Request on 11:40:53, 29 January 2018 for assistance on AfC submission by Hazelraee
Hello David
Thanks for the review you carried out on my client's page on 2nd November 2017. We don't have any more references to add, but we're surprised the ones we've submitted don't make the grade. I've had a look at other entries on Wikipedia, and found this published entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Stevens_(Jungian_analyst) which seems to have less references than on my client's draft which you've rejected. Please can you let me know what criteria you used to a) reject my client's draft and b) allow Anthony Stevens?
Many thanks

Hazelraee (talk) 11:40, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Hazelraee. I'm going to blunt and brutal. First of, if you are being paid for your services you must declare your conflict of interest. Second, if you are claiming to be a 'professional' Wikipedia editor to your client, wouldn't it be prudent (and moral) to be actually experienced in editing Wikipedia. For instance, would you hire a photographer who has never handled a SLR. Regarding your references, here is a test. Can you verify the following statement about me. 'I went to Warninglid School' as a child (http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/domesday/dblock/GB-524000-126000/page/7) and completed a physics degree at Cambridge (https://www.cam.ac.uk/). In my late twenties I travelled to Australia where I taught physics at Sydney University (https://sydney.edu.au/). Well? Now, in regards to the criteria, it's all there in the decline notices. There is WP:BIO, which says 'People are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject.', or WP:N which says 'The common theme in the notability guidelines is that there must be verifiable, objective evidence that the subject has received significant attention from independent sources to support a claim of notability.' The main reason though for the decline by me, and the previous reviewer was WP:V. That is 'All content must be verifiable. The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and is satisfied by providing a citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution.'. Simply put, the citations did not directly support virtually any of the article. That is, when I click onto the reference for a claim such as 'She attended a small grammar school in Farnham', first off, I expect to actually see the subjects name, in this case Liz MacRae Shaw, and some words that actually state, unambiguously, that Liz MacRae Shaw attended Farnham Girls' Grammar School. Not something like 'The building was first opened as a Girls Grammar school in 1937 but after reorganising of Surrey schools it reopened as a Middle School in 1974. There are about 320 children, aged between 8 and 12 years, on roll. The school is divided into four year groups with three or four classes in each year.' Do you see Liz MacRae Shaw written anywhere there? Yet you are 'surprised the ones we've submitted don't make the grade'. Well of course they didn't make the grade. That reference is about a school, not the subject. The same applies for most of the other references. The reason for the decline was clearly articulated in my response which was 'The first 3 references are about colleges, yet the subject is a biography. References need to be about the subject, not something else'. So, let me repeat. References need to be about the subject. Not about a school, not about a university, and certainly not about some Gaelic Society. The references must, I repeat, must be about the subject, and they need to be independent and have significant coverage. Thank you David.moreno72 04:16, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
14:44:14, 7 January 2018 review of submission by Tony.bourached - Draft:Transmed
Dear David,
Hope all is well.
I am referring back to your last feedback for the page submitted which I have edited as per your recommendations.
Can you please let me know if it is ok to go for now and it is only in queue for final approval?
Thank you so much.
Tony.bourached (talk) 13:41, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Tony.bourached. I have looked at the article and the main problem is that there are entire paragraphs (in the lede and in History), and an entire section (Brands) that are unsourced. If you cannot find a reliable and independent source, delete them. Thank you David.moreno72 01:27, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
Hi David.moreno72. Thank you once again for your feedback. I have amended the sources on all sections with the relevant sources. Can I please ask for your support again to review and let me know. Thank you Tony.bourached (talk) 12:20, 1 February 2018 (UTC)

Here is some stuff off the internet about Hunger Farm. I could download flyers with bands like Fugazi, the Offspring (who were on Nemesis records also), and Green Day and/or write-ups from Maximum Rock-n-Roll, Flipside, Ben is Dead and others if I have to. We have also played 924 Gilman St in berkely twice, as well as many other venues in many different staes, but I'm not sure if this is documemted online. I do have a playlist from France and maybe some other pertinent stuff as well. I tried to include links to your articles on Flidside Fanzine (we are listed as one of the bands on a cover), as well as being mentioned on your write-up on Nemesis Records, who released most of our stuff. I know that we are mentioned on websites for Fugazi and Green Day as having played with them. Hope this is enough tho. Let me know and thanks.

