May be even to indulge yourself in the food and drink that abounds at this time of year or even make that occasional visit to a church. What ever you do over the festive season enjoy it and see you next year.

Non-legally binding Santa Clause disclaimer statement: any supposed similarity to the Christmas card sent to you by MarnetteD is purely coincidental. Merry Everything!! (.. I already sent you the Rock Bottom version, didn't I...)
Thanks Martin! ... ermmmm I don't remember you rocking my bottom, but do please remind me? My flaky memory is quite a feature nowadays ... Cheers DBaK (talk) 21:45, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
I wish all my friends and colleagues here a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and/or other seasonal and/or religious event as appropriate, or indeed just a nice few days off and a drink or two – whatever works for you! Happy happy, best wishes to all, DBaK (talk) 16:14, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
Class 47
Yeah, that was confusing for a reader who wasn't familiar with the complexities of the subject. Basically 111 locomotives still exist, 78 as Class 47s and 33 which were converted to 57s. Of the 78, 31 are preserved and 33 are mainline registered, but four of those are actually both, so that's 60 locomotives. 17 are stored unserviceable and 1 was exported to Hungary = 78. Since that's never going in the lede (and the number that are mainline registered can be fluid), I've just simplified it. Black Kite (talk)23:43, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
This list that you have doubts about was constructed by a very obvious sock of User:Politialguru. Along with others, I've addressed their block evading edits at existing articles but was unsure about the best way of addressing an article they had themself compiled and that whether that in itself was a suficient basis to delete the list. As you also have doubts about it, any thoughts? Mutt Lunker (talk) 17:03, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
Ah right – thanks Mutt Lunker – fair enough I suppose, and good luck with your next bit. I suppose if it does survive it will either become useful or get ignored, so no-one will actually die either way ... I was just a bit baffled about what it was for, but ho hum. Tickled to see Benwell mentioned – are you local? – my grandfather was landlord or manager or something at the Benwell Arms (... or Benwell Hotel??) about a zillion years ago. I think it is now something very unglamorous like a carpet warehouse or something. Maybe just waiting for a rich madman to make it a trendy gastropub ... cheers DBaK (talk) 20:11, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
No likelihood of deaths rather sums up the bulk of Politialguru's socks edits. They make numerous, substantial, bafflingly pointless changes, peppered with sufficient actively suspect material that they were blocked but keep coming back for more. Can't remember how they came into my radar but it's not because I'm local. Mutt Lunker (talk) 22:30, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
Sheesh, and thanks. I had a look at some of the LTA stuff last night and very promptly wished that I had not ... best wishes (and good luck!) DBaK (talk) 10:00, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
Update: this is getting very offtopic but I looked at Streetview and it (the ex-boozer) is now a rather nice-looking supermarket with flats above and new dormer windows in the roof. It's in better shape than it has been for a while, so I can probably keep my millions ... DBaK (talk) 10:02, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
Hahaha thank you Martin! Excellent stuff that you created here. The thing I find bizarre is that I don't remember knowing about this story at the time. I am supposed to be a classical music person (OK I was not working in music then but even so) and yet it seems to have floated way over my head. Did you know about it then?? Cheers DBaK (talk) 09:58, 30 December 2021 (UTC)

For spellchecking my article on William Thornton Whitsett. No matter how many times I proofread, I still miss really fundamental errors.
