Welcome to the one hundred and fifty sixth WikiProject Yorkshire monthly newsletter.
Thanks to the contributions of our many members and supporters, WP:YORKS has become a leading local British WikiProject in terms of the total number of articles supported (up from 16,781 last month to 16,840 on 13 April 2021). In the area of GAs WP:YORKS at 202 is ahead of WP:GM who have 87. WP:YORKS also has the lead in FAs at 80 while WP:GM has 70 out of a total number of 4,650 articles.
Currently we have sixty three Yorkshire featured articles:
The number has been kept deliberately low to give us a fighting chance of improving them to at least GA status, also so we can concentrate our efforts on these first.
Delay
Sorry for the delay in publishing this month's newsletter, but I have been out of action without a PC for about 3 weeks. Managed to get it fixed after lockdown eased on 12 April.
WikiProject Yorkshire Collaboration of the Month Project
The April 2021 articles selected below are an editor choice as there were no nominations on the project talk page.
The project is subscribed to a clean-up listing which lists articles tagged with various clean-up tags that need attention. The listing is refreshed by a bot on a regular basis.
Monitoring is essential Use the watchlist to keep an eye on changes to the project's articles so that vandalism and spamming can be removed as quickly as possible.
Moves Please be careful when performing articles moves and ensure that you also move all the talk sub-pages and update any image fair use rational. Otherwise the archives, to-do lists, assessment comments and GA reviews get lost and the image may be deleted as it has an incorrect FUR. You will also have to check that the Commons link is set correctly.
Thanks

Hi! Are you okay with helping me with the article Cueva de las Manos? It's an article I've been working on, and I'm hoping to get it to GA class. I understand if you're too disillusioned, however :) Tyrone Madera (talk) 00:37, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
Tyrone Madera hello, and thank you for the message. I'm very flattered that you think I might be able to help. I will have a look, but I should warn you that I am not sure I can do much – especially since you seem to have been working so hard on it! But I will certainly try to look and see if I can help in any small way with this nice article. It's not so much that I am disillusioned (though I am!) but just my lack of knowledge of the subject and the fact that I am short of time. But I will for sure look in. (In fact I just did, minor ENGVAR thing re metre/meter which you ought to resolve before mad humo[u]rless linguo-nationalists start to resort to threats of violence ...) Cheers DBaK (talk) 07:48, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
DBaK, thanks for having a look, editing, and leaving suggestions! I respect your humble attitude, but just by reviewing the article as an average person you've been a good help. (Collaboration is the key to Wikipedia, after all—I couldn't do it all by myself!) However, if you know some experts that could help, that would be awesome too (I've posted on various Wikiprojects, but to no avail so far). I've been advised that all that needs doing really is cleanup, but personally I think if someone is up for the (grueling) task of verifying and checking citations, all the better. Again, I really appreciate it (can a request to edit an article be considered spam?). Thank you for your kind words :)
Tyrone Madera – Thanks for the nice replies here and elsewhere. I've had a tiny additional look but I must tell you: the executive summary is that I am rapidly approaching, or may already have hit, the limits of my cluelessness and time-shortage, and may not have much, or anything, to offer on the things you raise above. I am terrible on citations etc! It's always a miracle to me if it works at all. So I hope you get more help and I will certainly try to look in again, but I don't want to raise your expectations that I will be Captain Useful here! Cheers DBaK (talk) 08:03, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

mushroom revert
Hi DB&K,
Did you mean to revert me here? If not, no worries. If so, and you think the rename discussion should continue, you might want to reopen this one too. --Floquenbeam (talk) 14:39, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Hi Floquenbeam – absolutely not! Sorry. I have literally no recollection of doing that, and certainly no intent. I actually don't remember seeing the article so I am somewhat baffled as to what I clicked and how. (I have a great alcohol-monitoring app on my phone ... I wonder if it has a clue for me? Or is it just my basic senility creeping in?) Sheesh, sorry. I've zapped it back, as soon as I saw this. (Goes off muttering in embarrassment.) With best wishes and red face, DBaK (talk) 18:40, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
No worries, probably an accidental click on "rollback" on a list of recent changes, contribs, or a watchlist. Just wanted to make sure. If it had been intentional, it seemed a little... abrupt, but there is always a decent chance that I screwed something up so badly that "abrupt" was called for, so I wanted to be sure. --Floquenbeam (talk) 18:46, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Hi again Floquenbeam and sorry for the slow reply. Yes, that would have been very abrupt for me. I usually apologize fifteen times beforehand then feel guilty for a week if I change anything so that rv would have been like my equivalent of running amok and then insulting your ancestors whilst eating cold custard and singing the National Anthem out of tune and with weird rhythmical variations. Cheers DBaK (talk) 08:06, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
Yankee
Hi @DisillusionedBitterAndKnackered:, I've got your notification in regards to your revert. I'd just like to say that I always assumed the word yankee was used in a derogatory context, but upon further inspection can be used either way depending on the circumstance. I apologize, but unfortunately do not have the time to continue this issue; I'm fine with your revert and the page as it stands currently. I hope this resolves all the issues you had, but if you need to contact me further for any reason please do so. Regards, Tubesleveret15 (talk) 21:09, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
Hey! Tyrone Madera! Everything I do here is DEADLY SERIOUS so if I made you laugh it must be a horrible error somewhere! Sheesh.
No, seriously (!) thank you for the very kind and thoughtful award, and for letting me help with your fabulous article. Cheers DBaK (talk) 07:49, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
thank you, encouragement is my idea ;) - I received excellent music to listen to yesterday, look for Renaissance on my talk. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:05, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
Ooh yes, thanks Gerda Arendt, how fabulous! I have rushed off to get the album. Right up my street apart from the distressing lack of trumpets – but I will cope. :) DBaK (talk) 08:14, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
Definitely, Narky Blert – I am hearing and seeing it in my mind performed with the gentle and subtle enthusiasm of 5 x Maynard Fergusons. Much of it is an octave higher than the voice pitch but then there is a rousing fadeout where the lead – oh yes, sorry, that's all five leads – goes up two octaves. Just because, y'know. Deffo. DBaK (talk) 07:48, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
Mostly Baroque, I thought I recognized at least one movement of the Torelli (but it was a different trumpeter). For postlude, he played the melody of Segne du, Maria (May is Mary-month, with a Marian hymn at the end), and then moved per organ interlude to said movement). There was also playing for Prelude, Offertory and Communion. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:11, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
