Mixed?

[edit]

In this edit, how do you interpret "mixed", from this source, which clearly indicates negative? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:08, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The reviews weren't completely writing off the movie. They were critical of the confusing narration but praised the technical aspects and novelty of the idea.Reo kwon (talk) 03:54, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Adipurush

[edit]

I have moved the article you have created to Draft:Adipurush as the film fails WP:NFF. Only publish the article when principal photography has started. SP013 (talk) 16:47, 23 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Just out of curiosity, are they reworking the VFX on this film? DareshMohan (talk) 10:13, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I've heard online chatter saying so. But don't know the details of it. I haven't followed the film since its disastrous teaser came out. In my opinion, the film is beyond saving, at this point. You simply can't rework your way out of it. Maybe I will be proven wrong. Let's see. Reo kwon (talk) 10:37, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Text was in the public domain. DanCherek (talk) 07:14, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello Reo kwon! Your additions to Sarva-Darsana-Sangraha have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 05:02, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The text is a translation from the 1880s. Wouldn't the book be out of copyright as over 100 years have passed since publication? That was the reason I have added paras from the book's introduction part. Reo kwon (talk) 05:06, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can tell, the contents of the book are in the public domain for the reasons that you stated, but the introductory paragraph in the description at [1] came with the 1996 edition of the book. Is that correct? DanCherek (talk) 05:53, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No. Even the 1996 edition adapted it from the preface of the original 19th-century edition. Check page no. 4 in this link. The 1996 edition intro was mostly adapted from it with only minor changes. Reo kwon (talk) 06:39, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Got it, thank you for clarifying and sorry for the mix-up! I have restored the content with an important addition: I added a {{PD-notice}} template to the citation to indicate that some text was copied from a public domain source. This is required by our guidelines; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources for more information about that. Thanks for your contributions to the article. DanCherek (talk) 07:14, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Important Notice

[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Maa Balaji moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Maa Balaji, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. More info: Thanks for your work. Though, with just one review with a link that is not working, this fails WP:NFILM or WP:GNG, I also couldn't find more refs per a WP:BEFORE search. Can you expand the Zamin Ryot review? DareshMohan (talk) 23:14, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Please check. Reo kwon (talk) 07:15, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@DareshMohan Where do we find the digital archives of Zamin Ryot or Andhra Patrika? I have an article in draft (Maa Balaji). It already has a review from Idlebrain and needs one more to submit for review. Reo kwon (talk) 11:13, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This website (http://www.zaminryot.com/archives/) has all of the reviews (usually on page 9). Click on the year you want and then click on the month (sometimes it takes a month to review a film, for example, a film released in January may be reviewed in February). DareshMohan (talk) 00:38, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Reo kwon (talk) 05:54, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Can you add the review of Ooyala (film)? DareshMohan (talk) 05:14, 12 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Your work is much appreciated. Can you also add the review for Preminche Manasu? DareshMohan (talk) 06:46, 12 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Reo kwon (talk) 07:36, 12 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for creating draft for Maa Balaji. Surprised by the lack of articles for Naveen's films. Created Draft:Korukunna Priyudu but can't find any other sources except for one review. Had the same issue with Draft:Manasulo Maata, Draft:Gamyam (1998 film), and Draft:Panchadara Chilaka. These articles are for Jagapathi Babu and Srikanth. Need help with sourcing. DareshMohan (talk) 09:13, 12 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's quite hard to find reviews for pre-2000 Telugu films. Idlebrain started off in 1999. Prior to that, there was only one notable Telugu film website, Telugucinema.com. There are many newspapers and magazines which are reliable sources, but they typically don't have archives that are digited and/or searchable. Reo kwon (talk) 10:24, 12 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There are two websites: Andhra Today and Andhra Online. Not sure if they are notable but they are better than nothing. There are two reviews for Rowdy Durbar (1997) (here and here) and two reviews for Rukmini (1997) (here and here). Just need your input on whether Andhra Today is reliable or not (they did cover Andhra related news). I think I will put off creating new articles for a bit because these two websites are likely unreliable.
Personally, I think it is best to continuing improving Telugu language film articles from 1997, 98, 99 etc. so they don't get deleted like Swapnalokam did despite having a Zamin Ryot review. Sorry for all these requests but it is necessary. Can you add the Zamin Ryot review for Aahvaanam? DareshMohan (talk) 21:22, 12 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Both Andhra Today and Andhra Online seem like early web portals like Yahoo and Rediff, focused on AP. They also have regional and national news. I browsed through both sites. They were mostly covering events and news. I did not find much gossping. It seems they are not a bad source per se. What are the criteria for a reliable source? At least for movie reviews, we can include them. Reo kwon (talk) 05:28, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Times of India, The Hindu, and Deccan Chronicle also review/cover Telugu films. There should be a way to access their archives. Reo kwon (talk) 06:13, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The Times of India, The Hindu and Deccan Herald archives can be found at cscarchive.org although nobody has told me how to find them. Typically reliable sources involved hired professional writers, you can ask at Wikipedia talk:Reliable sources/Perennial sources. DareshMohan (talk) 20:11, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Translation

