Highway articles

[edit]

You may have better luck working on articles at the AARoads Wiki, which has a more roads-specific focus and a roads-specific viewpoint on notability and sourcing criteria. Some of the comments you've received above aren't very helpful, as a state highway in Mississippi would actually meet WP:NROAD, and Google Maps is an acceptable source when used properly. (Just using the text "Google Maps" without supplying anything more specific is not helpful nor really appropriate though.) Imzadi 1979  21:42, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I will reiterate that you'll have better luck creating new articles at the AARoads Wiki. One immediate thing that you should be doing is adding a proper citation to the appropriate MDOT map, which on these shorter highways would be the county map. You should also be using the {{google maps}} template to streamline the citation to Google Maps. Imzadi 1979  00:59, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Asa "ClarkShark": you'll want to supply more than just two sources for an article. Because of limitations with Google Maps, you probably should be pairing a citation to that mapping site with at least the official paper highway from MDOT.
Given certain headwinds, otherwise perfectly acceptable and notable highway articles won't be approved consistently here. Once again, I suggest that you join the AARoads Wiki. The notability and sourcing paradigm there is a little different and more forgiving. Imzadi 1979  02:55, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Editing MOS: pages

[edit]

Regarding this edit, usually we don't just casually edit pages that are part of the Manual of Style. Stability in those pages is important, and substantive changes is usually proposed on the appropriate talk page first.

Now, that change you made was rather minor, but in that situation, it was also incorrect. I-69 is signed east–west from the interchange where it splits from I-96 on the northwest side of Lansing to the border at Port Huron. Thus, the direction in that example was correct.
