Deletion of "Hero Envy" Wikipedia Page
Could you provide me a good explanation on why there is a list of internet television shows on your site with links to pages such as "Chad Vader","Break a leg" and numerous others. They are webisodes just like ours but still exist on your site.
I understand the whole not promoting yourself or sites but i'm scratching my head as to why those pages exist when they are the exact same thing as us.
Thanks for your time Keith —Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.211.154.94 (talk) 19:35, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
- Replying here as the message was from an IP and there's no guarantee the IP will see it otherwise. Wikipedia isn't perfect and the fact that other pages that shouldn't exist haven't been deleted isn't a valid reason for retaining another article. See WP:WAX. Spiffier triple crown, new awards available
Hi, I've been sprucing up the triple crown awards. Here's the new version of the standard triple crown you've already earned. Feel free to replace your old one with this if you like the new version better. I've also introduced two new triple crown awards for editors who've done a lot of triple crown work: the Napoleonic and Alexander the Great edition awards. If you're active in a WikiProject, check out the new offer for custom WikiProject triple crowns. I'll make those upon request if five or more editors qualify. See User:Durova/Triple crown winner's circle for more information. Thanks for your hard work, and cheers! DurovaCharge! 22:01, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Yes I did tag that speedy a bit quick. I thought an Admin would wait the four days but it was gone in like five minutes! I didn't check the Deletion log so I don't know who deleted it? I tell you what. How about we recreate the page (empty of course) wait four days and then get it deleted? LOL, just kidding :-) Your right about the bot. Would have made the job much easier. It was fun though and I enjoyed myself doing it. I'm new around here and it's interesting learning how to do things. Leaving stuff for others to do doesn't let me learn how things work. I like it here but I'm wondering if I'm anal retentive enough? I do know one thing though. What I've done with the domesticated pigeon bred categories etc is the right thing to do. This is an area I am experienced in have been a pigeon fancier for many years. Wikipedia needs editors with the kind of hands on experience I have in my subject. Just like it needs people like you experienced with what it is you do. I'm still learning and appreciate getting cut a little slack at times. I am looking more into Wikipedia policy as I go. I'll be sure to better familiarize myself with CfD. Cheers, Sting_au Talk 07:09, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Closing request
This message has been addressed to you because you happened to be around at the time. I've sworn not to close fiction AfD's, and will likely get yelled at even if I do so purely on procedural grounds. It's on the latter that I ask you to speedily end Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Warcraft characters (2nd nomination) if that's in accordance with your own judgement. The delay between nomination and renomination is smaller than I've ever seen it approved to be after a single-article nc, and that's not the kind of behavior we can permit if we don't want the encyclopedia - or at the very least its coverage of fiction - to tear itself apart under internal strife in a couple of years. --Kizor (talk) 00:10, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Don't know what was up with that image? When I tagged it it wasn't doing anything for me. I went back and it eventually turned up five minutes later. What on Earth have you protected the page for? The vandal has been reported and will be blocked soon. Alientraveller 22:20, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
- Additionally, the IP clearly refuses to discuss this matter and has violated WP:AVTRIVIA, WP:CS and WP:NPOV. Seriously, what are you doing? Edit-war is no reason to protect a page just because of one unreasonable editor. Alientraveller 22:21, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
- If anything, block that IP for violating 3RR, and let someone restore the GA-article to its former glory, untainted by trivia. Alientraveller 22:22, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
I must say this has turned into a circus, and all because one editor can't even click WP:AVTRIVIA. Why have policies when we're going to be so light on people? Oh well, it's late and this is getting more muddled by the second. I advise you unblock the article or revert it yourself. A friendly word of wisdom from someone who lives by logic as much as I can. Category:Jewish historians
Hi, Thanks for taking the time to explain what prompted your proposal -- it seemed rather cavalier, which was at odds with what I've seen of your participation in CFDs. There are, to be sure -- occasionally -- sub-categories that can be dealt with as a bit of routine maintenance. But categories like this require serious thought and reflection -- I'm sure I don't need to belabor the point any further.
