Proposed deletion of Team Fortress 3

The article Team Fortress 3 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Per WP:CRYSTAL. There's no indication this game is in development. Article shouldn't exist yet, even as a redirect.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. April 2015

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Ujjwal Sahay has been reverted.
Your edit here to Ujjwal Sahay was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://www.ujjwalsahayofficial.blogspot.com/) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, fansite, or similar site (see 'Links to avoid', #11), then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 09:43, 5 April 2015 (UTC)

Hippocite listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Hippocite. Since you had some involvement with the Hippocite redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. Mr. Guye (talk) 20:31, 5 April 2015 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on TThe Binding of Isaac (video game), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from an implausible typo, or other unlikely search term.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you believe that there is a reason to keep the redirect, you can request that administrators wait a while before deleting it. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Go! (Australian TV channel), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Go. I've retargeted this to 7 Ps (military adage) which is a valid redir. I've changed the top of VVVVVV to suit this. Also created a redir from PPPPPPP. Peridon (talk) 10:35, 15 April 2015 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on YouTube bait requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about something invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Speedy deletion nomination of Triposo

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Triposo, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Grooveshark Clone

Hi, Anarchyte. I've reverted your addition of a screenshot of a knockoff/clone Grooveshark site to the Grooveshark article. A screenshot showing what the similarities between the clone and old Grooveshark sites might be more relevant after the clone site is up for more than a couple days, has a new Wikipedia article written for it and it is placed on that new article. The article at Grooveshark is still just about the now-defunct Grooveshark company/site and is not about clones/knockoffs/new companies. Thanks, Stesmo (talk) 02:25, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Egg Returns Home

The article Egg Returns Home has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable. No, or not much reliable sources can be found for this game

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Nominating Good Articles

Some advice on GA nominating. You shouldn't be just picking through a bunch of decent looking articles and nominating them. Typically articles are GA-nominated by people who have worked on them extensively and made sure they meet criteria. As an example, the last time Half-Life 2 was nominated it was by someone who had never edited the article and didn't check the GA nomination process, it was immediately failed:Talk:Half-Life_2/GA1. You nominated Devil May Cry (video game) which already reached good article status 8 years ago, it is now a featured article (that's higher than a good article). I can tell you that rest of the articles you nominated have a bunch of issues by just briefly glossing over them and would need work before reaching GA. You also rated Trine and Trine 2 B articles then immediately nominated them, both of them articles are closer to Start than B. The plot and gameplay sections on both articles have no references. It seems to me that you're rating articles based on length rather than quality without reading them and check for issues. --The1337gamer (talk) 11:47, 16 May 2015 (UTC)

@The1337gamer: Should I remove the tags? Anarchyte (talk) 11:58, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
I'd recommend withdrawing all these nominations for now. You need to actually make a lot of improvements to these articles before nominating them. Most of these articles are still incomplete and need lots of work done. Unless you're willing to put the time and effort in on improving them, they shouldn't be nominated yet. --The1337gamer (talk) 12:04, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
@The1337gamer: Done. Thanks for telling me. I'm new to editing wikipedia. Just wanted to try something new with GA articles. Anarchyte (talk) 12:21, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
I totally understand. If you want to start getting articles to GA, I'd recommending beginning with a single article first. Find a game or topic that you have an interest in and are knowledgeable of. Expand it, make improvements, and feel free to ask other editors for suggestions, help, or a peer review. Checked against the assessment criteria and article guidelines and when you're certain it is ready then go ahead with the nomination. --The1337gamer (talk) 12:31, 16 May 2015 (UTC)

speedy deletion of a page I created (Nvidia Shadowplay)

Hi, the page you want to delete due to copyright was created by me a long time ago, but its current form retains nothing of the original text I wrote on that page. What I wrote was in my own words and had no copyright infringement. As such your canned message on my page, which mentioned being blocked from edits among other things, seemed unkind and left me a bit upset. Also, while I do not dare suggest I understand the bureaucratic bloat that suffocates Wikipedia, would it not seem more sensible to just re-word the article (or revert it to a previous version) so that it does not have copyright issues. Olivier Doorenbos (talk) 09:32, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

@Olivier Doorenbos: Hi, sorry for the misinterpretation. I have since removed the tag and cleaned up the article instead. You can remove that message I left you on your talk page; if you want. --Anarchyte 09:44, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

Hello, Anarchyte. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Nuzlocke (Challenge), for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. TheLongTone (talk) 12:20, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

Removal of the PROD marker from Business Tycoon Online.

