Speedy deletion of Leicester to Athens Rally
[edit]A tag has been placed on Leicester to Athens Rally requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit]Sentences such as "You may enter as many teams as you want as long as you raise the enterence [sic] fees", "please respect speed limits and drive carefully. If you fail to do this you will not be allowed to take part and disqualified", "I am currently trying to find a charity that will be willing to take the cars of us at the end. If you know of any please get in contact." etc showed that this article was an advert, not an encyclopaedic contribution to Wikipedia. Please don't resubmit an article on this topic unless you can show, using reliable sources, that this event is notable. Any such article should not be written as an advert - see WP:SPAM. But, in fact, given your close connection with the topic, it's probably a good idea not to write about it: see the guidelines on conflicts of interest. I hope this explains why I deleted it. Please let me know if I can help you further. Regards, BencherliteTalk 17:10, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