What is the translation of Oka Radha Iddaru Krishnula Pelli? Is it something along the lines of "a marriage between one Radha and two Krishnas"? DareshMohan (talk) 02:38, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that's the translation. "Marriage/wedding of one Radha with two Krishnas". Reo kwon (talk) 04:37, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have just created this. What does this review say about the film? I simply added the link from Telugu Wiki, but to an otherwise empty Reception section. Does this also say anything? Kailash29792 (talk) 00:43, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What does the title of the review on page 11 say? Kailash29792 (talk) 05:24, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Title: Neti Savithri fails to reflect the psyche of today's women. Author: Alluru Raheem.
Vijaya Productions, maker of some old evergreen films, disappoints the audience with its latest film Neti Savithri, made after a long hiatus. The film does not reflect Telugu nativity. Plot points like the protagonist giving away her mangalasutra would only happen in films, but not in real life. Characterisations of Manju and Narasihmam are inconsistent and too cinematic. However, Revathi and Gollapudi have given commendable performances. As the cast is peppered with mostly Tamil actors, it feels like a dubbed film for Telugu audiences. Dialogues by Akella are cliched. I would not write about the technical crafts, as I could not find their craftsmanship anywhere. Visu who had earlier made many sensible films on women's issues failed with this film and diminished the standards of Vijaya Productions. Reo kwon (talk) 08:55, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I mean the Telugu script. Can you add it to the reference please? Kailash29792 (talk) 08:57, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Done.Reo kwon (talk) 17:00, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It seems the Telugu-dubbed version of the film was reviewed by Zamin Ryot here. What page does it come on, and can you please add the Telugu title, replacing "Archived copy"? Kailash29792 (talk) 13:44, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's on pages 11 and 12. But, the cast and crew are entirely different.

