Baton Rouge in IFL
[edit]I attended the Odessa Roughnecks game last Saturday and in the game program it has that Baton Rouge will have an IFL team next season. It was the first I have heard it. I don't really know how else to prove it.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Walton-and-Johnson.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Walton-and-Johnson.png. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. MECU≈talk 23:12, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Fair use problem with Image:Xfl-map.png
[edit]I notice you uploaded the image Image:Xfl-map.png with the {{logo}} fair use image tag. However, it appears that this tag is totally unrelated to the content of the image, and as a result it may qualify for speedy deletion. Image:Xfl-map.png has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.
If you can find a valid tag that expresses why Image:Xfl-map.png can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the {{logo}} tag that you have placed on it with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can reupload it but please ensure you place the correct tag on it. However, you must not remove the speedy deletion notice. Thank you, and please feel free to continue contributing to Wikipedia. -- Black Falcon 03:03, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
Hey
[edit]Regarding your comment on my talk page. A sockpuppet is a second account made by someone to hide their identity, usually made by blocked users. The reason I'm placed you as suspect for one is your edits at first seemed to match ones made by two anon IPs and another user (those can be seen on the page). Now, the comment about "knowing nothing about sports" was made by another user who I was holding a discussion with. Now, you say you're a former webmaster for a team, sadly to say, I would like proof if possible.
On a different note, I have noticed your edits to the team pages, and I must say thanks for uploading better quality images.
Actually... upon further review... seems like you're not a sock based of your edits, but the two anons and the other user are probable puppets. I guess I was a little hasty in my nomination. My apologies. --Whsitchy 18:44, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
- One more thing... forgot to mention, part of my reasons for reporting was because your's and the other user's names were really really close. --Whsitchy 23:34, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit]I understand - I didn't want to start an argument. Haven't had any contact with the Shivers since '99.
I guess I could have gone thru the trouble of re-typing it, uploading the logos, and making the links work. It was just easier to upload my signature pic and use that for right now. I had been working on past indoor football team wiki pages (as you know), but the last few days I been using my Wiki time collecting and adding userboxes to that profile page of mine. Fair use rationale for Image:NewOrleansVooDoo.gif
[edit]Image:NewOrleansVooDoo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:49, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Image:Blockbusteronline-oldlogo.png
[edit]I have tagged Image:Blockbusteronline-oldlogo.png as {{orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. If this image is being used as a link target instead of displayed inline, please add {{not orphan}} to the image description page to prevent it being accidentally marked as orphaned again. [edit]I fixed the Blockbuster (video store) Wiki page back to the way it should have been left. Someone (69.108.76.245) deleted all info about Blockbuster Video history, retail stores, etc. and left only the current Blockbuster Online (Total Access) info on the page. That is why the image came up as not belonging on any Wiki page. Arenafoot 02:16, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:2001JohnstownJdogs-logo.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:2001JohnstownJdogs-logo.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Pifllogo98.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Pifllogo98.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. [edit]I have tagged Image:Walton-and-Johnson-logo.png as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 16:36, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Centroplex-logo.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Centroplex-logo.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

