Yep, it's probably next. I'm also going to try to incorporate the code allowing for different importance parameters for the work group and the parent project, considering this one will deal with fewer countries. Right now, I just noticed that a major group of release nominations still hasn't been reviewed, most about figures from the developing world. As I'm one of the few people who seem to do such reviews, they may take a day or so. John Carter (talk) 22:56, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ocean's Eleven1960.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Ocean's Eleven1960.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. I'd promised myself that I'd spend more time editing and less playing "whack-a-vandal" and damned if I'm not doing just the opposite. In fact, it's become difficult to even add new content. Hey Blofeld, I had some free time, so I decided to expand Rani Mukerji's career section. LOL, currently all of the edits on the history's first page are from me. - Thanks Blofeld for the kind words. Yeah, I did try to keep the article neutral that's why I did an analysis of certain films on Talk: Rani Mukerji to give the majority opinion but I wasn't able to find certain reviews that Shahid did. His edits on the page has helped the article become better. --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 20:13, 26 January 2008
- So basically, you're saying that for example if three reviews say something like, "AB performed the role with utmost conviction" while some say, "AB hams throughout the script and seriously needs to take acting lessons." [edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Ottrott, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}

South America banner
[edit]The draft model is at User:John Carter/Sandbox 2. Given the number of articles that banner will deal with though I tried to work on the Antarctica banner first, which only has about 2000 articles. Chile map
[edit]Vertically, it takes up a fair amount of space, but like you said that's more or less unavoidable given the shape of the country in question. Tagging
[edit]As soon as the banners get done, I'm hoping to get Betacommandbot to run amok tagging all the relevant articles for all the relevant projects. That should take care of a lot of the existing undertagging around the world. Chile
[edit]Responses: I didn't know Sao Tome and Principe has been remade a work group. My intention was that every independent nation would have its group given the full WikiProject name, while dependencies would be named work groups, so that they could indicate which projects they were subprojects of, generally the continental project and the Project of the nation of which they are a territory. Regarding categories, at this point I don't know how to change the categories of the banner to individually conform to those of existing project's assessments, so that the names for the projects' categories as per the banner more or less have to be consistent across the board. Also, as the newer category has more quality subcategories, this way it may be possible ultimately to deprecate the older, national banner entirely. In short, I don't know at this point how to adjust the categories of the South American banner to fit all the different kinds of category names of the existing projects. It is my hope that in time when Betacommandbot tags all the articles which haven't yet been tagged, the members of that project may decide, in the interests of clearer assessments and reduced banner clutter, to adopt the continental banner, which will have been placed on all the articles relative to their project that they haven't yet tagged. If they don't, possibly by that time I'll be able to adjust the categories so that both banners will feed into one set of categories. Alternately, at that point, I might adjust the categories of the national project banner to conform to those of the continental banner. But, basically, at this point, I don't know how to adjust the banners to take into account the variant categorization names of the existing projects. John Carter (talk) 21:59, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Go ahead with the tagging. Regarding the new categories, unfortunately, that person also changed the categories of the four Africa work groups to "WikiProject" categories. I remember now that it was an individual from the extant Chad WikiProject, which didn't previously have assessments, disliking the name and changing the names of the categories in the banner on his own. I'm hoping to find a way to introduce different categories for the Projects and work groups, because in all honesty "WikiProject Saint Pierre and Miquelon" sounds kind of silly to me, particularly since the group is named Wikipedia:WikiProject France/Saint Pierre and Miquelon work group. If and when I can figure how to adjust the banner to permit different phrasings of names, I intend to do so. John Carter (talk) 22:23, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Probable optimum phrasing would be {{WikiProject Central Asia|class=|importance=|Kyrgyzstan=yes|Kyrgyzsan-importance=}}. That allows for the daughter projects to have their own separate importance assessments as well. John Carter (talk) 22:30, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- I honestly doubt it'll get any real dedicated members, but at least this way the France project will know that they have a lot of articles about a small place in generally bad condition. Also, if there's one editor there, and, yes, that's a big if, they'll more easily be able to determine which articles are relevant to their area. And Tahiti should fall in the Wikipedia:WikiProject Polynesia/French Polynesia work group. John Carter (talk) 22:34, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, yeah. The Saint Pierre and Miquelon group is the only one that doesn't have a specific continental project, and it is I think the only regularly-inhabited foreign territory in North America. It felt a little weird making it the only one "left out" of having a dedicated group though. John Carter (talk) 22:51, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

So many pages...