A declined submission
Hello David,
I created a page for my village "Namathpally" and you declined the submission because of lack of reliable resources.
I have cited the location for this place in the Google maps. What else can I provide to prove the existence of this place. There is not much information about our place on internet that I can cite in the article.
Please let me know what is required to prove the existence of this place.
Thanks, Pradeep. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Athikampradeep (talk • contribs) 03:39, 24 February 2018 (UTC)

I would like to request assistance for the Draft:NL Shrinivasan (Actor). There are numerous Wikipedia page published with very minimal coverage (probably just a 2-liner) on such similar profession. Believe I have included substantial referencing for this draft at this point of time and yet why is it still declined? Appreciate clarification.
Having this page published will be of a great recognition of an unsung hero.
Thank you.
Shanthini29 (talk) 04:41, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Shanthini29. So, in the decline notice it says, 'Wikipedia requires significant coverage (not just mere mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject' The first reference is marginal, as it is an interview, and so is not independent. Reference 2 is a single word mention, and so it has no significant coverage. Reference 3 is from some random fan, as so is not reliable. Reference 4 and 5 are single line entries, and so again, it has no significant coverage. So let me repeat again, 'Wikipedia requires significant coverage (not just mere mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject'. Also, the lede, 'Early Life' and 'Personal Life' sections are completely unsourced, which is not acceptable. Thank you David.moreno72 06:44, 1 March 2018 (UTC)

- Hi Prithivikpm. 'Wikipedia requires significant coverage (not just mere mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject'. The references need to not only verify what is in the article, but are required to satisfy WP:GNG. At present, none of them are suitable. Please read WP:REFB. Declined drafts reasons not displaying properly
Hi David.moreno72 and thanks for your work assessing drafts. I noticed one of the declined drafts doesn't have the reason displaying properly. The one I saw was Draft:Maher Almueqaly but there could be others as well. If you could go back and make repairs that would be great. The message on the corresponding user talk page also needs to be fixed. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 11:24, 4 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Diannaa. Yeah the AFC helper script caught a rather nasty bug. When I saw that there was something wrong I stopped reviewing. I've now fixed all the broken templates. Thanks for your message and happy mopping. David.moreno72 11:55, 4 March 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks, I figured you would know what the problem was :) — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 15:03, 4 March 2018 (UTC)
Draft:Christoph Thiele was a bad decline. The subject meets at least 3 of the numbered criteria at WP:PROF - named chair of a Math Department at Bonn University, winner of a makor prize, and Fellow of a society. Also that speaking invitation is a great honour. The 4 sources each support these points. Meeting one point on WP:PROF overrides the requirement for indepth coverage in RS. Thanks for doing reviewing :) Legacypac (talk) 18:19, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

Bennyboozer81 (talk) 08:15, 6 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Bennyboozer81. The following explanation was provided for you. This submission's references do not adequately show the subject's notability. Wikipedia requires significant coverage (not just mere mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject—see the guidelines on the notability of organizations and companies, the golden rule and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue. Please improve the submission's referencing (see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners and Help:Introduction to referencing/1), so that the information is verifiable, and there is clear evidence of why the subject is notable and worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia. If additional reliable sources cannot be found for the subject, then it may not be suitable for Wikipedia at this time.
- It would be appreciated if you not only took notice of what was provided, but also click onto ALL of the links as they provide very useful information regarding what corrections are needed.
- If you wish to see what was copy and pasted, please see here.
- When you have finished reading the material that has been provided to you, please also read WP:YFA, WP:COI, WP:COPYPASTE and WP:GNG. Any further questions are to be directed to the helpdesk. Thank you David.moreno72 11:32, 6 March 2018 (UTC)

