Please check religion in nigeria for correct figures
hey! Am trying to put in the correct figures of Nigerian Christians according Pew research. I am a nigeria citizen and i have and know more about Nigeria morethan you So restrained from editing what i added.. For more info check religion in nigeria — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dankafanchan (talk • contribs) 16:00, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
- Dankafanchan Wikipedia is not at all interested in where you are from, or what you "know" it is only interested in what Independent, Reliable Sources have already written about the subject.
The CIA factbook, as cited in the article, is generally considered such a source, is cited in the article, and it clearly states 40%, Pew Research also fairly reliable, and it states 80 Million - whereas YOU keep adding figures, which are NOT supported by the cited sources.
If there are alternative, Independent, Reliable Sources giving the figures you keep adding, then you must cite them, not just change the figures. If you continue entering false figures, as you keep doing, you will end up being blocked. - Arjayay (talk) 16:16, 20 July 2018 (UTC)

My edit on Barisal
Hello, I made an edit on the topic of "Barisal" which is my city - so I know all about it. Once you deleted the edit, I reverted it and put wikipedia link on "Barisal guns" which itself has reliable sources and I thought that is enough. Is that not enough evidence and source? This is a scientific phenomenon which even has an entry in Encyclopedia Britannica and many textbooks, and you are deleting mentioning that phenomenon. This sounds kind of absurd. Please tell me how you/I can revert it back - this information must be in that entry somewhere. Please follow the link on "Barisal guns" on Wiki to find out more. Thanks and please let me know.
- Hi DhanshiriM - thanks for your post, which I found near the top of the page. Please put new posts at the bottom of talk pages, and please sign all posts on talk pages with 4 tildes ( ~~~~ ) which will add your signature and a timestamp.
As for the point you raised, I must apologise; your first post at Barisal included no references or links, so I deleted it as unsourced, I thought your second post was exactly the same, but I missed that you changed the quotes i.e. "Barisal Guns" to wikilinks i.e. [[Barisal Guns]]. I have just reinstated your addition, and removed Barisal guns from the "See also" section, as we don't duplicate links used in the article. - apologies again - Arjayay (talk) 09:53, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
Jalpaiguri
About editing Contents About 'JALPAIGURI'.How much do you know about the district and it's people. It has majority of 'Rajbanshi' people who are some how neglected because of political and social reasons. These 'Rajbanshi' community is backward and cheated at multiple occasions.I didn't see a page about 'Rajabnshi' but I saw a page about their language.I don't know what did you mean by reliable. These are the people who never bother themselves about wikipedia. But I do care. How can some source be reliable better than the locals of Jalpaiguri.I do understand what you have said about giving liable sources but the way you deliver it to me is quit rude and as you are British you better get rid of your mastering behaviour. You better keep your nose stick to your own business.
Ashimipi (talk) 06:41, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
- Ashimipi
Firstly - Please put new posts at the bottom of talk pages, and add a section title (use add topic if you don't know how to do that manually)
Secondly, do not attack other editors, as you attacked me, or you will very quickly be blocked.
As for your point you appear to have a common misunderstanding about Wikipedia.
Wikipedia has no interest at all, in who you are, where you are from, or what you "know", it is also not interested in who I am, where I am from, or what I "know". Wikipedia is only interested in what Independent, Reliable, Sources have already written about the subject. These sources must also be cited, as references, to support any additions or changes you make to Wikipedia articles.
You say "I don't know what did you mean by reliable." It is very important that you do understand this, please read Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources which explains this, and WP:Verifiability for the reasons information must be sourced.
"the locals of Jalpaiguri" are not a reliable source, and what they "know" cannot be verified, so any such claims cannot be included in Wikipedia articles.
Please ensure that any future edits you make are supported by proper references - see Help:Referencing for beginners for how to do this
Thank you - Arjayay (talk) 10:17, 30 July 2018 (UTC)