On a related subject -- I was impressed to see that you had taken the time to notify the creator of the category (which I was about to do myself). Unfortunately, very few of our fellow editors do that, which only serves to reinforce the impression that CFD is a sort of "insiders' club". I had a very good discussion about this recently with User:Black Falcon which I think you might like to have a look at (it's the first section on his talk page). One tangible result that I think you will like was a nifty little template for notifying category creators about CFDs, which I have been putting to use for the last few weeks. (It's linked from the discussion.) Regards, Cgingold 11:33, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

regarding the deletion you made to the userbox on your ex-adoptee's profile, I think under Wp:civ, this is not allowed... you cant edit another users page without their permission... im not having a go or anything... but just in case you didnt know. Thanks Iamandrewrice 14:53, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
I am not saying that you were right or wrong to unnadopt him (although from what I have seen he does seem to have some good intentions... hopefully he can be developed into a skilled user)... I was just simply informing you that to my current knowledge, one is unaible to edit another users page. However, i am fairly new myself, so sorry if I seemed suggestive of anything else. Well, I do not have problems with my userpage. However, when I started editing something and clicked "Show Preview", the category did appear but there was no place to click "Save Page". I clicked on the place at the top of the page where it is written "user page" (near "discussion")and the category disappeared along with what I just previewed.--Idontknow610 13:19, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism-fighting
- I don't believe that the two templates you tagged for speedy are inflamatory, if used correctly, which is why I tried at least to be very clear on the intent of their usage. Regardless, I can understand the issue but think (and hope) that this concern is outweighed by the need to have the centralized vandal area. Any user could remove the template from their page, so it's transitory as well. Anyway, thanks for fixing my error of the NOINCLUDE tag (rather, the error of forgetting them!) on the template. I do appreciate the process you are using, especially as an admin, even if I'm not in total agreement with the need to remove the templates. VigilancePrime (talk) 21:31, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- Very good. I do appreciate your handling of this; I have seen poorly-handled issues before (and have been disenchanted). I never claim the template to be perfect, and though it is designed to be obvious and attention-getting, I tried to make it not sound like a "look at this user who is a jackass!" or something like that. I try to be factual but direct (and concise, mostly). Anyway, what I'm getting at is that perhaps a better solution would be to modify the templates instead of removing them? I feel that they serve an important purpose, maybe not perfectly, but an important purpose nonetheless that at least should be preserved, even if, perhaps, in a slightly different form. Thoughts? VigilancePrime (talk) 21:39, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- What is "userfying "? You're right that the only discussion on the CVU page is mine... I was trying to draw out discussion and nobody had commented! (I'm shocked and dismayed!) I'll pull them from the two existing pages at your recommendation and see what other CVU-ers think of the matter. Anything else I need to or ought to accomplish? VigilancePrime (talk) 21:48, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Good Article review?
- Not to seem bothersome, but I saw that you have been a significant contributor on a couple Good Articles and, as an admin, assumptively have the requisite knowledge and experience to determine the potential and needed enhancements for an article to achieve that status. Therefore, would you be able to take a look at the Capybara article please? I submitted it for a Peer Review but haven't gotten anything back on it except for this automated review (which was quite helpful). The German Wikipedia (translated here) article on Capy was/is a featured article. Anyway, I appreciate any help, guidance, or thoughts you might have on the topic. Thanks! Question
Not aimed at you, phrased in the future not past tense but that's a subtlety that could have been missed. Besides, you are one of the most consistent participants at XFD on race/gender/ethnicity/religion categories. I think, as do you, that that cat should go. What I didn't want is the group of people who want to delete all "Jewish" things but keep all other religions or ethnicities (plenty of these people about) to be encouraged to !vote delete - I don't want or need support from those kinds of racists. It seems to have discouraged at least a couple who no doubt considered participation. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 01:12, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Questions...
Hello. I noticed that you've been a really good admin over these past few months, and have this question. I did not write this article, but had been looking forward to reading it, as it is someone I know. He's not really a friend, but he's an acquaintance. The article is named Evan Pittman. The guy's an exceptional writer - maybe even the next Stephen King - and I think he deserves to have another chance on Wikipedia. I noticed a page mimicking his was deleted earlier this year. I just want to do him justice. If you could, would you put this up for debate? I know about 250 people who would like to see this article, including myself. Please reconsider what you've done, as he has led an interesting life, that many readers would fin comical to here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikimetal54 (talk • contribs) 01:47, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Re: I am an administrator which means I have access to certain functions to help maintain the encyclopedia, including the ability to delete or protect pages. If you are here to ask me why I deleted an article that you wrote, or an image that you uploaded, please check the reason that I gave when deleting it and read the speedy deletion criteria to see what the problem is. If you still disagree, please explain (politely, of course!) why you think I applied the wrong criteria, and I'll take another look.
