Your submission at Articles for creation

[edit]
Thank you for your recent submission to Articles for Creation. Your article submission has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. Please view your submission to see the comments left by the reviewer. You are welcome to edit the submission to address the issues raised, and resubmit once you feel they have been resolved.
Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you will probably not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
    • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
    • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 15:18, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It would seem that this account belongs to a PR agency. If so, you may want to read Wikipedia's FAQ for businesses and the policy on paid editing. Equally this link might be of some interest. Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 15:19, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I didn't realize that my username wasn't allowed. I never intended to share my username or account with anyone else. I created the account to add information about authors that were not on Wikipedia which I have read, as well as to add facts to other entries, not for promotional purposes. I'm sorry if it appeared that way because of my username, it was a mistake.

Decline reason:

Are you employed by Creare Marketing or by Creare Group or any other such marketing group, and do your proposed edits have anything to do with your employer's clients? Your AfC submission seems to be not an encyclopedia article about an author so much as advertisement pushing his book: "Sure to provoke controversy, THE CHINA FALLACY is critical reading for anyone who wants to understand... " etc. That is not what an encyclopedia is for, and nothing like that would be acceptable in Wikipedia.

Changing username would not allow you to continue to promote your company's clients. Please read:

If unblocked, do you undertake to follow those guidelines? JohnCD (talk) 11:26, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I do own a company named Creare Marketing and am employed by them, however Donald Gross is not a client of my company. A friend who knows him was trying to create a page of information on him for wikipedia and was having trouble with it, so asked me to help. It is my first time working on Wikipedia and I just intended to take information from his website to add to the page. It was my mistake for not reading more of the policies posted, as I wasn't familiar with them, and didn't see them right away as I went to create the pages, I just read up on how to create them. I will definitely go through the content and remove all advertising copy that is used, and try my best to ensure it is a neutral, informative article, which is what I intended the entire time. I promise if I am unblocked I will follow all the guidelines and make sure the content is neutral and informative that I put up. Crearemarketing (talk) 19:59, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

Accept reason:

Allowing username change. I'm afraid that name is taken; you will have to choose another. You can check at Special:Listusers whether it is available. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. JohnCD (talk) 21:46, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Very well, I have unblocked you to request a change of username. I'm afraid Blmscott is already taken. It has very few edits, so it might be possible to take it over by the "Usurp" procedure, but it would be simpler to choose another, perhaps adding one or two digits at the end. Please put the request in at WP:Changing username as soon as possible - read down to the bottom of that page, click on "Simple" and follow the instructions. See WP:REALNAME for pros and cons of a username based on your real name.

Some advice:

  • Wikipedia is extremely resistant to being used for anything that seems like advertising or promotion. WP:Neutral point of view is one of three fundamental content policies. (The others are WP:Verifiability and WP:No original research).
  • I have removed the whole "Book" section from your AfC draft because it was copied from the website. See WP:Copy-paste: Wikipedia cannot accept copied material, even temporarily, unless a formal copyright release is made. Assertion of permission is not enough. The way to make a copyright release is explained at WP:Donating copyrighted materials, but it is very seldom worth doing, because material written for other purposes is usually (as in this case) too promotional in tone for an encyclopedia article.
  • Wikipedia is quite selective about subjects for articles. The criterion used is called WP:Notability, and is not a matter of saying so but has to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones like publishers, and anything based on press releases. The test is, have people not connected with the subject thought it significant enough to write substantial comment about? See WP:ANS. For particular subjects, there are more detailed guidelines, e.g. WP:AUTHOR and WP:Notability (books).
  • Good general advice at WP:Your first article, and some background at User:JohnCD/Not a noticeboard.

Finally, a standard welcome message with some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! John, Thank you and sorry for the misuse/understanding. I promise to use Wikipedia correctly moving forward. Thank you for the resources above as well. I will make sure to check them out. Crearemarketing (talk) 22:39, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Blmscott28. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Donald Gross".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by one of two methods (don't do both): 1) follow the instructions at WP:REFUND/G13, or 2) copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Donald Gross}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, and click "Save page". An administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 04:00, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
