Maria Sharapova tennis seansons

[edit]

Hi,please help create Sharapova's seasons in 2007,2011,2012,2013. --Chinyen Lu (talk) 01:30, 5 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure your stance on this issue, but there is a discussion going on at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2013 Maria Sharapova tennis season about trying to do away with certain seasonal articles. If you are for or against this please comment. Thanks. Fyunck(click) (talk) 19:27, 22 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
MasterMind5991, for the sake of clarity it needs to be pointed out that if this particular AfD results in a delete on the grounds stated then similar articles like 2014 Victoria Azarenka tennis season, which you created and significantly contributed to, will likely follow the same fate. This also applies to 2005 Maria Sharapova tennis season, 2009 Maria Sharapova tennis season and 2010 Maria Sharapova tennis season. --Wolbo (talk) 12:02, 23 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MasterMind5991! I was just writing to you to inquire about the fact that you removed a change I made to the page Adelaide Football Club, to distinguish it from the other professional AFL club Port Adelaide Power. You marked the change as "Inappropriate" in the edit summary, and I would like to know why you considered my change to be inappropriate. I consider it perfectly reasonable to wish to separate something to ensure others do not get confused. Your help would be welcomed. Please reply here, since I will now have your page on watch, and we can keep it all in one place! :) CharlieTheCabbie (talk) 16:14, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Season articles

[edit]

Hi there, thanks for making a start on all the club season articles, but why have you added the hidden text "All match reports must originate from the Fremantle FC website, NOT AFL.com.au. Thanks, MasterMind5991"? Surely we should be encouraging the use of independent refs, despite the claimed independence of the AFL/club websites, so I'm not sure why either AFL.com.au or club websites should be encouraged, or as you've put it, mandated. Tennis season articles - notability change

[edit]

There was a recent change in whether we keep certain yearly tennis articles. The change being they can only be created for players who have won at least one Grand Slam tournament singles title, onward from the year of their first title and provided they played at least 25 matches and reached a top 5 ranking during any year(s) without a Grand Slam tournament title. I was just starting to discuss this with Wolbo on his talk page. As the rule now stands both Victoria Azarenka's 2014 and 2015 articles don't make the cut. In 2014 she was ranked as high as No. 2 but only played in 24 matches. As least it's close. But 2015 she's ranked only 31 and may never attain No. 5 again. We might have to sandbox it till or if she qualifies. Anyway I though I'd let you know it's under discussion. Happy editing. Fyunck(click) (talk) 11:00, 23 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Violetta Degtiareva

[edit]

The article Violetta Degtiareva has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

It appears the subject was active only in the ITF and apparently did not attain the notability threshold necessary for ITF players. Indeed, the sources given both imply that she was fairly mediocre as professional tennis players go and her record backs that up. She clearly fails WP:NTENNIS. However, addressing whether she meets WP:GNG. There was some small amount of coverage in relation to her sudden death. Given that she had little coverage before and that the small amount of coverage was only in relation to her sudden death and physical beauty, I think that WP:BIO1E can be invoked, meaning she fails WP:GNG as well.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Jonathan Simpkin

[edit]

Hi just letting you know that the Simpkin signing is still unofficial, even though it is on the AFL website, AFL media is still an independent media outlet and will run these sort of reports where something may eventuate. Language such as "AFL.com.au understands..." "Hawks flag winner set to become latest Dons' top-up player" is speculative language and the signing is unofficial at the moment, and it's probably best to wait for a statement from Essendon or a more definitive article. Even though it is a very likely outcome he will be a top-up, we need to wait until an official "signing" announcement occurs. Thanks :) Flickerd (talk) 11:45, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Twinkle

[edit]