The page was up for deletion for 7 days already, you really should not of taken down the marker at that point simply because it had been admin edited for deletion at any time. Since then the article has been removed. If you really think this should be an article on Wikipedia then you can of course rebuild one, and hopefully have better luck than I in siting source material. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Peacekeeper 1234 (talkcontribs) 18:34, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

@Peacekeeper 1234: Sorry about that, I thought even if the PROD was expired it could still be removed. Will not happen again. --Anarchyte 07:07, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Zombie Highway Logo Android2015.png

Thanks for uploading File:Zombie Highway Logo Android2015.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 13:05, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

Re: Redesign

I think it would be best to post your opinion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games. I'm probably not the best person to ask on a redesign. The page is a group effort. GamerPro64 03:22, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

@GamerPro64: done. Also, (I'm new to the whole thing) should I just put a {{not done}} marker on things that won't be done or should I remove them entirely? I'm just putting markers on them for the moment. --Anarchyte 05:17, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
If there's no possibility that an article can be made on the subject matter, its probably best it gets removed from listing. Also, welcome to Wikipedia and the project. GamerPro64 05:31, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
@GamerPro64: for the moment, I'll just say {{not done}}, if you want to remove anything I tag as that feel free, you can also remove the {{not done}} if you believe there's available resources. --Anarchyte 07:35, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Reassessment

I'm a tad confused about your decision to switch the article's rating from C-class down to Start class. Could you clarify your reasoning for me? I can understand the part about expanding parts of the article, particularly the development portion (I had to cut a lot of stuff because they were attributed to dead sources, and I couldn't find adequate replacements). I'm more confused about it being "badly referenced". I've actually added more sources to the body of the article and replaced a lot of dead links over the past couple of days. If you are referring to the lead having no references, I have been told during some of my GA reviews that any references in it should be moved to the body (per WP:CITELEAD). Thank you! Wani (talk) 14:17, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

I'm also a little confused (I did a reassessment for one of Wadi's other articles so he asked me to look it over) - as far as I can see, the entire article (Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds) is referenced. Leads don't need references, as they are supposed to be summaries of the rest of the article, unless there's a quote in the lead or information that's not in the article body (though that's a problem itself, usually). Honestly, I would have rated the article a low B-class, with some medium-sized issues that should be cleaned up before GAN. Can you explain your reasoning? --PresN 16:47, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
@Wani: @PresN: Hi, sorry for the misunderstanding. I thought all parts of the article had to be referenced, including the lead. I've reverted my edit on the talk page back to a C class but I think the "modes" section could be updated a tad. Coming from someone who's never played any of the series, you might want to expand these sections so people will understand it more:
  • Hyper Combo - the only place I can find it talking about this is "[...]by the player to execute certain techniques, such as hyper combos, stronger versions of special moves; "snap backs", which force the current opponent off the screen[...]". This doesn't say what a "hyper combo" is but instead what a "snap back[s]" is.
  • according to Capcom - a weasel word in my eyes, could it be changed? If not, it's fine.
  • Mission Mode - this could be expanded, all it says is it's another game mode with characters (and challenged surrounding said characters).

The section in article surround the sequel, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 might need a rewrite as well, but that's just my opinion. I've made it a C class again but I've left reassessment open. I hope these answer your question(s).--Anarchyte 22:26, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

Hey, thank you for your response and your suggestions! I have made the above changes and expanded some sections (at least to the best of my ability), and I am almost ready to submit the article to GAN. You said that the section about Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 could be rewritten. Do you have any specific suggestions regarding that? Wani (talk) 03:36, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
@Wani:Like, include some of the basic information found in that games article into the one we're talking about.
This is all copy/pasted (and edited a bit) from the Ultimate article, just a few ideas on what could be added/changed.
  • Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is an updated version of Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds and utilizes largely identical gameplay mechanics.
  • Similar to its predecessor, gameplay is restricted to a two-dimensional arena, while character models and backgrounds are rendered in three-dimensional graphics, resulting in a 2.5D visual effect.
  • Maybe take the info from here and rewrite the existing sentence.
Just some ideas. --Anarchyte 06:29, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

Reassessment requests

Hey, while there's nothing in the rules that says that you can't just slap "|reassess=yes" on a talk page to get some feedback, in practice it's usually used for articles that you're actively working on- as in "I've been writing this article, what can I do to improve it from here?". If you are just going to tag it on articles that you happen to be passing by, I have a couple requests. 1- I'm basically the only person who works on the reassessment category, so please don't just tag 15 articles a day. I can't keep up that pace, and the "ideas for improvement" is actually an optional bonus I add- the minimum requirement of clearing the category is just to adjust the class rating without comment, and I'll have to fall back to that to keep up the pace. 2- If you are going to driveby tag an article, stick to ones that don't have clear and obvious flaws- unlike 2048 (video game), which doesn't even have a reception section. It's not really helpful for me to spend time giving ideas for improvement on an article that glaringly needs something. --PresN 18:17, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

@PresN: Sorry about that, I'll try and restrict the amount of reassessment tags I put on. I only put all those on because I was trying to review a lot of apps that didn't have ratings and I was putting the tag on ones I thought were outdated (per the history talk, or if a start class might not be a start anymore).