Undoing changes without reason
You erased an edition in the wikipedia page of the Catalan Independence referendum of 2007 in which I stated that until now there is no evidence that the images of people voting twice or more are false. I would like to know if you have information that contradicts this or, if not, why do you think that information about people being able to vote twice in a referendum like this is not important enoug to be here.
- Proving a negative is always difficult, but anyone can claim that any images, or any other claims, are false, without presenting any evidence whatsoever; which is what you did, and why I reverted it.
You need to prove that the images are false, or at least provide evidence, from reliable, independent sources that they are probably false. - Arjayay (talk) 21:08, 10 August 2018 (UTC)

- User:172.254.120.214 - Why are you posting here? I have never edited the SS Pacific (1849) article. If you wish to make a complaint about another editor you could consider posting at WP:ANI, but it appears that your edit has now "stuck" and I suspect ANI will consider a complaint, about a single reversion, is rather trivial.

Guidance requested
Hello, You have reverted 6 of my edits citing, WP:Notdirectory; i read the section https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not#Wikipedia_is_not_a_directory and I don't understand which part of it I violated. There are 1700 temples under the management of Andhra Pradesh endowments department (through Trust Boards) and I am planning to create a page for all of them. To start with I have listed them in the district pages. I am learning to create individual pages for each temple in that list.
I am new here and you seem have plenty of experience. Could you please undo the deletion and guide me through the page creation process. Thank you. SaiLakkaraju (talk) 21:20, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
- Hi SaiLakkaraju Thanks for your message. As explained at WP:NOTDIR we do not want lists without context information. Furthermore, your entries totally dominated the articles to which they were added - e.g. at East Godavari district your list took up 10 screens, whilst the rest of the article took just 7 screens. The article is about East Godavari district, and should not be dominated by any subsection.
If you wish to create a List of Temples in East Godavari district. please read and follow Wikipedia:Stand-alone lists. I am also concerned about a possible copyright violation - the website you have cited clearly states it is copyright, so you cannot just copy vast amounts of information from their site and paste it into Wikipedia. I don't know how else you can obtain and format the information, but that needs to be resolved before creating multiple list-articles.
As for my undoing the deletions - no, I won't, but you can retrieve the information from the page history, click on your version of the page in the history, and then click the edit tab, this will allow you to copy the table including the wikicode - Arjayay (talk) 16:42, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
Greetings Arjayay, thank you for your reply. A small program reads input files and prepares Wikipedia tables for me. If you check the timestamps of my 6 edits they combinedly took me 30~40 minutes. That for copy pasting and manual verification. So, I am least bothered about your edits WRT data loss. There are more than 25 thousand temples in Andhra Pradesh and I will be documenting them online. I have chosen Wikipedia as once entered it will be stored for the rest of the life of Wikipedia as current or as history. I like your idea of standalone lists. May be that is the way to go. Build stand alone lists and populate them into new pages. Could you please also guide me to an article (template/ example) about creating a new page for a temple (church or mosque). Finally, coming to the copyright violation, I have provided references, have not used all the data (not even 10% of the website), I will check with my lawyer and will get back to you. Could you please guide me to the legal department of Wikipedia so that I can work with them as well. Thank you for your time and kind consideration. SaiLakkaraju (talk) 00:11, 25 August 2018 (UTC)
Thanks. See this RSN discussion. And this "Despite the technicaJ explanations and elaborate coding rubric, the underlying framework reflects the persistence of scientific racism and discredited anthropological classification systems. As a result, one theologian laments that the 10/40 Window concept and people group research are based on outdated anthropology, poorquality geography and questionable theology, and comments that this combination has become "another colonial burden that has to be borne" (Rynkiewich 2007, 225)." That's not in 10/40 window nor is this which I might ask for at resource request. Sadly it's widely used in our articles.[1]Doug Weller talk 14:08, 25 August 2018 (UTC)
- User:Doug Weller - I fully agree, it is a regular problem - especially in Indian sub-continent and African articles. Biryani
Hey Arjayay,
In that case, the only term that needs to be changed back is eggplant to aubergine. Chevon is the proper culinary term for goat meat regardless of the variety of English, as indicated on its page. My changes had many other grammatical corrections as well; could you revert it back and change the one word to aubergine? Also, in the future, could you post discussions like these on the article's talk page rather than just directly reverting changes?
Thanks, Varun — Preceding unsigned comment added by Getsnoopy (talk • contribs) 12:10, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Getsnoopy - firstly, please sign all posts on talk pages with 4 tildes ( ~~~~ ) which will add your signature and a timestamp
As for your request, there appear to be two problems:-
- In addition to changing "goat" to "chevon", you were substituting multiple references to "mutton" by "goat meat/chevon". Mutton is sheep, not goat, so you would need to provide references to justify each of those changes, not only to show that goat was correct, but also that mutton was incorrect.
- Although chevon may be "the proper culinary term" for goat meat, it is not widely understood. Wikipedia does not want to "dumb-down" its articles, but it wants them to be understood by as many people as possible. There is, therefore, a basic principle of WP:COMMONALITY, that we should use widely understood terms.
- As for your grammatical corrections, I will reinstate those shortly - Arjayay (talk) 12:31, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Arjayay,
- That is exactly my point. Biryani is almost always made with goat meat, not sheep meat. This is corroborated by citation 18 on the page itself and also by the article referenced here.[1]
- In the spirit of WP:COMMONALITY then, the choice term should be goat meat or simply goat since that's what its article is named. Mutton is simply incorrect in the places where I replaced it regardless of its popularity. The article also refers to certain varieties of biryani using lamb as the meat of choice which is unambiguous; you'll notice I didn't change these instances.