WikiProject Arena Football League Newsletter - August 2008
[edit]The WikiProject Arena Football League newsletter
Issue I — August 2008 |
---|
{| width=100% style="background:none;"
|- |valign=top style="border:1px solid black; -moz-border-radius: 10px; background-color:#EEEEEE;"|
- Arena Football League only infoboxes have been created and need to be added to ALL AFL players. This infobox is for active AFL players only. However, this one is for players who retired from the AFL and NOT another league.
- Infoboxes are currently being worked on for af2.
- A few new templates have been created and added to the appropriate articels, however if you have ideas for a template leave them here.
- The assessment function has been added and the count is over 300 articles at the moment.
- Articles for the more popular and "star" players of the league need to be expanded, have citations added to them and hopefully we can get some GA's out of them.
- All articles on active players and coaches need to be updated with stats, news, and all things important. (Note: For stats it's best to use ArenaFan.)
- Also, we NEED to get things done so we can take them off of the to do list.
- After an almost 20 year wait, former Washington Redskins wide reciever Art Monk will finally be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, August 2, 2008, along with Fred Dean, Darrell Green, Emmitt Thomas, Andre Tippett, and Gary Zimmerman.
- The Philadelphia Soul and the San Jose SaberCats faced each other in the Virgin Mobile ArenaBowl XXII on July 27, 2008. The Soul defeated the SaberCats by a final score of 59-56. A big congratulations goes out to all the players and coaches who had a great season this year.
- It was reported by the Philadelphia Daily News that Philadelphia was still in the hunt to host the 2009 ArenaBowl, though it wasn't alone. In fact, interest has been shown by Hawaii to host the event.
- Will Pettis was announced as the AFL's 2008 IronMan of the Year.
- The Columbus Destroyers named Pat Sperduto head coach.
- On July 26, 2008 AFL commissioner C. David Baker resigned after 12 years.
- Pat O'Hara was hired as the head coach of the Los Angeles Avengers on July 25, 2008.
- Cleveland Gladiators head coach Mike Wilpolt was named coach of the year.
- Every year in August, in Canton, Ohio the Pro Football Hall of Fame inducts a new class.
- On August 31, 1997, Eddie George ran for 216 yards on 35 carries and one touchdown as the Tennessee Oilers, playing their first game in Tennessee, beat Oakland 24-21 in overtime at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis.
- Our goal is to get the number of Stub-Class articles down to 0, in due time. The current count is 185, and will probably be growing in the near future. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could help expand and/or source an article or two. A list is provided in the stub-class category of stub articles that need to be improved, and some should be fairly easy.

WikiProject Arena Football League Newsletter - November 2008
[edit]{| width=100% style="background:none;"
|- |valign=top style="border:1px solid black; -moz-border-radius: 10px; background-color:#EEEEEE;"|
-Needs-
- Articles for the more popular and "star" players of the league need to be expanded, have citations added to them and hopefully we can get some GA's out of them.
- All articles on active players and coaches need to be updated with stats, news, and all things important. (Note: For stats it's best to use ArenaFan.)
- Also, we NEED to get things done so we can take them off of the to do list.
-New-
- Standardized roster templates have been created for ALL AFL teams.
- New tables have been added to each team article for coaches. It is broken down into six columns. Column one is for the name of the head coach. Column two is for the coachs tenure there. Column three is the coaches regular season win/loss record (ONLY while with THAT team). Column four is for the coaches post season win/loss record (ONLY while with THAT team). Column five is for the coaches most recent coaching staff (if the coach is no longer there, list the coaches last coaching staff), with years that the coaching staff members have been there, the term coaching staff ONLY applies to Offensive Coordinator (to be listed as OC), Defensive Coordinator (to be listed as DC), Special Teams Coordinator (to be listed as ST Coordinator), Fullbacks coach (to be listed as FB coach), Linebackers Coach (to be listed as LB coach), Offensive line coach (to be listed as OL coach), Defensive line coach (to be listed as DL), Wide receivers Coach (to be listed as WR coach), Defensive backs Coach (to be listed as DB coach). And coach that coaches multiple positions is to be listed as QB / FB coach, with a / between each position. Also, the list should start with Offensive Coordinator, then Defensive Coordinator. Place line break (<br>) after each coaching staff members name, and between coaching positions (should the column become wider than what looks good). Column six is for notes about the head coach during their tenure with that team only. Lastly, be sure not to make the columns too wide, if the column becomes wider than what looks good, place a line break (<br>) in the sentence/note.

File permission problem with File:Arenafoot-webmaster.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Arenafoot-webmaster.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MBisanz talk 00:48, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (File:IsleofCapri-logo.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:IsleofCapri-logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. ZooFari 02:53, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:GBbombers.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:GBbombers.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors wanted at LSU
[edit]Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you are listed as a Wikipedian in Louisiana. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at Louisiana State University, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.
Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).
If you live near Baton Rouge and you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from the area who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 17:07, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Beast2001.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Beast2001.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.
Also:
This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:01, 21 January 2019 (UTC)