Proposed deletion of List_of_online_marketplaces

Hey Anarchyte, I'd just like some clarification on the claim if you don't mind. I've been compiling a broader list and it is quite extensive. Over the past decade, there has been a pretty significant wave of online service marketplaces that have emerged and are influencing the modern economy. regarding the decline of Spark (XMPP client) article

My submission has been declined again (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Spark_%28XMPP_client%29). I've added a few external links, but probably it is not enough. As i said to the previous reviewer, this is a software and newspapers are not usually posting articles about this. The most you can cite is various guides and reviews maybe. So this means that this article probably will never get approved. That's ok, though what nags me, is that there are a large number of articles with no cites or with limited information or notability and they still can live here. Another thing is that this software already has 6 articles in other languages (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spark_%28Instant_Messenger%29). Some of them are half-baked, some outdated. But a visitor can find them and see that they provide outdated information, or maybe not in a language he/she can read. Most probably a visitor will seek for EN version of this and won't find it. I think this is hurting the face of Wikipedia. Wroot (talk) 08:57, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

@Wroot: Hello, thank you for contacting me about the issue. I asked for the removal of the "Releases" section per WP:LISTCRUFT but by all means use the references in different parts of the article. Yes, there are articles with no references (and rightfully tagged with {{noref}}) but please don't use that in favour of your AfC. I would've probably accepted it if you had removed that section and beefed up the lead a little more. Once done, resubmit it for review if you want another person or myself to look over it again. --Anarchyte 09:41, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
@Anarchyte:Thanks for the clarification. I haven't noticed your comment on the first glance. I will remove the Releases section. Added it based on the example of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Openfire As i also watch and update that page (i'm not the original author), maybe i should remove Releases section there also? Should i remove your comment myself or leave it for you or other reviewer? Will add more information to the lead section and resubmit later. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wroot (talkcontribs)
@Wroot: I'm currently watching the Draft page, so I'll get a notification when it goes back up. Although... a) I cannot guarantee that it gets accepted by me or anyone else after the resubmission. b) I cannot guarantee I review it. --Anarchyte 10:27, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

11:52:51, 23 June 2015 review of submission by 2601:182:C701:48F1:C991:DC7B:3AA8:FBF0

Hi, just want to ask for some advice, since our article has been rejected multiple times. Are the third parties that we are citing not independent enough? I know that not all these sites are very publicly know, but they are experts in our industry (e.g. Customer Experience Matrix for instance is industry analyst David Raab, a trusted source in our field). What should I seek to improve, is it the number of citations, the quality of citations, or are there also concerns with the text?

Thanks for your help, Best, Ruud BlueConic

2601:182:C701:48F1:C991:DC7B:3AA8:FBF0 (talk) 11:52, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

@2601:182:C701:48F1:C991:DC7B:3AA8:FBF0: Hello. I'm really not the best person to talk to about issues like this since this is my first day doing these reviews. I declined the AfC because of the amount of useless references cluttering the page and the fact that a few of them don't really explain that much about BlueConic. [1] is just a press release and wouldn't help the article in any way except to prove the value of the company in question. [2] shows nothing, just a VERY basic run down of the value of the company (again, pretty much useless). The other references are alright, although if possible they should be expanded upon. There is no lead summarising the entire article which makes it even harder to distinguish notability. --Anarchyte 12:01, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for your response. I did attempt to make it an informative, neutral piece on the book but will go back and rework it. I can also use more links from outside sources.

Once ready I will re-submit for review.

Request on 21:09:32, 24 June 2015 for assistance on AfC submission by Mttocs

Hello,

I'm a little confused as to how to address the issue of insufficient context. Do I need to add more text to explain terms such as "console sever," "power-distribution-unit" and "automatic transfer switch," or do I merely need to link to existing Wikipedia articles that explain these terms ... or is there something else that I'm missing?