In my case, you haven't even explained the criteria. I can expect that you will ride roughshod over anyone whose views you don't like. You expect others to be polite, but you just act in a very arrogant and mean way. Wallie (talk) 20:36, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
OK. I see your point. My point is that if the encyclopedia goes this way, only pop singers will be considered and not opera singers. The encyclopedia seems to be becoming an outlet for market communications rather than an encyclopedia. I can imagine that in 500 years' time, there will be a 60 page article for Mariah Carey, and Mario Lanza and Caruso will not even be mentioned. It is a pity, really. vandal not blocked
Hallo, I'm interested in your "removing IP, no edits in the last 90 minutes" comment. Could you explain the policy here? This editor had a vandalism4 warning a couple of days ago, vandalised again today. Can they continue to vandalise once every day or two indefinitely? I suppose it's a question of what "is active now" means - is it in terms of minutes, or days? I had hoped they would be blocked to indicate to them that we mean what we say in the vandalism4 template. Otherwise, what's to stop them continuing to introduce rubbish into WikiPedia drip by drip, wasting time of other editors who have to revert it - and risking damage to WP if the edits aren't spotted promptly? ...for your support in my recently closed Request for Adminship. I am more than a bit stunned by the outcome, which appears to have finished at 146 supports, no opposes, and one abstention. I am particularly grateful to Keilana and Kingboyk for their recent encouragement, and most specifically to Pastordavid, for having seen fit to nominate me. I also want to make it very clear to everyone that I have no intentions of changing my name again, so the servers should be safe for a while.

By the way, I know the image isn't necessarily appropriate, but I am rather fond of it, and it at least reflects the degree of honor I feel at the result. And it's hard to go wrong with a Picture of the Year candidate.

Alfred Hazel
Please could you review your source for Alfred Hazel (North, Sir Peter (2001). "College Notes and News". The Jesus College Record: 6.) The article states that "Hazel also played football for West Bromwich Albion and later became a director of the club." I have scrutinised The Who's Who of West Bromwich Albion by Tony Matthews and can find no mention of this person as either player or director. This is surprising as the book lists every player, manager and director from the club's formation in 1878 until 2005, including wartime guest players. I have also checked other books on West Bromwich Albion and again can find no mention. If you are unable to provide further information on his Albion career then I propose that the sentence be removed from the article. --Jameboy (talk) 22:31, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

And most importantly, do you think they translate well enough to Welsh settlements? Re Talk:Muslim/comments... I was going to place a resolved tag, but I figured you would come up with something more creative. Cheers —Travistalk 02:46, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

hi
Can a cool admin help a guy out? I want to add one sentence to the world of Wikipedia. But I can't. The sentence is factual, provable, reliable (I chose the New York Times version.)
Fact: Circumcision is believed to decrease a man's risk of getting HIV Fact: Circmcision is believed to INCREASE a man's risk of getting herpes and chlamydia, and some think even other STD's.
The article on "circumcision" mentions the term HIV probably 100 times (I'm not joking) and mentions "herpes" or "chlamydia" not Once.
Can a cool admin stop two guys named Avraham and Jakew (the site's dictators) from deleting my ONE sentence I want to add? Thanks here's the New York Times article... http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?sec=health&res=9C07E4D91F3AF931A35757C0A961958260&fta=y
I used to love Wikipedia until I went to add a sentence, you know? Well, thanks. 70.114.38.167 (talk) 06:36, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Hey! Sorry if I didn't put the tag correctly on this article. The guy created the article himself, about himself, so I thought the self-promotion tag was correct, but you declined it. Is there something else I could do to get this article considered for deletion? Thanks! MightyAtom (talk) 09:51, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks! I went ahead and added a prod, so we will see how that goes! MightyAtom (talk) 10:01, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Semiprotecting Bobby Robson
Yeah, not being an admin I can't technically semi-protect, but I hope everybody understood. Sorry for any harm done, but I think it was worth protecting until the source of the vandalism was fixed. -kevin talkemail 23:41, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks!
