A tag has been placed on Gisozi (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

Invitation to participate in a research

[edit]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:08, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Add a Fact survey and thank you

Thank you for testing out the Add A Fact browser extension! This extension was developed as an experiment by the Future Audiences team at the Wikimedia Foundation to learn about new ways of contributing to Wikipedia from outside of our website/apps.

We are planning to wrap up this experiment this December, sunsetting the extension and publishing our findings on-wiki. We’d like to invite you to take part in an exit survey to tell us more about your experience of trying out the extension, and to share any ideas you have about how to support new ways of contributing to Wikipedia. The survey is anonymous (see the survey privacy statement) and should take about 10–15 minutes to complete.

You can take the Goole Forms survey here.

Please reconsider your close here. Redirects

[edit]

Hello, BD2412,

You are a page-making machine! But I have a question for you. When you are creating redirects, who do they first show up as broken redirects like here? I get a slew of broken redirects that show up on my broken redirect Quarry query. I realize that you quickly fix them but I'm just curious why they are initially broken when you create them. Thank you for any insight into the process you can provide. Liz Read! Talk! 02:11, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Liz: I feel like we have had this conversation before, but maybe it was with someone else. I have a two step process to make these sortname redirects with AWB, the first being to create the page by substituting the page name of the redirect target, and the second being to remove the part of the page name that is superfluous to the redirect. The should only exist as broken links for a few minutes. BD2412 T 02:15, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Antifreeze" slander at Breyers

[edit]

Could you please browse the article and talk page history to give guidance on what should be a straightforward stub article about an ice cream manufacturer - Breyers? The Breyers story is simple and should be quite easy to describe, as I have been trying to do, but two users are insistent on raising an unscientific issue, which impresses as purposeful slander.

Users Graywalls and NutmegCoffeeTea have repeatedly disrupted the article with disinformation, trying to insert "antifreeze" (propylene glycol, PG) as a relevant, presumably dangerous, ingredient. PG is a safe, FDA-regulated additive in food manufacturing in specified small amounts. It is used worldwide in commonly manufactured foods. Referring to it as an antifreeze is intended to slander this or any food manufacturer, without a WP:BMI source to indicate it has had any health effects in consumers.

The antifreeze comment was cited in two low-quality sources 11 years ago when an opinion article in the Motley Fool showed a Breyers product label where PG was circled.

However, it has no relevance to Breyers products in 2013 or in 2024 (no longer displayed as an ingredient), and has no RS reference to justify a health concern in ice cream or any manufactured foods.

Both editors have persisted in the dispute, yet it isn't a disputable issue. Their behavior is incivil, but the long-term insistence on including the antifreeze comment indicates more than incivility.

This leads to a conclusion that they are only attempting to slander the Breyers brand. They are not making edits on the numerous other articles about ice cream producers.

I am considering ANI for both users to have TBAN, but hope this is something you can readily assess and advise for the appropriate next steps. Thanks. Zefr (talk) 05:18, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have looked at the RS/N and I've taken out the Motley Fool based source while retaining Random House sourced book. A reliably published source simply makes a connection what other things propylene glycol is commonly used in and a health effect claim is not being made in the article. From talk page discussion, the general consensus supports having some inclusion about it. Mentioning a common application, for example, saying polyester clothes is made of PETE, also used for bottles is not unreasonable. You have been trying to repeatedly remove any mention of propylene glycol, repeatedly despite there being rough consensus in favor of some mention. Reading through the comments and talk archive, it seems pretty obvious to me there's general consensus to include it in some capacity. Graywalls (talk) 05:56, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see the word "antifreeze" in the article at all. BD2412 T 15:17, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Zefr took it out on their own. Since they've invited you into this matter, I would love it if you'd look through the talk & and its archive and comment on the general vibe. thank you Graywalls (talk) 20:19, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations, and thank you for helping expand the scope of Wikipedia! We hope you will continue making quality contributions.

Since you have made at least 10 edits over more than four days, you can now create articles yourself without posting a request. However, you may continue submitting work to Articles for creation if you prefer.

If you have any questions, you are welcome to ask at the help desk. Once you have made at least 10 edits and had an account for at least four days, you will have the option to create articles yourself without posting a request to Articles for creation.

If you would like to help us improve this process, please consider leaving us some feedback.

Thanks again, and happy editing!