Thanks,

Mttocs Mttocs (talk) 21:09, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

@Mttocs: Hello, sorry for the late-ish reply; I tagged it as insufficient context because all the article tells me (as someone who doesn't know anything about the company) is that it a device manufacturer and produces the 3 objects/devices/etc that you mentioned in the draft. The brief history of the company (quicklink) just advertises the company and the last line in the section, (WTI and the WTI logo are registered trademarks of Western Telematic, Inc.) doesn't give me any information at all and looks like a disclaimer more than anything. --Anarchyte 08:23, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Taman Shud Case

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Taman Shud Case you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of Kaciemonster -- Kaciemonster (talk) 20:40, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

Hey Anarchyte, just wanted to let you know that I put up the first part of my GA Review for Taman Shud Case, just in case you haven't seen it yet. Since the article is long and I'm noticing quite a few things that need to be addressed, I'd appreciate it if you could take a look at my current feedback and make some changes to the article. I'm going to hold off for a day before continuing my review, just because this particular review is going to be long and time-consuming, and I want to give you a chance to be able to respond before I overload the review with text. :)
I also noticed that it looks like you've only made 1 edit to the article. Are there any editors that have contributed significantly to the article recently that you think would be interested in getting involved in the GA process? If not, I might make a post on the talk page to ask about it. Have a nice day! Kaciemonster (talk) 17:08, 26 June 2015 (UTC)

-- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 03:18, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

@TheRedPenOfDoom: I'm going to strongly urge you to redact/comment out the above statement (above the warning). There was absolutely nothing about begging the question of the statements made by Kotaku regarding the allegation against Quinn/Grayson in this edit; the question - a fair one - is if Kotaku is involved enough in the controversy to use them as a source. It's a fairly simple answer and did not need removal from the talk page (since the editor exceeds 500/30). --MASEM (t) 03:34, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
There is absolutely no reason to believe that someone familiar enough with the events to be linking to archived copies of the articles is not also familiar enough to know that the allegations are completely false. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 04:21, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
The relationship between Quinn and Grayson has been affirmed by Kotaku and Quinn (plenty of sources on that), and that's all the post was referring to (though yes, they used "editor" as opposed to "reporter" but that I'd AGF as a mistake of Grayson's position at Kotaku, as the posed question still stands). The posting here made no attempt to question the refuting of the claim of using the relationship to gain positive press. --MASEM (t) 04:55, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
The FALSE implications that there were some improper conflict of interest happening due to personal relationships is indeed a BLP matter. That the claims of such improper influence have no basis has been fully and widely acknowledged and covered in all of the sources since the story began. To continue to attempt to drag people's reputations through the mud be repeated implication (in particular by naming and only naming the one person who could not possibly be of any relevance to COI and use of the source) is improper and unacceptable per WP:BLP. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 12:40, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

Refactored from Talk:Gamergate controversy

@Anarchyte: is there a reason why you didnt link directly to the Kotaku article? [http://kotaku.com/were-all-tired-of-gamergate-1648624281 I have spent the last 20 minutes clicking from the links on that page and going back and from all my devices and they all seem to work. has anyone else tried? -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 04:55, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

@TheRedPenOfDoom: Must've just been my end then, Kotaku wasn't loading properly for me when I archived it. It's also (IMO) easier and more reliable if it's archived, just personal preference. --Anarchyte 06:29, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
It must just be you. I have had several friends go through clicking on everything from all of their devices from multiple browsers on each and no one has reported any issues. Why dont you try it again and see if whatever might have been causing your issue has been fixed?-- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 12:58, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

(refactored from Talk:Gamergate controversy) - Ryk72 'c.s.n.s.' 06:36, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

@TheRedPenOfDoom: Yeah, it's fixed now. Should I just remove the archived copy and make it the normal link? --Anarchyte 11:59, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
Hi Anarchyte, Just an FYI that TRPoD may choose not to respond on this topic. My own perspective is that you do not necessarily need to change the link; but may choose to do so. If you do so, you should mention that it was changed. With something like "<small>link updated by ~~~~</small>". Hope this helps. - Ryk72 'c.s.n.s.' 01:46, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

09:44:21, 27 June 2015 review of submission by Enactus IPCW

Kindly suggest how to improve the article and remove the essay-like element from it. Enactus IPCW (talk) 09:44, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

@Enactus IPCW: Hello, I'll gladly help you with this matter. For one, try and look at some other articles, such as; Art, Ayapana triplinervis, Neil Druckmann, etc.. These articles show the way of writing that's common on Wikipedia. The titles of your sections do not help the average reader and are essay-like titles, "What is Aipan", for one, that should be shown in the lead of the article (which at the moment, you do not have). Off the topic of essay-like, your references all come from primary sources, which should normally be avoided unless they're used sparingly. The Facebook pages are very unreliable so they should be replaced with other reliable sources. Facebook, blogs, etc should normally be avoided when referencing your article.
The article is also very "advert-y" which is a bad thing. Again, have a look at those articles I listed before and have a look at how they are written.
The section called "WHAT IS AIPAN?" would normally be in the article called Aipan and would only have to be basically explained in this article, although because the Aipan article doesn't exist it doesn't help establish notability of your company/article.
I hope these points help you, if you have any more questions, don't fret to ask me or ask at the Help Desk. --Anarchyte 09:58, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

Rejection of article on Mikrotron Gmbh

Hello, Any suggestions to improve the article on Mikrotron Gmbh would be appreciated. I now understand (from visiting the chat) that I must seek secondary sources and remove information that clutters and is not directly related to the company.

