@Rasnaboy Iam not able to edit the protected Wikipedia pages even after crossing my 10th edit CatTheMeow (talk) 13:17, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why can't I edit some particular pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them. If this is not the case, you may have been blocked or your IP address caught up in a range block.
Where can I experiment with editing Wikipedia?
How do I create an article?
See how to create your first article, then use the Article Wizard to create one, and add references to the article as explained below.
How do I create citations?
  1. Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
  2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
  3. In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
  4. Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
  5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like <ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing).
  6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
  7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References==
{{Reflist}}
What is a WikiProject, and how do I join one?
A WikiProject is a group of editors that are interested in improving the coverage of certain topics on Wikipedia. (See this page for a complete list of WikiProjects.) If you would like to help, add your username to the list that is on the bottom of the WikiProject page.

Mes belgaum

[edit]

Hello It's an talk that I have started because of your recent edit on mes belgaum related to the photo which you have removed siting it as a screenshot. First and foremost be aware of Wikipedia guidelines and rules to do so and be ready to face the consequences of it. It's is not a screenshot taken by any one but it's is a Wikimedia commons picture which has licence from Wikipedia ( hope you know how to chek the licence) the next imp part is that it had a link attached to it which you can see is of a recognised newspaper Deccan Herald and it gives people authentic support for the photo even by providing it in its blog. So before you do any edits related to person interes please stop it and make some useful edit . I am reporting it and if you continue to edit Mes Belagaum Wikimedia me suspended your account. More eminence (talk) 13:21, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@More eminence You should be aware of your own account first, you have removed and vandalised the Belgaum page by removing Chenamma photo and added Shivaji and Sambhaji photo like a Supremacist and agreed and requested everyone to not violate the rules and again and it is the order from Belgaum police and you itself did the same thing by showing up regional chauvinism by adding Marathi rulers photo in Belgaum Wiki. Please don't show your personal angerness in Wikipedia CatTheMeow (talk) 14:56, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Mako001. I noticed that in this edit to Karnataka, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Mako001 (C)  (T)  🇺🇦 12:30, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi CatTheMeow. You new article Battle of Narmada is missing most of its references. You've used short form refs ({{sfn}} or Harv templates) extensively, but haven't supplied the required full cites in the Bibliography section. Short form refs are not meant as free text, but must link correct with a cite elsewhere in the article ({{cite book}}/{{cite web}}/{{cite journal}} for instance). You can read about how to create full cites here WP:REFB. Without these the supplied references are not valid, and will need to be removed and replaced with {{citations needed}} tags. Just ask if you have any questions. -- LCU ActivelyDisinterested transmissions °co-ords° 13:05, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for informing, i have improved the article with better references with connectivity to templates CatTheMeow (talk) 14:25, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Battle of Madhura requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://archive.org/stream/in.ernet.dli.2015.55644/2015.55644.South-India-Under-The-Vijayanagar-Empire--Vol-1_djvu.txt, https://archive.org/stream/aravidudynastyof035336mbp/aravidudynastyof035336mbp_djvu.txt&q=xxx+padres+de+la+india&sa=X&ei=itwZUKf9HMfChAfqpYGQDg&ved=0CBcQFjAB, and https://archive.org/stream/in.ernet.dli.2015.77307/2015.77307.The-Aravidu-Dynasty-Of-Vijayanagar_djvu.txt. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Edit summaries

[edit]

Please make sure that your edit summaries accurately reflect what your edits do; for example, don't give "Fixed typo" for an edit which removes substantial amount of text, and does not correct any typo. JBW (talk) 17:35, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps I should also have said that giving no edit summary at all is not much better. Please do give edit summaries which do accurately reflect what your edits do, rather than giving either none or misleading ones. JBW (talk) 15:21, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@User:DaxServer Can you please check this? CatTheMeow has engaged in multiple disruptive edits and is persistent in POV pushing. For example, edit1 and edit2 removed content from academic sources and instead added material contrary to the citations. Other cases of edit warring (edit1, edit2) without engaging in discussion. All the changes I have made are either sourced or discussed on Talk page.
How do you explain this edit? You removed information sourced from two different reliable sources. One is from a JNU professor, and the other is from the Encyclopedia of World Music. How can you write something directly contradictory to multiple academic sources?
@DaxServer Can you please look into this at the earliest? Reo kwon (talk) 06:18, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Responding to ping. It seems the situation has gone into Wikipedia:Edit warring. I urge taking the Wikipedia:Dispute resolution steps, especially asking for a moderator at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard, instead of reverting edit after edit lest being blocked for edit warring — DaxServer (t · m · e · c) 07:10, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Plz don't allow @Reo kwon and @Nikh Nori to move pages simply for their own benefits especially the pages where i stopped their propaganda by reverting vandalism, if they continue to do so then plz block them, the pages are like Aliya Rama Raya, Eastern Chalukya, Kannada-Telugu script CatTheMeow (talk) 11:53, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits to Eastern Chalukyas have entered the definition of edit warring. You need to discuss the situation at the article's talk page and change the article only after consensus is reached. I looked back through the article's history, and you're the editor initiating the change, so if there's a burden to get consensus, it definitely falls with you.

I don't want to have to take administrative action against you or the article, but I will if it is necessary to prevent further disruption of the project. —C.Fred (talk) 12:14, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Warring

[edit]
Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Carnatic music shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
Please use the article talk page first resolve the issue. Do not make any changes otherwise. -- Ab207 (talk) 13:12, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, CatTheMeow,
You are lucky not to have received a block. You must stop reverting other editors and calling their edits vandalism. If you continue with this editing behavior, you will lose your editing privileges. Talk out your differences of opinion on the article talk page, not through edit summaries.
If you have questions about editing on Wikipedia or page moves, bring them to the Teahouse. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 15:53, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}} on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Chalukya Dynasty

[edit]

Hi there. When using sources please try to use book sources and not leave links as citations. I am aware that Durga Prasad Dikshit has published an authoritative book on the Chalukyas of Badami and included about a 100 inscriptions discovered so far from there rule (66% in Sanskrit and 33% in Kannada). If you can provide a citation for the same content you added from the book it would be a lot more convincing because your link leads nowhere. As such multiple authors such as the historians Suryanatha Kamath and K.A.N. Sastri claim the inscriptions of the Rashtrakutas call them "Karnatabala", not "Karnatakabala" though they mean the same essentially.Pied Hornbill (talk) 22:00, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Pied Hornbill As I read in the inscription which is in the Old Kannada script and Sanskrit language, it is clearly said that it was known as 'Karnatakabala'
The text goes thus :
'Karṇāṭakambalammanantamajēyaṁ'
11th line, Atlas Plates of Govinda II, EI, Vol - 6
Sastri and Kamath mentioned it to be as 'Karnatabala' while it was 'Karnatakabala', because a lot of sources referring to the region was mentioned as 'Karnata' and so they referred it be the same instead of 'Karnatakabala' which was the original mention in the Rashtrakuta records CatTheMeow (talk) 23:48, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