We were a part of the initiative to add women to Wikipedia who are not widely enough recognised for the accomplishments they have achieved. This was a major initiative called WikiGap and was carried out across 40 countries and overseen by the Swedish government. Lama is a significant figure for women in the Middle East and around the world, as she is the first Middle Eastern woman to complete a marathon and the first Jordanian woman to complete an ultra marathon. Although we cited sources, our piece was rejected. This is incredibly disheartening, as the piece was altogether unbiased and entirely professional. unfortunately, back in the late 90s and early 2000s when she first accomplished these things, few outlets covered women in sports int eh region. We'd like to be able to publish this bio with the sources we have available, maintaining the unbiased and objective perspective that we have held throughout each draft of this piece.
Christodd523 (talk) 13:16, 11 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Christodd523. I certainly do welcome any Wiki initiatives, unfortunately the policies of Wikipedia still apply. Like all good articles, they must be referenced with reliable sources, but most importantly, the references verify all of the information provided. May I suggest that you write FROM the references, and not the other way round. That is, NOT to try and find references to shoehorn what is already written. So, in order to help you (your welcome), I have deleted all of the unreferenced text. So now, it is up to you to find suitable references and then, using ONLY what is in those references, use your own words to outline what is in the reference. Also, in order to satisfy WP:GNG, there should be a minimum of 3 references that are independent (ie. no interviews), reliable (ie. no blogs) and have significant coverage of the subject. If you follow my suggestions then there will be little doubt that the article will likely be accepted. Thank you David.moreno72 14:37, 11 March 2018 (UTC)
04:39:12, 12 March 2018 review of submission by Dsflyerds
Hello I am requesting a re-review because I am trying to create a Wikipedia article for a notable train simulator, but it's being rejected for not being so. There is not a lot of press on this simulator as it has only been around for about 5 years and has not had any big name reviews. But it is very well known in the train simulation community, the parent company 3D Train Stuff, LLC has been in the market for many years, as they worked on the North American Content package for Rail Works, as well as some work with Microsoft on their second train simulator, which was never released. Run 8 Train Simulator is listed several times throughout Wikipedia, including on the Train simulator and RailDriver pages. The sources I provided are the best that there are out there. I would not keep submitting it otherwise. Given the circumstances I am respectfully requesting your reconsideration of the rejection. Thanks,
Dsflyerds (talk) 04:39, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Dsflyerds. The minimum requirement for a Wikipedia article is that it satisfies notability. For software this is detailed in WP:NSOFT and for games in WP:NVG. If you are able to easily demonstrate that the article can pass these requirements then you can resubmit. If it doesn't, and you keep resubmitting, your actions will be regarded as WP:TENDENTIOUS. The TENG Ensemble has been reputable in Singapore with many performances and even a special mention by Singapore's Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong during his National Day Rally Speech in 2015. Here are all our achievements (http://www.thetengcompany.com/content/6-press-media/the-teng-company-milestones-latest.pdf). The TENG Ensemble also created various music videos on Youtube like "The Evolution of Disney Princesses" at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLlvBFkPzRU. We also have our own channel in case you want to check it out at https://www.youtube.com/user/thetengcompany. More details of the company can be found at www.thetengcompany.com.
I am representing the company in the creation of the pages and hence would be happy to answer any questions. Thank you!

