Family (TV Series)
Hello. You recently made an edit whereby you suggested that the programme should be discussed in the present tense ie 'Family IS a TV Show.' When I did my edits, I was just following precedent (perhaps an unwise decision, in retrospect). Does that mean that the whole article should be changed so that it is in the present tense? Thank you. Please forgive me for my ignorance on this issue. (Galaxycat (talk) 19:07, 4 September 2012 (UTC))
- Fiction is almost always written in the literary present, but this doesn't mean that the entire article needs to be changed to the present tense. Writing "Such and such was a television show" is incorrect because a TV show does not cease to exist after the production of new episodes stop. For comparison purposes, you wouldn't say that Gone with the Wind was a movie, since it's still a movie (albeit one from a long time ago). I know it sounds awkward sometimes, but that's just how it is in the English language. You do not need to use the present tense when referring to real-world things (e.g. "The show was produced at…) I hope I have clarified your question, but let me know if you still have any questions. Hey, there! I restored the ratings for Person of Interest, with rounding corrected. We can update to the final ratings when they are published, but for now, the fast nationals are accurate and sourced, so there's no need to remove them; and it avoids an edit war with the 1001 IP's that will want to put them back in without proper sourcing. --Drmargi (talk) 16:16, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- The IPs aren't an issue. I think it's better to wait for the final adjustments since they are ultimately going to be used. The overnight ratings are sometimes subject to more than minute adjustments, so surely you can see why it's not always practical to use those preliminary ratings. GOCE September 2012 drive wrap-up
| Guild of Copy Editors September 2012 backlog elimination drive wrap-up
Participation: Out of 41 people who signed up this drive, 28 copy-edited at least one article. Thanks to all who participated! Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. Progress report: We achieved our primary goal of clearing July, August, September and October 2011 from the backlog. This means that, for the first time since the drives began, the backlog is less than a year. At least 677 tagged articles were copy edited, although 365 new ones were added during the month. The total backlog at the end of the month was 2341 articles, down from 8323 when we started out over two years ago. We completed all 54 requests outstanding before September 2012 as well as eight of those made in September. Copy Edit of the Month: Voting is now over for the August 2012 competition, and prizes will be issued soon. The September 2012 contest is closed for submissions and open for voting. The October 2012 contest is now open for submissions. Everyone is welcome to submit entries and to vote. – Your drive coordinators: Stfg, Allens, and Torchiest. - While I agree that this edit was warranted, WP:3RR is a bright-line rule - if you've already made 3 reverts in 24 hours, you can only revert if the reversion is one of the exemptions listed at WP:3RRNO, and that one wasn't. - I would suggest issuing the appropriate user warning whenever this IP editor makes a disruptive edit. You can look through an (almost?) complete list of warnings on this page, or you can use Twinkle to issue one. If he's making factually incorrect changes, the best warning may be {{uw-error1}} or {{uw-error2}}. Family Guy Volume 10
I'm sorry, but the Family Guy Volume 10 DVD doesn't contain any Season 10 episodes whatsoever. It contains nothing involving the following season, therefore isn't apart of that season.