Thank you very much

Javage11 (talk) 21:15, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

@Javage11: I can't really help you outside of what you just said ([...] must seek secondary sources and remove information that clutters and is not directly related to the company.) apart from the fact that you should probably tone down the advertisement-like style of writing in some sections. --Anarchyte 10:00, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

@80.168.131.194: Your references aren't very reliable, that's all. One is primary which should normally be avoided. I don't really know what I can tell you apart from that. You might wanna check out the comment left by Joseph2302 (talk · contribs) BTW.--Anarchyte 10:02, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

@Non-dropframe: Eh, I tagged it as that because it was referencing a minor and had a "location" as such. I still think it should be blanked as courtesy for privacy but that's your choice. --Anarchyte 11:52, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
Fair point. I've blanked the page and added a blanking template. --Non-Dropframe talk 11:56, 29 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi. I've removed the speedy deletion tag from the article. To say she's not notable when she's competed at not one, but two Olympic Games is nonsense. Please read WP:NOLYMPICS. And it might be worth looking at the user who created articles you tag. My user page states I've created more than 23,000 articles to date. Now I'm not saying I'm perfect, but I do know abit about basic notability guides for each article I've created. Thanks. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 09:36, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

I see you kicked back the LiquidCool Solutions page I created. I emulated another site - using it as a template - so was surprised by the kickback. Taking into consideration your request for references, I added some YouTube videos developed by LiquidCool Solutions CEO that demonstrates the technology. Please let me know if you're looking for something different.

Respectfully.

Hey, I was just checking out your New Melones Dam review and just wanted to let you know that you should wait until all issues are fixed before passing. Just letting you know for future reviews. :) --Dom497 (talk) 21:14, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

your decline of Draft:XARA

does not make sense to me

The article was modified to include documentation and citations for notability, a much higher standard than claim of significance.

What citations, specifically, would satisfy you? What is wrong with the numerous 3rd party citations documenting notability.

re: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:XARA

Pc.techguru (talk) 03:34, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

@Pc.techguru: It's not about the references, it's that the draft doesn't tell me why the company is notable. Half the page is just lists. --Anarchyte 09:53, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
Hi Anarchyte, I had a quick look over this one, and I'm not sure that WP:CCOS applies - reading through it, it refers to WP:CSD reasons A7, A9 & A11, which cover individuals, animals, organizations, web content, events; musical recordings & obviously invented subjects, respectively. The Draft:XARA article is on a concept or technical term, which doesn't fall into these categories. Might be worth reviewing again. - Ryk72 'c.s.n.s.' 12:41, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

now I am even more confused -- the article "Draft:XARA" is (1) not about a company, (it is a security flaw in computer systems that lets rogues steal your passwords, among other things), and (2) in the domain of computer users -- it is a "zero_day" attack, as referenced in paragraph 1 (and defined elsewhere in wikipedia, meeting its own notability requirements), establishes the significance of the XARA attacks on your computing devices.

The citations were added specifically to address the notability concerns of a previous reviewer.

Pc.techguru (talk) 12:39, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

I just noticed that there is a page "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xara" -- which does refer to a "company" -- this is different than "XARA", and they are already separated on the disambiguation page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xara_(disambiguation)

Pc.techguru (talk) 12:56, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

@Pc.techguru and Ryk72: Hi, sorry about that, I thought WP:CCOS was viable for everything. I've since re-read the article and accepted it. I've tagged it with "Technical". --Anarchyte 08:08, 3 July 2015 (UTC)

Ring Learning with Errors Signature

Ring Learning with Errors Signature Anarchyte, I understand you comment about the article appearing to be opinion. I went back through the lead and the introduction and cited the source for most of the sentences. Many of the sources were from other wikipedia articles which I had not cited because I linked to them. I have now added those citations and other citations. I also modified a few sentences to take out adjectives like "rich." Hopefully you may find this less of opinion essay. If you still feel it contains too much opinion it would help to know where so I can improve it. Carvalho1988 (talk) 12:11, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

Amal Women's Training Center and Moroccan Restaurant Good Article Nomination Review

Hi Anarchyte,

Thank you for taking the time to review my good article nomination. I have a few concerns about your review that I would like to address.