I gave a citation of business standard. If you read the article, you'll know that business standard doesn't do interviews of unimportant people. On further reading you'll find mention of work done by artist which gives it merit. Just a decline with asking reference of some website with exactly what you want isn't possible.
Even if you type "Anaya b" in Google it would Auto complete it to Anaya Brahma, which explains the amount of searches done.
Would request more specific feedback instead of copy paste vague guideline in order to further edit.
Mohsyn (talk) 00:34, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Mohsyn. The requirements to satisfy WP:GNG are very clear. It says 'If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list.' Unfortunately the single reference is not independent. Also the auto complete of Google is not a criteria as set down in WP:GNG. In addition, the rest of the article is unsourced and so does not comply with WP:V. Also, please do not simply resubmit a draft without any improvements. Thank you David.moreno72 10:34, 13 March 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for your advice that I "improve the existing Mackinac College article." The existing Mackinac College article is just 14 sentences long; only 3 of these sentences are true, correctly referenced, and about the college. The Mackinac College Talk page has a table detailing the specific problems in the existing article. Do you advise that I delete false sentences/references from the existing article and incorporate my improvements? I hope to hear from you.
Karin D. E. Everett (talk) 02:06, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Karin D. E. Everett. If the existing material is unreferenced, then yes, you can go ahead and remove the material. Make sure that you explain your changes in the edit summary. If you wish to incorporate your improvements, as per WP:V, they must be fully referenced. I would suggest a 'go slow' approach. Make incremental improvements so that it gives other editors time to review your changes to ensure they comply with policy. If there are no objections (via reverts) then keep making changes (all fully referenced of course). Happy editing. David.moreno72 02:16, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
Thank you David.moreno72. I'll do my best as you suggest. Our proposed Mackinac College work has 58 references, 10 photos, and the following topics:

- 2 Academics
- 3 Faculty and Administration
- 4 Students
- 5 Building a College and Campus Life
- 6 Athletics
- 7 Finances
- 8 Controversy and Closing
- 9 Legacy
- 10 Board of Trustees[5]:33
- 11 Books by Mackinac College Administration, Faculty, Staff, and Students
- 11.1 Administration, Faculty, and Staff
- 11.2 Students
- 12 See also
- 13 References
So I'll begin editing by simply starting at the beginning. Karin D. E. Everett (talk) 04:35, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
Draft:Disney Enterprises is copy of The Walt Disney Company
Hi! An edit popped up on my watchlist—when I checked other contributions by the editor, I found a draft you had declined: Draft:Disney Enterprises. The first paragraph of the latest version (as well as the first version) of the draft you declined for the second time on March 15, 2018 is basically a copy of The Walt Disney Company. The first paragraph of the draft is
The Walt Disney Company, commonly known as Disney, is an American diversified multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate, headquartered at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California. It is the world's second largest media conglomerate in terms of revenue, after Comcast. Disney was founded on October 16, 1923 – by brothers Walt Disney and Roy O. Disney – as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, and established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and theme parks.