[edit]I think what you are doing with the French village/commune articles is great, its much easier for users to expand existing articles than it is to start one from scratch. But in the future, if you're going to create thousands of pages at a rate of multiple per minute, would you mind applying for a bot flag? Bot articles won't show up on recent changes, can be filtered out of newpages, and are automatically patrolled. Mr.Z-man 22:54, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hm, the main issue I can see, if you aren't actually using a bot, people might not be willing to grant a bot flag. You could ask someone on the bot approvals group though. Mr.Z-man 23:04, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- The creation of so many pages is outstanding, but for the speed of editing, I would suggest creating a bot account, perhaps User:BlofeldBot or something like that. I would be happy to Speedy Approve it for you if you want, and get it flagged for you. ~ Dreamy § 23:59, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- (ec)I'm not in BAG, but I responded there. My main suggestion if you want to keep all your edits on 1 account would be some sort of script that auto-patrols your mass-adds. I'd suggest Wikipedia talk:WikiProject User scripts as a place to file a request or contact User:AzaToth who is something of a master scripter. MBisanz talk 00:02, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
US Museum discussions
[edit]I've asked Ben Boldt to comment on the discussion at Talk:List of museums in the United States when he gets back. But yes I also have some weird allergies... to ... citrus fruits! Oranges in particular... I get that unpleasant feeling in my skin!! Ohh and I don't like pineapples!!
See this LOL [17]... They're rich!

- Oh my heavens! You have had almost 1,000 edits today!!! Shahid • Talk2me 17:17, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- Ha ha ha!!! No I haven't seen the film, and uite frankly, seeing the clown, I'm happy that I haven't! LOL! Hey that's great work what you're doing! Shahid • Talk2me 20:11, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- No I haven't... Please give me an image, so that I can drool like you do LOL... How are you???? Shahid • Talk2me 13:04, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- O---M---G!!!!!!!!! Shahid • Talk2me 13:11, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- WOW she's so HOT! I think there is something irresistible about eastern woman in western and modern outfits... Amazing! Shahid • Talk2me 13:18, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- She's very hot.. Is she talented as well? Shahid • Talk2me 14:08, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- Another FA.... Your take on it??? Shahid • Talk2me 16:49, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- That's what hurts me the most... So much of hard work from you, Dwaipayanc, John and myself, and no GA reviewer appears in the area to review it and give it at least the well deserved GA status... I'm so sad when I see that. One GA reviewer reviewed it and said that it's definitely a GA, but he didn't list it because, as per him, it's not fair that an article will be listed whereas other articles are waiting for reviews and are nominated for a GA for longer period, as if it mattered at all... Well I don't care... Oh that's all because of our dear POV pushers... If they hadn't come across this article to ruin others' work, it would definitely have remained GA... Shahid • Talk2me 17:10, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- All true:)--Shahid • Talk2me 17:20, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- She's just stunning!!!! So sexy OMGG... thanx for sharing LOL!!! Shahid • Talk2me 18:03, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- I definitely do..:) I think it's great that you like women of a more exotic nature, our tastes are very similar:) Shahid • Talk2me 18:21, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- I think we share the same taste in exotic looking women. Don't you think? Shahid • Talk2me 18:37, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- Have you visited Australia? Shahid • Talk2me 20:59, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi friend! What did you mean? I just have the problem that popups windows don't show up... Shahid • Talk2me 15:35, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- No they still don't work... Nevertheless, I'm satisfied with the default version. You know, as a person, I'm someone who finds drastic changes very difficult to deal with... LOL Shahid • Talk2me 15:42, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- It's OK... Just thought to let you know! I'm also extremely busy in real life... I don't think a reply is needed there at all.:) Shahid • Talk2me 16:03, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Great name! I don't really understand, what is the purpose of having a bot? What does it do? Shahid • Talk2me 11:50, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know... I think he came to ruin and disappear again...
- See the article of Reese Witherspoon. It's surely going to be promoted today or tomorrow. Great article, and you won't believe this: there is no even one negative review.
- BTW, she has worked with Mira Nair too. Yes, this Indian who makes us so proud there in the USA! Shahid • Talk2me 12:36, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Sandy, the lady of the strong oppose in Zinta's last FAC, says it's ready to become an FAC (I asked her). Now we have to wait for a GA reviewer to make a final review, and then, within two-three weeks or so, we can renominate it for FA... Great, no? Shahid • Talk2me 12:41, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yeh I know. Really great! I read it already:) What about Reese's article? Did you like it? Shahid • Talk2me 13:24, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- GREAT! Congrats! Good luck! Shahid • Talk2me 14:08, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oh I think I misunderstand something here... What is a bot? I thought it works independently... Otherwise, what's the sense using a bot as just another account? Shahid • Talk2me 15:11, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hehe this "$1,000,000?" is so funny! I like your sense of humour LOL...--Shahid • Talk2me 15:29, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- LOL!!!