First, you failed the review immediately. WP:WIAGA states:

An article can be failed without further review (known as quickfailing or quick failing) if, prior to the review:
  1. It has cleanup banners that are obviously still valid or needs new cleanup banners.
  2. It is a long way from meeting any one of the six good article criteria.
  3. It contains copyright infringements.
In all other cases, a full review against the six criteria is to be conducted and the nominator given a chance to address any issues.

You did in fact complete the review, but did not give me a chance to address the issues.

The reviewing instructions (WP:GAI) further cover this issue and detail a helpful process for reviewing nominations.

I suggest that you read WP:GACN and WP:GRA and familiarize yourself with common mistakes reviewers make during the GA nomination process. This is not a featured article nomination, so comments about punctuation and minor rewording should not prevent the passing of an article's nomination. Unless the article prose is written in an unclear manner, or with poor grammar/spelling, then it should not hold up a nomination.

I appreciate you pointing out that the sentence about the center's director having an MBA was not referenced. That is exactly the type of thing that the review process is meant to find.

I notice that you're relatively new to Wikipedia, so welcome! I suggest that you familiarize yourself with the WP:MOS. It's an invaluable tool when doing anything on WIkipedia. I still don't have everything memorized, I often have to look things up while I'm editing to ensure that I'm making correct decisions. Also, in future reviews (or any correspondence with other users), it's helpful to wikilink to Wikipedia policy to support your arguments, as I've done above. That way you ensure that your argument isn't based on opinion alone.

Again, I appreciate you taking the time to contribute by reducing the GAN queue. It's a big job, and there aren't a lot of people who want to take the time to help out! Rystheguy (talk) 13:20, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

Thank you, Rystheguy for assuming good faith. The big guys are normally scary. hehe Anarchyte 23:14, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Per WP:MALPLACED, a disambiguation page for which there is no primary topic should be at its base page name; the base page name should never redirect to a "Foo (disambiguation)" page. Also, please avoid cut-and-paste page moves. Cheers! bd2412 T 13:20, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

You appear to severely lack the intelligence needed to edit here if you think that somebody who died in 1942 is a BLP. What an utter tool.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:43, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

Anarchyte, The Ring learning with errors page has been updated to remove possible essay/opinion sentences. If you are able, would you review the page again and remove the "essay" tag. I have also added expert references for all significant statements of content. Thanks Carvalho1988 (talk) 17:22, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

You tagged this as an article about a living person that appears to have no references. Tags like this can do a lot to discourage new editors. The version you tagged said "He was killed by firing squad at Fort Mont-Valérien in 1942." What made you think he was a living person? Hi Anarchyte,

I have rewritten certain parts which did not match the encyclopedia writing style. And I have also added a few more references including one from the Huffington Post.

Could you please let me know if it is fine to go live now with the changes?

Appreciate your help as this is my first submission to Wikipedia.

Thanks, Atish

Your GA nomination of Taman Shud Case

The article Taman Shud Case you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:Taman Shud Case for things which need to be addressed. Ring Learning with Errors Signature

Anarchyte, I understand you comment about the article appearing to be opinion. Carvalho1988 (talk) 16:08, 26 July 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for you feedback. I looked at similar software pages like Krita. Almost every link in Krita's references is one of Krita's own or people's blogs or Tumblrs https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krita . What's the difference between them and this page?

@Editor5989: Please read up on WP:PRIMARY, WP:SECONDARY and WP:BLOG. Just because another article has it, doesn't mean it's okay for you to use it. The Krita page is tagged with refimprove and self-published sources, anyway. Anarchyte 12:07, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

deletion of my page, Byzanfolk

Hi Anarchyte,

I created the "Byzanfolk" page nearly a month ago and was planning on expanding it when i discovered it was deleted and deemed a 'hoax'. I understand there was not a great deal of information (only 1 line) but i was planning on expanding it with links and photos of musicians who produce this type of music. I kindly ask for it to be reinstated so i can continue my work promoting this emerging style of music, thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chrisvvv1 (talkcontribs) 11:25, 31 July 2015 (UTC)

2015 GA Cup - Round 2

WikiProject Good Articles's 2015 GA Cup - Round 2

Greetings, GA Cup competitors!

Wednesday saw the end of Round 1. The Rambling Man, who was eliminated during the first round in our last competition, earned an impressive 513 points, reviewed twice as many articles (26) as any other competitor. It was a tight race for second for first-time competitors BenLinus1214 and Tomandjerry211, who finished second and third with 243 and 224 points, respectively. Close behind was Wugapodes, who earned 205 points.