I'd hate to see this editor get much further down the road without an explanation that actual writing is required. — Neonorange (Phil) 13:27, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Neonorange. When I declined the article it simply consisted of
'Disney Enterprises, Inc. is the registered owner of Disney-branded trademarks, copyrights and other IP assets not otherwise held by a separate subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, such as: ABC, Marvel Entertainment or Lucasfilm.
Prior to the 1996 merger with Capital Cities/ABC; and after the completion of the merger, Disney Enterprises, Inc. became a wholly owned subsidiary of the newly formed publicly traded company henceforth known as The Walt Disney Company.'
- I certainly don't have the time nor the inclination to keep an appraisal on the edits made after a review. If an editor wants to waste their time copying and pasting from other articles, well, it's better than vandalising them. I must have reviewed thousands of articles that are either blank, jokes, copy and pastes from either Wikipedia articles or existing web pages, and the motivation still baffles me. If you want to leave a note on their talk page, be my guest. Thank you. David.moreno72 13:51, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
Perhaps it may help if I tell you some of the way I deal with these.
- For test pages, jokes, and miscellaneous nonsense, I use either G6 technical deletion, or G2, test page.
- For trivial duplicates where there is nothing worth merging, in addition to sending the decline message, I tag then as speedy G6, for complete duplicates, I check the dates, and see if it's actually a draft that should have been removed when the article was created, and change the page to a redirect to the talk page of an article, which is what the macro is supposed to do. (Sometimes it's a sign that the creator accepted the page without going through AfC review, and then the actual p. in mainspace needs careful checking for spam, etc)
- For blank pages, it's a little different--they may simply have mistakenly clicked submit before they wrote the article. Here I just send the notice, and not use speedy, because it can be a reminder.
There's a few other useful ways to simplify procedure:
- If the article is really promotional--a straight advertisement, without likelihood of improvement, I decline it and also use G11, as do some other reviewers. I see you've done that for a few recently, and you might consider doing it more often.
- If the article has been resubmitted several times and is essentially unchanged , I send it to MfD. I see you;ve done it to in a particularly extreme case (10 submissions),but I & others now do it after 3 or 4 if no progress is being made, especially in the submissions are immediately after each other.
- If the article is both promotional and doesn't indicate notability, which is an extremely common combination, there is a relatively new feature -- one I have been asking for for many years and is finally available: you can use multiple tags on an AfC. After placing the first, click after its name, and then place the second.
And I also want to say, that I do not disagree in the slightest with any of your recent decisions to accept or decline. You are one of the more accurate reviewers. DGG ( talk ) 02:33, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- I do have to supplement this a little. Looking further, I very definitely do disagree with your not using WP:POLITICIAN for Draft:Mario Etchelecu, and using the GNG instead of WP:PROF for Draft:Horimoto Takenori, or for Draft:Dean Kyne--tho I'm not sure he meets WP:PROF that's the criterion by which it would be considered. (You also didn't use it for Draft:Dr. Roslyn Yomtovian, but Kablammo caught what both you and I missed, that it was a copyvio.) These are two well-established special notability guidelines -- and WP:PROF is the only SNG that unequivocally says that it is an alternative to the GNG, not just a presumption.
- As for draft:State Islamic University of North Sumatra Medan, you don't seem to accept that in practice we essentially always do keep articles on universities unless there's some special reason such as failure of verification or doubt about independent existence. You may disagree with this, but the criterion for passing AfC is that it is likely to be accepted at AfD, and the odds are greater than 95:1 that it will be, after a little improvement. DGG ( talk ) 05:11, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi DGG. Thanks for the critique of my reviews. In my defence I would like to add that there is no option for WP:POLITICIAN in the AFC helper script, and so I default to GNG. It would be great if it was added to the script for further detail. I can see your point with the professors, although my rationale is that I tend to steer towards GNG when the article is typically unreferenced or very poorly referenced. I will take your