- I would like to know your opinion on the following:
- "The film was both a major financial and critical success. It became the biggest hit of the year as well as Zinta's highest grossing movie to date, with a domestic gross of Rs 489 million;[25] and, among other awards, won the Filmfare Best Film Award."
- What do you think? Does it sound well?
- Regards, Shahid • Talk2me 15:48, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- It's not KANK, it's Koi Mil Gaya... No, Sandy just commented in general. She just said it's ready to become a FAC... Shahid • Talk2me 15:57, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- OMG LOL!!!
- Well, after my experience with the Zinta article, I don't really think I want to work on some article for this particular purpose. I'm yet to complete my work on the Salman Khan article, Manisha Koirala's one etc. I want to start working on the pages of Tabbu, Karisma Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit etc. You know, GA is just not as easy as it seems to be, so I think I'd rather try to expand and improve rather than trying to concentrate on one goal: a GA!! Believe me, when I'm not thinking of it, the results are way better. Shahid • Talk2me 19:54, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- The very beautiful and talented Miss Zinta is 33 today!!!!!!!! Shahid • Talk2me 08:42, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- HEYY!!! How have you been? I had a long tiring day!!! Udita to be quite honest, I don't find her too sexy... She is a bit wicked and misses gentleness... I'll start the article later. What are you doing now? Shahid • Talk2me 16:25, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hey it's GREAT work what you're doing. I'm happy that we now can also have wikilinks to years in the filmo, so that we are not deprived compared to Bollywood. I personally think it's just a shame that these X in year pages don't include Bollywood films but only American films. That's unfair... Nevertheless... Do you really think that KANK is up for a GA? I doubt it! On the other hand, the Oscar-nominated Lagaan is a GA and was a FAC for two days!!!! Another shameless act... After only one week and two editors opposing, the article was not promoted. What do you say about that? Shahid • Talk2me 16:45, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- Eh? Which lists are you talking about? Shahid • Talk2me 21:19, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- I think articles assessment is a great recognition of good. Maybe the Preity FA nomination was not a big deal, and as many say, was just "not there yet". What do you think? Shahid • Talk2me 21:26, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- Plus, I think you have done a marvelous job on KANK, it looks so much better, that I have the feeling that it was a stub before your amazing work!!!:))))) Shahid • Talk2me 21:31, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- All the Bollyblog images are gonna be deleted now... See Sarvagnya's last act! Shahid • Talk2me 21:36, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard#Attn:Admins_-_cpvios_galore - that's it!!! almost all the images have already been removed. Shahid • Talk2me 22:18, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- Do you think restoring the images is possible Blof? Shahid • Talk2me 22:28, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- He will now undelete all the images!!!! Yes!!! Shahid • Talk2me 22:42, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- LOL What? Shahid • Talk2me 12:44, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- I really don't get how come there are problems when everything was quite clear in the very beginning... What's the problem... Thanks anyway, but I'm very very sad that our articles are coming back in these terms... So disheartening... :( Shahid • Talk2me 12:57, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Your bot
[edit]I have created your bot for you, see here. I will e-mail you the password for it, but be sure to change it to something you will remember. ~ Dreamy § 13:56, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Go here and fill out the BRFA form and I will get you approved. I have e-mailed it. ~ Dreamy § 14:06, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Your recent bot approvals request has been approved. Please see the request page for details. When the bot flag is set it will show up in this log. ~ Dreamy § 14:33, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I am getting it flagged currently, it may take some time. ~ Dreamy § 14:37, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- To flag a bot as a bot, you must be a Bureaucrat, which means you must be an administrator first, then a Bureaucrat, which are powers I don't have, I can only approve the bots, or deny them, and then a B'crat will flag it. ~ Dreamy § 16:02, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, and an admin is good, but you must be a B'crat to flag it, see this page to see who can do it. I have requested that Deskana do it. ~ Dreamy § 16:05, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Go here as they need more input for the bot creation, because it is a semi-bot that needs to be flagged as a bot. ~ Dreamy § 20:49, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]...for your kind note about Reese Witherspoon. It's nice to know that my copyediting efforts are appreciated :) Maralia (talk) 23:11, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
