User Page
[edit]Well, it is very simple. I happened to be doing a little bit of user page patrolling, and I caught your page being edited by a non-user, so I quickly investigated, and reverted the vandalism. Nothing magical. Regards. --Jay(Reply) 02:46, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:Chapel of the Resurrection.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Chapel of the Resurrection.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.- Shyam (T/C) 20:18, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Hey, no problem. Your edit was definitely needed, except for waiting on actually removing CS from the list -- I had no idea about CSU leaving until you posted it. Go Valpo! Jpers36 17:00, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
Calumet Region
[edit]IMHO, I think the Calumet River page should be at "Calumet Region" rather than "Northwest Indiana". The Calumet Region is the chain of industry around Gary, Hammond, South Chicago, etc. while Northwest would, to me, include Valparaiso and South Bend. I'm not quite certain, though; my area of expertise is across the state line in the city of Chicago. Name the article what you think best. Thanks, --- Dralwik|Have a Chat My "Great Project"
Proof
[edit]What proof do you have that it was really a self edit and not someone else trying to make it look like that? I am very suspicious on whether or not it was a self edit. Do you have any proof that it was? 75.3.4.54 04:05, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
Headings
[edit]I see you bumped all the headings in the Time in Indiana article down a notch.
Before I changed them, they were all down a notch, but there was no TOC in the article. After I made them first level headings, a TOC appeared. It did not disappear after you bumped them down.
This may sound stupid; but how do you get the TOC to appear without first level headings? ONUnicorn 20:24, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
East Coast Conference
[edit]I noticed that you changed the East Coast Conference link on Mid-Continent Conference. The East Coast Conference link appears to refer to a different conference. Unfortunately, there is not too much on the web about the merged East Coast Conference. Here are some that mention them:

Indiana University disambiguation
[edit]I imagine this is a perennial subject, but after a rv war between myself and another user, the subject of changing Indiana University to redirect to Indiana University Bloomington has resurfaced here. Unspecified source for Image:Indiana license plate.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Indiana license plate.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Fair use rationale for Image:Indiana license plate.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Indiana license plate.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Indiana Clean Up
[edit]i have been trying to make improvements to this article that you seem to have an issue. specifically, some dated 'demographic' information on religion from 1906 and also 'famous hoosiers'. first, let's tackle the demographics. this section is a current description of the state, not a history lesson. what is so special about 1906? why not stats from every other census? why nothing current? detailed information from a specific year that far back should not be included unless you are making a point about changing demographics over time. in regards to famous hoosiers i believe the state version should be filtered down to only truly famous hoosiers -- those with outstanding accomplisments and achievements. you can't list everyone so a limit has to be decided upon. maybe my list is too short, but i remember seeing some complaints about the long lists on this article and i'm trying my best to improve it. Image:Scott Drew.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Scott Drew.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. The table you created is overlapping a lot with the infobox, atleast viewing it on Safari & Mac Firefox. I'm not sure if there is any way to move it down, but if you could, that'd be great. Cornell Rockey 22:54, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
I had the same problem with all the hockey conference pages and was wondering if it was just my browser, PC & Firefox. Anyway, I just wanted to point that out. Also, I changed the color on the college hockey conference infoboxs so they'd match the logo colors better. I think it looks better, but if you don't, I'll remove them. Orphaned non-free image (Image:Mid-Continent Conference logo.gif)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Mid-Continent Conference logo.gif. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Horizon League logo
[edit]I wouldn't find it problematic, but I don't think it's really necessary. As it is, there's no sort of a constant naming system anyways, and in order for someone to use the image they'll need to find the image name. At that point, it doesn't truly matter what's used to name it, I don't think. --fuzzy510 20:42, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Image source problem with Image:Bryce Drew The Shot.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Bryce Drew The Shot.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. We're trying to develop some sort of consensus on how the maps should be built (which states are/aren't shaded, colors, non-full members, etc.) and your input would be welcome. The discussion is here: Athletic conference overview maps and their lack of consistency Mdak06 (talk) 22:28, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The file File:Henry F. Schricker, Second Term.gif has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Only one non-free portrait of former governor Schricker is needed for indentification purposes (File:Henry F. Schricker, First Term.gif is being used in the main infobox) per WP:NFCC#3a and WP:NFCC#1. Moreover, this particular portrait is not itself the subject of any sourced critical commentary so the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is lacking.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:33, 20 September 2017 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:WVUR-FM logo.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:WVUR-FM logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:31, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