advice and now steer towards WP:ACADEMIC. With regards to the State Islamic University of North Sumatra Medan page, is it considered a copyright violation if the entire text is a copy and paste of a Google translate. If not a copyright violation, should it still be approved despite not being properly attributed. Either way I think I still made the right decision in declining the draft. Thanks for your sage advice, and as always, happy mopping. David.moreno72 07:16, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- There are indeed many gaps in the ADC procedures; We certainly do need to add one for politician, and also for creative -- I'll try to get them written. In the meantime we have to do it by notes--I sometimes even change the template after it's been applied to the user talk p. (this is quite irrelevant to whether I agree with Politician--I do not, but if I'm advising someone, I have to give the accepted view).
- You are also quite right that the Univ page is almost certainly a copyvio, and even if I cannot find it, it needs to be rewritten. The standard view is that this takes priority over anything else. Many of us rewrite things that look like copyvios, because even if they are not, the content is not appropriate. You did do right to decline the draft, and if I accept it, I will rewrite it. As for what should get accepted, the standard is fixed at what is likely to pass AfD, which most of us interpret as somewhat between 66 and 80%. Myself, I expect at least 80%. But what it does mean is that an article we strongly dislike, but which we know is unfortunately going to be accepted the way things are here, has to be approved. Queens Park Community School GLAM page
Hi David, the above mentioned page is not a Wikipedia page but a GLAM project page of Wikimedia UK to encourage students to collate resources about editing Wikipedia and about their school. It is not a normal article. There seems to have been some confusion about this, so perhaps it would be best to move it over to MetaWiki. What do you think? --Jwslubbock (talk) 12:36, 14 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Jwslubbock. The Wikipedia:GLAM space is NOT the space for draft pages that are to be submitted to AFC, but are for pages that are ABOUT the project. If someone wishes to participate in the project, they still must go through the traditional AFC process, which is to first create a draft (in the DRAFT namespace, AND of a page that DOESN'T already exist), add the {{subst:GLAM Article}} tag (if the article is about an object in the institution's collection), fill the details, and then add the {{AFC submission}} when ready. The problem with the 'Queens Park Community School GLAM page' is that it is NOT a page for students to collate resources about editing Wikipedia, but it is a page about a school which ALREADY exists in Wikipedia. The correct procedure would simply to edit the existing page.
- For further information on the process I recommend that you review Wikipedia:GLAM/Beginner's guide to Wikipedia Thank you David.moreno72 13:04, 14 March 2018 (UTC)
- I work for the UK chapter so I help run GLAM projects and don't need to have the basic rules of article creation explained to me. This is a GLAM project that doesn't already exist. It's not just about the school - it clearly states that it is to collate resources to help and encourage students to edit, so it seems like you have misunderstood what the page is intended for. I can rename it if this helps you to understand what we are doing. Jwslubbock (talk) 10:04, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Jwslubbock. May I suggest that you look at the page history of the page in question. After you left a number of the students started editing the page, which is all well and good, but to make it look like a Wikipedia article, move the page and then submit it to AFC, is where the experiment went too far. Next time you are teaching how to use Wikipedia with a test page, can you please make it very clear to the students that they are NOT to move the page, or to submit it to AfC. Thank you David.moreno72 11:42, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- I find it hard to believe one of the students would have moved the page. I think that must have been someone else who misunderstood what it was intended for. The first I knew of this is when it was deleted. I will investigate. Jwslubbock (talk) 14:04, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Jwslubbock. You might find it hard to believe but it's right there in the page history. See here. You might also find it hard to believe that your test page was modified to look like an actual Wikipedia page (and duplicated) and was then submitted to AFC, but again, it's right there in the page history. See here. Now, being an active AfC reviewer acting in good faith, and the AFC helper script only being able to operate on articles in user or draft space, I moved it into draft, see here.