Hi, I don't know if it's something that you're interested in using, but with trade period coming up it may help. I've been using WP:Twinkle to help manage some of the player pages, it's a much quicker way of reverting and much easier to undo vandalism. I've also been using it to tag cautions on user talk pages, if it's something you're comfortable with doing, I've found that tagging user talk pages stops 95% of the vandalism. For example, the same IP that was vandalising Ty Vickery's page seemed to stop once I cautioned them on their talk page. It's very easy to use and helps out massively. Thanks, Flickerd (talk) 02:00, 10 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Do you know if you need to have administrator rights to use that Twinkle app? I've been on Wikipedia for nearly five-and-a-half years and I'm not sure if that is long enough. Normally, during the trade period, I open up the 'edit' section of any player's page in the anticipation that a trade is imminent, and once it's confirmed, I simply change the club template/s, club information, etc. with the edit summary "official - Dangerfield to Geelong" (for example). Yes, I do get annoyed when there is vandalism on any given page and there are multiple instances, so what I normally do is either revert to the earliest possible revision, but if it persists I do warn users or IP addresses over what they're doing. After that, most of the time it does stop, like you say. I would love to install Twinkle if I had the chance, but I feel that now is not the time to do it. Eventually I may get there. Thanks for your offer, though. MasterMind5991 (talk) 07:46, 10 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You don't need admin access, you just need to be autoconfirmed (which is generally four days and 10 edits, so it's one of the lowest requirements). I find it's a great help and thought it would be worth a mention as it's a very big time saver with managing vandalism and very easy to use. Flickerd (talk) 07:58, 10 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

IP vandal

[edit]

Hey, thanks for helping with the vandalism by the IP that has been vandalising the 2017 AFL season and kicks after the siren pages. Unfortunately the IP has been a long, long term vandal (I've noticed them for over 18 months). They're not really going to stop as they're constantly changing the IP and I've gone down the path of asking admins to block them and then they pop up the next day with a different IP. It's best to just keep pages they generally vandalise on your watchlist as there's a common theme with how they vandalise (keeping the user:talk pages is the easiest way to pick them up IMO). It's a bit frustrating, but I don't think they're going to stop unfortunately. Thanks, Flickerd (talk) 04:55, 5 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ebony Cavallaro requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Jordie Ireland moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Jordie Ireland, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. The only real coverage on the artist is minor and on niche local music websites. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) I noticed you've included the expansion maintenance tag at the beginning of the article, so I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the confirms on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. A tag has been placed on Shannon Marshall-McCormack requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Image source problem with File:Thank You Lowndesy.jpg

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Thank You Lowndesy.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F4 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:14, 26 November 2018 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones  (Talk) 01:14, 26 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:WWTBAM gameplay.png

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:WWTBAM gameplay.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 03:57, 21 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Leo Barry. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Describing the events as "embarrassing" is simply not acceptable on a BLP. Word the facts neutrally, or do not add them at all. The fact that you've been re-adding this since 2013 reflects very poorly. Coffee // have a ☕️ // beans // 06:25, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, 9Rush, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) In light of the Xerri drugs news, I went to Sharks' page as I wanted to see what was written there. Nothing What's written about the ASADA scandal? Next to nothing You created https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cronulla-Sutherland_Sharks_supplements_saga

Should there not be something added to the home page like Essendon has https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Essendon_Football_Club#ASADA/WADA_investigation_(2013%E2%80%932016)

What do you think?MaskedSinger (talk) 06:45, 27 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I don't think the Bronson Xerri saga has anything to do with the Sharks' ASADA scandal as occurred a few years ago. I believe the two are separate, as it has been ages since we last heard of the latter case (which was around 2011-14). MasterMind5991 (talk) 07:36, 27 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Avatar5991. I was wondering whether you might consider joining us, since you work on Australian TV-related articles anyway. If you are interested, please add your name to the list of active participants, and see our list of open tasks. All the best, Lotsw73 (talk) 05:15, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for the invite. I have added my name to that list, though please be mindful I will be intermittent (i.e. only when my time permits). Cheers, Avatar5991 (talk) 09:19, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Confusing edit

[edit]

Why did you do this: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Losing_My_Religion&diff=next&oldid=1211733370 when the article explicitly says that it's not about religion? ―Justin (koavf)TCM 10:15, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Are you going to remove this inaccuracy yourself or do I need to escalate this matter? ―Justin (koavf)TCM 01:42, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have access to a computer at the moment. Please accept my apologies and I will remedy this ASAP. Avatar5991 (talk) 02:02, 12 June 2024 (UTC) Avatar5991 (talk) 02:02, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Do you want me to undo it? ―Justin (koavf)TCM 06:29, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's done. Now, please let's move on. Avatar5991 (talk) 08:17, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks kindly. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 08:19, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Greater Western Sydney Giants Wacky Wednesday scandal has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:NOTNEWS violation for low level event with unlikely lasting notability

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