The change in our points system had an impact on scoring. It was easier to earn higher points, although the key to success didn't change from last time, which was choosing articles with older nomination dates. For example, most of the articles The Rambling Man reviewed were worth 18 points in the nomination date category, and he benefited from it. BenLinus1214 reviewed the longest article, A Simple Plan (at 26,536 characters, or 4,477 words), the 1994 film starring Bill Paxton, Billy Bob Thornton, and Bridget Fonda and directed by Sam Raimi, and earned all possible 5 points in that category.

After feedback from our participants, the judges slightly changed the rule about review length this time out. Shorter reviews are now allowed, as long as reviewers give nominators an opportunity to address their feedback. Shorter reviews are subject to the judges' discretion; the judges will continue their diligence as we continue the competition.

Despite having fewer contestants at the beginning of Round 1 than last time, 132 articles were reviewed, far more than the 117 articles that were reviewed in Round 1 of the inaugural GA Cup. All of us involved should be very proud of what we've accomplished thus far. The judges are certain that Round 2 will be just as successful.

16 contestants have moved onto Round 2 and have been randomly placed in 4 groups of 4, with the top 2 in each pool progressing to Round 3, as well as the top participant ("9th place") of all remaining competitors. Round 2 has already begun and will end on August 29 at 23:59:59 UTC. Information about Round 2 and the pools can be found here.

Good luck and remember to have fun!

Cheers from Dom497, Figureskatingfan, 3family6 and Jaguar, and MrWooHoo.

Making articles

[3] Hey Anarchyte—you've been around a while now, so I'd recommend including the sources that prove notability when you first add the article. Otherwise people can contest its notability and generally people waste each other's time. Also if you don't know whether an article has enough sources, it's worth asking around, like at WT:VG and pointing to the draft before sending it into mainspace and unleashing the cleanup and deletion requests. – czar 00:32, 16 August 2015 (UTC)

Reply

Hi, thanks for message. Note that the article was nominated for deletion as by Bazj as advertising as well as non-notability. I deleted your article because

  • it did not provide adequate independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the company claims or interviewing its management. One of your refs was to the company website, another was reporting the owner's claims.
  • there was 7 available references proving notability— yes, I did read that, but if the article isn't ready don't post it in article space. See the comment by czar above
  • it's all about selling the product. We don't know where the company owning the website is based, or any financials for the site.
  • it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Your references were selective and promotional, and why the link to Amazon?
The link to Amazon.com was actually from Alexa, the site ranking site.
  • With a quick google search of "itch.io" you will find it is a notable subject. Clicking on the 'news' section of a google search will bring even more references that are usable.—the idea is that you do the research, not me, and you post when it's ready.
  • If you have a conflict of interest when editing this article, you must declare it.
I do not have a conflict of interest.

I've seen worse, and I'll post on the page you linked to for you to improve it.

WikiProject Good Articles's 2015 GA Cup - Round 3

WikiProject Good Articles's 2015 GA Cup - Round 3

Greetings, all! We hope that everyone had a nice summer.

Saturday saw the end of Round 2. Things went relatively smoothly this month. The top 2 from 4 pools, plus the top participant (the wildcard, or "9th place") of all remaining competitors, moved onto Round 3. We had one withdrawal early in Round 2, so he was replaced by the next-highest scorer from Round 1. Round 2's highest scorer was Pool D's Tomandjerry211, who earned an impressive 366 points; he also reviewed the most articles (19). Close behind was Zwerg Nase, also in Pool D, at 297 points and 16 articles. The wildcard slot went to Good888. Congrats to all!

Round 3 will have 9 competitors in 3 pools. The key to moving forward was reviewing articles with the longest nomination dates, as it has been in every round up to now. For example, 2 competitors only needed to review 2 articles each to win in their pools, and each article were either from the pink nomination box (20 points) or had languished in the queue for over 5 months (18 points). The GA Cup continues to be a success in many ways, even with fewer competitors this time. For some reason, the competitors in the 2015 GA Cup have reviewed fewer articles in Round 2, which has made the judges scratch their head in confusion. We've speculated many reasons for that: the summer months and vacations, our competitors are saving their strength for the final rounds, or they all live in the Pacific Northwest and the heavy wildfire smoke has affected their thinking. Whatever the reason, Round 2 competitors reviewed almost 100 articles, which is a significant impact in the task of reviewing articles for GA status. We've considered that the lower participation this competition is due to timing, so we intend to discuss the best time frame for future GA Cups.

