TFL notification

[edit]

Hi, Lightsout. I'm just posting to let you know that Jessica Mauboy discography – a list that you have been heavily involved with – has been chosen to appear on the Main Page as Today's featured list for August 15. The TFL blurb can be seen here. If you have any thoughts on the selection, please post them on my talk page or at TFL talk. Regards, Giants2008 (Talk) 00:20, 23 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Destiny's Child, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Booty. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Re: The Sapphires

[edit]

A music artist's discography should be reflective of their contributions to music and an album shouldn't simply be excluded because it's a collaborative effort - this has been common practice in Wikipedia. australian-charts.com is NOT A RELIABLE SOURCE, it is a fan-made forum and has been labelled problematic by Wikipedia, which states that "use of this archive is discouraged"[1]. If you were to read the first four words of the ARIA article you linked it states "her first individual #1," if you were to read further it states she "previously scored a #1 album as a cast member of the The Sapphires film," just to be clear, this article attributes The Sapphires success to Mauboy and therefore should be considered as her album too [2]. In all due respect, all of the media's articles on the The Secret Daughter's release weren't because it was her first number 1 (which isn't true) but because she was the first aboriginal artist to DEBUT at number 1 [3][4][5]. This was even cited by Sony Music Australia (her record label) in a press release [6].

References

Wikipedia should be a site that promotes consistency and convenience, considering the previous classification of albums of split contributions and the fact that you're essentially omitting Mauboy's most successful album to date out of some technicality from a third rate website is ludicrous. It also promotes inconsistency and misinformation.

Sorry if I sounded a bit inflamed here, thanks for understanding, I think a similar argument like this happened 5 years ago but was unresolved on the "talk page" of the article. I love your dedication to the pages of Australian music artists, typically most of the edits are yours and you were even responsible for creating some of the pages which were probably time-consuming and painstaking to do. Thanks :)