I was showing that just because a speedy is placed on a page doesn't GUARANTEE its removal. It is reviewed for deletion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.83.231.100 (talk) 22:02, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
re: Deleted template
I see. I was just noticing the entire roster of the football club being listed in Category:Candidates for speedy deletion and was removing the template to clear the articles out of that category. I hadn't realized there was a replacement template. I'll replace the template on the rest of the articles I edit. Regards, Resolute 22:54, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
Books about Anglesey
Annwyl Bencherlite: I publish a few books about Anglesey under the imprint 'Llyfrau Magma'. I recently visited the Anglesey pages of Wikipedia for the first time, and, believing that adding the titles to the relevant bibliographic sections would be acceptable, entered the information. I understand, from a message you have posted, that this infringes Wikipedia's rules. Is there a way in which such entries can legitimately be made? Sincerely, Robert Williams —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.20.54.63 (talk) 01:51, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- Diolch am eich neges. Adding details of books you publish is likely to violate Wikipedia's guidelines on conflict of interest. If weblinks are involved, it is likely to breach guidelines on advertising. Adding such details using the name of the publisher as a username, as you did, is a breach of the username policy. If the books really are useful and appropriate additions to the article, then someone else will add them. I hope that this helps to explain the position. I'm sure you were acting with the best of intentions, but it's probably best to read these guidelines before you edit Anglesey-related pages in future. Digon teg. It's hardly a hot topic I know and I guessed the number of edits wouldn't be considered significant. I'm probably a bit over annoyed about it, as someone poined out the 'funny' article on maes-e (actual site currently down today) which then prompted 5-6 others to have a go as well - shame they couldn't put as much effort into genuine articles or better still the Wicipedia. If the current revert I've made is changed again, I'll leave it for a few weeks in the hope the editor will forget about it, although in the past this hasn't worked. Is it possible to delete the associated image] though - I'm not 100% sure, but I think it may well be a photo of people with special needs? Hwyl --Rhyswynne (talk) 12:00, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
leicester to athens
i feel that it was unfair you deleted this as how can a charity event be advertitising, of course the website was on there.
can you please tell me what to take of it/add to it to make it ok to put on wiki?
Many thanks Johnsy1985 (talk) 14:35, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Is it better to correct the articles that have [2] BEFORE proposing for speedy deletion? 58.177.85.161 (talk) 12:18, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your help there. I wonder if you may see the answer to something I'm puzzling over? According to The History of the University of Oxford, under statutes of 1549 the Regius Professor was to lecture four times a week "on the Pandects, the Code, or the ecclesiastical laws of the realm". No problem with linking Pandects, and for now I've linked 'Code' to Corpus Juris Civilis#Codex Justinianus, but the term Codex Justinianus seems to be widely used (though not in our article) as another name for the Corpus Juris Civilis, and the Pandects are part of that. Is it clearer to you what the history means by 'the Code'? If it's the Codex Constitutionum, then we seem to lack an article on it. Regards, Xn4 03:14, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads up & your response at enquiries. I'm glad I used a long edit summary for once! Johnbod (talk) 01:53, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
Dreger Clock Article Stub question...
Hi,
I saw that you made my basic info about the Dreger Clock into a "stub article" for additional info to be added...
(I am brand new to Wikipedia -- as far as adding or editing, so forgive my ignorance on this matter... if you can help or advise... that would be great.)
I started the stub article about the Dreger Clock. It was my Great-Grandfather who built the clock, and Knott's had some historical info on it, but not much. My family (myself, my mother and my aunt) is the only ones who really have the bulk of the info and history of it. including historical newspaper articles and photos) So that is why I put up the basics.
I know that there is a policy against doing articles about yourself or relatives... not sure if this counts since the only info about this 70 year old historical icon of Buena Park comes from my family. It is currently being restored by the Buena Park Historical Society, but like I said, most of the info about it -- people know because of the site I set up to share its history.
So... is it ok for ME to add more to this article stub... photos... more text and content... or do I have ot wait for some other "unbiased" writer to do so?
Thanks,

Ara Baliozian
Thanks, I have updated the username and awaiting response. Also, can you explain whether the Ara Baliozian Ara_Baliozian edit was incorrect? I simply added an external link to Ara Baliozian pages and where he posts. His Wikipedia page states 'He now mostly posts his works on different Armenian internet discussion boards' and you can clearly check that those pages are good examples. Let me know if those edits can be reinstated. Thanks. armenianmatch (talk)
shiny New user name
Thanks Bencherlite... thanks for the advise on the articles I have been editing and adding too! The Wikipedia can seem very intimidating to new users. Good to find people who help like you.