Secondly, please don't alter other peoples posts, as you keep doing with my post on your talk page.
You didn't give me a specific question, but I assume you want to talk about Chiranjeevi - As it says at the top of the filmography section, the main article is Chiranjeevi filmography which already includes the film you added. The separate Filmography is the place for the full list - it already lists over 150 of his films. We don't want to repeat the same information in the Chiranjeevi article, as it would dominate the article, and make the separate list redundant.
IMHO the 37 films currently listed in the Chiranjeevi article is already too long - people keep adding their "favourite" film, however, it is NOT a "full" list, so for you to call it that was an error.

- Ksiksiksi indiapicks.com which I reverted, is most certainly NOT a "reputable journal" - read its own "Disclaimer" here which shows it is a scrapbook of "various sources including picture postcards, books and internet. The author is not responsible for the correctness of the content". I am just putting his original identity, i am not promoting any caste. Its just about putting the fatcs which someone is trying to deceptively conceal.I have given references like statesman and a reputed one the international physical education journal.

Edits to ACT 2 CAM
Hi Arjayay, you removed the following line from Act 2 Cam in a recent edit, citing puffery:
The company is notable for their student-centred and and existential approach. They encourage and guide young people to celebrate their individuality, ask their own questions and develop their own unique understandings.
The company has a self-declared child-centred and existential approach, and has been reported as such in the media. I agree the second part of that sentence sounds gushy, but the first part is factually accurate.
Obsteve (talk) 19:40, 8 October 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Obsteve thanks for your post.
Wikipedia is not interested in what a company has to say about itself, only what reliable, independent, third-parties have published. This would include the " self-declared child-centred and existential approach" you refer to above. That is also a "Mission statement" which are also not allowed - please see Wikipedia:Avoid mission statements for the rationale. - Arjayay (talk) 08:30, 9 October 2018 (UTC)

Please explain your removal. What is unsourced? --85.211.171.152 (talk) 14:30, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
- Our edits crossed - At 14.21 you re-added the actor with a source, and the location, without a source. I, therefore, edited that version and removed the location as it was unsourced. However, in the meantime, between my starting to edit the page and my saving it, you had added a source. Normally, this would have given me an "edit conflict" warning telling me that the page had been altered in the meantime, but for some reason it did not. I then went back to revert my deletion, but you had done that yourself in the meantime. - Arjayay (talk) 14:38, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
- You are not making any sense. You have no excuse so you are just saying nonsense. There have been wikipedians like you who received their first block because of their ip biting. I will not report your behaviour in the Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents, but if I, you will definitely be warned if not blocked. Thank you--85.211.171.152 (talk) 14:51, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
falsifying data
You are falsifying data at Languages of India. If you have a problem with the sources used in the article, take it to the talk page.
Specifically, you are counting Maithili as Hindi while claiming you are not, and in addition duplicate it in the table, which means you're counting it twice. In addition, the census figure you're using is demonstrably incorrect. (There are about 40M speakers of Maithili, not 13M, because most speakers reported their language as 'Hindi' or 'Bihari' in the 2011 census.) Maithili also does not fit in the table, as the source does not use it. There's no purpose to adding languages to the table when we have no data for them (in this case, the number of L2 and L3 speakers). — kwami (talk) 00:00, 21 October 2018 (UTC)