For Round 3, participants have been placed randomly in 3 pools of 3 contestants each; the top editor in each pool will progress, as well as the top 2 of all remaining users. Round 3 will start on September 1 at 0:00:01 UTC and end on September 28 at 23:59:59 UTC. Information about Round 3 and the pools can be found here.

Good luck to the remaining contestants, and have fun!

Cheers from Figureskatingfan, 3family6 and Jaguar, and MrWooHoo.

A barnstar for you!

The Invisible Barnstar
The judges would like to congratulate you for making the 2nd round being in the top 16! Although you didn't make the top 9 of Round 2, we appreciate that you participated in the 2nd Annual GA Cup. We hope to see you next year! MrWooHoo (talk) 23:40, 1 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Y with a line listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Y with a line. Since you had some involvement with the Y with a line redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. -- Tavix (talk) 04:25, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

Steam

Hi,

I believe that you did some editing on Steam (software) last year. There is an issue being discussed at this link: [4]. It is proving hard to find any common ground, and I wonder if you might look at the discussion and question and make any comment?

Regards

2nd Annual GA Cup - Round 4

WikiProject Good Articles's 2015 GA Cup - Round 4

GA Cup competitors and observers: Happy Fall! Get ready, we're about to move into the finals of the second-ever GA Cup!

Monday saw the end of Round 3. Out of the 8 contestants in the semi-finals, 5 have moved to the finals. The semi-finals were competitive. Our semi-finalists reviewed a total of 61 articles, or a grand total of 1,151 points. If you were to lump the top winners from each of the three pools together, it'd be a close horse race; they were within 35 points of each other, which can only mean that the finals will be an exciting race. Tomandjerry211, our top scorer in Round 2, again earned the most points in the semi-finals, with 288 points and 16 articles reviewed. Johanna came in second overall, with 251 points and 13 articles reviewed; Sturmvogel 66 came in third overall, with 221 points and 16 articles. Rounding out our wildcard slots are Zwerg Nase and The Rambling Man. These contestants were very strategic in how they reviewed articles. Like every other round in the history of the GA Cup, success depended upon reviewing oldest-nominated articles. For example, Johanna reviewed 5 articles that were worth the highest possible points. Congrats to all our finalists, and good luck!

Stay tuned to this space for more information about the 2nd GA Cup, including overall statistics and how this competition has affected Wikipedia. We regret to inform you that Dom497, one of our original judges and co-creator of the GA Cup, has stepped down as a judge. Dom, a longtime member of WP:WikiProject Good articles, is responsible for the look of the GA Cup and has been instrumental in its upkeep. We wish him the best as he starts his university education, and are certain that he'll make an impact there as he has in Wikipedia.

The finals started on October 1 at 0:00:01 UTC and will end on Ocober 29 at 23:59:59 UTC with a winner being crowned. Information about the Final can be found here.

Cheers from Figureskatingfan, 3family6 and Jaguar, and MrWooHoo.

2015 GA Cup Wrap-Up

WikiProject Good Articles's 2015 GA Cup - Finals/Wrap-Up

The second-ever GA Cup is now over! The competition officially ended Thursday. Congrats to everyone who participated, and especially to our finalists.

The winner of the 2nd GA Cup is Zwerg Nase! He earned 408 points, over 100 points more than he earned in all previous rounds. He tied with our second-place winner, Sturmvogel 66 with 367 points, in number of articles reviewed (24), and they earned almost the same points for reviewing articles that were in the queue the longest (Zwerg with 322, Sturmvogel with 326). Basically, they tied in points, but what made the different for Zwerg was the advantage he had in reviewing longer articles. It seems that the rule change of earning more realistic points for longer articles made a difference. All of our contestants should be proud of the work they were able to accomplish through the GA Cup. Congrats to these worthy opponents!

Our third and fourth place winners, Johanna and Tomandjerry211, also ran a close race, with 167 points and 147 points respectfully. We had one withdrawal; we found it interesting that competitors dropped out in Round 2 and 3 as well. One of the original judges and co-creator of this competition, User:Dom497 stepped down as judge during Round 3; as stated previously, we will miss his input and wish him the best.

The judges were pleased with our results, even though fewer users competed this time compared to our inaugural competition. We recognize that this might be due to holding the competition during the summer months. We intend on looking more closely when we should conduct this contest, as well as other aspects of the GA Cup. We've set up a feedback page for everyone's input about how we should conduct the contest and what rule changes should be made. If you have any ideas about how we can improve things, please visit it and give us your input.

Again, thanks to all and congratulations to our winners! Please stay tuned for the start of GA Cup #3.

Cheers from 3family6, Figureskatingfan, Jaguar and MrWooHoo.
