- You have been told before that these station layout diagrams are not wanted on London Underground station articles. You also moved the page from the agreed naming format for London Underground stations which can be seen at here.
- This is a template that transcludes a diagram. Even so, why are they not wanted? I still don't get it. Also, it isn't agreed: see Chalfont and Latimer station for an example. Epicgenius(give him tirade • check out damage) 21:54, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
- They're not wanted because they fill up the page with an awkward diagram that does not provide encyclopaedic information. Where stations are complex they cannot be accurately illustrated with these diagrams. This was discussed here (which you participated in) and in other places which are cross referenced at that discussion.
- The naming convention is agreed and has been for many years. Chalfont and Latimer station is so called because it is served by both London Underground and National Rail services, for which the convention is XXX station.--DavidCane (talk) 22:24, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

- I wouldn't describe Wembley Park as a huge station despite it having multiple platforms and I don't think any tube station and few main line station require diagrams showing platform arrangements of the type you've been adding. Details on the lines serving the station, adjacent stations and ultimate destination of the lines are all given in the box at the bottom of the article page and can be supplemented in the text if specifically required. Adding minor information such as which side the doors open is not valuable or needed. --DavidCane (talk) 22:38, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

Bypassing redirects

Classification for WPLT not working

- It's a trivial irritation, but there's something wrong with the WPTrains template meaning that sometimes items coded with the parameters for WPLT aren't handled properly when the WPLT assessment table is produced. This is despite the categories showing correctly at the bottom of the article's talk page. Instead of showing up with the correct quality and importance values they come up as NA in both cases. If you have a look at the assessment table as it is now, you'll see one entry at the junction of the NA column and NA row which is the Coopersale Halt article.
- I haven't been able to work out what is causing this yet because it's a rare problem, but removing the parameters from the WPTrains template and using our own template allows the table to assessment bot to allocate the article correctly.--DavidCane (talk) 22:37, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
- The last edit to Talk:Coopersale Halt was in October 2010... maybe the page hadn't been re-parsed since I fixed WikiProject Trains in September 2013 following a previous similar case (remember this revert?), so the assessment table didn't know that it had been amended. I suspect that if you revert your edit, the assessment table will count it correctly. If you find similar cases in future, try a WP:NULLEDIT and see what the assessment table looks like after it's next rebuilt. --Redrose64 (talk) 23:15, 12 January 2014 (UTC)

The Charing Cross, Euston and Hampstead Railway (CCE&HR) was a railway company that constructed the deep-level underground railway that is now the central section of London's Northern line. Established in 1891, the company became a subsidiary of the Underground Electric Railways Company of London (UERL) in 1901. Various routes were planned, but a number were rejected by Parliament. Tunnels under Hampstead Heath were authorised, despite opposition by local residents who believed the tunnels would drain the heath of water and train vibrations would cause trees to collapse. When it opened in 1907, the CCE&HR's line served 16 stations (Tufnell Park pictured) and ran for 7.67 miles (12.34 km) in a pair of tunnels between its southern terminus at Charing Cross and two northern termini at Archway and Golders Green. Within a year of opening, it became apparent to the management and investors that the estimates of passenger numbers had been over-optimistic and the CCE&HR struggled financially for many years despite four extensions and connections to the City and South London Railway. Edgware Road Tube schemes

- There is a section on the North West London Railway on the Edgware Road Tube schemes article. Harrow Road station was one of the stations that the NWLR planned to build, but the company was not able to raise the money it needed and the parliamentary permission for the scheme expired.--DavidCane (talk) 16:28, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

London Gazette template

Your December edit to Template:LondonGazette seems to have broken an enormous number of links to historical Gazettes which apparently aren't on the beta website. (e.g., peruse the references in any list of High Sheriffs.) Would you mind reverting? Choess (talk) 01:27, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
- That's annoying, but, I'm afraid, reverting the change won't work because the old style web site is gone. The old address (http://www.london-gazette.co.uk) just redirects to the new one, so the problem isn't with the template, but the website.
- For example this link from High Sheriff of Durham does not work in the syntax produced by either the old or the new format template (the whole issue seems to be missing from the website at the moment):

Hi DavidCane
I'm sorry but life really got in the way and I found that my updates were really becoming sporadic. I know this is only a monthly newsletter but I tended to do this in one go at the end of each month (or when I eventually updated). I'm not as active on WP as I used to be although I still do keep up to date. I wouldn't mind having a backup editor for start of the months.
Thank you for the reminder. For me when I try to do everything in one go, it usually takes me a couple of hours and then opening people's talk pages (I know it is a short-ish list of 27 people) at the same time really slows down whatever computers I'm on.
I would just like to apologise for the long hiatus and I will try to get an update up for October. Possibly the next time this happens I should probably pass the mantle to someone else. But what do you think?