Hi Arjay - could you be able to give you wisdom on the talk page of my article Stephen Church regarding notability - a fellow editor seems to beleive he does not meet notability. I am not asking for your supoort just your constructive opinion as I regard your opinion as good.Davidstewartharvey (talk) 12:26, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Davidstewartharvey - thanks for your post, however this is NOT an area of my expertise - although I did edit the article, this was just to correct "regulary" to "regularly".
As explained at WP:ACADEMIC many people think that the number of books/papers by the academic is what counts, rather than the number of references about the academic; however, in this case, there appear to be sufficient citations, about him.
The discussion on the talk page seems centred on criteria 3 of WP:ACADEMIC, whereas the requirement is just to meet one of the criteria, not all of them. I seem to recall that there are ways of using Google Scholar to assess the impact of an academic, but I have no idea how this works. Sorry I can't help further. - Arjayay (talk) 12:48, 3 November 2018 (UTC)- Thats ok Arjayay the page was reviewed by a new page reviewer and ok'd, so I have asked them as the have administrator rights too for their opinion. Fencepost limestone default size
Thank you for the instruction. I took me little a bit, but I found Wikipedia:Image_use_policy#Displayed_image_size on my own. I understand it now. The result of your changes did not wreck the layout.
- I personally prefer the margin images be generally larger than the gallery images though, and enlarging some of them with upright would be OK with you?
- The two lead images were set to fill in some of the annoying white space of of the TOC.
- The critical sections were I have the combined left and right images over a gallery look good as you left them.
- Even if it technically a text sandwich, I selected images that were not wide, and I like how the layout presents an arrangement multiple images around an intentionally limited amount of text.
- My style of 5 image galleries seems more stable using upright, thanks.
- I want the welcome post to be the height of the list.
- Benecke and Gardner are not meant to be seen in the small!
Thanks again! IveGoneAway (talk) 01:05, 10 November 2018 (UTC) 01:05, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
- Hi IveGoneAway
That is much better, but, personally, I don't like the images besides the ToC, particularly the over-sizing; although some (other) editors routinely move images that sandwich text or tables, but that was not my concern. I wonder if the number of images could be reduced? but again I'm happy to leave them as is.
Many editors do not understand that px prevents users choosing their own image size, to suit their screen, whilst others try to get a "perfect" layout without realizing that it can appear totally different on a small screen, a wall-sized screen, a tablet, or a phone.
Happy editing - Arjayay (talk) 11:07, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you. For me geology and historic architecture is a very visual subject. I think images in the lead crowd the text and accentuate the lead's isolation from the main that results from an overly long TOC (I wish I knew how to get the TOC limit to work). I have been taking pictures of the subject for 4 years, and I limited myself to 5 pictures per sectional gallery, one gallery per section. Under the identification and fossil sections, there is a lot of material, I would rather have pictures of the subject rather than text. If the choice was between a picture or a paragraph ... well, I did have a few cases where I had to come up with enough text to justify pictures I wanted to show ... which is a good thing because the text contributes the the subject.
- FWIW, I had no idea this was going on, but apparently there is a movement to make Post Rock Country a historic district. Last week they had a meeting in Lucas and discussed the Fencepost article:
- [The article is]] one of the most exhaustive resources about our region "Post Rock Country". It was also the subject of a meeting today at the theatre in Lucas, well attended and co-hosted by Kansas Tourism.'
- Thank you everyone for the help and opportunity. IveGoneAway (talk) 14:19, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
- Hi IveGoneAway
I have taken the liberty of changing {{TOC limit|1}} (which doesn't work) to {{TOC limit|3}} which just excludes the sections with more than 3 = signs, each side of the section title. If that is not what you want, please feel free to alter. - Arjayay (talk) 14:29, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
- Hi IveGoneAway
- Thank you, never thought that that 2 would mean one level, which is what i wanted. Thank you , again. I can now put the monument where I wanted, if I could have the TOC at one level.
Prayagraj District
Please don't revert my fully referenced edits which reflect the de jure name of this political sub-unit of the state of Uttar Pradesh. Whilst I can fully understand reluctance to change the smae of the settlement of Allahabad / Prayagraj due to COMMONNAME, I don't see how this applies to a district which is not a settlement but a political entity. There is president for the change as Faizabad District was renamed a few days ago to Ayodhya District and this is already reflected on Wikipedia (including a change in article title) with no controversy. Cordyceps-Zombie (talk) 16:28, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Cordyceps-Zombie - AFAIK it applies throughout the English Wikipedia, I know of no distinction between "settlements" and "political sub-units" The reader coming across the article may think they are in the wrong place when all the references are to a name other than the article title. - Arjayay (talk) 16:32, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
- Then perhaps it is the name of the article that needs changisn as in the case of the article relating to Ayodhya District. It is actually misleading telling the reader that there is a district in India known as "Allahabad District" when no such district now exists. Cordyceps-Zombie (talk) 16:35, 10 November 2018 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. INeedSupport(Care free to give me support?) 16:14, 17 November 2018 (UTC)