Edit War

[edit]
Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Carnatic music shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
Please use the article talk page first resolve the issue. Do not make any changes otherwise. -- Ab207 (talk) 13:12, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that I have added only information from high-quality academic sources which the other person removed without any valid reason. Callanecc, Reo Kwon is an experienced editor who has no excuse for not being aware of the rules against edit warring. See for example this warning in July 2023. They've made six reverts [!] to Telugu-Kannada alphabet in the space of 16 hours. Reo Kwon, you have been blocked from the article for two weeks. You can request unblock from an uninvolved administrator by placing {{unblock|your reason here}} on this page. Bishonen | tålk 11:33, 30 September 2023 (UTC).[reply]
Check the edit history of User:CatTheMeow. I have highlighted this previously too. He keeps on reverting sourced content from independent reliable sources. I have opened talk page discussions on all the pages disrupted by him. Please check that. Since there is no admin to interfere in disruptive editing and at least make the disruptor engage in dialogue on the talk page, I have done it myself. Please check the edits carefully. I have asked the person to explain his edits on the talk page but that didn't happen. If you check my old edits, you will know that I generally engage in talk page dialogue in case of disagreements.
Even the previous waring you cited was also due to the same person and his disruptive editing. His edits on Carnatic Music page are clear cases of POV pushing and disruptive editing. He was removing content sourced from 3-4 high-quality academic sources. Ideally, if somebody had looked after the pages, I would not have had to revert it myself.
I am asking again. Please check the edits I mentioned above, you will know who is engaing in disruptive editing. Also, I highlighted this user's beaviour on the same Carnatic Music page previously too. But, no action has been taken and he is repeating the same thing again and again. Check that person's edits first and the edit history of the pages I mentioned. It's frustrating to put so much effort into finding quality sources and editing these pages and then see some disruptor without knowledge of wiki policies remove them and on top of that to have no other people actually check the edits and enforce the rules. Did you notice I said you need to post the template {{unblock|your reason here}} on this page in order to call an uninvolved admin here to review your block? As the blocking admin, I'm going to leave any review of your argument to such an admin. I will remind you, though, that even if you're in the right, it does not mean you get to violate the WP:3RR. Bishonen look at his edit at Carnatic Music again, the user Reo kwon is running Language Chauvinism despite C.Fred solved the issue by reverting back to best revision, the user doesn't seems to be Wiki friendly and brings all his personal angress, offended behaviour in Wikipedia, despite several sources provided to him he runs his own emotions regarding his language and doesn't explains anything regarding his Wiki vandalism in many Wikipedia pages CatTheMeow (talk) 09:12, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's not about any particular user. All claims should be cited from reliable sources. I have corrected the errors which contradict the sources. C.Fred can correct me if I am wrong. Reo kwon (talk) 05:17, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Telugu Language

[edit]

You recently made an edit in the page: 'Telugu Language'.

You deleted the content in the section "Pre-historic Telugu" (which is now reverted) with the comment, 'uncited statements'.

However, each and every paragraph in that section is provided with a proper citation from reliable sources.

Rather than deleting them, please provide specifications regarding the 'uncited statements', so that the citations can be corrected/provided with even more reliable ones, instead of totally removing them.

Thanks. Anandwiki.ind (talk) 12:14, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, I convey my heartful thanks to you for appealing to protect the page.
I've been trying to do this since a long time, but I couldn't. Anandwiki.ind (talk) 12:18, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
See, if you needed those citation needed sentences, you could have restored them from edit history, instead of reverting the entire edit. I have been editing the page for 2-3 years now, and in such a long time nobody has provided citations to these sentences. In such case, it would be wise to remove those lines. I have added refs for some lines.
These are the lines that have been removed. You can re-add them if you have the necessary citations. And, don't revert an entire copy edit when all you need is revert of a few deleted sentences.
1. There are competing explanations for the original homeland of Pre-historic Telugu speakers, with some identifying it with the ancient Krishna Godavari Basin and others with the border region of Telugu States and Chhattisgarh.[citation needed]
2. During the time of Nannayya, the literary language diverged from the popular language. It was also a period of phonetic changes in the spoken language.[citation needed]
3. Tikkana wrote his works in this script.[citation needed] Reo kwon (talk) 12:34, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies.
I've just realised that you have formatted the content in the section: "Pre-historical Telugu".
Thanks for that.
And regarding the deleted statements, I shall discuss the alternative reliable citations in the talk page and I'll add them only after they are reviewed.
Thank you. Anandwiki.ind (talk) 12:39, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
From "Pre-historical Telugu", only one sentence is deleted (no. 1 in the above list). You can re-add it with sources.
If you need any help regarding the article, I would be happy to chime in, based on my availability.