- Now, given the unequivocal and indisputable evidence of the disruptive activities of your students, including vandalism such as defacing (see here and here and here or deleting an administrators user page (see here, I think you should go back to the school and guide the students on responsible behaviour. End of conversation. David.moreno72 14:44, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
Hello
Hi,
The source is from that website because it is the entire original decree, which is history. It has no personal opinions or analysis. It is just what the French wrote in the 1792. The source has to be the same with that website because it is the "law" of the decree, which was exactly the same of what the French wrote in 1792 during their Revolution. There is no other sources that can be found that has the original the decree. It has 12 article. Please, reconsider the submission. Thank you.

New Page Review Newsletter No.10
ACTRIAL:
- ACTRIAL's six month experiment restricting new page creation to (auto)confirmed users ended on 14 March. As expected, a greatly increased number of unsuitable articles and candidates for deletion are showing up in the feed again, and the backlog has since increased already by ~30%. Please consider reviewing a few extra articles each day.
Paid editing
- Now that ACTRIAL is inoperative pending discussion, please be sure to look for tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary.
Subject-specific notability guidelines
- The box at the right contains each of the subject-specific notability guidelines, please review any that are relevant BEFORE nominating an article for deletion.
- Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves with the new version of the notability guidelines for organisations and companies. A further discussion is currently taking place at: Can a subject specific guideline invalidate the General Notability Guideline?
Nominate competent users for Autopatrolled
- While patrolling articles, if you find an editor that is particularly competent at creating quality new articles, and that user has created more than 25 articles (rather than stubs), consider nominating them for the 'Autopatrolled' user right HERE.
News
- The next issue Wikipedia's newspaper The Signpost has now been published after a long delay. There are some articles in it, including ACTRIAL wrap-up that will be of special interest to New Page Reviewers. Don't hesitate to contribute to the comments sections. The Signpost is one of the best ways to stay up date with news and new developments - please consider subscribing to it. Webkul
Hi David. I noticed that you declined Draft:Webkul with the rationale that Webkul is salted. I wondered if that was a valid reason, however? As far as I am aware, a page being salted doesn't preclude someone trying to write an acceptable draft article about the topic? The draft should be declined if it is not acceptable, but I wouldn't have thought that the proposed location being salted would be a reason in itself for a decline. Cordless Larry (talk) 14:31, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Cordless Larry. Yes, There is nothing to preclude a salted page from being created as a draft, but the process for it to be promoted to mainspace, as per WP:SALT, does NOT include submitting it to AfC. The process, as specified, and I quote is to 'Contributors wishing to re-create a salted title with more appropriate content should either contact an administrator (preferably the protecting administrator), file a request at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection, or use the deletion review process.' Invalid submissions ARE a valid reason for a decline. Thank you David.moreno72 23:19, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation. I was thinking that it would be useful for the author to know if the draft met the required standards aside from the salting issue, and if passed could then take the draft to an admin for creation. I'm not a reviewer though, so I defer to your knowledge and experience. Thanks. Cordless Larry (talk) 11:53, 30 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Cordless Larry. If you want to help out the editor that has already been blocked at least twice then be my guest. I have already linked to the relevant procedure and policy and if the editor doesn't wish to follow through, that is their choice. Technically, the draft should be deleted for block evasion regardless of satisfying WP:GNG or not. Thank you. David.moreno72 13:41, 30 March 2018 (UTC)
- Nope, you're right - I'll leave well alone! Cordless Larry (talk) 17:32, 30 March 2018 (UTC)

Re: page submitted Qmoog(Musician)
Mr. Moreno,
Hello,
A S.O.G. here and I'm responding on behalf of my colleague"NeyPar9"to your decision to decline our request to have a page created for the artist known as Qmoog. We have noticed that in your response you indicated a lack of notoriety for this artist as your reasoning for declining our page request. Having investigated wikipedia guidelines further we have discovered that the subject need only to satisfy one of the qualifications to be considered "Notable". As a result, I am including two of those guidelines of which this artist meets that criteria along with links to verify them: "Has released two or more albums on a major record label or on one of the more important indie labels (i.e., an independent label with a history of more than a few years, and with a roster of performers, many of whom are independently notable." (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crammed_Discs), "Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g., a theme for a network television show, performance in a television show or notable film, inclusion on a notable compilation album."(https://www.discogs.com/Various-The-Deepest-Shade-Of-Techno-III/release/8187).
After you have taken the opportunity to review this information, I believe you will come to the conclusion that this artist warrants inclusion on the Wikipedia platform and we respectfully request that you approve the article.
Thank you for your time
Best regards,
A. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Neypar9 (talk • contribs) 15:15, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Neypar9. The artist does not appear to satisfy WP:MUSICBIO. In regards to criteria 5, the artist needs to release two or more albums from a major or (notable) indie record label. In this instance the artist has only released one album, 'The Arc Of Blueness'. In regards to satisfying criteria 10, 'notable compilation album', the notability of the album MUST also be established. This is done by linking to the Wikipedia article or by linking to a reference that verifies that it has charted. A discogs entry is not enough in this case as it does not have the albums highest chart position. I also see that you have resubmitted the article without making any improvements AND removing previous comments. Please do not do that. Thank you David.moreno72 01:10, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
GOAT Index Article
Hello David, thanks so much for the helpful feedback on the GOAT Index draft I posted yesterday. There is actually a new index that will be built in a few months using the same methodology, and that analysis will be submitted to publications like the NY Times for review (regarding your feedback on having enough sources). To date, the GT analysis has been covered in Forbes and SB Nation, both reputable platforms. Would be okay to publish the analysis on Wikipedia as it is now, and as it continues to grow I'll add those updates?
Thanks so much, David! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Statguy10102 (talk • contribs) 11:36, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