I've just revision deleted your reversion in order to hide the material from view via the article's history given that its a fairly serious BLP violation. Ilara Mokin page
I edited the Ilara Mokin page this November. Given the fact that my family is from the town, I assume I can edit the page. There were no instructions to add the references to the edits and If you asked me to before deleting, I would have. I didn't see anyone add any other references to the previously stated comments, so why? Thank you and I will reedit the page. 24.186.189.231 (talk) 01:09, 19 November 2018 (UTC) Oniwe
- Hi 24.186.189.231, firstly, please put new posts at the bottom of talk pages, not between other posts.
As for your questions, I don't think that coming from the town gives you a WP:Conflict of interest, unless you work for an agency trying to promote the town, but it may make it slightly more difficult for you to be impartial, and avoid including things you "know" - which Wikipedia does not accept - rather than just using sourced information.
The need for references to support edits applies to ALL Wikipedia pages, see WP:Verifiability. We cannot include all the requirements on every one of our over 5.75 million pages.
Although many edits have gone through without references, especially in the early days of the encyclopedia, that does not invalidate the requirement, or standards would get progressively worse, whilst we are trying to improve the content. As explained at WP:Other stuff, we do not accept bad edits in one article as a reason for allowing them in another.
I see that another set of very similar unsourced additions has since been made at the Ilara-Mokin article, which I have also reverted, along with the blank sections and the "notable people" who were not "notable" in Wikipedias use of the word, as neither person had an article. The same rules apply to people using an account as to people editing as an IP.
If you have any questions, please come back and ask here, or, as I am not always about, ask at the Help desk or the Teahouse - Arjayay (talk) 17:20, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
Sorry for the mistakes and thank you for clarifying. Is it good for me to post here? Thanks again, I am just new to Wikipedia editing. Oniwe (talk) 22:24, 26 November 2018 (UTC)Oniwe
Regarding Ayodhya Distict

Since the name is Ayodhya district now, so having article title as Faizabad district would be misleading....kindly either change article name to Ayodhya district to redirect it to the Ayodhya district page... Regards Thekkverma (talk) 10:28, 29 November 2018 (UTC)

- Dr Salman Chohan - Our lists of people are restricted to people with articles. If you feel that these politicians are notable enough for inclusion, then please WP:Write the article first - and, if/when the articles are accepted, they then can be added. Until then further re-additions will be seen as disruptive editing. - Arjayay (talk) 12:58, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
